Loved daiso. Lots of great finds. Good for art shows and love their kitchen stuff. And containers

I'm very glad to have a Daiso near me now! I first got introduced to this store down in San Diego, and I loved its cheap prices and variety of Japanese goods! I don't like the fact that there is a minimum total purchase in order to use debit or credit, but I guess it's because of the fees associated with companies using these types of cards per transaction. Because of the minimum, it makes me buy more than I want in order for me to use my card. Additionally, the cellphone signal is horrible inside Daiso. You'd have to use your phone outside of the building because once you're inside, there's no signal at all. Overall, I do love this store, but you barely have any cell signal (I'm AT&T) inside or outside the store. I love how readily accessible my favorite Japanese sweets are in the store and the fact that Daiso's location is in the newly renovated Willows Plaza and next to the Veranda Plaza as well! read more

Typically I'm not a fan of discount stores. I've always had the impression these items are defects or overstocked items. That may well be true in some cases, but not all. Take for example, I've found gardening items more than half the cost cheaper than Home Depot. You can't go wrong with gardening pots and stakes. These are disposable items. Also, I've found this place to be good for camping trips as well. When camping, I prefer items that I'm not so attached to. If it gets lost or stolen, so be it. On a couple of visits, they had their air conditioner shut off on very hot days. That alone ruined the experience. That place was like a sauna! Got my stuff and was out of there. All good. read more

9/24/2023 6:57pm: An employee locked the door as I was walking up. There were tons of customers still in the store. Posted hours online said open until 8pm. Posted hours on the building also said open until 8pm. I understand wanting to close up a few minutes early but closing over an hour early is just bad business. The woman who locked the door also pretended like she couldn't see me... she proceeded to chat with a coworker while I gently knocked on the glass right in front of her to get her attention. Honestly a borderline dehumanizing experience. I'm really only writing this review because I saw others also had a similar experience. All the woman had to do was kindly let me know they need to close early tonight, even through the glass... and I would have understood. Hopefully this changes because these kinds of interactions really suck. read more

OMG! This is a dollar store on steroids. It has all kinds of Japanese goodness. There are back-to-school items, knick-knacks, organization fun and candy, loads of candy. This was my first Daiso experience and it was all to overwhelming, but I kid you not... I cannot wait to go back. I visited the one in the Willows Shopping Center. Who knows how long this store has been here, but its fabulous. This place is great for disposable items. read more

I love Daiso! I learned about Daiso when I lived in Japan! Everything is the shop in Japan is 150 yen! While the US Daisos have a fluctuating price point, most items are around $1.50! It's awesome! This is the type of store that when you wander in you might be looking for something in particular, but you'll likely walk out with a bunch of other items you didn't realize you needed until you saw them! They have everything from school supplies to Tupperware to kitchen gloves to planters. The range of products is very broad, but while there certainly are some decorative junk or chotskies, there are certainly a lot of useful items at great prices. I've purchased kitchen tools here and I also recently bought 10 decorative clear plastic bowls that I drilled holes in the bottom and used as succulent planters for the centerpieces at my wedding. We weren't sure if that was the container we were going to go with and they didn't have 10 in stock at the time, but they said if they had the model number, they could order them for us. They're happy to order anything for you. I thought the customer service here was really nice. I'm fan of Daiso! I almost always find something I want, so don't go in if you aren't open to buying something. Last time, I ended up buying some cute slip on open-air flats that my coworker called My Little Mermaid shoes. I use them as cute water shoes! Love them! You'll find things here that you don't see elsewhere. read more

WTH? I can't believe I forgot to review this.... yelp problems. If I forget to check-in I forget to write reviews ha ha Dang I miss living in San Diego since Daiso was right on my street. I used to go once a week to see what goodies I could find. I was so glad to hear that they opened a Daiso location in Concord. It's not that close to me but still not bad. I remember years ago before I moved away I used to go to Daiso in Berkeley, Alameda and Milipitas Great Mall. Nice to finally have a location towards this side of the East Bay. I went here the day after Halloween and I'm not sure if it's because the store is still new but damn did they have so many empty aisles in front. The definitely do not have that much inventory. I wanted to buy some boot inserts, the kind you blow up like a balloon to hold the shape of your boots. They usually have it at other Daiso locations but they didn't have it here :( They also don't have that much scrapbooking accessories as other stores. I wanted to make my boyfriend a cute scrapbook of us ha ha The one good thing that I found here was a USB cord for iPhone 6! It works so well! I was actually about to buy a pricey one from Best Buy but decided to wait since my cord stopped working. Thank God Daiso came to the rescue! I was hesitant at first to buy it thinking it would probably not work or be cheap quality but damn two weeks later and it's working great so far! read more

