Whole White Pizza w/ Pepperoni (Gluten-Free)

The first thing to know about Union Pie is that you never know when Union Pie is actually open. They have stated hours on their website, but you can never really rely on those. It has to be the afternoon or evening, over 50 degrees, and no rain or gusts of wind. My wife and I have had our share of their different types of pizza. They're all pretty good. My favorites are the Hot and Sweet or the White. Recently, I got a Whole White Pizza with Pepperoni added. The primary benefit of this spot, at least for me, is the availability of gluten-free crust without breaking the bank. Also, the attendants are always courteous and work through their orders quickly, so you won't be waiting long. Food: 4/5 Ambiance: It's a kiosk on the water! Service: 4/5

A fun little pizza takeout counter on the Wharf, one of my favorite areas in dc! The pizza is fine, if not a bit overpriced. The mumbo chicken wasn't as tender as I had hoped, but the gluten free cheese pizza rocked!

The mid pizza too greasy, pepperonis are burnt just not great.

The service was terrible guy was an ass to me and my girl and pretty much everyone else there food was mid but okay for 1130 at night, but the ambiance surrounding the little shop was nice they had a nice eating area, waterfront and all

Decided to grab a quick slice of pizza before hitting a show at The Anthem. It's basically a half a pizza for $9, decent price I suppose for the pricy SW DC Wharf. Plenty of quality cheese and it's super thin crunchy crust, a la Jersey Tavern style Pizza. I'd have it again. It's worth a try

Super quick service and delicious pizza after a long day exploring the city! Located right on the Wharf, it's convenient as well.

If you're a bar pie fan, you'll like Union Pie. It's definitely reminiscent of some of the pies I ate growing up. I've been twice. I didn't have the best service the first time, but I spoke up, and the service was fantastic the second time. I also didn't care for the plain cheese version, as it was a bit lacking in flavor. The veggie version is my favorite--the vegetables come perfectly charred and it's super delicious. If you like pepperoni, definitely go with that option. I appreciate that the 'ronis are uncured. It's also nice to have a reasonably priced eating option on District Wharf.

Fast food pizza but better. I got screwed and came on a Mother's Day and Sabrina carpenter concert. So it was crazy packed

If you want a quick grab and go meal to enjoy outdoors, union pie is the right spot. They have pretty good thin crust pies for decent pricing at the wharf. We got the white pizza, and the cheese and tomato pizza. Service was pretty quick and we didn't feel like going to a sit down restaurant so I liked grabbing our pies and eating them outdoors. The white pizza was good, but it didn't have as much flavor and too much ricotta. The cheese was my favorite and had a bit more flavor to it. I recommend half per person and a whole for two; it's pretty filling. You can mix and match two halves...to make a whole :). I give it three stars because it's fast and tasty, but not really unique in anything.

Getting a pizza to go before heading back to hotel, it was a delicious thin crust. They're located next to Shake Shack. Wait time wasn't long. Pizza served hot & fresh. Grated Parmesan & spices in jars located at the window to add on your pizza. I normally don't order thin crust but this pizza was on point. The sauce was very flavorful in the pizza. It's a must!

The worst thing about this place is that they aren't open later! I always really enjoy their gluten free crust, it's thin and crispy without being hard like so many gf crusts are. Solid pepperoni and really enjoyed their white pizza as well with the balsamic drizzle. Also loved that you could still do the gluten free as a half pizza.

I don't know if I'm selecting well or if it's maybe just low key the ultimate style of pizza but this is yet another fantastic example. This Is Detroit-Style Pizza, So Don't Expect New York Style. It's Thick, With A Generous Amount Of Mozzarella Cheese & Tomato Sauce. Honestly, It Almost Felt Like A Cheesy Bread Situation But In A Good Way. The Crust Was Buttery With A Slight Crisp On The Outside & Soft Inside, Which Was The Perfect Balance. The Ingredients Tasted Fresh, & It Was Very Filling. The Size I Got Came With 4 Slices, & Honestly, 2 Slices Was More Than Enough. I'd Definitely Come Back & Bring My Son This Feels Like A Spot He'd Love, Especially If He's Into Breadsticks & Cheesy Pizza. The Staff Was Decent, Though I Didn't Interact Much. The Overall Setup Is Interesting, A Full Restaurant Vibe Inside With This Separate Pizza Concept On The Side. Different, But It Works. However, it didn't live up to the expectations. Upon arriving, my husband and I were shown to a table against the wall that had been set up under some kind of ledge that might normally be used as a bar. I would have had this ledge leaning up against me so I asked if we could move to another table. We were seated at a table in front of the door and the hostess stand, so it was cramped. The tables were extremely packed, I had to use a plastic chair, and the table was wobbly so we had to fix that as well. The day had been a little warm so the door was propped open but when we got to the restaurant, it was really chilly. Since we were right by the door, I asked the waitress if we could shut the door. The waitress said she had to ask the manager and the manager came back and said no. There was a couple next to us who said that they also asked to close the door and the manager said no. My husband ended up getting up and was like Yo dog, it's 40 degrees outside, close the door. They ended up closing the door so like a little sexist? Why will the close a door when a man asks? The waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, and we opted for still. You can imagine our surpris when we found out that we were charged $8.00 for water because we did not specify "tap." We didn't discuss it with the waiter but I thought that was idk, kind of shitty? Everyone knows that you don't pay for the still water We started with the grilled octopus which was ok and we ordered two of the bruschettas. I want to clarify, this meant that we literally got one of each type of bruschetta. I thought we would get like a small plate of both but it was literally two pieces of bread for $12 each. Yikes. I got the short rib pasta which was fine. The sauce wasn't very smooth. My husband got a panini that was also fine but certainly not worth the price tag. For the trouble with asking to move the table, the wobbly furniture, the water, and the door issue, not the best. Won't be returning!

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

It's worth the compromise- trust me! Both were delicious but I'll skip the detroit crust next time, and there will be a next time. For me the detroit crust was a bit spongy and had a slight yeast taste. Not enough to ruin the experience but enough for me to choose a different crust next time. We also got the ranch for dipping - new experience. That too wasn't for me. The ranch is homemade and great texture and flavor just not what I expected. It had a heavy dill flavor...yep...dill.
