Great sushi option in Brooklyn! Standing sushi bar where you check off what you'd like. The rolls range from like 5 to 10 each. They include a good amount of rice compared to the fish and the seaweed could be crisper but other than that I thought the fish was fresh and tasty! If I crave sushi but don't want to splurge on an omakase meal I would definitely come back to satisfy my craving. Also their miso soup was one of the best I've ever had--they use the botan ebi heads for the stock so it's very yummy. The rolls are prepared really fast too! read more

The fish is super fresh here! Loved that I could get my sushi fix in a simple hand roll for lunch. They have a lot of options available, I got the seared salmon, scallop, tuna, and snow crab with avocado. I have to say my favorite was the scallop and seared salmon, but all of them were delicious and good quality. Definitely will return next time I'm in the Dekalb market hall! read more

My wife and I are blessed to live near an actual Japanese run restaurant on Long Island that is wonderful, so when we were walking through the market and saw Daigo Handroll Bar we had to stop by... The Hokkaido Scallop Handroll was so fresh, sweet, and just perfect...as was the Uni handroll...honestly it may have been the freshest Uni we've had anywhere, and we've had it anywhere we can get it. We were just looking at each other in surprise and amazement of how great these rolls were...next time in the market we might just be standing here most of the time! read more

Fresh ingredients, $$ price, quick and clean service. Their lunch deal is any two hand rolls with a drink or miso soup is ~$12 is great! You can eat by standing at two short stations wrapping around the shop! read more

Wow this place has declined BIG TIME after covid, their handrolls used to be melt in your mouth today i barely chewed through the impossibly hard seaweed. The fish still felt fresh but that seaweed was AWFUL. Sucks, because this used to be my fave sushi joint in the hood and now thats over (ps im being generous with the three stars as I do think their fish is good, but the bad seaweed ruined the entire experience for me). read more

Came here with T.H. for a quick lunch and hadn't tried Daigo despite having come to the Dekalb market hall at least once a week since it's opening. I ordered the spicy tuna and the uni. T.H. ordered the salmon skin and then eel avocado. We stood at the counter to eat and the chef made our rolls one by one. He kept very good track of how quickly we were eating and made sure that there was less than a 5 minute gap between our first roll and our second. The fish itself was fresh, thanks to a good turnover rate and the rolls were surprisingly filling. Nothing completely out of the ordinary but simple, good food. Two plus a drink made me pleasantly full without being overly stuffed. The only drawback was that it was a tad expensive. For the speed and quality, though, it was worth it. read more

Daigo Handroll Bar - Chefs hard at work! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This is one of my favorite places to stop when I'm at City Point. The best way to experience this place is to take a spot at the standing bar and order up a couple of hand rolls and a one-cup sake. I like the scallop with yuzu hand roll, the eel and avocado roll, the fatty tuna (toro) roll, and the saba gari (mackerel) roll - but they're all really good, and really fresh. The rolls are given to you at just the right temperature - warm, not too hot and not too cold! The chefs are great - you can watch them working as you eat, and they're amazing at spacing out your order so that you can finish one roll and start another without having to juggle the rolls in your hands. Two rolls are a pretty good light meal/snack for me, but on hungry days I can easily house three, and the nice thing about the standing bar is that you can decide on the fly how much you want to eat. I was really happy to see that this place expanded during the pandemic - it was a lot smaller before, and I always hoped it would gain enough popularity to expand. FYI, I can't speak to delivery since I've never gotten delivery from this place. But I'd encourage you to try a roll or two the next time you're at City Point! read more

Good, not great. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and the stall was in Dekalb market was empty. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered two hand rolls - snow crab + avocado, and a braised octopus. Both were tasty and fresh, but nothing amazing to write home about. If I were in a pinch, needing some sushi, and were in the area, I would stop, but by no means would I seek this out for a go-to sushi spot. Price point is probably fair to a bit high. read more

Delicious and no wait time! Try it; you won't regret it. My favorite spot to eat when grocery shopping at Trader Joe's.

