To go order 1. Best chicken biscuit in town - the biscuit is good size and fluffy and tastes home made. The chicken is fried well and good amount. 2. Chicken and waffles - very good of course we know it would have tasted better there. Service was helpful - they do not carry some pastries yet so I got refunded. Casual place and fully packed inside. Music was very loud and I couldn't hear the staff when I was picking up my order, maybe turn down the volume a notch. It's not a dance club! Some patio seating outside also. Well didn't even get to try the food at this location as it doesn't do substitutes like the other Dandelion Cafe. Looks fancy inside in comparison though and parking is valet or street which not hard to find. Just sad they couldn't sub an item. Also the personality of other location seems more my speed, willing to assist and overall good conversation. To celebrate National Chicken and Waffle Day, I tried out Dandelion Cafe in The Heights. They add chorizo spices to the chicken, which gives it a small kick of spice. My entree came with three pieces of what seemed like thigh meat, along with a buttermilk cornbread waffle, syrup, and maple butter. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. The waffle held up fairly well. It would've preferred a crispier waffle, but still worked well. I also ordered their biscuits with blueberry jam, which were also good. The only issue I had was the disorganization of the service. It seemed like they were still figuring things out. I came with a friend, and he ordered the same thing. His came without syrup. We did have one person check on us, but only once. I don't believe the small issue with the service was the norm. Other than some small oversight, the meal was flavorful. The decor was cherry and bright. I'll have to give them another try down the line. read more

Dandelion is a local brunch chain in Houston, and they recently just opened their latest location in the Heights. We visited this location, as it was close to our home. Like most parking in the Heights, it was very limited but were lucky that a car was leaving. We got the bourbon iced latte, breakfast taco with chorizo, chicken and waffles, and blueberry lemon curd french toast stix. The chicken and waffles and blueberry lemon curd french toast stix were my two favorite dishes! The chicken was crispy on the outside, pairing well with the soft cornbread buttermilk waffle. The maple butter on top of the waffle was a mixture of sweet and savory, and the saltiness from the butter tasted great with the sweetness from the waffle and syrup. The blueberry lemon curd toast stix came with 6 large stix topped with whipped cream, blueberry compote, and lemon zest. The stix were fluffy but was not overwhelmingly sweet with the blueberry compote. It was zesty and fresh! The breakfast taco was okay and did not stand out to me particularly. It was smaller than I expected and dry with the sauce on the side, and the sauce was lacking flavor. The coffee was also okay and was more on the watery side. You order before sitting down, and although there was only about 10-12 people or so in front of us, the line was moving very slowly with only one cashier that takes the order. We waited for about 45-50 minutes despite the line not being long before we were able to order. However, once we sat down the food came out pretty fast at around 15 minutes maximum. Overall, there was some great dishes, such as the chicken and waffles and french toast stix. I am not really a brunch or breakfast person, but I think the Dandelion Cafe has slightly changed that. read more

I came here on a Saturday and there was a bit of a line to order food. I wasn't surprised since it was the weekend but we probably waited 15 minutes to order. We ordered the strawberry Nutella French toast which has a cream filling and was really good. The tostadas were also delicious, loved the beans and eggs on top. We've been wanting to eat at the Dandelion Cafe in Bellaire even before they became famous on TV for beating the breakfast klub for the best chicken n waffles in town. Surprised they opened one near our side of town, and let me tell you it did not disappoint. There's surprisingly a decent amount of parking at this location. They have an order at the counter system and they bring your food to you. I immediately noticed the nice outside seating area, but as you walk in the space is surprisingly spacious. They also have bar seating. . All the employees were friendly and personable, which I think should be a requirement if you're service breakfast or lunch - no one wants grumpy service this early in the day. We had to get the chicken n waffles, but also tried the dandy classic. The waffles were very good, and to be honest the chicken was packed with flavor and super juice it probably is better than TBK. The dandy classic was great - I got it with their home made blueberry jam which was amazing, sour dough bread and chicken sausage. Overall a very good meal. So glad we have Dandelion in the Heights, and the space here is so nice. I can see myself eating here a lot. Definitely check them out! read more

I was so excited Dandelion Cafe was coming to the heights! I really loved the Bellaire location, but it was such a pain to drive there, so super excited to have this location nearby! So if you guys haven't had dandelion cafe, the food is fantastic. I haven't had anything I did not enjoy. This time, I decided to get the chicken and waffle and a half order of the avocado toast. I also got a brown sugar latte and a smoothie to wash it all down. The chicken and waffle is always perfectly seasoned. The waffle is crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Really so so good! I love that they put caramelized onions on their avocado toast! The service was exceptional! I ventured out with my newborn solo for the first time. I couldn't be more thankful for all the employees there who were so willing to help me out. Everyone from the barista to the manager to the food runners, everyone was so kind and it really meant so much to me! I wish I got everyone's name but a special shot out to Brooke. She was the real MVP! I had brought in the car seat so the table in the very back of the restaurant with the booth was really the only table I could sit at. The music/playlist was great, but it was a tad bit loud at 0830 AM. That would really only be my 1 rec to improve, turn down the music just a tad. I did love that they have an outdoor patio to enjoy your meal. I can't wait to be back!!! read more

