As a pharmacy, it's honestly somewhat of a crap shoot--I've gotten prescriptions filled here with the wrong amount of tablets, and overall the folks there sometimes seem a little apathetic when it comes to dealing with customers. Maybe they see a lot of things, but they aren't always the most helpful and lines can tend to be long. Prices are what you'd expect for a convenience store. Definitely not a happy camper when I had to make a late night flour run here when I ran out of flour and had to pay $9 for a smaller flour container, but at least it was there! All in all, I'm happy this place is open 24/7. I do wish the exterior of this place was slightly cleaner, but that's not always their fault.

The prescription items I need, such as stimulants and azaleaic acid, are often out of stock. I know that can happen at any pharmacy, so I don't hold that against them. My biggest issue is the service. The pharmacists and pharmacy staff often present as though they dislike their job and the customers. Today I was told by a staff member that an item I needed was not available to order and I had to call other Walgreens to see if it was available. She also stated that she could not transfer my prescription to the other Walgreens pharmacy locations. Imagine my surprise when I finally located my medicine and the staff member at that other location was easily able to retrieve my prescription from this location. I don't know if that staff member was misinformed or simply lazy. Either way, it left a bad taste in my mouth. This is a very frustrating pharmacy location.

I kept getting texts saying my medication was ready, but everytime I called to double check, it was not. When I showed up she got me my medication within less than 30 minutes and was on top of it. (And she kept telling me to sit down and asking if I was ok) I'm extremely understanding that these places are overwhelmed. I've dealt with a really rude male pharmacist here, but Tracy has literally been a lifesaver Recently, I had called ahead of time to see what I needed for an early release (2 days early for a medication that is highly controlled due to me not being able to pick it up on the scheduled day) she told me exactly what to request from my doctor. (Which, I got ahold of my doctors office and told them) My doctor put in for my medication, but unfortunately, they did not put what Tracy needed them to put. It was night time and my doctors office was already closed. Tracy told me not to worry at all and that she would call them in the morning and get it taken care of for me. I honestly did not think much of it. I was fully prepared to call my doctors office / having to deal with it all on my own. Yet, I got a text saying my medication was ready in the morning. Tracy even called me personally (not just the automated generic voice message system they leave saying to come get your medication) Tracy called and told me that she had been calling my doctors office as soon as they opened and she had everything taken care of for me. It honestly made me cry. While dealing with so much such as a surgery and trying to get everything taken care of, it meant so much to me that she took care of everything for me and did not make a fuss about it. She literally went above and beyond and I'm extremely thankful that she not only does her job, but is extremely sympathetic and helpful. I parked inside as the rack outside was full and it's a $4,000 Super73 electric bike so having in inside with surveillance cameras facing it makes me feel safer about it. I've also been doing that for 5 years or so before the ordeal happened so it's not like it was my first time parking inside. Now the space between the end cap and the parking spot was tight so mounting on the bike and pushing it carefully backwards and out was the best option as i didn't want to knock anything over. The bike's main power switch was off during the whole ordeal by the way. Unfortunately the clerk didn't like i was on my bike moving it less than 1mph so she proceeded to yell at me about it. Anyhow that's neither here nor there. While the situation has passed and i said i wouldn't be giving this rite aid any more of my buisness i had to come back in as my parents still get their meds from here. I have moved out of California so i'm not here often anymore. Well, I stepped foot inside this rite aid for the first time in over a year and i noticed a few things. 1. the space I used to park my bike is way more open and easier to access then before. however I didn't use it as I drove my dad's car here. 2. Over the course of a week I've been in and out of this rite aid grabbing my amazon deliveries and my dad's meds and haven't seen the clerk who gave me attitude. 3. The store shelves seem more empty than usual and selection of items is not what it used to be. 4. The pharmacy staff are much friendlier than before and i had a nice experience over the week i was home, however the wait times do seem a bit slow. Overall seems things are getting better though a better selection of items and slightly lower wait times for the pharmacy would make this review 5 stars.

