    Breakfast burrito
    Sierra S.

Lucky bolt used to be my go to when stopping by to grab a coffee and pick up lunch. Today I was blown away when I went to get a breakfast burrito. $13 for a breakfast burrito that is closer to $16 after tax and tip - I expect a good sized burrito that is fresh and tasty. We are in San Diego. The burritos are now no longer made to order, and they are tiny. The one I had this morning was a little bigger than a pack of cards. It tasted fine but the shrink flation is real. I also used to get the chicken soup because it was fresh and tasty but they are charging $25 for a takeaway container. This isn't Erehwon. Needless to say I am going to skip in the future.

I love coming here! I have been here twice and both times enjoyed it. Both times I had been riding my bike for a long ride. Both times I got a pastry; the first time I got a lemon pastry and it was absolutely divine: creamy and delicious. The next time I stopped in, I got a ham pastry, it was also tasty and I loved the layers in the pastry. Perfection! I greatly appreciate the helpful friendly staff! Last time I was in the gal offered to fill my water bottle when she saw me walk in and look for a filling station. Kindness matters. I'll certainly be back here!

    Breakfast sandwich with bacon

Wow! Found this place on a quick search as I needed to wait for a friend and decided to grab a quick bite for breakfast. The bacon breakfast sandwich is WINNING here! Service was quick and friendly, and food was ready in minutes. Everything in this sandwich was well prepared, fresh, and filling. The bread was very fresh and perfectly grilled/toasted. Tomato and arugula were fresh and tasty. Now, the main event of this is obviously the bacon, egg, and melted cheese (on both sides). I enjoyed every bite and was very satisfied. I will be back, and told my friend who lives very close she must give this place a try.

I had a good breakfast sandwich from this kitchen and bakery in Sorrento Valley. The breakfast sammy comes with locally pastured raised scrambled eggs, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, aioli, and bacon. You can have on your choice of bread. I went with cracked whole wheat for $13.50. They put a great toast on the bread. It was crunchy and very tasty. I thought the scrambled eggs were okay. They were not made to order but were of the pre-made variety in trays and cut into rectangular portions. The sandwich would be better served with made to order eggs. The caramelized onions were delicious, and so was the aioli. It was a good breakfast sandwich. I also had some black iced tea, which was very good. The young lady who took my order was very nice and friendly. I ate inside the place on the high table along the window. They also have a few tables outside on the sidewalk.

Average and not necessarily unique in flavor, technique, or style. Subtlety of any flavors out of the norm were simply too light to detect. Came here as part of a set of bakery reviews I was planning on doing. Shop is small and unassuming, at a good juncture right off of a very popular bike trail and the highway. The place wasn't very busy on this very random, early weekend morning. Ham & Cheese Croissant - good initial flake. Layers are acceptably separated. Good flavor. Well filled with contents and spices. Savory and hearty. Chocolate Croissant - clear traditional construction with good, distinct layers. Clearly based on standard croissant dough as flavor leans more towards buttery. Chocolate is just a tad strong, causing a difficult juxtaposition to the dough. Monkey Bread - needs a bit more flavor per cluster but remains consumable. Few raisins - could use many more per serving. Good flavor and construction overall, but otherwise standard. Cinnamon Roll - flavor profile is far too light and often feels absent. Tastes just like coiled, laminated dough with a sprinkling of sugar. Not satisfying for a French cinnamon roll.

this is a small shop right by the highway with a lot of parking and seats outside of the bakery! i wish the baked goods were a little warmer but overall good and flakey! the staff are super nice and there are also free samples of the sourdough!

    Cobb salad! So fresh :)

I have been here in years.... Now that im working close by again, it was nice to visit some old lunch places. So glad they are still here!!!! I had sandwiches in the past and they were good. I wanted something light since it's holiday party time... :) thank you for being there!

We also split a croque monsieur which was warm, cheesy, and perfect to balance out all the pastries. I wish they had real cutlery (vs only plastic disposables) for dine in customers. Our family shared all these goodies and a plastic knife was no match for some of them. Overall, really good quality pastries and breads, worth the early lineup. Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . Hard to find many other places. They also have tea and coffee, and my husband and I LOVE their hojicha latte, which boasts a nice earthy-to-sweet ratio. If you want a grounded flavor without getting another coffee, try the hojicha latte! The store itself is quite small, selling sweet treats, drinks, and even flowers through a collaboration with a florist. They have about 4 tables outside -- recommended for small parties, unless you come when it's empty with a group. This is just below the price for an Extraordinary Desserts cake slice, which is not only bigger and more complex, but also made fresh. We noticed the crepe cake slice we got had that dusting of ice sparkles, indicating it was frozen and defrosting, and additionally, as it defrosted, the more it started leaning. Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.