Stopped by last weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! The staff were super friendly and checked on me frequently. The inside is very clean with plenty of seating. I could easily see it getting very packed on a weekend. Additionally, they also offer outdoor patio seating with plenty of shaded areas. My food tasted fresh and with love! I could tell everything was made in-house. The hash browns are on the savory side and it may be more of a personal preference to other diners. Nonetheless, everything was delicious and I'm so glad Dandelion Cafe is in the heights and I can't wait to come back! I have a feeling I'll be a regular at this location. read more

This place is a remodeled warehouse in the heights. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. This is a order before you sit the restaurant. Everyone seems nice and greeted you when you walked in the chorizo and egg taco was really good. Could have ordered two of them. The sausage and egg is mid at best. The buttermilk pancakes are fluffy and large. I ordered two thinking they were normal sized. The pancake was really flavorful after adding the maple butter and syrup. The fried chicken was definitely seasoned. I was quite shocked at how flavorful it was.. I feel if they would have been left in the fryer for another minute they would've been overcooked. I'm not sure if this is the standard frying method, but I did not taste any burnt pieces just dark in color. I will definitely be back to try the cornbread waffle and chicken. read more

First time here. Got traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, maple sausage, hash browns and wheat toast with apple cinnamon jam. Two big thin pieces of homemade maple sausage was surprisingly good but very spicy but will take one home for tomorrow! The 2 eggs seemed less than other places but good. I love hash browns but these are very limp. The jam was awesome! Was $22 with my coffee/tip. So overall a nice experience sitting outside. This restaurant really surprised us for brunch!! The atmosphere was welcoming but packed. The seating is pretty much order before sitting, the food was really good and flavorful. I ordered a single blueberry pancake, with a half order of the avocado toast with fried egg and a side of chicken sausage. We came to Houston for a visit and stopped here for our first brunch. This place is super cute and I loved the method of ordering at the counter and being delivered your food via buzzer. We didn't order any, but the pastries in the case looked so delicious and so did many of the items on the menu. The staff were so attentive and kind, we had many great conversations and they helped us along the way. We got the Pomegranate Orange Mimosa with no orange because they were out and it was really refreshing and delicious. I ordered the Matcha Made in Heaven with vanilla syrup and it was pretty underwhelming. I have had better matcha elsewhere. For our mains, we ordered the Strawberry Cream French Toast with no Strawberry syrup drizzle, the Award Winning Chicken & Waffles, and The Dandy Classic w/ bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and wheat toast. I did love the preseason eggs--I don't see that often at all. The hashbrowns were crispy and the bacon was perfect.The spicy butter with the Chicken & Waffles was delicious. We came here 2 weeks ago for breakfast. We arrived at 10am which I'm glad we did because the line got long after us. I will say it moves swiftly and food arrives quickly after sitting down. The inside dining is a little small but I was impressed on how quickly the staff was to pick up and clean the tables to accommodate new parties. We were a group of 5 and we got lucky that a large table opened up. I recommend keeping it a small group going forward because like I said we got lucky. Not sure if there's something more special about the Bellaire location but at the Heights location we were underwhelmed. I stopped here for a coffee and matcha to go with a friend. I got a hot matcha latte with house made almond milk and honey. My friend got a caramel latte with the almond milk. I definitely do not recommend the almond milk with the matcha... I don't know how to describe it but it gave it an almost macaroni taste. Ended up not finishing my drink. My friend said her latte was okay because the caramel overpowered the almond milk taste, but that she probably wouldn't go back for coffee again. In terms of service the baristas were very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. There is a lot of seating inside and easy street parking nearby. Overall, I would come back to try this place for the food because it looked pretty good! I don't think I'd order their matcha again and definitely wouldn't get the almond milk. read more

