They recommended the banana latte with cinnamon foam, and wow, it was actually SO GOOD. I ordered the soyrizo burrito to-go. If you're eating outside the cafe, I'd suggest asking for your sides to be packed separately - the fruit wasn't as fresh by the time I got to it, but the burrito was super flavorful and delicious! If you're looking for a great little brunch place you should come checkout Daffodil Cafe! It's a very neat little cafe decorated with daffodil wallpaper and balloons! The food is very good with a decent amount of options. The staff was great, very friendly and courteous. There's plenty of parking in the parking structure that you can get validated. We came here for my daughter's birthday which she looked up and wanted to try. Definitely a great choice. We had 2 hot matchas, iced matcha and a drip coffee for our drinks. Came here to get some work done on a really hot day, so I decided to go with the acai bowl. It definitely had an interesting assortment of fruit that I don't normally see in acai bowls like apples, grapes, and blood oranges, but they actually worked surprisingly well! The blood oranges were actually my favorite because they were so sweet! All the fruit was really fresh, and the acai hit the spot. Bonus points for the beautiful interior, numerous tables, and strong wifi! I definitely want to come back to try their hot food options as well as their bevs. read more

What a cute cafe! Tucked away in La Jolla Commons, they validate parking, making it easy peasy to enjoy. The decor is light and bright. I would call it bohemian chic. I ordered the chia pudding (which is bizarre because that is something I would never order) and it was SO good! It was thick but still smooth and flavorful and the fresh fruit on top was perfectly ripe. The honey lavender latte was on point served in an adorable ceramic mug and the spinach danish was so beautiful I didn't want to bite into it and ruin the design. Haha. Glad I did. And I think monin is clearly superior to torani Banana bread latte If you like your coffee on the lighter brighter side this will be a good place for you. The flavor is well balanced between spice and banana and the latte is well made. 7/10 Honey apple latte Coffees the same of course but I thought the chemistry was a little less successful on this one. It is very sweet (not my preference but understandable). I didn't get a lot of apple though. 6/10 Soyrizo burrito I was quite surprised by this bad boy! It's a really decent size, includes potatoes/cheese/eggs, and the taste is good. The soyrizo brings a good amount of smoky spices and it's not overly salted (a common issue when soy-meat alternatives are used). The accompanying salsa is bright with forward notes of onion and cilantro. I also appreciate the supreme citrus, nice touch. Altogether it is a well done basic breakfast meal. 7/10. Daffodil is a nice cafe for a bite and a beverage though there isn't much setting it apart from others except for the staff. Daffodil Cafe is located on the ground level adjacent to one of the office buildings of the La Jolla Commons complex. They validate parking for one hour in a visitor's space inside the nearby deck. After that, the rate was $1.75 for every 15 minutes or part of. The inside was spacious with several tables for seating along with a large sofa and lounge chairs in the middle. Two large menu screens, one for breakfast and one for lunch, hung on the wall to the right when you entered the suite. I visited in the early afternoon while there was one party seated playing a card game. The lunch menu featured three salads, five sandwiches/wraps, three bowls, and six sides. I picked a Chicken Tikka Masala Frankie as a bowl. The item was the kitchen's twist to a classic Indian cuisine staple. Stewed chicken was cooked with Indian spices and served with white basmati rice, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and green chili yogurt sauce. The mixture was not spicy, yet it was pretty flavorful. A couple of pieces of naan would have been a nice enhancement. There was a free WiFi signal so I spent time catching up on my laptop before I realized that the extra parking time would not be covered by the validation. Those who work in the surrounding offices now have a new option within walking distance for dining. I enjoyed my lunch at Daffodil Cafe to give it a four star rating. read more

