Great price and delicious food! The Southwestern corn chowder soup is absolutely delicious!!!! The staff is very friendly and service is fast, which makes it a great weekday lunch spot!

The Grove at Governor Pointe is a dining facility serving the adjacent offices at this cul de sac in the University City neighborhood. There was a parking deck right next to the building, however there was also a row of surface spaces along the north side of the structure which I took advantage of during my late lunch hour visit. The seating capacity was roughly the same between the outdoor tables on the patio and the inside tables across from the service counter. Breakfast, lunch, and happy hour were offered between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. About half a dozen choices were available for breakfast with double that number for lunch. A separate happy hour menu listed five different small bites. Coffee, tea, and smoothies were the drink categories. I saw a posting for a Chicken Tikka Masala entree but learned that it was the lunch special from another day of the week and not a regularly served item. My selection was the Fish Tacos with a cup of soup on the side. I asked for the white fish to be grilled instead of battered. Two tacos were served on corn tortillas topped with shaved cabbage, pico de gallo, salsa roja, and serrano crema. They were slightly larger than street size and were decent in quality. The star was the soup of the day which happened to be mushroom. It was a dark grey colored broth with micro-cilantro as a garnishment. The soup was very creamy and hearty. I could have filled up with another round, it was that good. The food came out quickly from the kitchen, and the workers were very friendly. I don't know how busy The Grove gets during peak lunch time, but it's a nice spot to hang out to do laptop work or for a break from the daily grind.

Cute place with clean and fresh atmosphere. Tables and chairs in an open space. Friendly staff and quick service. I had their seasonal white chocolate and pumpkin spice latte. It was delicious!

I got the avocado toast over toasted and poached eggs which weren't poached. They were semi hard boiled toast is wheat toast with looks like sour cream and sliced avocado not mashed avocado with radishes seems to be fairly good. The one thing that was very disappointing. Was they take no cash their card only. I don't know if I'll be going back. I called in my order and Kim was very nice and when I got there, they were very nice behind the counter.

The bacon croissant breakfast sandwich is incredible perfectly toasted, and packed with flavor. The staff is warm and friendly, and the seasonal White Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Latte is a must-try. A great spot for breakfast or coffee break.

Side of grilled chicken, Caesar salad, fries

Lovely spot next to work. I find myself coming often for a quick smoothie, delicious fish tacos and salads, and the amazing tortilla soup that makes Mondays something to look forward to. The staff always know me too:). The place feels welcoming, and very much like home, and the food is top notch quality and beautiful every time.

Breakfast burrito with steak. Packed and delicious!

I told my friend the food was worth the wait. After an hour we got sat at the bar and our first server was friendly. There was a transition of servers (not sure if he left for the day or went on lunch) and the new server would check on everyone at the bar except us. My water remained empty for most of the meal. The bartenders in front of us were clearly having a conversation and I didn't want to interrupt. My friend claimed her Irish coffee was sour? And didn't realize cheese came on a side of eggs (she should've checked when she ordered but the server never clarified either). We weren't checked on during the meal until the bill came and by then we just wanted to leave. I ordered the fluffy pancakes and found an egg shell inside. The cracking of eggshells in my mouth made me loose my appetite. We paid (still tipped of course) and left. It was great the first time and mediocre the second time. I prefer consistently in service, especially if I'm waiting an hour to be seated.

We had spent most of the day around Bankers Hill and decided to grab an early dinner at Books & Records. Getting reservations was easy, but from the moment we walked in, the ambiance alone already had us sold. The place was still pretty quiet when we arrived, and to our surprise it was happy hour, so naturally we ordered a bunch of items off the menu along with drinks. Everything was ridiculously good. Not one miss. What really stood out though was the attention to detail. The host brought us a complimentary glass of champagne after hearing we were celebrating our anniversary. Small gesture, big impact. Stuff like that matters. As the night went on, the restaurant filled up, live music started playing, and the whole atmosphere just came alive. Our waiter never rushed us once, which made the experience feel even more intentional and relaxed. We were able to actually enjoy the moment instead of feeling pushed through dinner service. Good food is one thing. Great hospitality is another. This place gave us both. Next time we're in San Diego, we're absolutely making it a point to come back. Lovely spot. Lovely experience.

Dennise seated us and was so kind, she even shared a few of her favorite menu items since it was our first visit. Our server Anelle was great as well. She was friendly, attentive, and helped us pick some really good dishes. We tried the Tacos Dorados de Papa, El Sampler de la Abuela, and La Bomba, and for appetizers the Burrito de Machaca con Frijoles Puercos and the sweet corn tamal (which ended up being my favorite). The food and ambiance were great, but the service from Dennise and Anelle really stood out. They made our birthday brunch feel special.

Cocina 35 is a popular Mexican brunch spot in San Diego, with 3 locations in the area. I secured a…read morereservation online for Sunday, and I'd recommend that given it does get busy. Cramped and loud, but nicely decorated and serving solid authentic meals. Mexican Latte-9/10: Pretty straightforward. A solid, nostalgic spiced coffee. Mazapan Latte-10/10: A novelty menu item, both nostalgic and tasty. With a sweetened condensed milk rim and mazapan dust, this sweet coffee is a must order. Chilaquiles-10/10: Cocina 35 knows how to throw down the best Mexican breakfast item: the chilaquiles. The Verde was good but didn't pack much heat. The Salsa Secreta was our favorite; a creamy 3-chile salsa with an artichoke flavor, this one packs an enjoyable amount of heat. The Chipotle was another yummy and creamy option, making your nose run but still very enjoyable. Frijoles Puercos-7/10: They were pretty standard. I've definitely had better. They served their purpose as a good side. Concha Rellena-7.5/10: Another creative menu item. Whipped cream and whole strawberries sandwiched between two french toast-style concha halves and drenched in cajeta. It was sweet and warm, but would've been more enjoyable with fresher and/or sliced strawberries. Fun to order, but a regular concha is better suited for enjoying with your coffee. Service-6/10: Again, Cocina 35 gets packed, so service isn't as attentive. Our party had to order and wait for water, ask for refills, call the server over for more orders and again for the bill, and wouldn't speak to us in Spanish. I witnessed other tables be spoken to in Spanish, but upon ordering I'd only be responded to in English. I know I'm a white Mexican, but native tongue is nice when I make it clear I'd like to order in Spanish. Overall, a fun spot with solid menu items. The samplers are pricey but probably the best bang for your buck. They do the classics very well, and are very much worth your visit!

So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! "Over medium" eggs came barely cooked, still had clear egg gel floating around. The table next to us had the same issue. The fried chicken, which is beautiful looking, was strangely flavorless. Another table was also talking about this issue. Bacon was way overcooked as well. I also really dislike when food timing for a table is way off. I rather it stay in the kitchen under a heat lamp and come together rather that spend 5 minutes staring at my food being polite. So, for a fun "wow that's a ton of food" experience this is it. But I much prefer quality ingredients and attention to detail and flavor over unfinishable portions at a premium price point ($100 after tip for 2 ppl).
