The customer service was atrocious, the waiter we received was extremely rude; service time was extremely long without reason, food came out cold, and it was way over priced for what we had received. This restaurant is not recommended so save yourself from experiencing it. read more

Food was delicious! If the review was just about the food, I'd give it a 5 for sure. 4 stars because the service could've been better (our waitress was friendly enough but we felt more like we were inconveniencing the staff by being there; no one greeted us when we walked in and we caught the eye of several employees there but not a single one acknowledged us for a good few minutes before our waitress dryly said hello and walked us to our table). Ambiance was entirely too loud, some sound dampening would enhance the vibe. The place was definitely unique and I can see myself going back, just wish the staff had more warmth and the space didn't have sound reverberating off every surface. read more

darkalino's has an awesome happy hour! their space is open and has such a cool atmosphere. definitely a good soot to go to for gno or before a mariners game. for happy hour, they have small bites, half sandwiches (which i think was plenty! and generous!), and pasta (enough for a small meal/bite, definitely don't expect heaping portion of pasta), a handful of cocktails and some other alcoholic drinks. discovered the PS martini, which was really good, sweet, fruity, easy to drink. we also got the corpse reviver and darkalino spritz, all were fantastic and strong. i ordered the meatball sandwich. i was blown away by the focaccia, it was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and was perfectly seasoned with olive oil and flaky salt. i wish i had ordered something to dip it in.... the sandwich came with a few big meatballs, cheese, red sauce, an aioli or mayo or some sort, and arugula. my only wish is that it had more red sauce! otherwise a fantastic option for only $9. i got to try the aglio e olio too. noodles were cooked perfectly and the dish definitely has a spicy kick to it, which makes it much more interesting than a regular aglio e olio. service was nice, it wasn't too busy for happy hour, but it definitely got more and more crowded closer to the game. read more

We ate at Darkalino's for a birthday dinner and had 17 people. The service was over the top for a group this large. Never once did it feel like we were waiting on any orders for drinks or food and the staff was attentive to all requests throughout the evening. We had a prix fixed menu due to the size of our group and nothing felt like it was made in bulk. Everything was high quality. They were even able to accommodate a gluten allergy in the group. Great service, great food, great cocktails. We will be back! read more

Oh my word - this place is very unique and so good. Known for their coffee, they also make divine focaccia bread and pastas. Everything they make here is done with much care and precision. Very cool open kitchen concept that you can watch from the second floor of the restaurant. We enjoyed lunch here before a Mariner's game and will definitely go back!! read more

Pretty cool spot! I loved what they did to this place, it's where London Plane used to be but they've remodeled it and it has a darker and moody vibe that I love. I met a friend here for a quick bite before a show. We ordered drinks they were very tasty and curated. We shared a salad and the bread and marinara. It seems very basic but it was so flavorful. I can't wait to go back here and try more bites AND the music was ON FIRE. read more

I was taking a lunchtime walk and was curious about this restaurant as I hadn't been here before. It's right along the pedestrian road adjacent to Occidental Park - the same street as Cafe Umbria. I was greeted and seated quickly. I had a nice spot next to the window which provided a lot of entertainment, which was people-watching. I asked what was popular here and one of them was the pesto sandwich - it was an excellent recommendation! This is the best one that I've ever had. The bread was toasted perfectly (light crispy outside and soft inside) and the burrata cheese went perfect with the sauces. The flavor balance was *chef's kiss*. I also ordered the Caesar Salad and am glad it didn't have too much dressing (again, good balance). It came with shaved Parmesan and finely crushed bread crumbs. There is ample seating, and they have an entire upstairs floor as well. It's a great spot for lunch and I'll be back to try more items! read more

The focaccia is top notcha! First time visiting yesterday going back solely for the bread. The pasta portions are tiny. I ordered the ragu it was ok. But the focaccia, I'll be back tomorrow solely for it. I didn't get any dipping sauce and it truly doesn't need it in my opinion. Service was quick. Ambiance is nice. Unique spot with sneakers and a wooden bleachers to sit on while you wait as well. Lastly, Kate was great took my order and delivered it to me quickly. read more

Pretty good housemade pastas in a light and airy atmosphere! I tried the amatriciana pasta which was a good texture and flavor. $22 during lunch hour, but apparently prices are better during happy hour! A sneaker retail shop is attached, and seating is available on the main floor and upstairs. Service was good, nothing exceptionally bad nor exceptionally good. Parking in the area as usually can be challenging. read more