My sandwich was weird and came as a "melt" ...nowhere on the menu did it say it was a HOT sandwich, the lettuce was hot and it was sweet....it also didn't come as i ordered it. When I mentioned it I got no apology or offer to remake, or even a free cookie maybe. The other sandwich was basic (tuna) and my friend said it was bland and didn't like it. I ordered the banana bread iced latte from their seasonal drink menu (it doesn't show up on their website, but you can see it when you go to place an order), and my MIL tried the gingerbread latte. The banana bread latte was a miss for me -- it didn't really taste like banana and mostly just came across as a vanilla latte. My MIL, on the other hand, really loved her gingerbread latte and said she'd order it again. They also have a pretty extensive food menu, so I'd love to come back and try that next time. My friend and I stumbled upon this cafe tucked away inside a local business park, and wow, what a score. This is seriously a hidden gem that deserves all the hype. We had to try both breakfast and lunch. The Classic Breakfast Croissant Sandwich was perfectly done--flaky, buttery, and a great, satisfying start to the day. Next up was the Smashed Burger. Topped with crispy bacon, melted Hatch cheddar, perfectly caramelized onions, and a vibrant herbed aioli, it was seriously incredible. I just kept saying "wow just wow" after every bite. But the true champion was THE TURKEY SANDWICH. Served on soft ciabatta with provolone and fresh mixed greens, the secret is the house-made bacon jam. That jam takes the whole thing over the top--it was absolutely to die for. The best part? The ciabatta was so soft and fresh, it did not cut the top of my mouth. Such a hidden cute little oasis of joy, cozyness and great food too! I went there as I was at a doctor appointment nearby and wanted to try something new. Then I was surprised that was inside a complex of mostly financial buildings (but they validate one hour parking). I parked on the street because I didn't know that I also wanted to see the sculptures in campus. I like the touch of green in this café. Warm greeting from the lady who speaks Spanish, very beautiful and welcoming and she suggested I try the salmon toast that was awesome and satisfying. Capuccino was also perfectly done. The commons smash burger: The sauce was really good, tangy and herby and I loved it with the caramelized onions. The patty was a little overdone/dry and the fries were pretty standard. Classic breakfast sandwich: The croissant itself was standard, the egg patty was thick and fluffy and came with arugula, bacon, and cheese. The overall sandwich was a bit under-balanced and a little dry. Belgian waffle: Loved the fresh whipped cream! I do wish the waffles weren't as dense and the compote wasn't so thick and overly sweet almost like a jam. The blueberries on top were also a little old/wrinkly. They've been open since June and look like they are set to thrive. The owner brought her Kensington Cafe to University City. The food was delicious and fully satisfying. My partner had the Commons Smashburger (new on the menu) and said it's one of the best he's ever had. The thick cut bacon and aioli were excellent on it. Our daughter had the Chicken Tikka Masala Frankie, delicious and came with a nice yogurt sauce- get extra napkins, it's worth it. I had the Lox Toast- bread perfectly toasted and the salad with the lemon vinaigrette had a lovely bite that paired well with the lox. I made it into a sandwich so I wouldn't miss a bit of it. Had to try the Banana coffee drink- it's on the sweet side (delish), so order it half sweet if you have a coffee forward preference. Nydia was very attentive to all the customers. She and the owner visited every table ensuring we felt welcome and cared for. Use the parking structure- best option and they will validate for 1 free hour. They are open M-F 7:00-2:30. Cute cafe attached to a business building. Paid parking in the lot across the street but it wasn't too bad. Wasn't the biggest fan of the masala bowl- tasted like straight tapatío. Service was okay and everyone was nice but please train staff to not take people's drinks and plates without asking if they're done first. They took my brothers half full coffee to the dishwasher and when I asked for it back they said they already dumped it. As a hospitality professional I was shocked that the girl did not offer to make a new coffee since she threw away my brothers drink. I would go back to try something else. read more

I like the green chili yogurt sauce. The side salad that came with it is good too, has colorful large strips of carrots. The sauce of the chicken though made the wrap soggy pretty quickly and it started falling apart in my hand. So I think it may be better as a bowl with the naan on the side. The food was fresh, great quality, delicious, and there was plenty for everyone...a huge hit all around. We had the pasta salad, chicken crunch salad, a variety of sandwiches, fresh cookies and pastries, plus a beautiful fruit bowl, and everything was perfect, especially the presentation. The customer service really stood out too; super friendly, fast, and incredibly accommodating, even with last-minute changes...literally adding to our order while they were setting up lunch. Delivery and setup were seamless, and everything looked great. We already order from them all the time for lunch, and this just confirmed we'll be using them for all our meetings going forward. read more

Such a cute café that you normally wouldn't know about due to the fact that it's in a business center. The inside has super cute, wallpaper and florals and plants. The women and gentlemen working there were super super kind and the service was phenomenal. Nidia, the woman who took our order was so personable and friendly. At the end, when I asked for a validation, she told me it was only for an hour and was working on getting it in stated for longer so people can stay longer than 60 minutes. She ended up giving me a sticker to fully validate my parking so I didn't have to pay for parking for my extended visit at the café. 10 out of 10 service. The food was also amazing. I went to this little spot for the first time today and I absolutely adore it. The cauliflower rice bowl with chicken was delicious and the raspberry white chocolate latte is my new favorite coffee--delicious and flavorful without being overly sugary. The space is fresh and open and has a lot of light shining through. It has a happy, uplifting feel to it. The manager gave me suggestions on food/drinks and was warm and inviting. Highly recommend and will be returning when I need good food and relaxing coffee and journaling time. read more