I had to go back and ask them to go through the manufacturers coupon and not the insurance, they kept arguing that my insurance covers it and I had to explain multiple times that I paid for the 1400 out of pocket. Eventually they agreed on a refund and then go through the manufacturer without the insurance getting involved.

I stopped at this location as it is closer to my house but I will go back to the Los Altos or Seal Beach CVS. This incident will be reported to the manager. The day it happened, I did not want to make a scene or say anything just yet as I was upset by the interaction. I will let people know that outside of this issue, the store was clean & orderly. I then asked for assistance from the manager, Jessie, but she did not take the time to properly review my situation. Even though I explained that my doctor had already sent the fax, she told me I could not receive my medication. Her tone felt impatient, and she raised her voice, which made me feel uncomfortable as a patient. Because of this, I had to contact my doctor again while waiting at the store. After they resent the information, the medication was eventually found in the system--but no one had taken the time to check thoroughly before. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes unnecessarily. I used to visit this CVS location often, and the staff was always helpful and professional. It was one of my favorite stores. However, after this experience, I feel nervous and uncomfortable returning, which is disappointing. I hope management addresses these issues, especially since this is a 24-hour location that many patients rely on. I would also like to recognize Liz, one of the pharmacists, who was very kind, patient, and helpful. She clearly explained everything and made sure I received my medication. Well, I have the answer to a previous reviewer's question of "where was the parking lot foot security guard" who should have been there as her husband was being attacked that one night... See, I had the unfortunate experience of "meeting" the officer one hot summer day recently. A friend and I were at the CVS pharmacy to get a cold drink and drop off her prescription, and upon leaving the store, (we were on foot), we were tired and my friend felt a bit dizzy, so we sat down for a few minutes outside the store and drank the Arizona iced teas we'd just bought there. There were no benches or anything, so we sat on the ground (sidewalk) in the shade in front of the store. We were just about to leave, when said security "wanna-be policeman" walked up and told us we had to leave. We started to explain that we were just resting a moment and he got extremely authoritative for no apparent reason.. demanding that we leave the premises immediately! We were a bit taken aback and a bit offended as we started to move along as ordered, and it wasn't so much that we were being asked to leave, as it was the manner in which this security "bulldog" had approached us, for like I said, we were just about to go anyways and had done absolutely nothing wrong. So we both stopped and said "Ya know, we really should report this guy to his security company", - for this just was not something that any right-thinking person would call "normal procedure"; this was rude and somewhat discriminating; downright "harassment", actually. So we turned around, went up to him, and asked for a badge number or his name. At this, he immediately called the police, telling them about how we were loitering, disturbing the peace, and now "threatening" him! We talked loudly as he made his call " No, we are NOT. We're merely asking for his badge number, etc. Can we have your name or ba..."?... Well, he would end up giving us neither, but then decided to falsely accuse my friend of STEALING from the pharmacy in the past, (a complete "lie"!) , and he said he'd seen me there "hanging around" in the past, as well (Again, not at all true.). Now we were both truly offended by these verbal personal "attacks"; & yes, we were MAD. The next thing we know, within a couple of minutes of his call, the LB Bicycle Police came riding up and we were instructed to show them ID's, asked questions, given a complete 'rundown', as the security officer strolled quietly along on his merry way, smiling and content. The LB Bike Police also treated us like common criminals, we felt. The whole experience left us both upset and somewhat astonished, at how this all could have come to pass when we were just there so innocently that day. I won't be going back there ever again, and I would advise anyone else to do the same. read more

Visiting this CVS location made me feel dirty, uncomfortable and unsafe. Not only was the carpet cringeworthy to walk on, but the overall feel of it was unsettling. There were homeless inside the store taking up the seating in the pharmacy wait area, which was crowded because the line was so long. The smell was very unpleasant. My child was afraid because there was one woman with a cart full of trash beside her, muttering in an unknown language to her and making clicking noises. The only security in the store was at the front to deter theft. Customer safety is apparently not top on the list here I'm guessing. Aside from the insanely long wait time and the medications that were not available, the customer service was definitely the worst I have ever been exposed to. I felt talked down to and bullied. I was sent from one window to the next and skipped and ignored. Someone really needs to take action at this place. This is the only CVS pharmacy in walking distance to me and since Rite Aid closed, I am forced to go here for my family's medications. Do better CVS. And please could someone answer the phone there. I have not been able to get through once in weeks. read more

