Why do I absolutely love going down to Irvine? It's because of Daiso, well that and Beard Papas (green tea cream puffs, omnomnom!!!), but mostly for Daiso. This store has everything. And for cheap too. Most stuff is $1.50, though a few things are a dollar or two more. The dishes choice is better than all of the chain grocery stores, as are the cooking tools and storage stuff. Soaps, cleaners, window shades for your car, boxes, baskets, etc. It's a lot of choice in here. Plus, all of the usual cute Japanese office supplies that you won't be able to leave the store without. I wished they really stayed true to the $1.50 everything, but a few stuff is like $1.75 to $5.00. So random to throw stuff there. It's basically an Asian version of a 99 cents store, but they carry a lot of erratic items, some can be cute to some actually quiet useful, yet silly. It's kind of hard to describe Daiso, but it's an experience for sure. A few things I didn't like about this Daiso is that the employees cannot help you as much (limited English), no public bathrooms (I figured that out after spending an hour in there), they don't give discounts on broken items (found a cracked coffee mug and it was chipped), not everything is labeled in English (all Japanese, sometimes English labeled, but it's translated word-for-word). read more

For me, I try to avoid buying Japanese products when I basically can't afford them. I usually buy Korean or Chinese. However, Daiso is a huge shopping experience exception for myself and my family. Daiso sells the raddest $1.50 items. Usually when I buy junk, I never use them or use them at least once. However, whenever I bought many items at Daiso, I literally use them every day. Daiso sells the most useful products and items to make anyone's life easier and pleasant. Seriously useful... Of course, the quality of their items is higher quality compared to many stuff at the 99 Cents Only store since they are 50 cents more on average. You will not find many items at Daiso equivalent or identical to other items in the 99 Cents Only store. There is no refund or exchange policy at Daiso, which is negative, but Daiso deserves a high 5 since you really can't find a better deal at any other $1 store. Despite their strict no refund policy, I was able to refund a broken flashlight which does not work. I need to show proof of purchase with a receipt, which is somewhat of a pain, but I understood why they have to do this since they are so cheap compared to Walmart or Target. Trust me. You may have pay double or triple at Target or Walmart or worse, you may need to buy them on Amazon or ebay and pay a huge shipping fee. read more

I walked in with my friend and we notice something, its really really pink inside. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate pink, its just that well for those who don't like pink, tough luck. They have so many things, and I wanted to buy everything in the store... but I had to hold myself back, being a college student i'm already broke. Well its kind of a good thing some supplies are so cheap then right? Just remember, costs stack up easily and before you know it, you have about 20 dollars in your basket. Down to why it doesn't get 5 stars in my book. I buy a lot of things, from many places and I have come to realise that many things bought at stores for a very cheap price will fall apart after using it once. Japanese dollar store decorated in pink. They have these types of dollar stores all over Japan with more selections than the daiso store in irvine. Everything is very well organized here. There's just aisles and aisles if stuff. Majority is 1.50 unless otherwise marked. They had everything from valentine items, gardening tools, makeup, lashes, Tupperware, soap, undies etc. There's 2 lines one is cash only and the other is credit cards. I went on a Sunday afternoon and the lines were not that bad. I'm not a real big shopper of the dollar stores because I end up buying junk just laying around my house but I would definitely Go here than the dollar chain store. Example - I went to Daiso to buy pens, highlighters, and chalk, and walked out with pink car wash supplies? A pink bucket, pink microfiber wash cloths, and pink sponges were totally on my shopping list, right? Nope. Everything in this store is $1.50 unless otherwise marked. I mean even a nice apron is $1.50 vs other stores are at least $12-$16. This store has everything from A to Z, for instance: kitchenware, decorative items for parties, gift wrap papers, goodies bags, kids toys, picnic supplies, school supplies, apparel, scrapbook supplies, household supplies, and much more. They have the cutest stuffs ever, with decent quality. I cannot walk out of this store without buying something . Daiso.... Japanese dollar fifty store. LOVE. The best things to get for spring gardening are the awesome pots and planters! You can't get planters anywhere else that cheap. I also love the drain screens to keep the drainage hole from getting clogged with dirt. The crafts and sewing section is pretty well stocked. It has saved me from having to go all the way to Michaels many times! There is cool new stuff all the time, even my husband likes going to Daiso and that means that Daiso is basically the Disneyland of dollar stores. My only complaint would be the really annoying and IMO stupid check out system of separating the lines for credit/ debit and cash.... People are confused every single time I go there (which is like once a week) and it seems like its a pain for the employees too. Also, another minor complaint is the really really terrible Japanese Christmas music they have been playing since Thanksgiving. Also, some stuff is completely in Japanese, so you can't even really tell exactly what the product is. read more

