Delicious Sichuan & Taiwanese fare along the Main Line! I've been here a couple times now...forgot to write a review on my first visit, oops. Anyway, I've yet to have something from here I didn't like, and given how huge their menu is, it'll take a long time to repeat an order. Some of their takes are not the best I've had, and some of them are, but they're all really, really good. First, they have excellent cocktails, and lots of them. They even typically have a few mocktails for those who would like a great drink but without the alcohol. Next up, appetizers. They have an absolutely huge menu of options, including gyoza, soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and delicious item called Chengdu chicken. Way more, obviously, but that's what I took pictures of. The gyoza are pretty good, as are the soup dumplings, though the soup dumplings are sometimes too large from what you typically find. Still, they taste absolutely amazing! The scallion pancakes are quite crispy and somewhat lighter than you'll find elsewhere (that's relative though...scallion pancakes are going to be heavy, regardless). The Chengdu chicken was pretty interesting. Served with white rice, it's a sliced chicken covered in chili oil. Depending on your spice tolerance, this could be too much (it was not for me), and the flavor is quite bold. Very tasty! For entrees, it's hard to go wrong. They have traditional dishes, some of their delicacies, and so on. Their namesake noodles, Dan Dan, are as good as I've had anywhere, and the portion size is great! The garlic chicken was decent, but honestly, the three cup chicken was way better. Huge portion of diced chicken in a delicious sauce, yum! The sweet and sour beef, didn't know what to expect, and when we got it, we weren't sure what to think. But honestly, this is one of our favorite dishes! Absolutely worth giving it a shot, lightly fried and flavorful slices of beef, I mean, come on. The Jing Jiang beef was also absolutely incredible! Happened to see it on someone else's table (we've all done this), then asked the waiter what it was and ordered it. SO GOOD! Simple prep and sauce, but so, so flavorful. Lastly, the hand-ripped beef noodles were absolutely delicious! Huge noodles, great texture, huge flavor, definitely give it a shot! Service has always been great, though to be fair, I've only ever been for lunch. But I've never had any issues, and will definitely be back. Seriously, if you like Sichuan or Taiwanese fare, you absolutely need to try this place! Food is authentic, portions are large, prices are reasonable, and the taste is top notch! Not to mention, the menu is absolutely huge. You're sooner to run into the situation where you want to reorder items you love instead of trying new items long before you make it through the menu. Came here for lunch to celebrate my new job (yeah me!). I was sat right away. The staff is super nice and friendly, just the tight amount of attentiveness. I ordered the twice cooked pork belly, spring roll, fried rice and cucumbers with spicy sauce. I don't know what kind of sauce they cooked the pork belly in but it was so bomb. My only complaint was as I got to the bottom of the dish there was a significant amount of oil. Price was on par with lunch in the area. Ambiance felt a little more than casual. I had on jeans and felt almost underdressed for this place. I will absolutely come back and try another dish. read more

This place is so so good. The flavor and spice levels are spot on. Expect to break a sweat. I was honestly surprised to find Chinese food this authentic 1) at a chain and 2) outside of the city, but boy was I wrong! Wow, fantastic! My only minor concern was that the noodles apparently weren't done by hand, but everything else was perfect. 9/10. I wish I lived near this place so I could go more often. read more

Finally got a chance to try Dan Dan out on a Friday night it was packed glad we made reservations before going there. Ordered: Lychee Martini: Was good Tsingtao Beer: Always good Dumplings in Chili Oil: Flavor was good but a bit too thick and big prefer them to be on the thinner side. Chili oil was nice and spicy. Dry Pot Chicken: Great flavor served in a Chafing Wok at the table. Dry Beef Noodles: Beef was perfect and tender the noodles to thick and rich so next time will try the other noodles like the Dan Dan ones. Over all the restaurant is nicely decorated and has a full bar, the service was great, prompt and friendly, the hostesses where welcoming the food great we will definitely return soon. I love Szechuan food and I judge it by the Dan Dan noodles and the house spicy chicken. I felt like the noodles are too peanuty. I prefer mine to have more of a kick but these were underwhelming. Dan Dan has solid food nothing with a nice interior, the service is fair and even good at times. The best fish they serve is the dan dan noodles, it's full of flavor an nice and spicy. Their dry pots are really good as well with a nice spice, I tried an aroma pot during my last visit. It was interesting but nothing I would say is a much order. Not impressed. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the Soup Dumplings. The dumplings were yummy. They were warm, full of soup, and the meat was tender inside. However the Dan Dan noodles, as a signature dish were just very unimpressive. The noodles tasted like typical lo mein noodles. The only "flavor" coming through was the intense heat burning and searing my tongue off. Yes, they offer various heat levels for their dishes. I chose "very mild". Unfortunately I can confirm (since my friend ordered Dan Dan noodles as well but with "very hot" spiciness level and I tried them) that "very mild" is apparently the same as "very hot". read more

