Wagyu beef curry

This is one of my favorite lowkey japanese places to visit. Its small and intimate but they use the space really well to not make you feel cluttered on other people. The service is always good too, the waitress we had was great. This time we had nigori soju (which got me just right), chicken curry, wagyu beef curry and sushi which all tasted really good. We got all of this for under $100 in NY which was refreshing too. I def recommend trying them out.

Wasan is and remains one of our staple places in Brooklyn. Excellent service, delicious sushi, hearty ramen, and mouth-watering Wagyu beef - only wished they'd bring the superb Uni Lover back sometime soon. Seating is a bit more limited since the outside area has been reduced, but they added a shed for take-out and you can always make a reservation to be guaranteed a seat.

I came her for lunch on a Saturday and got seated pretty quickly. I ordered from the lunch menu where there was a udon set with sushi. I got the chicken tempura udon and a salmon avocado roll. The udon was pretty hearty and the tempura was pretty good. The sushi roll was delicious and the salmon tasted pretty fresh. Overall, a great spot for Japanese food with a great lunch menu.

Nice cozy neighborhood gem. Great beer and sake choices and affordable food sets. I had the KATSU curry and it was great. Service was very friendly as well!

Celebrated my birthday today with my family and Wasan did not disappoint. Entering the establishment gave me a nostalgic moment of being in Japan. The restaurant is cozy and gives you a warm feeling of peace. Service was excellent as the waiters were friendly and helpful. I ordered the Pork Katsu Don which was flavorful and simply delicious. If you're in the Park Slope area I highly recommend this restaurant.

Took my cousin here for her birthday dinner. The food was good. It was a little crowded since it was before a concert and seemed a bit understaffed. The menu is overwhelming and hard to read because there are so many specials and things they offer.

Great hidden gem in Brooklyn! Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and it slowly filled up throughout the night. We had a reservation and were seated immediately around 6. I got the set and was really happy with it. You get a soup, a salad, rice, a roll, and a piece of fish. The soup and salad were good. Roll was very yummy and fish felt fresh. The grilled fish was really good, but a little bit too fatty for my liking. I had to eat a lot of rice to try to get rid of the greasiness.

Good place, chill, good service, friendly. Not expensive. I order miso soup and salmon & avocado sushi.

My friends have gotten take out from here before. They describe it as a great option for non-omakase sushi! There was apparently a Groupon deal so they ended up ordering from here for a Friday night dinner at home! I was lucky enough to get invited! I chose the salmon and spicy ikura bowl. The ikura wasn't spicy at all and I have a low tolerance so maybe they put the wrong ikura in the bowl. But the salmon was good and so was the rice. The other sushi rolls were also very tasty! I liked the scallop one a lot. It tasted super fresh. The karrage chicken was good too despite being delivered. I would definitely keep this on my list for when I finally move to Brooklyn.

The hinamatsuri box took a bit of time to prep but was worth it; the namesake roll was aesthetically appealing and sizable; fish was quite fresh overall. The pork dumplings' contents were coming out a bit but they were decent. The wagyu bun was a quick bite, but sweet and tender.

This place is 5 stars just for being open so late! Late night, post-drink eats are somewhat limited in the surrounding neighborhoods outside of pizza or street meat. But I really appreciate Wasan being an alternative when craving something different. What better way to sop up the alcohol in the body than bao buns or a large bowl of noodles!

