Order a verity of items and share with the table. All very good food. We went for ladies night and had the ladies steak. Granted not the best cut but the waiter was honest about it up front. The flavors were great and cooked perfectly. The wine on tap is very tasty and highly recommend the red wine with the steak! Love the atmosphere and the friendly staff. read more

Well, slap me with a sourdough and call me Impressy. We came in friday night and was seated right away on the lovely patio, underneath the grape vines. The server was very suggestive and actually excited to be doing his job. (which is extremely rare in Austin) We split the boar confit and the shrimp - both were incredible. We ordered a couple sides to and the portions were quite generous and had enough to take home for another meal basically. We were stuffed. They have an excellent 11 percent pilsner on tap too for 5 bucks. I had like 3 of em and she had one. Bill came out to about 100 - not too shabby at all. I can't wait to back and try the supper club read more

Had tried to get tickets to the supper club for a long while but they always sold out before i could purchase. Was super stoked to hear of the restaurant opening! Seems like all of the staff know and love food! The hostess Taylor was gracious and sat us in the partial booth without a reservation. We dined on a Tuesday night at 6pm. The tall waiter man was able to answer all of my many questions about the menu. He was informative but down to earth. He didn't have a rehearsed spiel by any means We had the venison ceviche to start. Fantastic! We shared the supper club meal for $30 which was fried chicken with candied jalapeños. Green beans cooked with salt pork, oh my. Mashed potatoes with gravy. Seriously, home cooking at its finest! Damn it was delicious! The meal also came with a sort of herbal citrus tea, wouldn't have ordered typically but now will. Then squash pie, perfect crust, perfect pie and perfect way to end the perfect meal. Dying to go back!!! read more

I'm a longtime fan of Dai Due, since we went to Jesse's supper clubs and classes 6-7 years ago. He puts his heart and soul into this restaurant and he provides a valueless gift to Austin in the process. When we walked in, they were butchering a side of hog in the front, and I felt like I had jumped back in time. Various pickled vegetables and spices portend the rainbow of flavors to come. A hive of workers attend to details such as plump fresh loaves of bread. The inside has tall green booths and lots of red brick and you can see the kitchen and the inside of the butcher shop, so there is lots of visual stimulation and lots of celebration of cooking and food. The butcher shop provides superb stocks for sauces and soups and also sells aged meats. Frozen, their sauce can be an ongoing resource for a home cook to dip by the spoonful as needed. Back to the restaurant. Our server was amicable and helpful with recommendations. We went for brunch two days in a row and on both days after we got our food she seemed slightly less available, but it was very busy during both times. I ordered the Croque Madam which is like a Croque Monsieur with Mornay sauce and an egg. I couldn't get enough of the Mornay sauce! The cooks nailed the egg texture perfectly where the yolk had just started to gel on the outside with plenty of runny yolk on the inside. We'll be back, soon - I hope. read more

This is not what I expected my first visit to Dai Due to be like at all. I had heard so many great things and was beyond hyped to try it. An Instagram post showing off their double wagyu cheeseburger was what enticed me to finally come check the restaurant out. The burger looked incredible in the photo and I made reservations immediately. We walked in and were seated promptly. Our server was awkward to interact with at times and never really even asked us if we were ready to order. She made small talk and then gave us a blank stare which was followed by an uncomfortable silence. After 10 seconds or so we just started listing our orders to break the silence. Weird. When the burger arrived it looked exactly like it did in the Instagram post, which gave me high hopes. My hopes burned and went straight to hell as soon as I took my first bite. Both patties were cooked 5 levels over "well done" and were almost completely a charred black color. To make this worse, the entire burger was so salty that I physically could not force myself to take another bite after a while. I know for a fact this was not a one-off mistake because we ordered three of these and they were all identical. The fried potatoes that came on the side were really difficult to eat and were accompanied by an extremely confusing condiment that looked like raspberry preserves but tasted like corn. At the end of our meal our server actually forgot about the desserts we ordered, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we were ready to get out of there ASAP. I'm glad the food was a special price due to it being the restaurant's anniversary. I would have rammed my head through a wall if I had paid full price for such a low quality dining experience. Literally ANY fast food burger gushing with GMOs would have been better. The two individuals at the host's stand were so friendly but the rest of this visit was a complete nightmare. read more

Everything they are doing is on point. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I found a plastic button type object in our food, and neither the man angel waiter or manager thought that was weird .... I mean the salad was delicious, there was just a piece of plastic in it. read more

We came for happy hour blue crabs ($5) and $7 crab dip which were on special and both fantastic. Incredibly friendly and attentive service, beautiful space and love the open fire pit where they cook many of the meats. We also had a centex mezze board and the wild boar confit, which were both excellent. Great place to take a date or a small group of friends! read more

Amazing food and wonderful service! One of the best meals I have had in Austin. I got the catfish!