I hate to pile on, and I almost hate to post this review because it has gotten progressively more and more crowded since it's opened, but I'm pretty sure the secret is out. These are my favorite hand rolls anywhere. The fish is consistently the freshest I've had (in Brooklyn), the ratio of rice to fish is perfect, and they are quick. Love the traditional stand and eat at the counter or order to go. My favorites are the toro and the salmon with wood ear mushroom. I'm glad I don't live close by or there would be a sizeable hole in my pocket because this place aint cheap. But it's worth it. read more

100/100 every time. This fresh cute little sushi bar inside Dekalb market is a favorite of mine. Every time I go to the grocery store or happen to be at Dekalb market I stop here. The spicy salmon hand roll is perfection. So fresh, so simple and that is how you know it is quality- there is nowhere to hide. Come here if you want a quick snack or if you want to have a fresh lunch. Specials at lunch are great too! Honestly a quick, fresh spot inside Dekalb -definitely worth a visit next time you are there! read more

Three words: toro hand roll!! Used to live in crown heights and would come here all the time. Now I live on the UES and coming back is worth the trek for the fresh and warm hand rolls they make here. read more

Some of the best quality sushi fish in Brooklyn. Have been here over 5x and the quality is always fantastic. I've tried most of the menu and can't say I've had anything bad. My favorites are the yellowtail jalapeño and snow crab avocado. The rice is amazing, too! read more

Best hand rolls I've had so far in NYC. Better than Maki Maki and KazuNori. A bit on the pricey side, like everything in the Dekalb Market hall, but it's worth it. Everything is always incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the flavors all go together perfectly. Favorites are the eel avocado, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and salmon with wood ear. Toro, mackerel, yellowtail, yuzu scallop, and snow crab are good as well. read more

Got the lunch set with two salmon avocado rolls and one eel avocado roll. The seaweed became soggy and wasn't crisp like in the pictures. Probably not the best place for takeout, or just get a bowl instead of a hand roll. read more

Fresh Hand roll. Great eatery!Fast and love the eel sauce! Variety of combos to select from.

I got the shrimp and crab cut rolls. Omg they were amazingly fresh. I was thinking about how amazing they smelled the whole way home. I get the hype. I will be back. This is probably the best sushi I've ever had. read more

Best handroll place ever !! The seaweed is so crispy and the rice and fish are so fresh, would recommend highly

Shockingly good value - I'm impressed every time I go here. The quality of the fish is probably equivalent to a high end sushi restaurant charging $80-100 for omakase, and yet you can get a toro hand roll here for like $8 (the yellowtail jalapeño and scallop rolls are also excellent). I have no idea how they pull it off. read more

Definitely a must stop at the Dekalb Market. All of the handrolls are perfectly salty and buttery. We had the eel which was slightly toasted and warm. The spicy tuna was amazingly creamy and sweet. We were too full to try the specials, but will be back to try the seared salmon belly and uni. Still water saison beer is a must try too!! read more

As a frequent customer, I have been optimistic in the past that the service from the revolving staffs, sushi chefs would get better and better with each visit. Unfortunately, in this case, I fear it will never get any less gruff or less petty- I.e today's heat wave made Dekalb market the best solution for lunch. I arrived at the Daigo lunch counter a just little before 3pm, with my young daughter and a friend with his young daughter( we are all hand roll enthusiasts) We all decided to order the lunch specials with two hand rolls each which included a bottle of water- while we submitted our orders promptly at 3pm - they refused to honor the order as a lunch specials....and spent the next 5 mins telling us that they wouldn't take the order as a lunch special because it just turned 3pm! Wouldn't it be more simple and cost effective just to honor the pricing & give bottles of water to two little girls on a really hot day, rather than to merit a negative comment towards their business? (given that there are a plethora of food choices in the nearby food stalls at Dekalb market, one would think that good business sense - would be to remain competitive and friendly to attract customers) This is the last time I shall be going to the Daigo Hand Bar. read more

Consistently high-quality rolls. Can run a bit pricey, but if you do the lunch special not terrible. Scallop is particularly good, and my friend really likes the toro read more

Daigo is located in the Dekalb market basement. It is quite pricey for what you get but I recommend the snow crab and ikura hand roll. I wasn't a fan of the toro or the yellowtail. It just tasted extremely bland. read more

Really good, but super pricy considering the tiny portion size. I got a spicy tuna hand roll while I was waiting for my other food in the food hall to be made. Oh boy the hand roll was everything I want in sushi: amazing rice, crisp seaweed, and great spicy tuna. The issue is that at ~$7 for what's 2 (maybe 3) bites feels like a ripoff... but it was really good so I'm not angry about it. read more

I'm actually very surprised by the reviews of this spot. I would certainly not ever recommend this spot for sushi. It's severely overpriced and lacking in every sense. You're much better off going to an actual sit down sushi spot in the neighboring areas. read more