Fun store! Super cheap and entertaining to shop at for children and adults. Toys aren't very good quality but you get what you pay for and you pay very little at daiso. But I purchased a lot of glassware from there and it's great read more

I have been to quite a few Daisos (5 in Japan, 10+ in California). Believe you me, I get the excitement when one finally graces your local neighborhood. Still, this would not be a Daiso I'd want to visit. + There's one that Martinez, Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek can get their fix on - Parking - Lots of pedestrians - Narrow aisles in the store, and strangely a lot of parents with carts. It almost felt like a Walmart - Poor aisle layout, including the exit-blocking horizontal row of items - Near empty food aisles - Not the greatest selection compared to SoCal, Fremont, and SF locations Located in The Willows Shopping Center, just to the left of Fuddruckers, let's start with the obvious: it's hard to get in and out of this parking lot and to find decent parking. Sure, the parking is plentiful, but parking rows are short which means you must contend with pedestrians everywhere. You finally get in-store, and guess what? Narrow aisles and people compulsively driving around empty carts. Plus there's this one awkward aisle that basically blocks of the entire store from the checkout/exit. It felt like Walmart cart dodgeball mixed in with the frantic search at Ikea looking for section shortcuts. I wasn't impressed with the selection here, especially for an outdoor/strip mall location. I'd expect this in an dense urban setting like SF or Berkeley, but it was underwhelming to see this for Concord. OVERALL: Go to a different Daiso, if you've got the time. Otherwise, only come here if you need something very specific and you know they carry it already. read more

Probably one of my favorite stores since moving from Chicago. Every time I go to Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Target, etc for something small, I wonder if I could have gotten it at Daiso and usually it is a yes. Items are priced wonderfully especially their grocery items such as dried soba noodles, udon noodles or dashi granules. Those items cost at least $5 in the store whereas these cost around $1.50-3. Plus I love Japanese minimalism with logos so this store fits my aesthetic. Parking can be difficult sometimes because there are many stores and restaurants around. read more

(Dai-Soh ザ・ダイソー) is a 100 Yen (One U.S. Dollar) store founded in Japan by Hirotaki Yano (In proper japanese naming style Yano Hirotaki since it's common in japan to announce yourself by last name first) in 1977. Briefly going by the name "Yano Shoten" Daiso or now taking on names of countries or states locations are added such as Daiso Japan, Daiso Hong Kong, Daiso New York and now.....Daiso California. In Concord in The Willows shopping center (I do security there) we have a branch of the fast growing chain. Do you like interesting trinkets? Green Tea flavored..things? Ramune? Hi-Chew? well they have it here! Here are my thoughts.. September 4, 2016 Sunday - 8:05 pm Myself and 2 fellow guards were rotating post at Daiso. Atmosphere 5/5 Product 4/5 Service 4/5 Background - Daiso finally decided to set shop up in this side of the East Bay. Atmosphere - The Willows is a pretty hip and active shopping center. Plenty of seating around the complex. Daiso is small but its bright and inviting. Very appealing to the eye. Overall Product - This is a smaller Daiso, but they have still a nice selection of items. They have your Office Supplies, Halloween Costumes, Flip Flop Sandels, Snacks, Silverwear and Plates ect. Kinda disappointing they didn't have any of the Kit Kats that everyone love (Green Tea, Strawberry and Vanilla) but they did have a few Ramunes and Tea's and other popular drinks they normally have at the stores. Dispite the size of this location they pretty much have the general things that other locations carry. Generally not disappointing although I wish a few more things were available. Service - Service was a bit dry, the few workers that were there were either stocking or acting like they were doing something while chatting with one another. The cashier that rang me up was on her phone the whole time, but at least she gave me a fake smile and thanked me for coming to Daiso....umm I kinda work here too unofficially. But hopefully they get it together. Future - Yea, I see this place everyday. My security office is like 4 doors down. Perfect place for snacks! read more