I'm a huge Old City Hahn Dynasty fan and have been dying to try Dan Dan since it opened up in Devon. When I finally made it, it didn't disappoint! Make sure to have a reservation on the weekend because it was packed. The Dan dan noodles, dumplings, and cucumbers were the showstoppers but the main dish - a ginger pork was great too. I have never been disappointed by this place from the food, to the staff, to how fast the food comes. Their menu is creative. Their drinks are good as well. We live close to the Wayne location and frequent this place. It is one of the best in the area. I literally cannot tell you my favorite meal there as I have had so many good ones there. I joined my boyfriend on a work trip to PA and we tried Dan Dan for dinner and absolutely loved it - I wish they had a location in NYC! You could tell the restaurant was brand new; it was spotless. The food was absolutely delicious and the waitstaff was super attentive & helpful. We ordered some drinks and a few dishes to share: -Wontons in chili oil -Dan Dan noodles -Dry Pot Beef -Authentic Shrimp Pot Everything was delicious, but the wontons in the chili oil were my favorite. I could put that chili oil on anything! The dishes we ordered had a lot of kick to them, but we love hot & spicy food so it was a hit. Did Somewhat tired after a long day I found Dan Dan close to the hotel. Got some steps in by waking. Chose to sit at the bar and watch the hockey / basketball games. I ate the dumplings which were a bit to carby for me and I didn't taste much filling. So I'd pass on them if I went back and left 1/2 of them. Maybe a good item to share amongst a group. My main was the scallions with chicken. It was quite good and hit the spot. Wasn't spicy but the menu offered a good range of spice levels. I had a old fashioned and it was ok but not a signature drink. I like the cherry and old fashioned fixin's so i guess I'm spoiled. Got to be careful. Service was good and the server gave some solid suggestions as opposed to those times when your server claims everything is good without listening to what you're telling them you like / feel in the mood for. Good job! On the would I go back I'd say yes there so more stuff I'd like to try out. read more

The worst customer experience I have had at a restaurant in the last five years. We ordered two pork soup dumplings. The dumplings were 5/10. The dumplings came without a spoon for the sauce. We asked for a spoon from our server; he never brought it; we kept waiting and could see him 10 feet away doing something else. We finally asked someone else to bring us a spoon, and they brought the biggest spoon they could, which made it difficult even to get the sauce. We asked for more sauce, and they took the sauce we currently had to bring more. The server came back with more sauce without a spoon, lol. I was annoyed but was ready to let it go.We ask for another spoon and get the second biggest spoon. We ordered spicy cucumber, eggplant with garlic sauce, and green pepper chicken next. Eggplant and cucumbers were average at best. The chicken was decent. Now comes the part which pushed us over the edge. We just had not even finished eating, and the server asked us if we were done and if we wanted the check. We asked him to give us a few minutes. Within the next 5 minutes, he comes back and asks us the exact same question. I get that they were busy, but it is not like we ordered one appetizer, and we are just wasting time there. I wanted to get a dessert but didn't even get a chance to get it as the server was more interested in driving us out. I would never come back! HORRIBLE experience! read more

This is first time I had to give them 2 stars. I been here few times but this time was very disappointed. Chicken has no taste at all. I also order the Taiwanese sausage fried rice forgot to take pic. Rice is good only thing was I ate some many pieces of old hard rice. And when I ask the server he said maybe the chef use the old rice and he will ask the chef to use new rice and make new order. I was speechless. Been here few times. The ambiance is nice but can be a bit warm in my opinion. Service is ok except once when they were short staffed. I do wish it can be improved if the host can make a visit to check on the customers when the wait staff is clearly busy. The manager seems to be incognito. I do think upper mgmt needs to mix with customers to give an extra touch. Food! The food comes out at room temperature. I understand it helps eat faster, but warm food can be more tasty and can make our brain eat more. The cumin lamb is always the winner. The scallion pancake is too. Visiting King of Prussia, PA for the weekend and found this wonderful authentic Szechuan/Taiwanese place. Went there with a friend and we loved every dish we had: Dan Dan noodles, Twice cooked fish, Spicy Soft Tofu Pot staff was a young man sorry can't remember his name he was amazing came over with a smile and told us dishes are all served family style but we still ordered too much for two ladies!! Last Friday evening had reservations (which they said they didn't have) okay finally got seated, ordered and server serves me first and keeps my date waiting; in the meantime flies are buzzing around and it looked to be patrons were swatting away. Cocktail was delivered as a "mini" and considering the large ice cube was really a disappointingly little drink - especially since the drink tasted very good. Ah-mazing! Best Chinese food I've had in the Philadelphia-ish area and great portions! I came here during COVID and there were outdoor and indoor seating. For a lunch time during the weekend, not too crowded, but still a good amount of people. Service is okay -- think they're a bit short on staff. However, food is stellar! The Asian food tastes pretty authentic -- loved them all! Szechuan noodles and shredded potatoes were definitely my favorite (as a vegetarian). The Wayne location is definitely bigger but the one in Philly has an upstairs. Never had issues getting a seat. The service is always good. The service was attentive and prompt - excellent. Food - the Dan Dan noodles were excellent, as was the garlic bok choy. The chicken potstickers were a bit of a let down - I wondered if they were bought and cooked from frozen, as was the scallion pancake. While it was nice and crispy, scallions are the whole point of a scallion pancake and it barely had any. Prices are overall reasonable, and I'd go again even though the menu is a bit uneven. read more
