OMG, this is our new Italian Favorite restaurant in Collierville. Waaaaayyyyy better than the previous Ronnie Grisanti's. We were really impressed with the flavor of everything. Bread served cold to the touch. Beer served in the can, had to ask for a glass. Patio smells of stagnant water. Reservation was not ready at arrival. THEN, my wife found a quarter sized piece of plastic cooked into her manicotti! WOW! Apparently it was from a wrapper that their precooked food came in. Owner was not surprised in the least and only offered a token apology. She was more worried about getting us out of the "restaurant". A total embarrassment to the name Grisanti in the Memphis area. We enjoyed Saturday night and Monday lunch and all items were prepared without question to delight the eye and pallet. We tried a variety of appetizers and nothing disappointed. My first time here since the big change. It was previously Ronnie Grisanti's and it wasn't very good. I reached out via Yelp to the new proprietor and asked what was new and to his credit he responded with a history and he invited me to come in and give them a try. Looking forward to it on my birthday.. They brought me a complimentary order of cannolis that were really darn good, see the picture I am leaving and it tastes every bit as hood as it looks! Our server Erin was absolutely charming, attentive and knew her stuff, definitely ask for Erin, plus her recommendations were spot on. We had the lobster bisque and my wife really enjoyed it, that's a tough sell too because she was eating lobster since she was a baby but as for me I think the lobster bisque was a bit thin and not as creamy as I like, but it gets my wife's thumbs up. Now on to the main course, first of you get a choice of salads with your entree of Miss Mary's salad with the house dressing that was excellent and very generous, Matt had the Ceasar and he was equally pleased. Betty had the eggplant parmesan and she loved it and it isn't easy to nail a good eggplant dish and they sure did. Overall the service and atmosphere was outstanding and remember you are in rear of an antique mall bit they nail an intimate feel that you totally get the feel of a quaint little Italian spot. I am not sure what the status if the wine license is yet, hey it was the afternoon but I read it was BYOB for the wine with some onsite beer selections available. Erin was highly recommending thstvI come back for the weekends fir their prime rib special that she insists is quite exceptional so since she was spot on with her recommendations on this visit ai am inclined to take her up.on it. Eclectic location in the middle of flea market antique hall somehow works. Food was very good and priced at about market rates (i.e. not cheap). Service was excellent and we appreciated feeling so welcome. Meal was a bit heavy so we can't do it all the time, but definitely an enjoyable experience. After the meal we spend about 45 mins roaming the antique mall which was a fun way to end the evening. Would recommend. read more

So far I have had the manicotti, Elfo's special, toasted ravioli, cheese ravioli, calamari, cheese cake, cannoli and PRIME RIB! Nothing that I have put in my mouth here has been anything short of exceptional. I am a prime rib person and I have to say that theirs is head and sholders above the rest. They say that everything is hand made and it is evident in everything they put on the plate. As nice as the antique mall is, the food here far outshines its setting. While the Sheffield's atmosphere is a bit odd, the lighting in the restaurant is nice. The food is even nicer. I had seen a promo on Facebook for the prime rib special. My mother in law loves prime rib, so we made reservations for that night. She was delighted by the prime rib and my husband and I both enjoyed a great wedge salad. He added lobster bisque as well. Quite good! Great place for calamari. I had the cheese ravioli and it was the best. The bread is sliced into mini chicken tender-like pieces. Very appealing pomodoro sauce and honey mustard. Why would someone not go here? They have a TV that plays movies including Brave and Tangled. The best part is it is located in a mall. read more

I was deeply saddened by my visit to David Grisanti's restaurant. What was meant to be a special Mother's Day dinner turned into a nightmare experience purely by the unprofessional and hostile behavior by staff and the company owners. My family and I were ignored by all servers, including the owner's wife, for an hour before our order was taken and we were later berated over our disappointment in the service. We were very quiet and did not want to complain; however, the owner was outright hateful to my parents and his behavior was excused by the fact that "oh, he's Italian". My family is no stranger to fine dining (which this establishment is most definitely not), and we had no issue with the food wait time. We never received an apology, only accusations that we were the problem for dining in their restaurant and a $60 auto gratuity was applied to our bill. My mother was very upset that she could not enjoy her meal and was forced to take it home because she did not feel comfortable remaining around such arrogant and spiteful people. read more

Having been wanting to go to David Grisanti's on Main since they opened last fall, I finally made it last night. They did not disappoint. I started with an espresso martini. The best I have had anywhere. The toasted ravioli were much bigger than I expected and were delicious. Between my friend and I, we ordered the manicotti-Elfo combination and the special of the night, sea bass. It was all delicious, but the sea bass was the star of the night. Not since I first tasted sea bass in Milano, Italy have I eaten fish so well prepared. And the Dolcetto, Pecchenino San Luigi Dogliani was the perfect wine. While we enjoyed our appetizers and our cocktails, my guest commented on how well the interior paid homage to the classic Italian restaurant of the fifties, but still felt very contemporary. She and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening. David (with his wife Robyn) have done his daddy (Big John) proud. We will be back. read more

