Mouth still salivating from the food. When I say amazing, that's an understatement. Let me backtrack. Parking is limited and they sent a message stating so and to arrive early. Got a spot right up front which happens to be the entrance to the butcher/shop area. Nice sign directed me to the rear of the restaurant for the host and was sat immediately for my 6:15 reservation as I arrived early around 6pm. Jordan was the person taking care of me and they did a wonderful job. Great recommendations. Started with the grilled shrimp and they were tasty and I can't put my finger on what made it taste different. Perhaps the lime zest? Devoured those quickly. Next up was the antelope leg and y'all ain't never had it before but would order it again. Cooked amazing, easy to eat and those fries?!? Bye, just bye. I could do a whole plate of those and not bat an eye. Dessert was the basque cake and as anticipated fell inline with the rest of the meal. As you can see no plate (even the shrimp) was returned with something on it. Sooooo good. If you're looking for a new place to try, do it.
Woah! Smells so good here. Came here for brunch with no reservation. Got the biscuits with gravy and the Dai due breakfast (adding the sausage patty for $9). The biscuits are the BEST I've ever had. Soft and fluffy in the middle with lots of layers with a nice crunch on the outside. How?? So good. Kimchi and sour vegetables in the rice made everything pop and the star of the breakfast dish was the sausage. So glad we added it on! Otherwise, it's still a decent vegetarian dish. Portions are small compared to the price but I loved trying antelope for the first time. When the food came out, I thought the antelope patties looked burnt, but they aren't burnt at all and are full of flavor. The inside was full so we opted to sit on the outside patio, which had fans and pretty lush greenery. The restrooms are gender-neutral with changing tables, perfect for people with babies. I would love to come back to try their dinner menu!
I don't know why I wanted to long to eat at Dai Due because now it will become one of my regular spots! I can really appreciate that dai due is seed oil free and source pretty much everything they use & serve from local Texas farms and vendors. It makes me feel better about what I'm putting in my body. And for the quality of those products the pricing was very fair. You can taste the different in quality and I will be recommending this place to anyone who will listen. Dai due feels rustic, relaxing and inviting. The staff is friendly and the service is great. My highlight was the beef tartar and the flautas but every dish we ordered was delicious!
I've been itching to come here for a while now and boy was it worth the wait. We had a dinner reservation (a must here) and were quickly sweated when we arrived. Our waitress walked us through the menu (love that everything is texas-sourced). we landed on the lion's mane mushrooms for starters and shared the antelope, rice, and okra for our main. everything is pretty much cooked in beef tallow giving each dish such a rich flavor. everything, and i mean everything even down to the fries were delicious; but the okra stole the show for me. the guys next to us shared a burger and I saw many others ordering the burger. I'll have to come by (during happy hour!) for their half priced burgers. excellent job dai due!
Parking: they have some parking up front with additional spaces in the back. It's limited and a tight squeeze so give yourself time. Service: Fantastic! Izzy was our server and we had a great experience. I love that for a Michelin star location it can be luxurious without being stuffy, For appetizers we had the flautas which are the best crisp, full of flavor with an amazing broth. We also ordered the craw fish (essentially empanadas) and they were... okay, too heavy and the peas just did not do anything for the dish. For entrees we went with their shrimp à la plancha and their meatballs. Both were delicious. The pickles and the sauce paired to well with the meatballs and the shrimp were full of flavor and the crisp of the potatoes added a nice touch. Instead of a cocktail I tried their local limeade a sparkling delight! They also have a very cool store front where you can get all kinds of meats and coffee and signed books by the main chef. Such an amazing experience.
