Outdoor patio

5.5/10 - I just think that the pastries here are very overpriced. I would understand if they were a very popular and hyped bakery, but they really do have the audacity to charge what they charge. We got a very sad premade unheated baguette sandwich and that was $18 for a thin slice of bologna and cheese. The indoor seating and patio was cute, but otherwise I think that the selection was small and I just could not justify spending $7.50 for a plain croissant.

My Cortado was great, and the sandwiches we bought were too, but the sandwich selection available was limited. The service was good. The loud vehicles passing by on the 101 were a bit annoying but they probably would not keep me from visiting again.

The sandwich was tasty and fresh the coffee was fresh. The salted focaccia was wonderful I was Larry at first but it gave the sandwich a nice tangy earthy flavor. The heirloom tomatoes were fresh I got them on the side cuz you never really know. The customer service was good. A little pricey for some really small sandwich but it was worth it. And you know good things come in small packages. I'd come back. Ambiance is beautiful sitting on the balcony in a nice sunny day with a nice view of the ocean and palm trees of course

Ordered the #BombayLatte but you must be a fan of cardamom because you can definitely taste it I also had the #JambonBuerre and it was delicious with the ham, herb butter, Gruyère, arugula and mustard. I am a returning customer but these two items were a first for me

Thank you for the great service! it was really yummy and delicious. I would recommend to try.

The Caprese Baget.

I had the Caprese baguet and it was super crispy and full of popping flavors ! The service here was very welcoming and warming. I enjoy the view of the worker making the freshest pastrys. The price for the Baget was very affordable too. I definitely coming back tomorrow!!

One year later and I'm back! I came at 3pm. The interior is really pretty and I do love how the light shines through the seating area. They also had a few books in the corner, I believe. It is clean, organized, but they do not have water cups for you. Maybe if you go at 3pm, you have to ask for it. They also have outdoor seating. Also, Yelp says there's an ocean view....No, you're not on the beach and you can't really see the water either because of the building in front. For a French bakery it didn't have many French baked goods-- for some reason lots of scones, cookies, cinnamon bun, etc. Yes, they had pain aux raisins, some pain au chocolat, plain croissants, and jambon croissant. They also had sandwiches-- some served on crispy French baguette and others served on wheat bread. The worker was kind. I ordered their tuna sandwich and she asked me "if there were any in the front?" I said "No, just turkey." And she replied that "it was okay and they would make it fresh for me." That was nice. But then the total for the sandwich was $15. I was shocked because it was more expensive than a turkey club at Board & Brew. What am I paying such a steep price for? I thought that maybe I'll get bang for my buck -- yeah right. The tuna sandwich was the most pathetic sandwich I laid eyes on and tasted. The description said there was tuna, rémoulade, cheese (can't remember exact one), arugula, balsamic on wheat bread. This sandwich was more arugula and balsamic than ANYTHING. I can still taste the bitterness. The size of the tuna was shocking as it was only maybe a teaspoon amount on the bread, check the photo. There was no rémoulade aka mayonnaise based sauce with cornichons, herbs, and sometimes capers. I'm so disappointed and honestly pissed as well that I paid $15 for this. Now that I've cooled off a little I came back to give some feedback. Their food and pastry items need to have the prices written on the menu. So that there's no shock or surprise. If you run out of something, just tell the customer so that they can choose something else if they wish. Yeah, I don't mind paying a little extra if the quality is there. There was no quality here and there was very little quantity as well. If this is how your tuna sandwich recipe is written, re write it because it's straight robbery! They were ok the first time I tried Darshan Bakery, so if you want to-- go and eat some pastries and have your morning coffee/lattes. They are just ok, nothing extraordinary like some French bakeries. But heed my warning and do not order the sandwiches. They are 1000% not worth it!!

Je taime Darshan Bakery. The coffee and food is magnifique! We had the turkey and avocado sandwich, almond chocolate croissant and latte....all of which was super yum. We will certainly frequent this wonderful place.

I loved that it was made from croissant dough, which made it lighter and more flaky than most cinnamon rolls. I have high standards for croissants as I've been to France many times. :) The view that I got to enjoy these watching while sitting outside, made it such a great experience. I balanced my sweets with a cold refreshing iced Americano, and I would like to come back to try the Nutella danish. The service was great. The shop is next to Handel's ice cream, and a hop, skip, and jump from Jimbo's. Parking is a bit outrageous but that might just be because everyone is on summer break, despite it being a Thursday at 7 PM. I'm a sucker for the plain, no-nonsense, cookies. The ones that have 1 million things going on I can't eat. So I opted for the chocolate chip oatmeal and my husband, the Yelp recommended strawberry cookie. The chocolate chip oatmeal ratio was too much chocolate chip. It almost felt like it was 80% chocolate chip and 20% oatmeal. I want to bite into that oatmeal texture and that didn't come through with this cookie. I will say that I liked the chocolate chip oatmeal much better than the strawberry white chocolate cookie. This cookie to me was awful. If you have ever grown up with eating strawberries and cream, Quaker oatmeal, this taste exactly like it. I could not even enjoy it because it brought me back. Customer service was great and answered our questions without hesitation. Cookies are reasonably priced at about five dollars.