Wagyu Beef Tendon

I stopped by Wasan with my cousin for a light and quick bite before going to an event at the Barclays. The place itself is clean with both indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated quickly. The staff was friendly enough. I wanted to get a toro roll but was disappointed to hear that they did not have any toro that day. My second choice was the Wagyu beef tendon dish. My cousin ordered the smoked duck & cucumber roll. We got the brussel sprouts to share. The wagyu beef tendon was decent but to be honest I wouldn't be able to tell if it was wagyu at all. It didn't taste or feel significantly different to me. It was good beef and it was cooked well, but I was disappointed by the amount of tendon in a dish called "Wagyu Beef Tendon". I got maybe a couple pieces of actual tendon and the rest was lean meat. The tofu in the dish was good and so was the egg (the I would've preferred it more soft-boiled). I tried a piece of my cousin's smoked duck & cucumber roll and was underwhelmed. I am a fan of duck though admittedly 99% of the time I have it is in the form of Peking duck. The duck in the roll was certainly smokey, but I was not really a fan. My cousin wasn't either. It wasn't terrible, but I don't think I would have it again. The brussel sprouts were pretty good. They were lightly fried and came with a side of curry salt and pepper. While they were tasty, I think the order was around $10 which makes it a little iffy to me. The service was nice and attentive though there were only 2 other parties while we were there. I'm not opposed to coming back, but I'm certainly in no rush.

Cute place we found after my sons graduation at Barclays . Apps were good as was food , just felt entrees could have been abit bigger. My ramen dish def needed some more ramen lol. We enjoyed it though. Sake and mochi ice cream hit the spot.

My donburi set also came with dashi broth that the waitress later brought over to pour on top of the leftover rice in my bowl to be enjoyed at the end of the meal. The broth and rice combination was really comforting and satisfying. This dish was something I wanted to try in Japan but did not get a chance to experience when there, so I was excited to try it at Ozakaya. I was really pleasantly surprised by the ramen here as well. Although the pork could have been better/more tender, the broth was rich and seasoned so well and not too salty like other places. Last but not least, the service here was excellent and efficient. This place is super popular and I get why. It was packed but the service was insanely quick and efficient, which I appreciated. We shared the chirashi (9/10) and a spicy tuna roll (7/10) and it was honestly more than enough food for both of us. The sashimi is chef's choice so you're getting whatever's freshest that day. Overall, the quality was excellent. A couple of pieces were a little on the flavorless side, but nothing that ruined the experience. I'd still give it a solid 9/10 and would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Above all, the fish quality and freshness is excellent and the nigiri felt especially authentic (not too much rice, sizable cuts of fish done in the traditional style). The akami and hamachi belly were particularly great. The toro scallion and king salmon crunch hand rolls were also favorites. Our opinions were more split on the spicy tuna crispy rice (I loved, husband was more lukewarm) and dumplings (obviously very freshly prepared but quite fried). The overall ambience is airy, quiet and calm and service was warm and fast. We would have loved to try the cocktails as they sound really interesting -- next time!

The space is pretty large, with a good amount of tables in addition to bar seating. I split the tuna crispy rice and the signature roll set and it was plenty of food for two. The signature roll set had an assortment of interesting and unique rolls ranging from truffle to mango- my fave was the New York crunch w potato crisps on top. The tuna crispy rice was also a bit different- served as a tartare w crispy rice chips for dipping. Very crispy and tasty though! Service was super attentive and very welcoming. Definitely will be coming back if I'm in the area.

Regardless, it's the best salmon roll I've ever had -- buttery with a delicate, fresh flavor wrapped in fragrant rice in perfect proportions. After experiencing the first salmon roll that I could stomach and finally understanding the hype a while ago, I've tried dozens of rolls throughout the city at many price points and this was my favorite experience. It's also relatively very affordable; my meal of a miso cod appetizer (flaky scrumptious simplicity), miso soup, a salmon roll, and green tea cheesecake came to $54 + tip. The service was also excellent. I'm the sort to dine solo with a novel, want to be completely left alone, and not notice the quality of service at all. The waitress provided the feel of an independent experience while also being very attentive, pleasant, and informative. There was an art to her skill that prompted me to observe and note an art to the service I rarely do. The staff was very watchful and reaction; everyone was well cared for. I'm inspired to try something over than a salmon roll. This seems to be the place to do it. I'll also add I was surprised to read the review on them refusing to let a guest take their leftovers home. I had just a few bites of my dessert remaining, and they asked me if I'd like it boxed unprompted.
