We really enjoyed our visit to this roastery. The young man that talked to us and showed us around was one of three people that were working here that were passionate about what they do for a living, who could blame them...working around all those amazing smells of roasting beans. If you call ahead, which we didn't, they'll set you up with a full on tour of their facility. We picked up a couple bags of whole beans that taste phenomenal. The Costa Rica Don Teofilo medium roast and the dark roast Costa Rican Black Pearl beans made us very happy. Another nice touch is each bag is stamped with a roast date. This place is a hidden gem and I probably shouldn't spill the beans......sorry, I couldn't help myself. Another place to find them is at the Urban Harvest Farmers Market.

Fabulous company who provided a coffee table set up for our daughter's wedding. The owner is a really nice person. He is knowledgeable and I learned a lot about coffee. The cold brewed coffee is the best i have had

I had called and spoke with Brenda back in February regarding the possibility of Java Pura catering for my daughters upcoming wedding so I had appointment today to discuss all of what Java Pura could provide the guests on a espresso and cappuccino bar. When we first walked in the smell of the fresh roasted coffee was absolutely amazing. Brenda and here staff were waiting for us and they were all so genuinely sweet and nice. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner of the company who talked to us about where the coffee originated from and the differences in the flavors and the roasting processes. My daughter tasted their cold brew and I had a hot caramel latte. We both agreed that the coffee was some of the best we had ever tasted. The cold brew actually comes in bottles that you can buy locally. Later during our meeting the owner proceeded to make us a different cold brew concoction with agave and half&half and let me tell you it was amazing. This cold brew is not the type you buy in the bottles, this was the concentrated that they sell and then you dilute. It was beyond delicious. It is only available cold in stores and it does not ship so I cannot bring it back to Florida or I would bring back a few. We have definitely decided to have Java Pura at my daughters wedding The do sell coffee right out of their corporate offices so stop by and buy coffee and be happy!

My hubby and I were searching for coffee beans in Houston and decide to head to Java Pura Coffee Roaster to buy coffee beans. We were pleasantly surprise to receive a tour from the staff and the owner, Richard. He is very passionate and knowledgeable on coffee. Also, He provided recommendations on coffee beans, which we really appreciate!! We also got to sample the expresso blend and we both agree that it taste fresh and the color of the coffee is a little more full than lighter roasts. I usually drink dark roasted coffee but the fresh medium roasted coffee bean here got me hooked! They do cater for weddings, corporate,& events too!! So, book them at your next event! Highly recommend!!

A gem of a coffee roaster.. headquartered in Gulfton, near Chimney Rock. This place is a bit difficult to find due to the aesthetic looks from the outside. You'll notice a row of standard office looking buildings. Makes it a bit of an adventure trying to locate this coffee lab. Java Pura is the local soul of the best coffee beans in Houston. You may find their products at the Urban Harvest Farmers Market, Central Market or any catering events. This lab is not a coffee shop, so don't go looking for a barista that can make you latte art. Rather the folks behind the business are incredibly passionate about their beans. They are super friendly and will give you a tour if you're interested in one. I visited a friend here and had the pleasure in viewing their machines and products up close. The beans are roasted in the lab and carefully packaged and shipped across various destinations. If you're interested in purchasing a package of coffee beans, you may do so during their business hours. The flavours are fresh and very aromatic. Grinding your beans at home will help to preserve the overall flavor. Reemerge and awaken back to life. I've been an advocate of supporting local as displayed in my 11 years of Yelp rendezvous. Java Pura is an example of supporting a business that really displays their heart and passion through their beans, packaging, and curation. Have any questions? They'll happily assist you. All things in this lab are science + art related. Once you make a switch to their beans, you'll never go back to your Folgers. Whats in your cup?

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

I ordered "The Convention" breakfast which was "Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuits" - it came with literally 20 tiny sausage patties and biscuits total. So one tiny sausage and biscuit per person. I didn't count the bacon but it was a similarly stingy portion. No one had more than two pieces. The eggs were bland. The potatoes were actually good. But overall, it was so embarrassing to have the food show up and it be these tiny trays of hardly any food for over $400. I would have been better off ordering individual dishes for each person from a local restaurant. I thought with the high Yelp and Google reviews I saw, this would be a safe bet! I also ordered a 20 mini pastries for $3.25 each which were like pastries you get at a 7/11. At least if you are overcharging, let the food be good and not like you unwrapped pastries from a Costco haul. Worst of all was the coffee which was watered down and disgusting. Everyone threw theirs out so I just dumped it. What an utter waste of money. Also they only sent 8 cups with the coffee even though the breakfast was for 20. Stingy and bland all around. If you are catering for a small group, please save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and just order takeout from a local restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the spread but I was just too upset. All I took was the coffee which you can tell even from the picture was watery. ***The menu listed the items but didn't say only 1, 1oz piece of bacon per person - that's absolutely absurd for a normal breakfast portion. Who would cater one piece of bacon per person?

I loved the food and munched on it like a starving kitten. Pandemic hits and it severely limits my ability to go to places, but I still had the old flyer. I called the order in ahead and ordered a shrimp poboy for myself, a fish one for my husband and a chicken pasta for my mother. First things first, as its technically a catering company and due to restrictions with dine in service in Fort Bend County, I don't know if the inside will ever be meant for dining service. It seems it's meant mostly for pick up, but on the other hand restaurants are operating differently with the pandemic, so I can't say for sure. Now the food. Portions are huge. Our poboys were large enough that we split them to taste the other person's meal. I felt they were some of the best poboys, I've had. Probably the only better ones are the ones from New Orleans and that's high praise as it's New Orleans influenced dining. If you want to know, I think the fried fish poboy slightly edged out the shrimp poboy. I felt the taste of the shrimp at times got lost, whereas the fish poboy and all of the other components were balanced. However, it's such a slight difference in terms of taste, that you're not losing out if you're eating the shrimp poboy. But if you are eating with someone and they don't mind sharing, I do recommend swapping half your poboy. For my mother's meal, as a picky old lady, she was content, and that's rare. It was a lot of food, it came with vegetables and corn bread. She ate it and didn't complain. To me that's high praise. The only real "knock" as that while the bread pudding is good, I know you can get better bread pudding elsewhere. Also, as it seems to be a start up business, drink options are also limited. However, I think with time there will be more drink options/ As for the bread pudding, people are either going to agree with me or not. It's still good, but I don't think that's the highlight of this caterer/restaurant. The main dishes are what makes this place unique and I'd come here for those dishes or consider this place for events like weddings and bigger parties. The food is good enough to make everyone happy and if it's for a wedding or birthday party it's not like you'll need their dessert as wedding/birthday cakes tend to be ordered at bakeries. Definitely try it, and send me a note if you agree.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see her in action, first-hand...until now and WOW! Our school was having a food truck themed summer camp, which is a very popular camp that sells out every year. The kids create their own food trucks, starting with learning the behind the scenes of starting a food truck, such as logo design, menu design, a shopping list and then they build their own truck and cook some samplers from their menus. We have real food trucks come out for the kids to see, but this year was even better because Chef Shelby came into our culinary kitchen and gave our students and teachers an experience that they will never forget. From the start, she was very communicative and full of ideas on how she could create this experience for the kids. We provided the space and she and her team took it from there and made the rest of the magic happen. She gave a lesson to the kids about kitchen safety and how to create a menu to kick off Food Truck Camp. Then, she came back later in the week and made flat bread pizzas from scratch by modeling each step and assisting the kids as they made their own. She and her team were punctual, organized and very professional! The teachers and kids had a blast!