Came here to very specifically try their Mead. I came right after they opened around 5p on a weekday, and sat at the bar -- the staff there were super friendly and gave great recs! I would have tried the food as well, but I had dinner plans elsewhere and it's a little pricey so I didn't get anything. That said, the guy next to me got one of their steaks and said it was one of the best he'd had, so that's high praise! I got a small glass (like 2 ounces) of the mead which is $5. It's expensive for how little you get but the flavor is just lovely -- as good as any dessert wine I've had! I could definitely drink a glass of it any time. They have lots of tables inside but the parking is a little limited outside. The day I came there was plenty because it was early and it was still pretty empty inside (just one or two other groups there), but on a busy night I imagine you'd end up having to get street parking nearby or something. Bathrooms were immaculate in here though, and the ambiance is nice! Not "super fancy," but definitelty more upscale than casual. Overall it strikes me as a nice date spot! A little expensive, but I'm sure the food is great, and can confirm the drinks are definitely very nice.
Another 5 stars after visiting again. This time for happy hour to get the $19 burger and fries and were far from disappointed. We sat at the bar where Maria was tending. She was wonderful! We loved getting to watch all the chefs do their magic. I also purchased a few pounds of wild boar chorizo verde and deer sausage that I'm looking forward to sharing with family during Labor Day weekend. Great service and ambiance, and we'll always come back.
I've been looking forward to trying out the dry aged Longhorn burgers. Maybe my expectations were set too high. The burger was decent but not the best in town. My friends tried the Grilled Quails and Mushroom Paprikash. They enjoyed their dishes. For appetizers, we shared the spicy carrot tomato cream cheese and carrot tapenade on flat bread crackers and beef fat fries. They sound yummy, but I thought they tasted rather dull. We also got the marinated beets to share with our entrees, the group liked it. For dessert, we ordered the Strawberry galette with buttermilk ice cream, and it hit the spot. The best part was probably the service. Our server was very attentive with good timing. We didn't have to wait long to order anything, and she was very nice with a sweet smile. It's a farm to table butcher restaurant. Decent casual chic ambiance. They serve beer, wine, coffee, tea, and mocktails. We got parking easily because we arrived early.
My husband and I decided to try out Dai Due for our 8th anniversary, and unsurprisingly it was amazing! First off the reservations were pretty open mid-week; I had booked for Tuesday several weeks ahead of time but then had some plans shift and was able to change my reservation to Wednesday just a couple days ahead of time with no issues. We walked in through the front as the back entrance wasn't really obvious from the parking lot (which is quite small), but that was cool as we got to walk by the deli counter and see the meat and pickled veggies etc that were for sale. Our server was great, very helpful in suggesting items, explaining the menu, and answering any questions we had. On her suggestion we started with the sauteed mushroom appetizer but also requested the black garlic butter to be added on the side (I don't think there was an up charge) and this was a great choice! The mushrooms were tender but with a nice bite and super flavorful. We also got the grilled oysters- I forgot exactly what was in the sauce it had miso and something else, but it was so rich and flavorful! I couldn't decide what was the best between the two apps they were both amazing. The husband ordered the antelope over regular fries (as he doesn't like sweet potatoes) which they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious- tender and perfectly cooked with the chive butter on top. I had never had antelope before and found it very pleasant, not very gamey but with a slightly different flavor than beef. I got the quail over grits with a creole sauce and sauteed kale- amazing! It comes with two quail that I think were spatchcocked- the only bones were in the legs and wings so you could eat it easily. The grits were creamy and the sauce with the kale and quail was delicious. I was able to finish my whole meal but was pretty stuffed at the end! Our waitress encouraged us to get a dessert but when we declined brought us out a bowl of chai ice cream to share as she said she wasn't going to let us leave on our anniversary without a treat! All in all a great experience, only complaints are that they don't serve cocktails (there are plenty of local Texas liquors to choose from!) but we did enjoy a glass of wine, and then went next door to Vic and Als after dinner for a dessert cocktail!
Dai Due absolutely deserves 5 stars. I went for a date night dinner and every single thing we tried was phenomenal - the kind of meal you're still talking about days later. The vibe is cozy but elevated, perfect for lingering over drinks and way too much food. We love trying game meats, and this is hands-down one of the best spots for that. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared, with layers of flavor that actually make you slow down between bites just to appreciate it. But the real star of the night? The taquito starters. We still dream about those - crispy, rich, creatively flavored, and completely addictive. I'd go back for those alone, and then happily eat my way through the rest of the menu again.