I came in two days ago because I forgot about the grand opening. The store is located in The Willows Shopping Center in between Fuddruckers and Roadrunner. Daiso started in the early 70s and it's known as a "100 yen store". You can find a lot of things here from kitchen supplies, hardware, make-up, snacks, notebooks, pet accessories, skin care, bento boxes, and many more. In this particular store you'll find everything in a lot of different categories but in limited quantities and types. Most of the products are $1.50. It's much like the dollar store but I find the quality a lot better and cuter. The dish scrubber will just want you to wash the dishes and the notebook will just make you want to journal because the designs are just so cute. The 50 cent difference definitely worth it for the quality of the products. I was happy and a little disappointed at the same time. I was happy because there's now a Daiso in my town. And a little disappointed because the items are limited in this store compared to the one in Union City which I usually visit. Also some shelves at this store are not replenish fast enough. There's a lot of empty spots on the shelves. I still found a lot of cute and useful items though. The Sapporo Ichiban chow mein is only 75 cents each here. It's more than a dollar somewhere else. 99 cents at other stores when it's on sale. I got the "boiled eggy" to make fun shapes with boiled eggs. And the plastic rack to put in my pantry for $1.50. I also love their "kawaii" line of products. These are examples of stuff I got at this store. Daiso's mission is to help customers "find surprises and fun" and I did as always. I'd definitely be coming back again and I hope that the store will continue to improve. read more

Pretty cool that this opened up in the willows! Isn't as big as the ones in Serramonte and Japan Town but it's got the basic. I mainly went for the snacks. The aisles are pretty narrow. I am a big guy so I would have to turn sideways to pass someone down a narrow aisle. There are many snacks. Look at the pictures I posted. Lots of pocky, pastries, noodles, chips, candy all the basics! They had a deal going on which is why I got a free pocky mug. Buy 3 boxes and get a free gift. Buy 10 boxes and you get 1 free I believe. Most snacks are about 1-2$+. The people out front are nice and friendly, the workers checking out at the cash register didn't really seem to friendly or enthusiastic. They weren't mean just not many smiles. It was toward the end of the first day of opening so they were probably tired. Anyway, would come back here to check out new Things they got. I love Japanese snacks ! read more

Great little store with a variety of different Japanese items. Super cute stuff! My daughter loved going through all the stationary, sanrio items and art supplies in stock. The only thing is that they were low on a lot of Japanese snacks. Other than that our first time trip was good. Easy check out with little to no wait. The staff were very nice. Don't go here during summer, I don't think they have AC? It gets super hot and their aisles are super small! Definitely not ADA friendly! It's not even a regular sized person friendly! Only one person can be in one aisle at a time, or else you're gonna knock stuff off the shelves... Not happy with the supplies they have in here. I usually get my parchment paper from Daiso but this location rarely have it in stock. read more

I love this store. This is a Japanese store with a lot of authentic things. There is parking but this parking lot is really busy. You really can't beat the prices here. I buy a lot of things online because they are hard to find and this store has them. The prices at the store are cheaper then online. They have a lot of cute things you can't find elsewhere. I bought a car sun protector for $3 and it was a teddy bear. Where else would I get that ?! Not all the things are good quality but most are decent. They have a ton of tea sets or kitchen wear you can use. They have a huge Japanese snack section. I always like to try new things. Definitely give this place a chance you might find a new favorite snack or a gift you wouldn't find elsewhere. read more

So happy I got to shop at Daiso again! I love this location because the staff is very friendly and aisles are fully stocked for the most part. Love going here to shop for containers, stationary, and delicious snacks. I would recommend going here near opening so you don't have to wait outside in line to get in. This review is for my wife. She loves this store. Many of the stationary items she buys for herself and school are much better prices than elsewhere. To top it off they have many more varieties, of my families favorite candy, Hi-Chew. Great price on just about everything. Kind of like a Japanese $1.50 store with better products. My wife found calligraphy pens that she loves, sushi making items, unique kitchen tools, cute notebooks, origami paper, etc. Everything has a Japanese flair, might not be made in Japan, but almost like you are in a store in Japan. read more

I really like shopping here. My family stops in here all the time for snacks, sweets, dishware, and all manner of little knick-knacks from Japan. I always get these great white bowls in varying sizes for serving and preparation. My favorite size is the big one shown the picture, so I went down to the Concord Daiso to get a few. Through no fault of the bowl, they occasionally break, get chipped, or just lost, so I need to replace them every so often. The shelf had a few medium size, but no large size. I stopped and asked the nice employee who happened to be in the area, but she didn't know if there were any more coming, so she passed me off to someone else. The next employee comes out from the back and comes up to me to tell me that they don't have anymore in stock (we could see that), they likely weren't going to get any more (bummer), and that's it. I ask if she can check if they have any over at Japantown in the City, since she has the inventory tablet in her hands. She says I don't know anything about that store and walks off. Really? In this age, she can't or won't check another store is really bad customer service and/or really bad information technology that doesn't allow it. Either way, it would have been nice to know that she would have done it, but couldn't, instead of the casper, the friendly ghost act. I will head down to Daiso in the City this weekend, but I'm a little sad at the mediocre service here in Concord. Having said all that, I really recommend this great store and the tons of cool stuff. read more