Ok, I will admit that the idea of eating dinner in an antique mall was a bit weird. However, it actually added to the ambiance. The food was amazing. The Cesar salad was good, nothing special, but good nonetheless. The ravioli was excellent. The server was good. Really have nothing negative to say. Are there better Italian restaurants, yes.... My husband and I so enjoyed our beautiful first wedding anniversary dinner at David Grisanti's. We've been to the spot for other special occasions but this night felt the most personal and momentous experience yet. We started with the calamari my favorite appetizer and it did not disappoint, then we both had the lobster ravioli which was divine, and then ended with Prosecco and cheesecake my husband's favorite dessert. The staff was attentive, kind and did everything and more to make it a night to remember for us. We have eaten there when Ronnie had this site and it was very good. Tonight we went with a group of eight and made reservations. Recommend reservations as it was busy. That should not deter you from just wondering in, as the staff was very accommodating at seating folks as they showed up. The Elfo's special is a favorite and was absolutely phenomenal, the best I have had at any of the families restaurants. Out of the eight of us six had it and all agreed it was great. They have wine and beer or you can bring your own wine. For starting out on his own David and his staff have done a wonderful job. Yes we will be back many times. read more

David's place at Sheffield's is as good or better than any of the other Grisanti's or any other Italian restaurant I've experienced in the Memphis area. Everything is fresh and the portions are generous. It's clear that David is hands-on in the kitchen. In restaurant service was a bit slow, but well worth the wait. My father was friends with Johnny Grisanti and I have been dining in Grisanti's restaurants for most of my life. We would frequently go to Johnnys places on Central and later to the Parkway location. Afrer Johnny died I followed Ronnie around to a Few locations before I-moved away from Memphis to New York. Although I was looking forward to David's food, Sorry to say I found it disappointing. Smaller portions and the chicken parm was overcooked and dry while the sauce with the pasta was cold. Also, in the middle of Summer the salad was served with hard unripe tomatoes. Although the place was empty at lunch service was dreadfully slow. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I doubt if I will return. read more

I cannot say enough good things about David Grisanti and his restaurant. My family and I had a wonderful experience last night. We started with Bruschetta and toasted Ravioli. Both were spectacular; however, the Toasted Ravioli is out of this world! If you haven't had this toasted ravioli you haven't had toasted ravioli. Handmade, a cut above anything any of us have ever had. It's an old family recipe that's been carried on through generations. For dinner, half of our table had manicotti and Elfo special combo and the other half had Chicken Marsala. Everything was delicious. The manicotti was absolutely amazing, Elfo Special (this is something they've served at other Grisanti family restaurants and I've had many times) was perfectly seasoned and not too buttery, the shrimp was cooked to perfection. No one likes over cooked shrimp, amiright?! The Marsala was also prepared well as a special for the evening. Last but not least... the Italian spinach.... is also to die for. It's light, not greasy or heavy, with no cream. Perfectly seasoned! The atmosphere is different, obviously you're in an antique mall, but it really was kind of neat. We ate then shopped. It felt very eclectic and homey. David came out and greeted our table and was super friendly, thanking us for our visit. This is, hands down, the best Italian food we've had in the Memphis area. I had the opportunity to try David Grisanti's for the first time last Friday evening with my wife and daughter. We had been to the previous Grisanti's in same location and it was very good. Nothing has changed as far as the decor and unfortunately the dust from the antiques is still there but is not awful. We ordered the chicken ravioli, chicken parm and a steak based on our server/manger saying they serve some of the best steaks. The chicken ravioli was good, different than the other Grisanti's rest, but good. The chicken parm was pretty good, tasted a little like a chicken tender, so not sure if it was actually fried, and then whoever pit the plate together must have pulled pasta out of water and put it on the plate wet, so after adding the pomodoro sauce, the sauce was made watery and the flavor which is subtle to begin with was basically gone. Now for the steak, was asked to be medium plus, I could tell on the plate by first touch it was medium rare, it cut in a confirmed, so if the staff is great at cooking steaks, all the same size you need to know when a steak is done. Steak was sent back and needed about 1-2 minutes longer, after 5 minutes, said to family that they left steak on to long, and it came out as a charcoal briquet, and the server who said he knew steaks didn't even notice, which was evident that it was left on to long. 3 miss Mary's salads were good as always, I would say it was more 3.5 stars, but missed on the steak. The appetizer of Bruschetta was ok, not very big and to much cheese, it looked more like cheese bread than Bruschetta. I wanted to like it more and will give it another try at some point. read more