Came out here on Friday for brunch at 11. The restaurant was quite empty but filled up as we were there. There are very few spots in front but a few more behind but it limited parking. The restaurant was very cozy and comfortable. Service was great. Food was great. We had the pastrami sandwich. Biscuits and gravy with Antelope sausage and sourdough pancakes. Also the lemonade and green tea. I will definitely be back again .
Every time I'm here I think "I should come here more often." It never fails to be good. There's always some tweak to the menu. Some new ingredient, some new combination of flavors, something seasonal. It's never exactly the same, but never different enough I feel lost. Flavors? Yes. Technique? Yes. A new food pairing I'd never thought of, but isn't some over-the-top science experiment that might wow but doesn't satisfy? No. Just good food, cooked well, thought out in terms of flavor and portion, served in a place where you can sit, eat, drink, talk and enjoy. Upscale without pomp and circumstance, but homey enough to not be a wildly out of touch experience. Come here when you want to eat, come here when you want to talk over food you can munch and enjoy. Come here when you're bored with everything else and get reminded how good good can really be.
After a huge disappointment with another restaurant, we needed to find a new place for a birthday celebration and landed on Dai Due. There was a small wait... but given that it was a Saturday night, that was to be expected. Parking, kind of a nightmare. Not barely enough parking for the multiple restaurants in the strip, but after 30 min or so stalking the lot, we found a space to park. Once inside though, utter perfection. The waitstaff are extremely knowledgeable on the offerings and made great suggestions. Every morsel was balanced and delectable and definitely one of the best meat and cheese boards we've had. Stuffed after our meal, we could pass up the butterscotch pudding, so ordered it to go and enjoyed it the next night.
Remember when Manor road was just The Vortex, El Chile, Red House Pizza and Tenderland? Sigh. Me too. I miss the vacancy and undiscovered-ness of manor road. But I love all the new stuff here. Sugar Mamas, Ingredients, School House, Haymaker, Patrizis, El Sapo. Dai Due has been long anticipated. A butcher shop! A supper club! A dinner spot! Yayyayayayay! Our experience here was fantastic. Beautiful meat, fantastic presentations, a reasonable prix fixe. Things we loved: venison rib, liverwurst, pork rillette, the rose, charred okra, the pear crumble. Things we were on the fence about: venison ham, pickled watermelon, michelada. If there are duplicate items on the charcuterie and the app for the prix fixe, I'd offer a substitute. The venison ceviche was more of a carpaccio and was overpriced IMHO though quite tasty. Overall, most things were great, nothing was bad, the atmosphere is gorgeous (like, gorgeous!) and they've perfected the art of beautiful service. I'm excited to get back there and see the evolution of the menu. read more
It is exciting to see Dai Due with all its Farmers Market and supper club success open a brick and mortar! I stopped by the butcher shop on its opening day last Saturday and was impressed with the variety of locally sourced, hormone and antibiotic free meats. They have liverwurst, wild venison, wild boar chorizo and so much more. They also will cut steaks to order and at a reasonably price. We were greeted by the lovely Renee who explained Dai Due's concept, let us take a look at the menu and welcomed us to check out the restaurant. After getting a peak of what was to come from the kitchen I was excited to return on the supper club opening day. Behind the butcher shop you will find a simple yet swanky dining room with bar seating, tables and tall booths. There are two ways to order: a la cart or supper club menu. A la cart currently offers items like cured meat boards, venison ceviche, pickled chicken feet and braised venison neck ( the last dish serves 4). The supper club menu is an intriguing pre fixe menu to include dessert for $38. Thursdays they will offer a chicken dinner using Dewberry Hills hens and Fridays they will offer a seafood focused menu. The drink menu includes an exceptional list of Texas beers, wines and ciders. They also offer Austin's beloved Cuvee Coffee. They do not have a hard liquor license but serve creative wine and beer based cocktails. When I returned for dinner I opted for the griddled country ham with peach chutney. The tender rich ham was balanced beautifully with the Texas peaches. For dessert I had the prickly pear fruit sorbet which came out a gorgeous hue of purple and had a light sweet flavor. I also had my very first horchata and loved it! Our waitress Evron did and excellent job answering questions and knew the menu. If I were to make a suggestion I would consider offering a couple more veggie options on the a la carte menu. If you are looking for a locally sourced meal with an evolving and well thought out menu I would definitely recommend trying Dai Due's supper club. Congrats Chef Jesse Griffiths and the rest of the Dai Due team on your continued success and the brand new shiny brick and mortar! read more

