I've been here twice now and each time the food has been great! I came here last year for my birthday brunch and again for my birthday yesterday! The first time I got chicken and waffles and when I tell you the waffles have such a sweet and delicious taste. In my opinion it taste a bit like cornbread. The food and aesthetic here is nice, BUT the vibes are not. Almost every staff member my friends and I interacted with seemed very stressed and had an attitude. I understand a busy brunch hour is a lot, but there needs to be a mindset shift. Not to mention, there were flies everywhere. There were fly deterrent fans, but the flies were still over everything. For my matcha connoisseurs, I would not recommend ordering one here. Mine was poorly made. The color was practically white and tasted like milk with a sliver of matcha. The other location is much smaller & when busy, not as much privacy & more inclined to leave as soon as you finish eating. Food: Scrambled Eggs, onions added (9/10)- flavorful without adding any salt or pepper. Maple sausage (9/10) has a nice soft spiciness. Hash browns (9/10) are thinly shredded potatoes full of flavor. Cannot figure out what they are seasoned with. Grits (8/10)- creamy, little thick don't need to add anything to them. French toast with blueberry & lemon, (7/10)- Flavor toppings work well together, toast is soft throughout. It cooled off very fast so it wasn't really warm when I ate it. I'd try pancakes next time. This place is pretty busy on the weekend but had great reviews so I decided to go back and grab it to go during a weekday. The chilaquiles was really good. It comes with chicken and of course, all the usual ingredients in Chilaquiles but I like to get my scrambled with extra cheese added. I was a little disappointed. I really wanted to like Dandelion Cafe, but the food just did not do it for me. The space itself has a really nice aesthetic. It is large, and I was able to easily find parking, which I appreciated. I ordered the breakfast platter with eggs, hash browns, chicken sausage, and pancakes. The eggs came with shredded cheese that was not melted, which I did not enjoy. The hash browns were not my favorite, and the chicken sausage was a bit dry. The pancake was good, though. The highlight for me was the coffee. There's a sign this says you may be asked to get up because of their process. There's inside and outside seating. The menu isn't huge and they do have specials. There's a selection of breakfast items and a small lunch menu. There are cocktails of course too. I went basic since this was my first time and ordered the dandy classic - Choice of bacon, maple sausage, pollo sausage, chorizo or avocado w/2 eggs, roasted hashbrowns, choice of toast. My order: 2 eggs over easy, pollo sausage and sourdough toast The eggs were cooked perfectly over easy which was a win and the pollo sausage was so very delicious; the roasted hash browns were simultaneously crispy and tender soft at the same time and the sourdough toast was not overly dense, I did get strawberry jam which I think might be made in house. Very nice. I had a strawberry lemonade to wash it all down. You pick up your drinks at the bar and there is a buzzer that you leave on your table (has a number) and they bring the food to you. There is a little counter that has silverware, napkins and water. Overall, we had a nice experience, The staff is amazing. The cashier was friendly and not overwhelmed from how busy they were. The guy that delivered the food was so sweet and funny and the staff member that picked up our plates told us it wasn't as busy as usual - say what? I thought it was super busy. The only small thing that was a bit annoying was they charged $1 for the sourdough bread which isn't a big deal but when she asked me what kind of toast - white, wheat or sourdough, there was no mention of an up charge. I would have gotten the sourdough anyway but I like the info. It might have been listed somewhere but I didn't notice it and the cashier never mentioned it. I'm so glad Dandelion cafe was my breakfast option of the day. We got their chicken and waffles, it was honestly a big portion size so we were able to share. The chicken was really crispy and well seasoned. Pair with the syrup and spicy butter, a good combo. Their strawberry agua Fresca was delicious as well. I wasn't really impressed with the honey berry smoothie. It was thick or rich, I think requesting an alternative milk than almond milk will rectify that. read more