I can't remember how I heard about Darkalino's but I knew they served pasta and it was in Pioneer Square. I wandered around today until I found it (sure, I could've made life easier by googling it but I didn't remember the name). After some waffling, I decided on the Aglio E Olio - garlic, Calabrian chili (gives a nice little kick), pecorino finely shaved, breadcrumbs which give a crunchy texture I wasn't quite sure I loved, but might?, olive oil, spaghetti. It was good, I enjoyed it and would recommend. Portion size seemed decent and filled me up but I did eat a PB sandwich an hour later so I probably could've eaten more :) The other dish I will try next is the ragu - feel like you can't go wrong there. I saw other patrons eating the Caesar salad and an eggplant parm sandwich and both looked liked they packed a lot of flavor. On the list of things to try. Servers were great. I came in a little after 12p and sat at the bar to eat since I was alone and only the 4-tops were open. It's a cool space. There's an upstairs seating section and also where the bathrooms are located though I didn't need to use them. I like the exposed brick walls with the contrasting white ceiling. Because it's cavernous with no sound dampening it is very loud. Anyway, great addition to PS! read more

We as a group ordered 3 plates of food. They all came out at different times like 15 minutes between each coming out. Pasta was too al dente and the vodka pasta serving size was ridiculously small. Nice area and decent vibe but really would not come again. Especially when you factor in price. Also why do they have a shoe wall in there? read more

Location was great, very close to a bunch of the fun touristy attractions so it was a nice walk down after that. The inside decor was fascinating in that there's a bunch of bleachers that I still can't figure out the purpose of...but overall a nice place. Staff was super responsive and helped us get drinks and menus very quickly, and they were overall great. Food was very tasty, as a group we ordered two pastas and a sandwich. I thought the pasta portions were rather small (for the price), whereas the sandwich was huge. Overall would go back! read more

This place is absolutely incredible!! If you're looking for authentic tasting Italian, this place is IT. The freshness of the food stunned me. I had the chicken parm and I can see the care the chef took in preparing the meal (fresh veggies and spices)....it was truly next level. The vibe was very laid back and the wait staff were very attentive and nice. read more

Wait time was long but the food was worth it. Delicious pastas, veggies, and bread. Cool vibe and good service.

Great experience all around! The staff was super kind, welcoming, and quick. The food was delicious--especially the focaccia (a bit salty, but still amazing). It was slightly smoky inside at first, but the bright, modern vibe and fun ambiance made up for it. I'll definitely be back! read more

Best pasta and sauce I've had!! The vodka sauce was incredible. Meatballs 10/10. Pasta 10/10. Chicken Parmesan 8/10. We went here for a quick dinner but are eager to try this place again. This place!!! They have some delicious hand made pasta dishes & light and airy focaccia bread...and I normally try to stick to a gluten free diet, but NEVER when I'm here! Their pappardelle pasta in a simple pomodoro sauce is my favorite even though I'm a big meat fan...it's simple & delicious so the pasta can be the true star of the dish. Their sandwiches are all served on their house made focaccia, so solid start. We tried the eggplant Parmesan sandwich and it was so good. Panko breaded eggplant slices but the star of the sandwich is the Calabrian aioli & fresh arugula...yum! My favorite dish of the night had to be the roasted cauliflower...it was on a bed of sauce which I thought was going to be a marsala cream sauce but it was completely different from what I expected. Not for the faint of heart or those that don't like strong flavors...it was an amazing bagna cauda sauce made from anchovies & browned butter possibly?!? It was PHENOMENAL...we sopped up every last bit of it with our focaccia bread & eggplant sandwich! This bagna cauda & roasted cauliflower would be perfect tossed with their pappardelle pasta...I think I would LOVE that! We also had a special dish sent by the chef, their burrata, who doesn't love burrata, delish served on a bed of puréed eggplant & topped with pickled minced radish to cut & compliment the richness of burrata, so intentional by the expert chef. The service is always casual & cool just like the place...it is half athletic shoe boutique and fun eatery...they have a DJ on Tuesday nights, which always gives a good vibe. This is a fun place to go with friends...that way you can order family style like we did and order an array of dishes, we ordered so much they had to give us an extra table! They also have really nice crafted cocktails & Mocktails. We finished our meal off with the only dessert they have...a chocolate pot de crème, which doesn't look like much but it's delightful light but rich in flavor. Also great for sharing just so you can have a bit of sweetness at the end if an amazing meal! Everything is so delicious here but I would get there more on the early side vs. late because they tend to run out of items as it gets closer to closing...we saw a big party come in about 30 minutes before closing & they ended up leaving because they were out of a bunch of items they wanted. Check their hours & head in well before closing. This is always a great date night spot! read more