There is a front door and a back door. But wait, the back door is the front door. When you see there is no parking in front, head around back to park where you will then enter the front door. I think. Dai Due is a farm to table creation and perfect for a big meat evening with good friends. Hmm...don't misinterpret that! If you are Paleo, as I am, this could be your new home. Our lovely shared beginning, a charcuterie plate, featured salamis, pressed meats, ham, sausage and pates along with a savory spicy, spicy, spicy mustard. The Carribean Wagyu Beef dish was rich with a peppery sauce and served with lots of cooked veggies. A helping of green rice on the side was a wonderful surprise. I am partial to South American grapes and the wine I selected was a hefty pour and perfect. read more
Went here for lunch with a food photographer for Eater, Esquire & Texas Monthly as per his suggestion, so I knew it was going to be good. They have a ton of breakfast-inspired items, sandwiches, and charcuterie platters for the lunch menu. The atmosphere is a weird mix of "high-class hipster" and "butchershop," and I mean that in a good way. I've been to a ton of butchershops for grassfed dry-aged ribeyes in NYC but they're usually much more humble than this particular establishment. I got the smoked meat hash. The hash itself was a bit on the greasier side, BUT the smoked meat was perfection and the two eggs were beautifully runny. The beet ketchup was perfection and something I hope to recreate at home. I'll be back for the charcuterie for sure, and maybe a slab of meat from their butcher-boards. read more
Amazing service, simple down to earth spot. They make everything in house and are proud of it. Go for the giant cow bone you won't regret 3 lbs of delicious Smokey meat. Or go for the supper club with fried chicken. Some of the juiciest chicken you'll ever have. Wash it down with kale and arugala salads just to balance things out. Downright great people and restaurant read more
SQUEEEEEEEE!! That's the sound that people make when they are excited about a cute, small animal. I - dear friends - am appropriating this sound in honor of the fact that Dai Due has opened a brick and mortar location on Manor Road ... WHERE ... they serve lots of plates full of animals. With its focus on "ingredients that are present in our region," Dai Due is all about food that is delicious and local, and that especially goes for the meat. We're talking wild boar rillettes, goat chops, chicken feet, steak, roast beef, quail and much, much more. If their cookbook or previous supper clubs are any indication, you might even find squirrel and dumplings or roast pigeon. Yup. The best part of this whole setup is that you can take your pick between the offerings in the butcher shop and the meals cooked in the restaurant. Want to meet your meat? This could probably be arranged if you ask real nice, since the butchering is happening riiiight around the corner in the restaurant. Talk about farm to table. While I'm not sure if I want to meet my meat or not, here's what I do know: 1. our favorite, little farmer's market stand has grown up big and strong and has some seriously delicious-looking meat on its bones. 2. the new Dai Due is an offal good concept that promises to keep me coming back for more. read more