I ordered the Dandy Breakfast with eggs over medium, maple sausage, and swapped the toast for a biscuit with apple jam. The food itself was delicious, but about half my order came out wrong, different sausage and strawberry jam instead of what I asked for. I was starving so I just rolled with it, and what I did get still hit the spot. The space has a lot of charm. There's great outdoor seating if the weather cooperates, and the inside is cute without trying too hard. One of my favorite touches was the "make your own mimosa" setup where you can pick your own juice. Little details like that make the place feel fun and personal. I visited this location for the first time with my friend. There isn't a lot of parking available but valet is offered as an option. The place is very cozy and nice with lots of seating area. You place your order as you come in and take a pager back to your seat for your food to be brought to you. All the employees were super kind and attentive! I ordered the salmon bagel, iced matcha and chocolate muffin. I would say that my food ($13), drink ($6.5) and muffin (4.5) were affordable! I came for lunch on Saturday around 1 p.m., and the line was crazy long. I'm not sure if it was because it's a new establishment, but I ended up waiting about 30 minutes before I could place my order. Here's what I tried: 1. Big Dandy Omelette - One of the best omelets and breakfast dishes I've ever had! I really enjoyed the cheddar cheese and the filling. The sauce on top tasted like a creamy sriracha and I'd give it a 3/5 on the spice scale. 2. Chicken & Waffle - The chicken was super crispy. 3. Your food comes out in minutes and their fresh pressed juices are so fresh and refreshing. I am so disappointed by my experience at this location. I have typically frequented the Bellaire location for years! I chose this location for my Mother's Day brunch given to me by my 77 year old mother. First off, the location gives Berkeley, CA vibes and I would say very cute However, parking is limited in the front so you have to park in the neighborhood. Second, you have to order and then take a seat, which is the same at Bellaire. I'm not mad at that ... but we had to ask for the table to be wiped again as we saw that it was not done right the first time. Third, Flies, Flies, Flies... we opted for inside so that we did not have to deal with that, but it was so many flies on the inside that we could not enjoy our time and I often had to cover my food. One landed on my mom's hair and I took a picture of that. A man adjacent to our table killed two and that's the picture you see of the tissue. Oh, and they only cleaned that table and not the tissue. Seriously, when the man left he smiled and motioned to our table that he killed two. I will say the food was good, my mother was given a remake of her chipotle omelet. This was due to the heat of the chipotle, the server did not warn her about the intensity. The lemonade was subpar and lacked any real taste. I would suggest a flavor to be added. The service was a 3, food 4, location is pretty, but the flies gave it a 2. I will not return to this location. Oh, almost forgot a gnat was on the bakery good that was inclosed in the case. The chilaquiles were a flop, 4 oversized nacho chips with avocado, sauce, eggs and some sausage. The pancakes were fluffy. Coffee was not good, it tasted old. I lived in Bellaire so regularly visited the dandelion cafe in the Bellaire triangle. I ended up in the heights because I wanted a giant pancake but the location I first visited had a very long wait time. The food is just as good as I remember! My usual is the chicken and waffles but I substitute my waffle for a pancake. The chicken is very flavorful and the pancake is huge. Realistically the meals can be shared and it enough to take home! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the wait time was long and both drinks did not get made until after our food came out and I had to ask about them twice. The cashier was not very friendly and I thought it was odd because he was very chatty and friendly with the guest before me. Other than when you order there was not much interaction with the staff so I can't really rate on the customer service overall. read more

The scrambled eggs were the lightest I have ever tasted! But the star of my breakfast was the pancake! It was the fluffiest pancake I have ever had! It also had those perfectly crunchy edges that I love! I had to double up on the syrup, and I didn't even finish the pancake. I was all in the plate of the woman next to me lol. She got the new peach French toast. I'll have that right after I try the lemon blueberry French toast. Apparently both are made with the amazing sourdough bread they make from scratch. Was looking online for places nearby and came across this place only streets away so figured we'd check it out. We went late afternoon so kinda quiet which was nice, we were warmly greeted by everyone working in the front which gave a great impression already. The portions were good size and everything cooked well and fresh, coming out hot. They have variety of coffee drinks but didn't get any today. Was a little disappointed that there were no mimosas as the online menu featured them and in picking the place was a deciding factor against some others. We still decided to stay since we were there, but when arriving the menu in house said coming soon on all mimosa options, maybe note that online as well. Also it was half price pancakes but cashier charged full, maybe that's for pancake meals and not the single, not sure because I didn't make a thing over it, but if