So, I was looking for a nice place in Pioneer Square to bring a group of co-workers, and I came across Darkalino's, so I went in for lunch by myself to see how it was, and it absolutely blew me away. Their Italian on focaccia is damn near the best sandwich I've ever had, the service was fantastic and quick, and the space itself is just cool as hell. And the wildest thing is, I have no idea how they manage to keep their prices so reasonable, considering how good their food is! Long story short, they were able to accommodate our group for the next day (which I'm really thankful for, because it was short notice!) and it was a great time all around. This time I got the porchetta sandwich, which was even better- if that's possible. Our group ended up getting several different dishes, and every single one of them looked fantastic! Seriously, I can't recommend this spot enough. I don't even usually post reviews on Yelp, but I just had to in this case. It's **that** good. (Also, they apparently just opened a second location up near Wallingford in Tangletown, which I'm gonna be heading to sometime very soon!) read more

I went with a group of four during lunch and we were pretty quickly seated even though it was busy. They had outdoor and indoor seating available. This place is also located in the same space as a shoe store which is somewhat odd - restaurant is just one half of the space and the shoe store is the other half. I ordered the focaccia and the pasta alla amatriciana. Focaccia was pretty good on its own, but on the saltier side which can make the sandwiches taste a little too salty (mentioned by someone in my group who ordered a sandwich). Pasta alla amatriciana was fantastic! Pasta was perfectly al dente and it had just the right amount of heat. It was a good recommendation from our server. Speaking of, the staff there were great - very friendly and high energy. Service was also pretty quick which was a good surprise since they just opened recently. The only downside is that this place is fairly expensive, but that seems to be the case for a lot of restaurants around Pioneer Square (my single serving pasta was $22). Overall, I would recommend this place. I'll be coming back just for that delicious pasta. read more

UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED. We went during the Morgan Wallen Concert. We got sat first, however 4 groups who sat AFTER us got their food before us. We waited more than 2 hours to get any knowledgement of our order. Eventually, we canceled because we were very upset at their service. They did not plan accordingly for a busy weekend. They ran out of food even before we ordered. This was such a disappointment, I wish they told us that the wait time was so long for food. We would have left and gone somewhere else right then. read more

This place! The music! The drinks! The food! And the service! 10/10!! We came here after having a horrible experience elsewhere, and what a complete treat. This has been the WORST restaurant experience ever! When we came in there were only a couple of tables full. The forgot my mother's order and most up two of our orders. We asked for one of them to be remade due to a dairy intolerance. It took over 30 minutes to get the olive oil and garlic spaghetti.... Again the place was nearly empty. Over those 30 minutes new tables slowed started coming in ordering and receiving their food... We kept being told that the kitchen was just busy. After another 10 minutes we asked to speak with the kitchen manager. He just said they were slammed and they would bring it when they could. Big parties that came way after us had already eaten and left before my our food came. I have never experienced ANYTHING like this anywhere. Never once did they apologize, just "we are busy". Though not to busy for the rest of our order to come out within 10 minutes of ordering. It was spaghetti noodles, garlic and oil. read more

Zero stars. 2 orders screwed up and they tried to cover it up. How does it take 45 minutes to pour olive oil on plain pasta? Never again.

We, a party if three, came in at 7:30 for dinner. The waiter then told us that it would be a five to ten minute wait. We sat and waited and for 20 minutes. Then stood up to see how many tables were open. Outdoors there were five; indoors it was almost empty. Instead of serving us the staff cleaned off the tables and waited until 7:59 to seat us. at that time the server came out and told us the kitchen had closed. The food looked amazing but we didn't get to try it. read more

This is my first yelp review, and just had to share! Darkalino's has amazing food, great ambiance and even better service. Must try: pesto pasta dish! The menu listed carbonara available only till 2pm, however my BF really was hoping to order it. The waiter heard our interest and surprised us half way through the meal with a plate of carbonara on the house. Super friendly, told us all about the restaurants story and their hopes to grow it for the future. Absolutely must try, with dog friendly seating on their lovely patio in pioneer square.
