Like everyone repeats, it is like a Japanese 99cents store but at $1.50 excluding some very few items that will be $4-$6 (price as marked while anything not is $1.50). Which also means you are at risk at buying a ton of junk you don't really need. This place has EVERYTHING. Super clean and organized. - There's the kitchen section with items so cute, you want to kill something (like my teddy bear plastic cutting board and little brown teddy bear head plastic mini cutting board). - The container/bucket selection in the back will make you swoon. - There's a beauty section with silkworm cocoons, eyelashes, make up, nail bling, etc. - The bathroom section has everything you can imagine but in the shape of cats, frogs, ducks, piggies. - The gift, stationery section. Don't let me go there. Items so sweet & adorable you'll get cavities. Great variety of ways to pretty up gifts for people. - There's even a sports section! I bought my sister a badminton racket set (2) that came with 1 birdie for $1.50 and bought a pack of birdies for $1.50! - Hats, socks, laundry mesh bags, towels, office supplies, etc. - Lots of Hi-Chew packets for $1! No sale price like other stores who charge more. Just $1. And they have the variety bags for $1.50. For Hi-Chew fiends like myself, this is Hi-Chew heaven. The list never ever ends. So if I feel like buying something cute to replace something at home I busted, it's so worth it. Even the damn shopping carts are adorable! Mini sized everything. The staff is friendly and helpful if you need anything plus they won't bother you. There's even non Japanese employees that speak Japanese! How cool is that ;). Minimum for credit card charges is $10. All sales are final with no exchanges. I always end up spending at least $10 and having lots of fun goodies. I was in the El Cerrito Daiso May 4, 2020. There was no control of the number of people entering. There was no one disinfecting carts, nor pay keypads, nor countertops between customers. They have the supplies they need as an essential business with the privilege of being open throughout this tragedy of lost life, and permanent lung damage and heartt problems for many that recover. The saddest thing is the complete lack of regard and concern for their employees risking their health to work. I did not feel safe shopping there. read more

This is a cool little Japanese Chain that sells everything in the store for $1.50 unless they mark it otherwise. What sets Daiso apart from your regular .99 cent type of stores is the fact that they sell the coolest little items that a lot of other stores dont sell. The items range from candy and food items to office supplies, cleaning supplies, decorations and much much more. They have a coulpe of locations in California so if your near by i have to urge you to check it out. read more

I didn't realize how popular Daiso was in Japan until my aunt kept mentioning it. It's pretty awesome and has a lot of the things my aunt would bring us as presents. I love the plastic containers and other Benito box supplies. They seem to have a pretty big selection of items- some of the things are reminiscent of a normal dollar store, but a lot of things seem higher quality. read more

I loved this store, everyone was so nice and helpful. The kitchen and bath items are cheap and look like they are decent quality. Also, they have a lot of unique items, like bowls and tea cups for cheap. Snacks and cosmetics too, I actually grabbed some chocolate koalas on the way out. They were amazing! My family loves to shop at Japanese dollar stores. They have all sorts of crap you never new you needed. My hubby grabbed a arm full of colorful small 'tupperware' for his lunch. I got a 2liter pitcher to fit our mini fridge. My friend Debbie got a couple of shower items. We would've shopped more but the AC was not working or on high enough. It was too hot and crowded to continue to shop in there. My friend through her crap in my basket and walked out because she thought she was going to pass out from the heat. I love this place, but today the burly female cashier was so rude to me. I'd purchased Halloween headbands from here last year and decided to wear one on my outing today. I came into daiso and brought my merchandise up to the cashier to pay, and she sternly asked if I'd paid for the headband on my head. I said, "it's mine; I got it last year." I avoided this store for so long thinking it was all food. BOY WAS I WRONG! Most things are a buck fifty, and it's almost all amazing. Picked up office supplies as teacher Christmas gifts, (cute post it style flags, clip boards, spiral notebooks, erasers shaped like tiny food, a white out tape pen that looks like a duck), Christmas headbands, and a sink mat to keep the dishes from scratching it. Alright, everything about this place is WONDERFUL EXCEPT FOR ONE EVENT I WITNESSED. For the 99% of the time I have been here, all the employees have been very kind, especially the ones working around the isles. However, I witnessed an employee being extremely rude during my visit a few weeks back. I was at the cashier to buy my items and an old lady was behind me. The cashier next to mine helped her out. Now, the old lady seemed like she barely spoke any english whatsoever and it turns out that she had gone into the wrong line since she had card, not cash. The cashier that was helping her. She rudely and bluntly told the lady she was in the wrong line. She then LOOKED AT MY CASHIER, THEN ROLLED HER EYES...IN FRONT OF ME. Her body language practically said, "Are you effing kidding me right now?" This might not seem like a big deal but I thought that was overly rude. Especially since the lady was old., give her a break bitch. I really wanted to say something on the spot because I felt bad for her but I decided not . 5 stars regardless because I frequent here and everything is perfect every time I visit except for that RUDE EMPLOYEE WHO NEEDS TO LEARN BETTER MANNERS. My boyfriend & I finished eating at Bruxie and decided to walk over here before heading out to LA. It was my first time here so I was pretty impressed that they can manage to sell EVERYTHING at the low price of $1.50/item (even though some things were made in China.. not Japan). We took our time walking down each aisle, and even purchased a couple of cute items! They have a lot of home supplies so we bought some slippers and bowls. My only disappointment was how there is a $10 credit card minimum so we were forced to scrape out every dollar/quarter (since we do not like carrying cash). I love Daiso! However, I'm a little disappointed that their shelves were very empty each time I went and products disappeared and reappeared very sporadically. I couldn't find any consistency with the products that were out on shelves one day versus the products that were out the next week. First disappointment was that not all items are made in Japan. You would have to look and buy the one that isn't made in China. It's crowded in the weekend and the isles are narrow. Jesus! I dropped an item and this stupid japanese lady got all pissed off and starts organizing around me like a psycho. Mind you nothing broke. So ridiculous! And getting in my way so I handed her the rest of my items in my hand that I was looking at just before I dropped the merchandise. I basically felt like a kid at a candy store but instead no candy but full of stuff! I love that EVERYTHING is $1.50. I got out of this place with SO MUCH STUFF! It was amazeballs. I got bowls, chopsticks, cleaning supplies, veggie peelers, bento accessories... all for less than $20! The store is initially overwhelming, being very busy and very pink. Plan to be in here for a while as its really a treasure hunt.