it's the daily offering, ‍. The only other thing was the signs for this place are small, did a once around the block and missed it then came around again driving slower to find it so we didn't miss it again. Lol. I really did not get the hype with this place. I've heard people rave about this place for years and my sister and I went and were underwhelmed to say the least. I ordered the chicken sandwich for brunch and it tasted as if it was fried along with someone sweet? It tasted like syrup. I was also rather annoyed they don't offer fries on the brunch menu. I had to have my sandwich with hashbrowns which were rather mushy. Our mimosa carafe sat on the counter for a good 10 minutes before I just got up and asked the servers if it was mine, they said yes and I took it back to my table myself. We went here for brunch instead of another place we were considering. I knew this was a newer location at the Heights clock tower but didn't realize this was the former Kraftsmen Baking and Cafe that I went with grad school friends a couple years ago. The line was long but moved quickly, and the owner was nice to speak with us. Since it was a nice day, we lucked out and found a spot on the patio. I appreciate the umbrellas for sun coverage. We ordered the Dandy Classic. I had the one with maple sausage, and he had the bacon. I subbed my toast for a waffle, and he had the seasonal pumpkin pancake. I enjoyed the waffle, but the butter doesn't really melt even if it's whipped. The pumpkin pancake was amazing. I like the softness of the pancake, whipped cream cheese topping, and candied pecans on top. It didn't need syrup. The pancake was also huge. Wasn't a fan of the hash browns that were stringy and didn't taste like potatoes. The maple sausage also had too much fennel or something and didn't taste great. I liked the hazelnut latte with oat milk I ordered. Not super hot but drinkable. The drinks came out first with the buzzer alerting you. The food took a while to come out and tasted a little cold. I've been here twice now for brunch/lunch. Me and my friends have enjoyed both times. The first time I had chilaquiles which were good. My friends both got the chicken and waffles and they got the same thing the second time so I'm assuming they liked it. I did try the chicken and it was yummy and not too fried/ greasy. The second time around I had the big dandy omelet which was fantastic, love the sauce on it as well. I also had a smoothie which was refreshing. I love the outdoor patio area they have. The only thing that wasn't good was the agua Frescas, they use topo Chico in it I think* and it is just a little too much and it overwhelms the flavor of the actual drink. My friend had it and didn't like it at all- luckily they were able to give her her money back. But overall we like this place and will most likely return again :) read more

I'm a breakfast lover, so when I can find a place that can do all the morning staples well, well I get happy. Loved that they have a theme and they run with it, menu and decor are floral as the name implies. Super bright yellows and fun wallpapers plastered all over are inviting. Walk up counter to order, pictures on the menu for a few items to help you decide what you want. There are some house made pastries behind the glass to tempt you and the register (no such thing as a register anymore; it's an iPad now) area, we had a fun strawberry donut. They bring your coffees and food to you. Asked on a buzzer. The food quality is the most impressive part of Dandelion. Massive fluffy pancakes, house made sausage, hand breaded chicken thighs, flavored syrups. Every dish here really sings with a hand made a purposeful touch. Came here on a Saturday morning. I called the say before to confirm reservations weren't an option but the staff shared that if we arrived before 10, we would likely be seated immediately. We opted for 9:30 and that was accurate. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers, but it didn't feel crowded. I think the aesthetic of the space -lots of light and varied seating helps. Staff was patient and friendly. They checked in on us throughout our dining experience. Our food was amazing. I had the chilaquiles and it was light, flavorful and filling. My companion had The Dandy Classic and enjoyed it. We attempted to split a stack of pancakes but couldn't put a good dent in them because our dishes were so filling. Such a cute place! Has a lot of outlets, so if you're here to study or need a place to charge up, this is perfect. I got the bagel and lox and it was delicious. It came with capers, red onion, cucumber, tomato, and a lemon. It was pretty filling. I also got an iced caramel latte with oat, pretty good and very creamy. The only issue I had while being here was the WiFi was NOT working. I don't know if it was just my computer, but I even tried rebooting it, and it just was not connecting. I saw other people were on their computers as well, I'm wondering if they also had to use their own hotspots. Other than that, great place. Would come here again.
