    Dirty Earl and crazy pineapple
    Brandon D.

Stopped by caffe and trein with my brother on the way back to Dallas. This is a Brazilian coffee shop in north Houston. I got the dirty Earl and he got the crazy pineapple. The dirty Earl includes lavender cold foam, and honestly I taste the lavender more than the Earl grey. I really liked the drink with the first few sips but later it had this weird aftertaste. The crazy pineapple is a matcha concentrate with coconut water and a pineapple cold foam. Honestly the pineapple flavor wasn't that bad but I'm not used to a tangy matcha. The matcha is also poor quality as it clumped up and had a powdery flavor. With these drinks already costing $9 before tax, I don't think I will be back

Stopped by on a Saturday morning and it was decently busy. I got a dirty earl and it was not as sweet as I expected it to be which I didn't mind. I'm thinking there's no sweetener in there so the only sweetness comes from the cold foam on top. The drink was about $9 which I fear is a little crazy, so I don't think I'd be coming back, but I do appreciate a unique coffee shop option in the Houston area

This new Brazilian style coffee shop is a great addition to the Garden Oaks/Oak forest area. I visited for a afternoon pick-me-up and was surprised that the place was mostly filled with people working on their laptops. The ambiance was pretty chill and overall pretty quiet. Pros: Quiet place if you need a spot to work, coffee is imported from Brazil which adds a different touch to your typical stuff, Brazilian type pastries including Pão de queijo which is hard to find, service was great and employees are friendly, good amount of parking, coffee in real cups with latte art was a big plus Cons: basic traditional syrups and no seasonal flavors (when I visited), too quiet if you're looking to do brunch and chit chat with friends, no outdoor patio, pastries were not fully stocked (possibly because it's still pretty new) I would definitely visit again soon since it's in the neighborhood. They barely had enough for 1 small order of pão de queijo and substituted 1 piece for a similar bread, just larger in size. Both were good, although I was kinda surprised that the bread just kinda sits out in a glass display til it is ordered. They don't exactly warm it up as it's ordered. Hopefully when I return they'll be better stocked so I can try some brigadeiros.

Vanessa and Julietta were the sweetest brewistas I've ever met. They were so sweet and inviting from the moment I walked in. I came for the dirty earl latte. So good! Clean and calming little cafe. Def will be back.

One of the best places to study and work along with their tasty food and drinks! Their pineapple matcha was so so good! I would hands down get that again! Their cheese balls were super good too! Friendly service, fast WIFI, clean spot, I'd highly recommend and come back!

This is a bit of a hidden gem in Acre Homes! It's a bit out of the way for most people, but I think it's well worth the drive. The shop itself is very minimalistic, but I like that. Lots of seating for people to get work done. HUGE parking lot. This would've been a prime studying location for me back in the day. They even have those automatic water fountains which I think is a very nice touch. I like the theme of their menu. Lots of Brazilian inspired drinks. Many unique options that I've never seen before. They even have some light bites. I tried a lavender latte just so I could taste their espresso. It was very smooth and blended well with the lavender. I also tried my friends' drinks. The dirty earl was amazing. Very beautiful drink with the blue foam on top. You could really taste the earl grey notes despite it being an iced drink with milk. I would get this again for sure. The crazy pineapple was also a pleasant surprise. I would've never thought to combine pineapple and matcha but it surprisingly works. It's light and refreshing! Overall very solid drinks here and strong concept, I wish I lived closer because I'd come here all the time!

Great new place to chill, meet up and chat. Friendly people and top notch h service. We went in the morning and there was plenty of seating and free safe parking. We loved our coffee and tea selections. My croissant had some of the best cheese ever.

The service, coffee and ambience were great even parking was easy. Located in a new strip centre . , which has green space, we'll visit again . The only thing missing vegan snacks

Super cute place and I know this is just for the cafe, but the whole facility as a whole seems so nice! This matcha w pineapple cold foam was so good! The space was really nice and bright. There were some ppl studying, but I feel like maybe it's better suited for like casual convos w friends just cause of the space and tables. You can def study here tho! And they have outlets near the wall. The service was ok, the baristas were nice for the most part, but when we first came in I was a little thrown off bc we didn't seem like welcomed by whoever was taking our orders at first. The drink prices are a little steeper than other places, but I think in the same realm as some other newer places.

Caffe Trein is always a great vibe with a sweet staff. It's clean and welcoming to all of the community--unlike other coffee shops we have visited, where you walk in and instantly feel rushed and uncomfortable, and when you look around, it's all the same type of people. Their matchas are my favorite, especially with the cold foam. I add my preferred flavorings, but the matcha açaí affogato is something you won't find anywhere else in Houston--and it's my other fave. My son loves their cheese bread (which is gluten-free), açaí, and croissants (so do I). We visit weekly and highly recommend it!

I genuinely wanted to love this coffee shop since it's constantly popping up on my social media, but unfortunately it just didn't meet expectations! The staff was friendly, and the space itself was very clean with a calm, zen vibe;definitely a nice atmosphere to sit in. However, the drinks fell short. The shaken espresso tasted more like a latte due to the amount of milk, and while the matcha itself seemed high quality, the honey matcha didn't taste like honey at all even after we asked for additional syrup. We also ordered acai bowls, which were the biggest disappointment. They arrived half full, sloppily presented, and the granola was served in a very small container on the side. For $12, especially when limited to only two toppings, you'd expect a full bowl in comparison to other actual acai spots. Instead, it felt underwhelming and not worth the price. I'm glad I was able to try it and check it off my list, but unfortunately I won't be returning.

Caffe & Trein is a nice new coffee shop I discovered in Houston through social media. Coming in I can tell it was popular based on the amount of people. But the tables clear quick and you can find a spot to sit. My only small complain is that I wish there were more wider tables in order to have your food and computer on the same table. The staff are friendly and provide you recommendations which I really enjoyed the Crazy Pineapple drink! The twist I found interesting was that they have a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school and yoga place to come and relax. Definitely going to give it a shot one of these days. Overall I'll definitely comeback, the food was great and the place was welcoming.

Thankfully, Mark was there and initially was told a 35 minute wait but seemed intent by quicker. Ambiance: 4/5 It was breakfast time so of course it was a busy time. For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

I wanted to start with one biscuit, but the biscuits come in pairs. The waitress said I could order just one anyway, but the order ended up being two. I meant to save the second one for breakfast, but that was not to be. It did not survive long enough to make it out the door. My actual meal was a bacon swiss and mushroom burger, which was excellent. Between the biscuits and the burger, I am forced to acknowledge that it was entirely too much food. Sadly, that did not prevent me from eating all of it anyway. Delicious! The restaurant, which is a diner with very basic decor, is on an approach road to IAH, and is open 24/7. When I arrived in the evening, the place was empty. By the time I left, there were a whole bunch of customers. I noticed in other reviews that people were saying they did not receive checks for their meal and felt they were over-charged at the register. I did not receive a check either, but the amount I was charged at the register seemed accurate -- and I was paying attention because I had read the other reviews first.

I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
