Has everything I need for a decent price. They are very rigid with the refund policy so don't buy anything you don't need. Also sometimes their candy is not always the cheapest. It's basically an Asian version of a 99 cents store, but they carry a lot of erratic items, some can be cute to some actually quiet useful, yet silly. Let's just say this is the best garage sale I have ever been too! It's basically a .99 store but really it's a 1.50 store. If pink is your color, like Pepto pink, then this is the place for you. Very cool for home goods such as bento box items, containers, snacks, etc. Very clean and organized. It was busy on the Saturday we visited so we opted for the cash line by the beverage coolers. It was also warm in the store. Pick up 1.50 silicone cupcake cups or bento boxes, chopsticks, plate, cups, etc etc. It can really be a day trip then visit Beard Papa next store for a vanilla puff...original puff with vanilla cream or one of the other Asian/ethnic flavors in the nicely remodeled strip mall. I am so happy that they opened a store in Irvine. I used to go with my grandma to one of the Daiso stores when I lived with her in Oita, Japan. I love all the random stuff that they have in the store. For people who dont know, it is the japanese version of the dollar store. Love this place ! Most things are $1.5 which include hangers, bags, and others for kitchen and home. One thing though is that you cannot return your purchase after. I walked around jaw-dropped almost the entire 1 hour I was browsing in there. How can everything be $1.50!? Even two badminton rackets and a birdie?? They have beyond everything you can think of! I was headed to a basketball game for my cousin's kids. I had some time to kill so, since I had gifts for the kids, I was able to run in and grab some really inexpensive wrapping paper. Luckily, they had regular wrapping paper with no fuss. It's quite big! Looks like they took over a supermarket. The line system is easy to figure out and not cramped like the Monterey Park location. They even have little fake Xmas trees so if you need any cheap and cute table decor for Christmas, this place has it! I think it's the largest Daiso in SoCal. It's definitely larger than the one in artesia, but not as big as NorCal. Either way, same great 1.50 crap. It's definitely worth a visit to find craft stuff, organizing stuff, toiletries etc. I actually found Hokkaido creme bread there so I was "happy,happy happy" in the words of duck hunter. read more

I was pretty excited to find out there was a Daiso in Irvine, considering this was a popular store chain my study abroad friends and I patronized in Taipei. Hits: * Most items are priced at $1.50. * The cashiers (who all happen to be chicks) will warn you when you're charged for something above $1.50, just to make sure if you still want the item. I knew I was splurging with a $3 water pitcher, but that was a nice gesture on Daiso's part. * A great spot to pick up college party essentials (6-pack beer pong balls, colorful cups) ... if only they also had kegs of beer for $1.50. * Clean, organized, and elegant for a discount store * Porcelain (or clay?) sake sets for $10. I guess Life Plaza got away with ripping me off for years! * It was fun making fun of all the fobby merchandise here (cat's out of the bag - I bought a face brush to see how it worked), and is it necessary that every nori cracker has to be individually wrapped? Misses: * I don't think the Ca$h line is any faster than the credit (Mastercard/Visa only) one * The selection was mildly disappointing -- we circled the entire store twice in an hour I'm sure I can live without a banana case, but there are some handy gadgets I could pick up my next time here. read more

There's a lot of house hold goods here that you can buy for $1.50 and easily replace later on if it breaks. For me, I try to avoid buying Japanese products when I basically can't afford them. I usually buy Korean or Chinese. However, Daiso is a huge shopping experience exception for myself and my family. Daiso sells the raddest $1.50 items. Usually when I buy junk, I never use them or use them at least once. However, whenever I bought many items at Daiso, I literally use them every day. Daiso sells the most useful products and items to make anyone's life easier and pleasant. Seriously useful... Of course, the quality of their items is higher quality compared to many stuff at the 99 Cents Only store since they are 50 cents more on average. You will not find many items at Daiso equivalent or identical to other items in the 99 Cents Only store. There is no refund or exchange policy at Daiso, which is negative, but Daiso deserves a high 5 since you really can't find a better deal at any other $1 store. Despite their strict no refund policy, I was able to refund a broken flashlight which does not work. I need to show proof of purchase with a receipt, which is somewhat of a pain, but I understood why they have to do this since they are so cheap compared to Walmart or Target. Trust me. You may have pay double or triple at Target or Walmart or worse, you may need to buy them on Amazon or ebay and pay a huge shipping fee. read more

