This is my second favorite place to get Japanese curry. They're a small foot vendor in the mall on Fulton and I discovered them on accident a while ago and have regretted it. The cashiers are always nice when I come and order from them and it has a little sitting area attached to the hut so you can watch the chefs cook. I would def recommend trying this place out if you wanna grab lunch or a quick bite after work.

Located in the DeKalb food hall, is this little shop selling good Japanese street food. It's a cute looking open front where you can see them cooking the meat on the griddle while you wait. There are a couple of seats in the front for customers. My daughter got their pork katsu don. It was perfectly fried pork with scrambled eggs and onions on top lying on a thick layer of rice. The pork was hot and crispy. The eggs were well seasoned. It was very filling for $13.

The food court down here is insane and has so many choices! But Teppan Territory drew me in!! The food was so fulfilling for their price point. The staff is so kind and you can tell everything is made fresh. You can even watch if you want. They have an array of choices! Once you see the lanterns, go for it!

    Chicken Teriyaki w/ Chicken Gyoza
    Jayden D.

This was the place I decided to stop by on my first visit to the DeKalb food hall. Not gonna lie, I spent some coin, some being an understatement here but I don't regret it. The Chicken Teriyaki I had was DELISH! and the chicken gyoza was made very well. You can get a decent meal and the chicken teriyaki itself is $14. It's a tad small though so that's where the gyoza $7 and drink $2 came to play which led to my food being more than $20.

Quick service! I ordered spring rolls and a miso soup. You can pay in cash or credit card and there's an eating area close by if you're not in a rush. The grill if I'm front of you where you can watch them cook, and there's a few stools to sit at.

I got the pork katsu don which is a breaded pork cutlet, egg, onions and a teriyaki sauce over rice! Food was pretty good! Which there was a little more sauce tho. For $14 it wasn't bad for the portion Food came out super hot in a container with napkins and utensils. Not too long of a wait for the food. Got the gyudon and for $16 it's so skimpy and bland and overcooked. So skimpy compared to the katsudon.

Japanese curry, Miso Soup. Yaki Soba

The food was yummy! You get a really mixed sized portion for the price and it's so filling! I only ate half the curry before I had to pack it away. I did have to add soy sauce because I'm a salty person, but other than that, i have no complainants. The miso soup was scorching hot. Burned my tongue. Be careful. It's piping and fresh. The yakisoba was also delicious. I don't know what sauce they stir fry it in but it was a little smoky and savory and full of umami. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. They weren't mushy but not raw either. However, they could've added more vegetables. It was lacking in that area. Service was quick. I got my food ten minutes after ordering. Would definitely recommend and would come back for more!

The food was delicious! Service was pretty crappy just because they don't call our names when foods ready and everyone is on their phone! I had to go up and ask if the food sitting there was mine (which it was)! Either way the food is really good.

    Stall front
    Kamara S.

I have passed this stall many times but never visited until now because I was dining with someone else who preferred this other than the other options available. So we had to take the time to look at the menu through the LED screens near the stall. They also had one screen that listed and showed individual items from the menu (it needs to be slightly updated as it showed corn on the cob but didn't have it on the menu, my friend really wanted that. And sometimes the menu were not consistent because there was Japanese udon on one of them but not the others) There was a combo option of getting a soup (miso) an "appetizer" (gyoza or shumai) and teppan (rice or noodles with chicken, beef or shrimp). Because we were not in the mood for soup and buying separately, we decided against it. We ordered Japanese fried rice (with chicken), gyoza (chicken) and ika geso (fried squid legs). Overall, we waited around ten minutes for the order (as promised by the cashier). Keeping in mind that we took the order to go, the order was fine. The rice was flavorful enough, the gyoza had enough filling and was pan fried as advertised though not to the preferred crispness . The ika geso had flavor but was tough in some places. Overall, I could come here for a quick bite to eat. Is it my favorite place in dekalb food court? No. But It can definitely satisfy you

    Chicken Teriyaki bowl

Located within Dekalb Market right by the bathrooms sits this cute Japanese restaurant. I've always walked by it, but finally decided to give it a try after groceries! We ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and the beef yaki soba. It took about 10 minutes for our food to come out, and we sat at the bar top in front of their kitchen. It was pretty cool seeing them prep the food right in front of us. The chicken teriyaki bowl came as cut chicken pieces, with a small layer of veggies underneath, and a serving of rice. I thought the chicken was juicy with just the right amount of teriyaki flavoring. For the beef yaki soba, we were a little disappointed. It was tasty, noodles were perfectly cooked, but it definitely tasted more like lo mein than yaki soba. They offer plenty of things on their menu so I would definitely come back to try different items!

Great quick bites! Located conveniently in dekalb market. The curry was on point! There's little bench seating or you can eat quickly at the chefs table. Gyoza was hot and crispy. If you're a tofu fan try the agedashi tofu. Food comes out super fast. A perfect place for lunch.

    Decor

Seafood pancakes were very good. The atmosphere of the food hall and of itself is very nice, but this kitchen was extremely clean and that was the best part. The cashier was very friendly.

My donburi set also came with dashi broth that the waitress later brought over to pour on top of the leftover rice in my bowl to be enjoyed at the end of the meal. The broth and rice combination was really comforting and satisfying. This dish was something I wanted to try in Japan but did not get a chance to experience when there, so I was excited to try it at Ozakaya. I was really pleasantly surprised by the ramen here as well. Although the pork could have been better/more tender, the broth was rich and seasoned so well and not too salty like other places. Last but not least, the service here was excellent and efficient. I'd still give it a solid 9/10 and would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Above all, the fish quality and freshness is excellent and the nigiri felt especially authentic (not too much rice, sizable cuts of fish done in the traditional style). The akami and hamachi belly were particularly great. The toro scallion and king salmon crunch hand rolls were also favorites. Our opinions were more split on the spicy tuna crispy rice (I loved, husband was more lukewarm) and dumplings (obviously very freshly prepared but quite fried). The overall ambience is airy, quiet and calm and service was warm and fast. We would have loved to try the cocktails as they sound really interesting -- next time!

The tuna crispy rice was also a bit different- served as a tartare w crispy rice chips for dipping. Very crispy and tasty though! Service was super attentive and very welcoming. Definitely will be coming back if I'm in the area.

Regardless, it's the best salmon roll I've ever had -- buttery with a delicate, fresh flavor wrapped in fragrant rice in perfect proportions. After experiencing the first salmon roll that I could stomach and finally understanding the hype a while ago, I've tried dozens of rolls throughout the city at many price points and this was my favorite experience. It's also relatively very affordable; my meal of a miso cod appetizer (flaky scrumptious simplicity), miso soup, a salmon roll, and green tea cheesecake came to $54 + tip. The service was also excellent. I'm the sort to dine solo with a novel, want to be completely left alone, and not notice the quality of service at all. The waitress provided the feel of an independent experience while also being very attentive, pleasant, and informative. There was an art to her skill that prompted me to observe and note an art to the service I rarely do. The staff was very watchful and reaction; everyone was well cared for. I'm inspired to try something over than a salmon roll. This seems to be the place to do it. I'll also add I was surprised to read the review on them refusing to let a guest take their leftovers home.
