I've been coming here every week for several months now. They have my favorite coffee in the city - the Colombia. It has a cherry note that's unlike any other coffee I've had. Today I was hoping to try their specialty lattes but the menus don't offer any description on what's going on in the lattes and the line was long so I couldn't comfortably ask. I got a plain latte with an extra shot and a blueberry muffin. I was asked if I wanted the muffin warmed so I said yes, but the muffin came out cold. Overall, the experience was mid level at best. Late night stop. Catching up on work and needed a place to keep me awake. I keep seeing this Luce location and decided to stop by. Greeted with friendly faces and great recommendations from staff. Cold Spanish latte was the perfect kick to get me working. Went upstairs as bottom had limited seating. Definitely different vibe upstairs. Very chill and yet work comfy. Great window vies to watch the outside lighting lights. Seats are high stools with tables, outlets and even a wire holder. Enjoyed the time here as well as the drink. Today I came by and ordered the black island which contains charcoal powder,coconut milk and pandan. Other times when I come by I often order the Black Forest which is a mixture of charcoal powder and match. Every time I come by here I never leave disappointed as the drinks are very creative and tasteful as well. I always come in and order my drink and it never takes any longer than 10 minutes, most times less than that. The area is very large with two levels and the upstairs level even lets you look down to where they are making your drink, the music that they play is relaxing and not your typical playlist you hear when you go to most restaurants. I really want to like this place...... I do. But unfortunately I can't. The place is located in a shopping center and is very convenient. The overall look of the place is very rustic and modern. I truly think it was decorated well. It's on the smaller side but maybe there's seating upstairs. The two stars are for the chai tea latte being impeccable everytime I go. The breakfast tacos from Liberty Taco are good. Overall, no complaints with the food. The service is TERRIBLE. There hasn't been a time that I haven't gone in there and someone has been rude. This past time I online ordered 30 minutes before I got there. It wasn't ready when I got there. No worries! I asked the girl how long I should wait and she says, "I'm literally making it right now". 1/10 experience. I went out of my way to come to luce since I had passed by on another occasion and it had piqued my interest. The customer service was *horrible*. I felt like customers just being there was a bother to the two baristas working. In my hapless experience, a young white lady was who took my order + a young corpulent hispanic lady was who made/gave me my order and they both treated me with extreme unpleasantness. I had seen they have certain events coming up which looked interesting, but I cannot justify coming back here with how I was treated. The coffee was decent, but definitely overpriced for only 16oz. Modern industrial vibes at this specialty café that roasts its own coffee and crafts some really good coffee drinks! I've tried several of their coffee bags for brewing at home and they are great! I have not yet tried any of their pastries but they look delicious. Vibe: Lots of space and a small patio area in front. Lots of seating and outlets on the second floor, great for working remotely. This is also a great place to meet up with friends and catch up! The decorations keep everything looking clean and organized with style. Service is excellent and the baristas are helpful. Food: On our most recent visit, we tried the cortado and mocha latte. The cortado was very creamy and the espresso was extraordinary! Mocha latte was also delicous, and had a good balance of sweetness from the chocolate to balance the espresso - not too sweet. I've tried their pourovers before and they have been consistently good. I've been working my way through all of Houston's coffee shops, trying to find the best cappuccino and I've had some really great ones. I'm lucky that the very best in the whole dam city is only a mile from home. I'd been here many times and enjoyed it, and in the last week I'd had reason to travel over a big chunk of the city, so I got to try four new coffee shops, including some great ones. Make no mistake, this is the best #^%!$ cappuccino in the city. I've had it with and without sweetening (my latest was a half sweet one with vanilla syrup) and it is impeccable every single time. I've never had a bad drink here and have started rambling today because this cup is absolutely perfect. I've also had cortados, lattes, and iced drinks and they are all spectacular. You're crazy if you are within ten miles of this shop and don't go out of your way to get coffee here. I like getting on my laptop and reading while I have coffee (or ranting on Yelp like this) and there's good seating and the music is great but not invasive. Good vibes. read more

A neat coffee shop that you'd most likely miss unless you were actively searching for places online. Ella Blvd immediately north of I-610 is mainly a stroad of unorganized box stores, but then you randomly come across a well-paved modern plaza at the intersection of West 34th St. The inside of Luce is even nicer; aesthetically, this place is in my top 5. Customers are seated toward the edges of the rooms with the center being reserved for either service (1st floor) or decorations (2nd floor), which makes for a unique design. As much as I like the looks, this shop isn't entirely user friendly. Most of the table sizes only suit single customers. You could bunch up with a friend, but don't expect to have a productive work/study session with more than one laptop out. 2 longer tables are located on the 2nd floor, but that's pretty much it. I also noticed a lack of wall outlets on the first floor where I sat. Their hot fallchata latte (seasonal drink) tasted great. Really enjoyed the oat milk/cinnamon blend but felt that they went a little heavy on the cinnamon this time. I coughed a little on the first sips. Relaxing place if you need somewhere to work individually. Otherwise, I wouldn't come here with a friend or else I'd have to bank on one of two group tables being open. read more

I came by and ordered a little before noon a chai latte, which was prepared perfectly warm-hot, creamy, and just sweet enough. I asked for the ham and cheese croissant to be heated and wrapped, so that it wouldn't leak through the bag. The staff wrapped it in parchment paper, then inside a double open bag. I was in the heights to run some errands and decided to get my coffee fix. I found Luce on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The coffee shop is beautiful and have an upstairs for more seating. I ordered the Island Latte, this consisted of coconut pandan milk and espresso. I love 'almost' anything with pandan! 10/10 recommend! Really love this roaster and location. Nested in a small shopping center but the inside is deceptively large. Baristas are always so friendly and helpful. I normally go for their black label which has a hint of earthy taste to the drinks but not chalky at all. I also get it 50% sweet as I don't like it super sweet. I always get the iced island latte and it is perfection. The pandan and coconut milk pairs so well with the rich espresso. If you love a creamy, strong, and sweet coffee - this is for you! It won't taste watered down even once the ice melts (although this has never been a problem for me since I usually finish my drink before then). I'm usually able to snag one of the bigger tables upstairs by the windows for group study. Otherwise, the smaller tables are suitable for individual work.