If you watch Korean/ Japanese dramas, you'll probably be able to find stuff they use here such as, liquid chalk blackboard markers or bento making supplies. Everything they sell is cute. I love this place. Every time I come in I find products that I didn't even know existed before I entered, but suddenly I must have them in my life. Cute school supplies, an interesting mix of crafting/sewing supplies, gift boxes/wrapping, tons of ceramic dishes and cups, kitchen and cooking utensils, and funny little decorative items are my usual purchases. I keep lots of cute things on my desk at work and at home, and most of the time when people ask me where I got them, the answer is "Daiso". If you have kids and you want to let them "shop" somewhere but not spend more than a few dollars, this is a great place to let them pick out their own items. There are tons of fun stickers, toys, decorations, snack cases, notebooks, pens, stuff for their rooms, holiday decorations, etc. that they'd love. Also a great place to find items for party favors. I'd say about 99% of the products in the store cost $1.50, and anything that costs more is marked with the other price. If it's unmarked, it's $1.50. They take credit cards for purchases over $10. Debit cards or cash are fine in any amount. The lines at checkout are broken up into two lines -- one for cash, and one for cards. So you'll have to figure out how you want to pay before you get in line. All sales are final. I have yet to bring a friend or family member here who didn't love it and find fun little surprises to leave with. Fun side trip to pick up odds and ends that turned out to be a boon because I picked up things I had not expected like the mini tripod I bought online for $10 was only $1.50 here. My friend bought tons of kitchen stuff. For me it was an easy off the 5 in August, not the holidays, and into the shopping center. I always park on the outskirts of the lot since it's a narrow parking lot so really I walk 10 spaces and I am in the store. Ahhh my wallet hates this store! I always find so much and go over whatever budget I promised to stick to before I enter the store. Oops? Daiso offers so many products it's hard not to get off track here and for the prince ($1.50 but some items are marked for $3) it's okay because you won't be too hard on yourself. From crafts to dinnerware and make up to cleaning supplies, this is a great place for items that can add up real quick at other places. Sometimes the quality isn't there, however you can tell by picking it up in the store. Staff aren't mean they just don't really acknowledge you that much. Some of the other customers can be pushy or think it's okay to hang out in the middle of an aisle - not the stores fault, just something I experience here more so than some other stores. They offer some delicious candies, snacks and drinks as well. My favorite are the milky candies that I fell in love with at a Korean BBQ Place. I searched on Amazon for them and they were so expensive, and 1 bag here is the $1.50 price - WINNING! I also love picking up crafting supplies from here! For planner addicts and all that fun stuff - they have lots of decorative tapes, some washi, some lace with the sticky back, it's all super cute! They have great gift bags as well, I got some plain bags in a set of 3 or 5 (I forgot) which I like to add stickers too for presents. They also have a great bin/organizing section in the back of the store [: If you have an empty afternoon and love bargains and cute products, I'd recommend at least checking this place out and walking around to see what they offer. One thing that I HATE is their return policy! Absolutely no returns or exchanges, so make sure you're 50000000000% sure on what you're buying, and make sure nothing is missing or broken. This place is basically a Japanese higher-end cuter version of the 99 cent store, except that everything is $1.50. Everything is soooo cute there, I literally want to buy the whole store! I bought adhesive and when I opened it, I found out it is dry. I called the store and the person who took my call just told me with no emotion that I cannot return it. It doesn't make sense Why they sell us defective products and I cannot return it? She told me when manager is there. I called the store around 3pm and she said manager is there in the morning......I live 25 miles from there and I just happened to be there so I wanted to stop by the store and return it But I ended up not going to the store at all. I was in the El Cerrito Daiso May 4, 2020. There was no control of the number of people entering. There was no one disinfecting carts, nor pay keypads, nor countertops between customers. They have the supplies they need as an essential business with the privilege of being open throughout this tragedy of lost life, and permanent lung damage and heartt problems for many that recover. The saddest thing is the complete lack of regard and concern for their employees risking their health to work. I did not feel safe shopping there. read more

They sell all kinds of kitchenware and all the dishes are decent quality not like the dollar tree and 99 cent stores. However, what I love here is all the snacks! I went nuts and bought a bunch of gummy candy, chocolate, snow pea crisp. However, the variety here is huge and it's definitely cheaper than places like Tokyo life and most markets. My first Daiso experience was in Monterey Park. It was super packed, you had to climb over people in order to get by. So when my girlfriend and I went to out to eat, and I saw a Daiso in Irvine, I told her we have to stop by. Yes, everything in the store 1.50 unless otherwise marked, but it's still worth the money. Walked out with a usb wall and car charger for just $3.00! This one isn't as packed as the Daiso in Monterey Park, but they still carry the same things. Parking is plentiful since it is located in a shopping district. They have a cash line and a debit/credit card line, and they don't honor refunds. If I'm in the area, will definitely have to stop by here again to see what they have in stock! read more

I loved this store, everyone was so nice and helpful. The kitchen and bath items are cheap and look like they are decent quality. Also, they have a lot of unique items, like bowls and tea cups for cheap. Snacks and cosmetics too, I actually grabbed some chocolate koalas on the way out. They were amazing! Poor quality items even for a dollar store. I bought a stainless steel bowl, the paper label and sticker on the bowl won't come off as if it was super glued to it. The sticker says the bowl will get dark and rust after several washes! It sucks that you can't return anything as all the sales are final. They also use arsenic in all their products, colors, plastics and paints that is known to cause cancer. It's different than DEHP that may cause birth defects. That's why they have posted the health hazard warning on every isle to let them do business in California. read more