Dai Due lived up to my high expectations. I finally got a chance to eat here to celebrate a special occasion with friends. This is a meat lovers paradise. The restaurant is behind the glass cases of meat that make up the butcher shop storefront. My mouth started watering just looking at all the delicious cuts of meat. Dai Due sources their quality meat selections from local farmers and ranchers. They have some menu options you can select from, or you can purchase the supper club set menu of the day. We went on a Sunday so it was Fried Chicken night. They have an excellent wine selection, and craft cocktails. The service was superb. Our waiter is probably one of the top waiters I have had. On point wine pairing suggestions. Everything we eat here was FABULOUS. The meat melted in your mouth, and everything was full of amazing flavor. We shared some apps - crab cakes and venison civiche. Both which were incredible. Our friends got the Fried Chicken supper club. The supper club portions were LARGE! My husband and I shared the grilled giant beef rib. It is definitely enough for 2 or more people. I have never seen such a large beef rib. I felt like I was in a Flinstones cartoon episode. I think the prices matched the overall high quality experience. read more
Some of the best meat dishes. The pork was so well done and does take 30 minutes which the waitress told us ahead of time. For a group of 4 we got 2 apps and shared 1 supper club and it was the right amount of food. The best was the bread and butter, the tartare, THE PORK (juicy and cooked so perfectly), and of course the desert was divine. Best pecan pie I've had in a long time. I will definitely be getting it for thanksgiving. The flan melts in your mouth. Our waitress gave great suggestions and everything she recommended was great! The outdoor seating was very cute with the canopy. read more
I think Dai Due puts crack in their Pimento Cheese because I am an addict for that chunky cheesy concoction! And they probably put it in their chicken liver pate and bread and butter pickles too! Dai Due sets up a booth at Republic Square Farmers Market every Saturday and sells Ready To Eat items, Butcher Shop meats, Charcuterie, condiments and seasonal specials all from local sustainable or organic Texas Farms. The Pimento Cheese is made with JBG sweet ringo peppers, Stryek Cheddar and Pepper Jack and olive oil mayo. The Bread & Butter Pickles are made with all organic local ingredients and are a sweet / spicy treat! I never thought of combining the 2 but today it was on their Ready To Eat menu so I tried it when I got back home with the only bread I had. My grilled Seeduction Bread (Whole Foods) Ringo Pimento Cheese sammy with DD Bread & Butter pickles was a seduction to say the least! read more

Over rated. The chorizo is so salty. This location is def missing culture. When I mean by that is taste #ifyouknowyouknow read more
Let me start off by saying the meat in this joint is fantastic! I want to get that out there, because I do appreciate good meat. They have some slightly exotic meats and I love that. My issues on the two times I've been (once for dinner, once for breakfast) is that there is always something unimpressive in the meal. On my first visit, I had the pork chop. It was slightly charred and seasoned well. If I was solely judging that one item, it would have been about 4.5 stars. I also ordered a couple of sides that were so nondescript and boring, that I can't recall what I ordered. I do remember not finishing it. I also had the persimmon cake. The cake was somewhat dry and bland. The wine list is strictly Texas and while I can appreciate that, I'm not a fan of Texas grown wines. I decided to give them another go as I was running very early for a work meeting. I had the apple French toast with boar sausage. The sausage was awesome. Very flavorful. The French toast was a little too sweet in my opinion, but that's purely a matter of preference so I won't fault them for that. The problem was that the bread was dry in some places, like it hadn't been dipped fully or allowed to absorb the batter. I wouldn't rule out a 3rd visit. Like I said, I love meat and restaurants can improve with time. It just might not be my first pick. read more
As soon as Bon Appetit released their Top 50 list, I had made a reservation to try this place meant for meat lovers. Homey and humble it wasn't a problem booking a table for Thursday night dinner. 1. Shrimp Salad: served on toast with corn (my favorite app) 2. Beef Carpacio: a bit bland for me, I could taste the quality of the meat but I didn't enjoy the raw mushrooms that came shaved on top with the meat, what I ended up doing was putting the beef on the shrimp salad toast 3. Summer Squash: meh, least favorite 4. Pork Chop: I love pork chop and this one ranks pretty high 5. Wild Boar Confit: A surprise, it doesn't look like much but it is very tasty. Definitely my favorite on the menu 6. Mango Sorbet: big fan of mango and I'm glad I didn't get that "fake" mango taste with this desseert 7. Peach Upside Down Cake: nothing too special 8. Stone Fruit Pit Custard w/ Oatmeal: yummy and good texture, light for a custard 9. Bottle of Gruet Sparkling from New Mexico: just because it isn't made in Cali or France doesn't mean it can't be a spectacular sparkling wine. This bottle is a great value so maybe its good to keep it a secret If this made the top 50 best restaurants and then into the top 10, I expect a lot more. Perhaps I expected to be blown away and walked away not being completely wow-ed. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was good but not truly worthy of the high ranking. read more