Went here for brunch today and was very satisfied. I got the cemita ahogada and it was delicious it had a very good taste and texture profile. The pecan cake was good as well only thing I could say was the cremé anglaise was a bit too watery. The cake itself was good though. Highly recommend you stop by if you are in Austin Texas. A bang for your buck! read more

Loved our dinner, loved the space and loved talking to Jessie about bird hunting, Nilgai and using steel shot instead of lead shot to hunt. Had the goat tartare, fried rabbit livers, tomato salad, chicken pate, pork rillette, venison terrine, vaquero pie (Texas version of Shepherd's Pie). I've never been a fan of liver but both we tried were delicious. We also had wine on tap that was great. Very curious about the venison fajitas that were in the case in front of the store. We can't wait to come back and bring friends. PS, all of the bread served with the apps was perfect. read more

Not sure where to start??? Let say that we didnt know if we'll sit ourselves or somebody will seat us... wondering around and nobody say hello... Finally the hostess (which I doubt she even want to be there) sat us... Not so friendly... table were not set... understandable maybe they were busy and didnt have time to set it up. It took a while for our server to show up but we were very excited about this place we waited patiently... Finally our server gets to our table and didnt know much about the different style of beer but talked to us like she knew and kind of argue with my friend about the style of beer... (odd)...no big deal... she took our order which the menu was really poor for lunch... only two sandwiches the rest is breakfast items... Our food was delivered by another person..again no big deal... I really wanted another glass of wine and my friend wanted another beer...But Nope water was our best choice... the roasted potatoes which she recommended were very blend... the burger was weird... the meat wasnt ground right... it tasted like a cheap pate :( the other sandwich was just ok but a little pricey for the portion plus .75c if you want ketchup or mayo??? which I wanted to order to put it in my potatoes but Nope our server was busy doing her side work... Not so impress with this place... Maybe we could try it for dinner but between our server and the not so good food our experience was very disappointed... very sad because I love the atmosphere but the menu read one way and the execution is totally disappointing... $70 for lunch bad service, no impressive food and still hungry= no bueno read more

This was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in quite some time. I appreciate very much that every item served, from the food to the beer to the wine, is from Texas. We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend making a reservation at least two weeks in advance if dining on a Friday or Saturday. I can't wait to dine here again. read more

Of the five or so times I've dined at Dai Due each time the experience has been better than the last: the service has been exceptional and the cuisine has been innovative yet approachable - by that I mean if there is a particular meat or otherwise that you may normally find unusual or even off-putting you can be damn sure it's prepared properly and may open your horizons to an exciting new culinary experience. These guys take food seriously and their passion is very apparent. Recommendations: The menu changes often according to season so I will make it somewhat vague. Anything pork will be incredible. Anything with a broth will change your perception of flavor. The buttermilk pie is flaky, soft, buttery, creamy and never too sweet. Anything with eggs will be amazing. This restaurant is a gem and will be booked consistently so plan accordingly. read more

I ate at Dai Due with a large group of friends; they had planned this a few weeks earlier and I was excited to try it out, as they had been saying a lot of good things about it. I wasn't disappointed. I'm new to Austin and up until Dai Due, with the exception of a few of the food carts, I haven't really been impressed with the choices. However, Dai Due managed to change my impression -- the food was rich and flavorful. I had a chicken dish that just burst with peppery tanginess with each bite. The side dishes were equally good. I'm not sure that Dai Due is very good for large parties; we were treated well enough, but it felt awkward at times. But for small parties, less than four, I think Dai Due will be a fantastic place to return to. read more

First time here and I was definitely impressed! Started with the empanada and the beef tar tar - both of which were very tasty. A nice couple leaving the restaurant recommended the beef rib which did not disappoint though I definitely recommend splitting it. The menu is awfully meaty which is why I gave it just 4 stars - but then again what do you expect from the back of a butcher shop! dai do it. read more