Probably the best hand rolls next to KazuNori. Everything I've tried on the menu is solid. Only problem is my stomach is an endless pit and I can easily spend $40-$50 on just myself . This place is worth a try - you won't be sorry. read more

This is an example of why we need food halls today and that's to showcase the specialty skill this spot has...perfectly made sushi handrolls! These guys do one thing and one thing only, the glory of this spot is the set-up. Quick and easy! In n Out! Sushi on the run but made fresh everytime. Nothing here is pre-made, pre-packaged or made last night. Everything is made - to -order. read more

I can never resist getting a handroll any time I'm at Dekalb Market Hall. It's just soooo satisfyingly delicious. A single handroll will cost you as low as $5.90. Dunk that goodness in your wasabi / soy sauce combo and wash it down with some pickled ginger. End the short journey with a cold bottle of green tea. Sooo good. read more

Simple menu (handrolls and some sashimi) but the quality of the fish is excellent and the attention to the sushi rice was spot-on. The two times I have eaten here the rice was perfect temperature and not tightly-packed like westernized sushi often is. Small selection of Japanese beers to choose from. Great spot. read more

The Yellowtail is sliced into oblivion as is the Jalapeño which takes on a gross green look and squeezes through the seaweed indelicately. The shrimp was a little ripe and with so much spicy mayo it was easy to forget what I was eating. They won't cut rolls for you "because we like to keep it original", but why then give me chopsticks? I've definitely had better. read more

I am not sure whether these are hand rolls or uncut sushi rolls, but they are a really solid very fresh option when you are looking for sushi in this neighborhood. As others have pointed out, these are really small (and zip code priced), but filled with fresh fish and toppings. What I really appreciated was that they were willing and able to customize to my food allergies and really listened to make sure they understood. That makes it all worth it. read more

This place has the freshest sushi in Brooklyn. Their menu is great and they have quick service and a cute little sushi stand in the Dekalb Market Hall. They also have a great sake selection. The sushi is on the pricey side, but it is definitely worth it. I am always willing to pay more for quality, and that's what this is. We have eaten here over ten times now, and every time it has been on point and delicious. Their lunch special with 2 or 3 rolls and a miso soup is a great deal! This place is the best! read more

Fair price, fast casual, crunchy nori, and very fresh fish. I stop by whenever I'm in the neighborhood to do two quick rolls, and bounce--which is what sushi is all about for locals; not sitting at some dim counter for a precious $200-two-hour-course meal with bougie diners trying to impress each other with their limited and shallow knowledge of Japanese food. Some items are a bit unnecessary for my taste (e.g. shrimp or Yuzu pepper on scallops) but toro is an absolute banger for the price. read more

This place is great! The fish is really fresh, the hand roll comes out crispy. It's a quick eat with the bar style seating. A little pricey. Overall really great and convenient to go to. read more

Warm rice, cool flavorful fish and fragrant seaweed wraps. Yummy. My only complaint is that there lunch special includes a free bottle of water. No need to support disposable water bottle culture. read more

Daigo is amazing. The ingredients are all of very high quality. The nori is crisp and crunchy, the rice is perfectly cooked and all the fish is fresh and delicious. This chef knows what he is doing and you can taste his years of experience. Great staff too. Love it. read more

Absolutely love this place. My favorite sushi spot in the entire 5 boroughs, the staff is great too

This was a little gem in dekalb market. Initially, the hand rolls were super tasty and the nori was super crunchy! Since then I've been back a good 5-6 times and, more recently, there is a drastic change in the rice:nori:filling ratios. They have been training new staff into rolling their hand rolls and it's just not the same. They still taste great, however way too much rice and too beefy. My personal favorite is and always will be their Yuzu Hokkaido scallop. read more

Absolutely delicious. We had the toro roll and yellowtail jalapeño roll both were quite good and decent size for the price. Will definitely be back. read more

While shopping with my mom, (05/27/2018) searching for some food, we ran into this sushi stand. I ordered jumbo shrimp roll for my mom and I. I must say their customer service is great, as a diabetic my sugar was dropping while is was ordering my food, the workers were so helpful and patient in assisting me in what I needed, they made sure I had water, while my roll was being prepared; and was followed by a coke; my mom suffers from acid reflux and ate the ginger from the sushi and it went away. I wanna give special thanks to the following workers that helped me Anne, Sergio and Thomas, you rock and never change. read more