My first DAISO experience is this spot. I am a fan! The aisles are pretty narrow, but there are sooo many things to look at. I love walking down the aisle and realizing I needed this or that or maybe it was want this (about 5 of them) and want that. I would love to check out more Daiso's. I hear there are others that are better. I did not have an issue with this location. Check out was quick and they were very nice. I bought a reusable bag from here. I like the shape of it. curious Daiso has California Concord following it's name. no doubt this will the format going forward as they go mainstream. located in the vacate spot in Willows that was the backdrop to OTG: Concord on saturdays, it's easy to spot.(next to Fuddruckers). not everything is $1.5,, no shelf selling items with soon to expire "sell by dates". an entire shelf of hi-chews, pokeys, japanese pastries. buys: "jay street coffee" 150 mg caffeine (1.5) 6.4 oz -no sugar, unsweetened arabica coffee -others had 22 gm sugar. take aways: -not interested in japanese sweets nor fried items anymores. -lots of nit nats for the home. not my style yet. -parking difficult, willows popular now with a few new eateries...(ike's, eureka, mex place...) read more

Personally I dislike this store. Not because of the quality of the items or service. I just hate junk and clutter. My wife on the other hand likes this store. We came in tonight to find furniture socks for chairs and benches. Sure enough they have them. 4 legs to be covered for $1.50. Seems like a good price. As for the rest of the store, I just don't see a need for it. However, if I were a college student, I could see the appeal. What did I learn today? I completely forgot that this Daiso was planning to open in September and I also thought that it was opening in the Sunvalley mall so both of my thoughts were wrong and I was glad I had NO expectations because coming here was very underwhelming. SERVICE: Not welcoming. Young high school/college students who can care less if you're there. But who cares, all Daiso's have these kind of employees so I wasn't shocked. STUFF: Not much of it. Compared to their Serramonte location (before they tore it down to make the new extension of the mall), this location has nothing. Super sad that this location lacks a lot of items but I'm just HOPING that it's because they're still new and will work out the kinks eventually. 9/10/16 (Saturday) I decided to make a Daiso pit stop after work (around 11:30 AM). The store was not as crowded as when I went on 9/3/16, the grand opening. I was looking for ice cube trays and I swear I kept going up and down the aisles. I asked an employee named Brad and he was so helpful. He located the ice cube trays for me. After assisting me, he had asked me if there was anything else that he can help me find. I really hope the store manager(s) read Yelp comments because I believe in giving credit where credit is due! Customer service now a days is very non existenant. Thank you Brad for a GREAT shopping experience. I will call today (Sunday, 9/18/1 and speak to the store manager giving kudos and recognizing Brads awesome customer service. 9/3/16 I visited Daiso on Saturday, during their grand opening. Granted it was their grand opening and people were excited (I assume, because I was) it was a bit crowded. My observation compared to other Daiso stores is that the Concord location is really small. The aisles are very narrow and hard to get in/out of especially if there is a customer who likes to leave their cart in the center of the aisle. The washii tape, pens and stationary section are very, very limited. My main reason for going to Daiso is their washii tape selection. When I say "limited" I mean only two rows of hanging washii tape when I'm use to seeing a designated section of washii tape galore. I did find what I needed (minus washii tape and page flags). The items that I was looking for where I couldn't find anywhere else, I am able to find at Daiso. So, if you are looking for a unique item, try looking for it at Daiso because most likely, they will have it. The checkout line is pretty organized and goes by fast. If you are a Daiso regular, you know how long the line can get. Overall, I would recommend this location. I do recommend going during the evening hours (after 8PM) if you want to avoid a crowd and long lines. read more

Busy, busy!! I went on Grand opening day and this place was buzzing with a lot of peeps. They had a raffle going on and also were giving out prizes for people who had spent over $35 dollars at the prize wheel. I have a Pocky stick obsession and I purchased multi flavors. They had a promo if you bought 3 Pockys, you get a tote bag for free. They had a lot of choices of snacks and all the regular knick knacks you can expect to find at Daiso stores. The only let down for me was that I did not see any of those Kit Kats candy bars. I wanted to load up on the Green tea flavor. They have a Grand opening Raffle tomorrow if you received a pink ticket on Opening day. read more