We came for brunch/lunch, but a little later on a Sunday, so I can't speak to how busy it is during prime brunch time. By about noon, it was easy to get seated. We opted to sit inside today, but I love the outdoor area that they have. It's covered in vines and really pretty. Today, we had the breakfast pastry - the best cinnamon sugar doughnut that I've ever had. It was fluffy and soft all the way through, and slightly cakey. I had the biscuits and gravy with venison breakfast sausage (I don't eat pork usually, so this was super exciting for me). The others ordered the centex breakfast and the cemita ahogada. Both were delicious! I was super impressed with the cemita ahogada- this iteration was done with beef and it was amazing. The hostess and servers were very friendly and we really enjoyed our brunch! read more

Came here for brunch a bit ago and we were not disappointed! We got the Cemita Ahogada, Pork Tamales, and dessert(can't remember what it was). The Ahogada was spicy, and sitting in delicious liquid flavor. The tamales were good and had an unconventional "husk", but the sandwich was the star. We live nearby and will definitely be back for dinner. read more
Oh Dai Due you're wonderful. Holy shit, I LOVED the venison ceviche- it was distinct and delicate! All your sides are decadent but the mushrooms were insane. The strip tasted like it came from the holiest cow in all the land. There's absolutely no way the actual meat could of been aged to a better state but I will say the plates needed to be hot ( that's the only reason I'm docking a star since my bf said it could of been on the Peter Luger level ) The service was attentive and our terrific server (forgot his name but he was the lanky soft spoken fellow) even surprised us with a tour of the meat walk-in after expressing our affinity for aged beef. Gorgeous. Well excecuted, bravo! read more

It's always great to see Austin businesses make the leap from trailer to brick and mortar or in the case of Dai Due from Farmers Market stand to supper club to full blown restaurant. The first thing I want to tip my hat to is the design of the space. Restaurant in back, butcher shop in front. There is a parking lot in the back and a back entrance so you can just focus on the restaurant if you want. The restaurant is divided into 3 spaces: individual bar seating, tables, and booths. This set up allows for a variety of people to frequent: singles at the bar, small families in the booths and groups of friends gathered around the tables. Dai Due, THANK YOU for not having communal seating. The decoration of the space is a very homey feel, with a roaring cooking fire and soft 'Edison' style dangle lights at the bar glowing off the peaceful blue color of the booths. I don't know if these guys hired a Zen master to Feng Shui the space or what but I'm feeling it. Kudos. The focus on the food and beverage is everything regional and local. They even make their own soda and non alcoholic drinks in house. Their entire beer and wine list is all Texas (yee haw). The meats are from area ranches. Texan lore tells me that their chef (and maybe owner) is a hunter so he 'gets' meat and how to prepare. Their menu is written in a way where you can order family style (larger portions) such as supper club which is a 3 course pairing including dessert for a fixed price. Or you can a la carte items for individual snacking as they are more petite portions but still packed with flavor. Since it's summer and I have a lycopene addiction I ordered everything involving tomatoes. The advantage being that tomatoes are in full season in the summer and these babies did not disappoint. Michelada drink blended with homemade tomato purée (only gripe is I didn't love the flavor of the beer base--tasted like seltzer water), tomato salad and a side of fire flamed grilled tomatoes and okra. Mmmm. Dai Due used a mix of red and green tomatoes which was awesome. The machacado (dried beef) on the salad was packed with amazing texture and flavor that complimented the tart acid of the tomatoes well. The appeal of Dai Due is definitely going to