Everything from the atmosphere, to the staff, and down to the drinks are amazing. It has a nice chill vibe that's great for getting work done. This shop does offer free wifi although it does seem to have some restrictions and is a bit weaker depending on where you sit. I didn't have any problems myself accessing sites but my boyfriend as well as a few others near me were having difficultly getting to their school sites and work sites. Both of the drinks were from the "Black Label" section of the menu. I ordered the Iced Black Island with an extra shot of espresso and the MontBlanc. Both drinks were delicious and enjoyable to have while grinding out some work. It's unique that they have a pandan flavored coffee which I haven't seen at other places which keeps me wanting to come back for more. Luce coffee may be a "love at first sight" (or "sip") kind-of thing for me. My goodness was my first taste of their coffee quite immaculate! I got their Island Latte which was pandan, coconut milk and espresso. The execution on this coffee was spot on! Espresso wasnt bitter and pandan was not too sweet. It was the perfect balance for a perfect drink. I can see why this particular drink have a lot of fans. Its definitely a must try! Also tried their Black Cloud which was also delicious! They roasted their beans so beautifully that you can just taste that in your coffee. A very satisfying drink to say the least! Inside is open and spacious as well with more seating upstairs. As for the service we got that day, it was excellent as well. I had a couple of questions for the baristas regarding their coffee beans before I purchased and they were quite accommodating as well as knowledgable about their products. This spot has tacos and tons of pastries for the hungry customer. We got a jalapeño ham and cheese croissant which they nicely warmed up. It was definitely on the spicy side but delicious and they have versions without jalapeño. Their space was clean but did not have a ton of seating. Good for working if you can snag a spot. From everything I've heard, Luce is one of the OGs when it comes to coffee roasters in Houston. With a rare two story seating shop, this inventive coffee shop and roaster is definitely worth a visit. I ordered the iced island latte for a pricey $6. Though the cost was high, you could tell the drink was made with quality ingredients. With creamy coconut milk and ample amounts of Pandan to bring the flavor out, and a shot of espresso with charcoal, this drink was both tasty and refreshing. Coconut and Pandan is often found in Vietnamese waffles because of the incredible way they compliment each other! This surely was a treat. Next time, I would definitely try a different drink, just to explore the other options Luce has to offer. They also coffee classes and coffee tastings, which look affordable and fun! read more

The staff is really nice and the drinks are as good as I would expect from Luce. We ordered the Island Latte, which is basically a shot of espresso with pandan flavoring and coconut milk. I ordered a hot and wife ordered a cold. Both were delicious. I had pandan flavored coffee once elsewhere before and it wasn't good. Luce did it right. You can definite taste the coconut milk and the pandan flavor in this one. The espresso tags along to remind you it's still a coffee drink and drops a hint of bitterness. I recommend it, though next time I'll try something different. Plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Love the decor and clear view of their roasters, downstairs area, and workshop room. Plenty of parking space but getting out back to the street can be a drag during peak times because of traffic. You lay mercy to polite drivers in Houston to let you into the street. Based on the fliers on the wall, it looks like they offer classes and cupping events. I wish there was more info on the cupping event (couldn't find any details on their website), but I'm still tempted to try. Prices are a bit more expensive compared to some other coffee shops, but only a tad bit. It's the Heights area sort of, so it's kind of expected. This is a cute coffee shop (and roaster) located in a shopping center with decent parking. I definitely enjoyed the Pandan Charcoal Latte. There is ample seating indoors to get work done (check the receipt for wifi) or chat with a small group. Staff were friendly too. Luce in the sky with diamonds I recall checking this place out when I visited Houston last year and coming in recently after realising it's down the street from me. It's run by an efficient and friendly staff that serve awesome coffee beverages, pastries, and breakfast tacos provided by tacos-a-go-go. My vanilla latte was smooth and the right consistency, just how I prefer. The upstairs is where you can post up and enjoy your beverage while reading or jump on your electronics. It's quite spacious and gives a view of the downstairs area. It's a unique concept that allows you to relax/work in peace. I found out about Luce Coffee Roasters after a friend recommended it to me. There are two locations (this and Richmond Ave). This location is located at one of the ends in the complex, shared by other businesses. There are plenty of parking spaces. Upon entrance, there is an open barista space where you watch them do their magic in this black modern coffee shop. There are a few tables in the front of the cafe, and there are plenty of tables upstairs to work/study. Luce Coffee Roasters also hosts coffee roasting classes/lessons in the room behind the barista space. DRINKS: Cold Brew with Oat Milk (3/5): This was okay. I think my friend added too much milk to it. The amount of milk is customizable. Island Latte (Hot, 5/5): I loved it! It's not too sweet as well. They are known for Island Latte and Cream Americano! I have not tried the Cream Americano, but the Island Latte is fantastically well-blended and subtle in its own way. MontBlanc (Hot, 4/5): The foam was smooth and tasty, but I didn't completely love it. The ingredients are a mix of charcoal powder, cacao nib, coffee, vanilla and milk. Would I come back? Yes. The black island has charcoal, pandan, and coconut milk and I still can't get over how well the flavors went together. Creamy and smooth in all the best ways! The drinks we had -- sweet chocolate luccino and California dreaming-- were absolutely spectacular and refreshing for a hot day. Definitely wanted to try more drinks on their menu. It is a great place to work and study at-- quiet, but not too quiet where you can still talk and catch up with people. Coffee is okay. The real disappointment is there is no customer satisfaction guarantee. My fiancé was really in the mood for an iced latte, but was persuaded to get a vanilla iced latte by the cashier. My fiancé doesn't like sweet drinks but was assured it wasn't "super sweet". After one sip she couldn't handle it and wanted her original order. The cashier made no attempt to rectify the recommendation and chose to charge my fiancé again... The 1st time I drove by, it looked closed, but then on my 2nd pass, I looked a little closer and realized the interior was just dark and it was actually open. Inside is a little different than the typical coffee place...they are modern with just a few bars seats behind the coffee bar in the center for seating. The rest (most) of the seating is upstairs, via 2 stairways on either side of the building. They serve various muffins, pastries and even breakfast tacos which they get from Tacos a GoGo. My latte was delicious and much better than anything you'd ever get at the big name coffee places. But yes, unlike the Richmond location, this location is a 2 story cafe, with elevator access to the 2nd floor in addition to the stairs. The halls are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair so snaps for that. This round I tried a hazelnut macchiato, but I've also tried their mocha latte, Earl grey latte & Island latte (with charcoal, which I found a bit intense for my taste). They offer a milky, sweet interpretation of most classic drinks and try to remember your name as you leave. Apparently they also have roasting classes and a barista academy you can enroll in online.