Not to be dramatic: There's good chocolate cake, and then there's really good chocolate cake. This…read moreis the latter. This is the place to go in San Diego if you want a slice of luxury without the guilt. In short: get Le Signature, Le Noisette for a nutty flavor, and if they have it, The London Cake (think chocolate and caramel; currently obsessed with this one!!). Tip: Store cakes in a cold/cool place if not eaten immediately especially during a heatwave summer or you'll learn the hard way. Best eaten with unsweetened hot coffee. Here's the long review: Parfait Paris has been consistent with their cakes; I've been visiting them every time whenever I'm close to one for about 2 years. There are multiple locations; I've been to Carmel/Del Mar; Coronado, and Fashion Valley. I don't really stay to eat; I usually grab a couple of slices (avg price is $13/slice) and slowly savor it at home with black coffee. All I can say is that this bakery knows their flavors and textures. The bakery offers pastries, macarons, and other desserts but if you're undecided, get the cake. Esp if you love (like really love) chocolate. I've stuck to 2 cakes: Le Signature- has a light chocolate mousse filling with a shortbread crust and dark chocolate glaze. Le Noisette- an employee there once told me it was like a Ferrero Rocher but a cake version. Accurate description but so understated. The mousse filling is chef's kiss. The monthly special: The London Cake: it's definitely an upgraded version of a dark chocolate cake. Filled whipped caramel filling and chocolate cream; it was balanced and sweet but not in a way that makes your teeth scream. This is the cake that had me question all the chocolate cakes I've had in my life; and the one where I go back the next day, like literally drive the extra mile(s), to get another slice. A little bias here but I've tried the mango bliss cake in the past. Decent flavors and texture as described but not as impressed as their chocolate ones. I've had my fair share of eating lots of (chocolate) cake in SD and LA; this place is def always on my list.

The next time we went was after Pilates and I asked my friend if she wanted to share it and she agreed this time! I was so excited to try it! The owner was very sweet she let us try samples of the new marshmallow ice cream that they are testing out. It was so good! I ordered the sumptuous special with frozen hot chocolate. She made it aesthetically pleasing. They asked how I wanted it and I said picture perfect! Watching her make it was so fun and jaw dropping. I was in such awe! The marshmallow alone was so amazing to watch! It was so good and made with such good ingredients. I did share a bit with my friend, but boy I had basically the whole thing to myself and it was perfect. The frozen hot chocolate was bittersweet too. Every single cookie looked incredible -- and somehow tasted even better. Let me start with what these are not... These are NOT your typical over-the-top, overly sugary, same-tasting cookies where everything is piled high with toppings and ends up blending together. These feel like true homemade cookies -- soft, gooey, rich, and perfectly balanced. The kind that melt in your mouth and make you immediately reach for another. Favorites? Honestly, it's hard to pick: * The double chocolate was unreal * The raspberry had such a great flavor twist * The churro was unexpected and so good Every single one had its own unique flavor, and nothing felt repetitive. And let's just say... this box disappeared fast. I also love that this is a smaller, mom-and-pop style shop. You can taste the quality and care in what they're making. We ordered delivery, which was super convenient, and I'm so glad we did. Hands down, this is a place I'll be ordering from again and again. If you're debating it -- just do it. Five stars all the way.

(editing to add this is a French-owned and Black-owned business, in case folks are looking!)…read more I usually come here when I'm doing errands on Cedros - and I usually just want to get my français on and order a café crème and a croissant. But today I needed a little extra je ne sais quoi because my morning was annoying, so I decided to splurge on lunch and not just a pastry here. I asked Steve, the (très beau et gentille!) co-owner what the quiche of the day was. There were two: one with jambon (ham) and one with épinards et fromage de chèvre (spinach and goat cheese). When I hesitated, he told me that the spinach one was amazing. Even though it's $20 for a quiche plate, I decided to go for it. I thought I was going to get a sad little quiche slice for that amount and might regret it. But OMG, it was more than worth it! Already they have a lovely patio on this pretty street in this fancy design district. But it was also a HUGE and exceptionally savory rectangular slice, alongside a DELECTEABLE petite salade. I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. I don't want to spend that much for lunch every day - but I'll be back!