be the rotating menu since everything is sourced and seasons change. Fridays are going to feature seafood. There is a real talent here behind the creativity of the dishes that I would put on par with the talent of Tyson Cole and Bryce Gilmore. Based on what I observed and tried this place will be worth coming back to experiment with. Another bonus as always is the butcher shop up front where you can run in and grab some ranch raised meats to cook something at home. Idea: come to bar, have some Texas brews on tap, eat a couple of small seasonal sides to see what delicious bounty is being experimented with currently then take home some freshly cut butchered meat to experiment with yourself. Or just eat it all at the restaurant and let these guys do all the work for you. They seem to know what they are doing. read more

Wowzers this place sure smells meaty! When I got home my dogs were all over me. Hairy and I were cruising Manor Road looking for a place to grab some lunch and we landed here. It was darn near a full house so we figured they must be doing something right. We ordered their Pastrami Sandwich and a Patty Melt with a side of Home Fries. The Home Fries came with Beet Ketchup. Yep, I said Beet Ketchup, do not snub your nose at me. There is such a thing, Dai Due makes it, and the shit is delicious. For the record I was raised on good ol H.J. Heinz Tomato Ketchup and considered it the gold standard until I had Dai Due's Beet Ketchup. I'm not sure how they make it because #1 I didn't ask and #2 I really don't care. I generally do not ask how food is made because odds are slim to none that I will ever try to recreate anything that goes into my mouth. The way I see it Austin has a ton of great places to eat at so why risk injuring myself in the kitchen, ok back to my review! Both of our sandwiches were delicious, mine had the perfect amount of sauerkraut and was heavy on the pastrami. Since I limit my meat consumption I had to take some off of my sandwich, it was that meaty! Hairy had the Patty Melt with caramelised onions and homefries. Since we share our food I am more than happy to report that the caramelised onions were melt in your mouth delicious, flavor packed and plentiful these were my favorite thing about his sandwich. The home fries were a nice addition and as I already stated they go perfectly with the beet ketchup. Our server (Minda) was attentive and friendly, the hostess did her job but seemed a little put out or maybe it was that she was preoccupied with a business call that she was on when I walked up. The overall feel and atmosphere was cozy and somewhat friendly. I would have enjoyed my meal more had I not had to look at the backside of a female server who was chatting away with 2 other women that were sitting at a table next to ours. The server (Blond Woman) stood with her back to us so that she could speak to these women. Her hiney was literally 6 inches from where I was eating and she carried on a conversation that was beyond the friendly, "hi, nice to see you", type thing. She was either oblivious to the fact or didn't give a shit. My vote is for the didn't give a shit because even one of the women she was chatting it up with looked in our direction to kind of say, "sorry". The wait may be a little long for the typical lunch time crowd so go on a day that you have some extra time to spend even if you are just getting sandwiches like we did. The total cost of our lunch less the tip looked like this, Patty Melt $12 Pastrami $13 Home Fries $5.00 Ice Tea $2.50 read more

I love the country, homey and casual feel of this restaurant/butcher shop! I have been here twice and both of my lunches were great! When i first pulled up I was a little bummed out that they didn't have parking but, then I realized they have plenty of spots behind the building. The back of the building looks more like an entrance and there is a patio looking area that I am sure they will put tables on for the summer months! The seating consists of some booths against the wall, a row of tables down the center and some bar/counter seating. The booths are super high and I loved how it felt like you were in your own private space. Dry Lime & Herb drink was good but, I would give it 3 stars because the flavors were too bold to mesh well with my patty melt! The lemonade was 4 stars and it was definitely made with fresh squeezed lemon but, didn't have that overpowering sugar taste. It was light refreshing and crisp! The patty melt was cooked to the correct medium temperature and topped with mushrooms, onions, cheddar, sauce and