I've been waiting to try this place for a while! While I miss Kraftsman which used to be at this location, this has been such an awesome addition to the Heights and they have upgraded the patio, etc. I got the omelette, almond croissant, and tried the Pride latte which has bourbon caramel. I didn't taste much of the bourbon caramel, but it was still a great latte. The whipped cream had melted a little by the time I got it and the server offered to have them make another for me which was very sweet, but I did not care at all! The hash browns were great. I got onions in my omelette and it ended up being a lot of caramlzied onions, way more onions than egg in the center of my omelette which is not my preference, but it was easy to remove the extra onion so I could taste more of the egg as I ate. The almond croissant was large and I took half of it to go. I could see this place being busy on the weekends but was pretty empty on a Friday morning. Big chicken thighs fried nicely and soft waffles. Dandy's Classic: hash brown, bacon, white toast and fried over hard eggs. Everything was seasoned perfectly not salty not greasy. Single order of buttermilk pancake oh my this was the best pancake I may have ever had in Texas by far yet. Highly recommend. Honey butter chicken biscuit was probably the least favorite as the biscuit was over cooked and rectangular. It was easier to eat this item with just one biscuit side and was on thicker side . Parking there is about 10 parking spots and like 2 handicap parking spots and street parking. All food was served hot and brought to you except your drinks. I've heard nothing but good things and this experience I had here was underwhelming to say the least. The orange juice cup was in a water cup worth $6. We weren't given any napkins and there were none by the water station. I received my food and the bacon was super dry and tough. One of the pieces wasn't even a full piece of bacon, a sliver at best. The hash browns were a not good at all... the only thing I liked was the bagel. Not worth $40 for two plates and a cup of OJ. read more

Very unorganized establishment unfortunately, I ordered " biscuit jams " which was supposed to come with 3 biscuits and 3 jams and butter. I received two biscuits and 1 Jam which isn't even on the menu to order as a side ... I sent it back and then received 6 biscuits and jam and my card was charged $15 without my knowledge. Dandelion Cafe is where Kraftsmen Bakery used to be. We chose an popular time to go, so the line was long, but we were lucky to grab a table when we made it through. We live in the neighborhood, so we could walk instead of drive because you know any restaurant in the Heights has bad parking. I think my son had an omelette, and it was devoured. I had the half order of the Avocado toast, which was tasty and just the right size for someone who wants smaller portions. My husband had a sandwich, I don't remember which one, but it was also enjoyed. The drinks were great - iced green tea and a London Fog. Dandelion Cafe is one of many brunch spots in Houston, specifically located in the Heights. As Houston's brunch scene has exploded immeasurably in the last 5 or so years, Dandelion Cafe was definitely on my list to try. For starters, the line is obnoxiously long. You order and pay and then seat yourself. On a Saturday morning, there were more than enough open seats to where people in line were waiting longer than to get and eat their food. Their system is really inefficient with the cashier making small talk and slowing the line down. Understandably, it's important to deliver great customer service but not at the expense of other people waiting in line (I waited for more than 45 minutes). I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Blueberry and Lemon French Toast sticks. As a post hangover meal, this absolutely rocks in all regards. The waffle is super fluffy and the chicken pairs perfectly with it. The lemon and blueberry french toast sticks were also a flavorful option however was a tad bit too sweet for my liking (understand it's french toast sticks), but was still a very good meal! The weather's cooled down somewhat to have a seat outside and enjoy the ambiance and atmosphere of brunch. Overall, I did enjoy my time here but wish the line moves at a faster pace. read more

I was surprised by the way I had to stand in a long line to order my food Upon entering. This meant that I both paid for it and tipped the cashier before receiving my order. I had the dandy omelette and small coffee. The plate looked beautiful, The omelet pepper was so hot that I couldn't really enjoy tasting the food. I tried scraping the cheese and sauce off which proved to be better, but not what was expected. I told the cashier and was graciously given a new omelette sans cheese. Not the same but not hot. The potatoes were ok but not special as they had advertised roasted hashbrowns as if that made a difference. They were actually a little greasy. Decided to come on for Sunday breakfast as I heard nothing but great things about this place. This place is conveniently located in The Heights area off a side street at a corner. Let me start by letting you know that this is a SELF service restaurant meaning you have to stand in line to order your food grab a buzzer and have a seat. You have to get up and get your own water, napkins, silverware etc. I would save that is one of the downfalls of this place. They also don't serve alcohol yet fyi. The decor and ambiance is cute plenty windows and it's kid friendly. There is a small parking lot with street parking. The staff was friendly and the order wasn't a long wait. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which was three fried chicken thighs with a huge waffle. It had some kinda of a spicy flavored butter which I would place on the side but was definitely worth ordering. The coffee mugs and the water cups are small so you might wanna order a carafe so you don't have to keep getting up. I also wanna state this restaurant does not take reservations it's first come first serve so be prepared. I don't think this place can accommodate large groups as I would not bring a party greater than four. My friend ordered the Dandy Classic which in which she stated she would not order again. What I tried on her plate was the hash browns that I DON'T recommend. It is unlike your normal hash brown and has a weird taste. All in all I would come back to this location.