Probably the best thing to come around since the Dollar store. Everything here is so girly, cheap, cute, and not bad quality for $1.50 or so. It's like a tiny cutesy version of Target. Everything you can find or not need is here. The thing that peeves me the most is their lack of customer service. They have loads of registers in the front but only 2 people mending it. What's the point of the others? It forces you to wait longer and such. One item that I bout was marked $6 but the machine rang it up as $8 the manager said that it was missed marked. I can understand that but it's not my fault so he should have given me the marked price. His cheap ass decided that it's not his fault either and I should pay $8. The Japanese version of a 99 store but better! There are so many cute things here! Most items are $1.50 with some items priced a lil higher. There are so many items and boy does this store draw in a crowd, be prepared to wait in line to purchase your items. I bought this double usb port car adapter two years ago..and it still works! The Japanese version of a "dollar store" has hit Irvine! Almost everything inside of Daiso is only $1.50! And like a dollar store, the products range from food, to crafts, to gardening supplies. What more can you ask for? Much of the stuff have your typical Asian/Japanese cutesy designs, but if you go bat-crazy grabbing everything in sight, you can end up with a mish mash of crap that will clutter your home. Shopper be warned: try not to get caught up in the price and pick your items scrupulously! No returns, no exchanges. And the lines can get totally cray-cray! I LOVE this place. On my most recent visit to Irvine, I swung by just to look around because it was in the plaza. I do not regret it all. They have TONS of stuff (from snacks to laundry poles). You could buy bowls, mugs, pitchers...all for $1.50! Pretty awesome. They carry those plastic cases for paper (not the best description...I know) that usually sell for 5-10 buck at Japanese bookstores, stationary places for, you guessed it, $1.50! They carry lots of candy and some drinks too. I had gone to Mitsuwa earlier that day and picked up a can of UCC coffee for nearly $2. I should have just come here instead! Lots of craft supplies as well that you can get on the cheap. This place is heaven if you're running on a really tight budget. The quality isn't terrible compared to American dollar stores. After going to Daiso for the first time in San Francisco, I heard from friends that they actually have a location here in Orange County. I got to this location 5 minutes before they opened and I had very to little expectations. The moment they officially opened the doors, the employees lined up and greeted all the early birds like myself. I was given a cart that held two baskets (now that's service for a $1.50 store). I honestly love Daiso for the variety of things that they sell: stationery, home supplies, organizational things for work spaces, gifts and gift wraps, and even gardening tools! A lot of people say that it's more of a place for girls to shop at, but I concur - there are plenty of "manly" things there too. From gadgets to tools to even food! I picked up a few coffee mugs for my significant other and myself and they were far from "girly". I gave Daiso 5 stars for the organization of the store, the very amazing customer service, and the fast check out line. read more

Everytime I go to Japan, I spend $$$ at daiso stores and come back to OC with a lot of daiso items from Japan ( I don't mind paying extra charge for heavy luggage lol), but I don't have to do that anymore ! I am so very glad that I now know of this amazing shop!!! For the most part, everything is $1.50 or less. The quality of the items is very good, much better than you would expect for the price. The store is very organized and very clean. Bought the widest array of items; soup bowls and children size chopsticks, Halloween children masks made out of material (a pumpkin & a black kitty), mechanical pencils, notebooks, a pencil sharpener, tape, marbles, a wooden snake, a lint shaver for sweaters, and an assortment of crackers and cookies.