This review is about the butcher shop. We purchased a 6lb prime rib for Christmas Eve. We called ahead so they had it prepared and wrapped. We disappointed that they removed the bone and didn't re-tie it on or at least give it to us and then they removed the precious fat layer. We prepare a prime rib every year and it always a perfect buttery pink rare to med-rare interior. In our previous years we get our Prime rib from HEB but this year we decided to go more local and that was the wrong move. The meat did have the aged flavor BUT it was tough even though it was cooked beautifully and even looked beautiful. I was VERY DIAPPOINTED in the quality for the price $213!!!!!!!! for 6 lbs. I will NOT be purchasing meat from Dai Due again based on this read more

I have been here 3 times and Dai Due has been fantastic every time. The food is amazing; high quality, creative, presented beautifully. The space is cozy and welcoming, homey. I havr not checked out the deli side yet, I've only ever come for brunch and like I said, it's worth coming back to. Noteworthy items are the deli hash and the Centex breakfast. My boyfriend treats me to this lovely place every once in awhile and I get so excited every time! Come hungry. read more

I am new to Austin, so I jumped on Yelp for a recommendation for a carnivore. Boy, am I glad I chose Dai Due! I will be returning. We came for lunch on a very rainy day... I want to come again and sit out on their patio, it looks awesome, they have what appear to be grapevines growing on the overhead covering! Next time. I was very impressed with the food. We ordered on the recommendation of our server, and I am glad we did. I had the pastrami and my husband had the wild boar tamales. I had never had wild boar, and was concerned that it may be gamey, but was insured by our server that it was delicious. She was right. It was delicious. We finished with the butterscotch pudding. Pure. Heaven. Our servers, Alison and Alexa, were fantastic. Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. I will be back to try dinner. read more

It is just best that I start at the beginning.. 1. The service was slow and unattentive. It was busy, but it certainly wasn't overwhelming for a trained wait staff. 2. I ordered a egg over hard which I didn't think that meant that it should be "tough" 3. This is the kicker that really bothered me about this entire dining experience, after our waiter too way too long to wait on us, I was charged TWICE by said waiter. Thank God my credit card company removed the charge. Overall the location isn't that big to be so careless and unattentive! I would wait for at least a year to see if the kinks shake out. read more

I went here a few months ago with my father (chef experience for 25+ years) as a treat. We went for dinner- he had venison ribs and I had the pork confit. oh. my. god. that pork confit. We both agreed it was the best/one of the best we'd ever had. The meat board was also quite impressive, it had a great balance and selection. The kale cheese salad appetizer was amazing. Dessert was good as well, we had a chess pie and it was perfect. I'd love to go here all the time if I had the money. I definitely can't wait to come back! Highly highly recommended!! read more

True farm to table concept. The dishes feature simple ingredients yet honor them with appropriate flavor-extraction techniques. We had the venison burger and hotdogs --both were tender and flavorful. Highly recommended. read more

My wife would give this 1-star, but I think the food is pretty good. Unfortunately, on our most recent of 3 visits we were 'greeted' by a girl who was either having the worst day ever or is a miserable person. Either way, it set a terrible tone for our meal. The meal itself was solid; this was a brunch trip and I really liked the biscuits and gravy, the venison sausage was solid, and the eggs were well cooked. Its unfortunate that we probably won't be coming back because we live so close, but luckily there are plenty of other options around. read more

Phenomenal. I saw a short video online about Jesse Griffiths and knew we had to try this place. One of the best meals I've had, hands down. Started with the cold meat board, every component was spot on. Then we shared the medium pork porterhouse (perfect amount if you're really hungry or sharing and there's a large portion as well). We are almost always steak people but could give up red meat for this. We also ordered the braised greens and the mashed red potatoes as sides. For desert we split the carrot and pecan torte and a couple of great dessert wines. Service was perfect. Our waitress kept the water and wine glasses full and was responsible for recommending the pork (forever in her debt...) The butcher shop was amazing looking as well. Next visit to Austin I'll bring my cooler to fill up. read more

I was there for a business trip a a friend recommended this place. The food is amazing and the hot dog was brilliant. Stay away from that broth drink as it was pretty gross. When I mentioned to the host that I did not like the drink she happily replaced it for me. I left there with a smile, and a great experience and I am grateful for it. Delicious food, great service and beautiful place. Best roast beef - they know their meats.