served on rye. The bread was crispy on the outside and was at that perfect point where it isn't burn but, has the char marks on it. The mushrooms and onions were well done and fresh but, didn't steal the stand out meat flavor from the beef. There was jalapenos on the plate and unless you want your mouth to burn for 2 hours, I would advise skipping them. I would give this 5 stars. The Pastrami sandwich was also a large sandwich and the bread was just as good as the other sandwich. I found some of the parts of the pastrami to be really fatty. I know pastrami is fatty but, sometimes it's more fatty than others. The 1,000 and slaw on top had a nice bold flavor. Also, the tiny bread and butter pickles that they make in house were a nice briny flavor addition. I would give this sandwich a 3.5! The sandwiches are all a la cart but, they are a big enough portion where you are fine without sides! I hope this place sticks around as I enjoyed it and I also like that they rotate their menu daily. I am going to have to check out the butcher shop area next time. read more
This restaurant is out of this world fantastic!! All the meat and potatoes were scrapped off our plates. The flavors and quality of meat were so delicious and highly recommend this restaurant for visitors. Faith was our server and provided great service! read more
It is finally open. I just stopped by to have a look at the meats. There are so many good looking cuts. I was greeted right way and asked if I needed any help. It was amazing to watch the ladies work on the meat(s) with serious TLC. The selection to pick from are: venison hot dogs, country style breakfast sausage, wild boar chorizo, liverwurst, kielbasa, boar bangers, molasses bacon, tasso ham, brined roasting hens; a variety of cuts of beef and wild venison, chops, steaks, braising cuts, roasts and marinated skewers. Definitely coming back to grab some for the weekend. Please note that additional parking is available in the back of the shop. Finally ... had dinner there last night. It was all very good and service was wonderful. The best part of the evening was when the owner brought us our food and then he was attacked with hugs by his pre-schooler child at our table. Very cute. This is definitely a family friendly restaurant. I saw many families eating with their babies or young children. This is a very good sign for this neighborhood restaurant. Please see my pictures for all the food that we shared among four people. We order one of the supper club set menu and then coupled to that a number of items off the a la cart menu. I believe my favorite was the venision ceviche and the queso. It was all very tasty and sharing the food family style is the way to go. They are currently just a beer and wine place. Apricot sparkler was very good and I recommend it. Overall, we enjoyed out time and food and had a good time catching up with friends. It is going to be a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. read more

Quick update. Still really digging their brunch even though I haven't seen their Rabbit Enchiladas Suiza in a while. Their standard Enchiladas are good as is their Cast-Iron Pancake. Their Pastrami Sandwich is really good, but their Cemita Ahogada is where the party's at. I highly recommend giving it a try except for those who don't like spice. read more

My visit to Dai Due was way Over-Due. This cozy cafe sits nestled on Manor Road just up the street from the University of Texas, across from popular spots such as Salty Sow, and luckily for me, just a short distance away from my humble abode in Hyde Park (and a perfect pick for a pit stop on my Saturday afternoon bike ride). When I came in, they weren't all that busy so the environment was quiet and peaceful. The place almost had that mom and pop shop type of feel which was comforting. I ordered the venison and egg breakfast biscuit with gravy and, my goodness, the venison was SO good. Although the biscuit was a bit more crunchy than I prefer, all the flavors came together well. For my drink and dessert, I got a refreshing white wine and dewberry punch and finished off the meal with their popular purple glazed donut. The waitress was attentive, but not overbearing and when I finished the meal, she was kind enough to cover my dessert. Overall, this place is warm and mellow - perfect for a date/ double date, or as a meet up spot for a smaller group. With its charming vintage interior decoration, warm reception provided by wait staff, and solid menu, I would definitely recommend it. 8/10 would recommend this place to others. read more