I give this place two stars. The cashiers and staff aren't very friendly who knows where they find those workers. Bums guard the door better than the security guard, although they think everyone wants to steal their crap. I've been hit up to be robbed for my phone at about 4 in the afternoon outside the store its the crazed/drug addicts/bums right outside their door they should worry about. Just be careful if shopping here and check your prescriptions carefully, they have a tendency to short medications and you almost always must call ahead of time to pick up your medicine because chances are its not ready. And the cashiers services are unbelievably slow, it may take you 10 mins. to buy a candy bar. read more

What in the Heck is a CODE 7? Everytime My Boyfriend walks into CVS, Some Hispanic Lady says "Security Walk the floor Code 7" LMFAO!! Every single time ME and HIM walk in OMG!! Security Walk the Floor! We've never stolen anything from there. I believe it's Racial Discrimination, it happens right when we walk in. Today we had walked around the store trying to decide on what to buy to eat and the same lady or sometimes the younger girl that works there ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS says "Security walk the floor code 7" Today she mentions our area that were in looking for soda in, My boyfriend is 6'3, He says "That we're the only ones over here" Racial Discrimination. read more

I have dealt with Regene who is professional and customer service oriented and super nice and understanding. I get all my medication for my Mom at this pharmacy. They also mail her medication if needed. The only thing that it's in inconvenient is that I can't keep track of my Moms medication with an app or the refills. I have to call every so often every time I need refills, it's not automatically done. For me doing everything for my mom and trying to keep up with her meds it's very hard. Also they don't have the permissions to fill prescriptions pain meds, and the last is they are not open on weekends. All those is very hard. I just want to give anyone a heads up for the cons. Everything else is exceptional with this pharmacy.

Things I love about this Pharmacy:…read more 1. The employees: Eric and Arthur are probably some of the most caring people you will ever meet! I had two pharmacy rotation here and I was incredibly grateful with how patient, dedicated and knowledgeable they are 2. Location: This pharmacy is located inside the Out of The Closet (OTC) Thrift Shop. Say what? You can get your hands on some sweet deals while you wait or pick up your medications! 3. Free delivery and Cal/Calender Paks: To improve adherence to HIV/medications, AHF offers free monthly deliveries as well as medications in cute individualized baggie (if you're on the go) or a large calendar pack (a larger version of a blister pack for gum) 4. Low income assistance: Can't afford PREP/HIV Medication? They can help you get connected with someone who can help! There is a government assistant program which helps cover all or most of the medication 5. Needles/Syringes: This AHF Pharmacy at Long Beach is one of the only/few locations that sells syringes without a prescription in packs (10/bag). The shorts are $2.50 (50cc/ holds half an mL), mediums and longs (holds 1 mL) are $2.00. I believe small sharps containers go for $4 each. Make sure you have one because safe disposal of syringes is everything 6. Free medication take back: The pharmacy accepts medications you no longer want and safety disposes of them. Please note: they currently do NOT accept used/unused syringes 7. Free HIV testing and condoms: Free HIV testing is offered towards the back of the thrift store --not part of the pharmacy (ask store employee and they can help walk you to the back). There are free condoms next to the cashier, at the pharmacy, and in the waiting area for HIV testing 8. Others: They also sell drinks, health supplements, and protein bars. The individual drinks are nice and cold and are super affordable --just remember to pay for them at the pharmacy 9. Monthly calls: They provide monthly calls to check-up on any changes to medications and to see how you are doing. Please let them know if your address has changed if you have your medications delivered. If you're comfortable with your medications and prefer to opt out, you can let them know --they may still call to verify that your address/ medications hasn't changed but they will not ask the 5-8 questions regarding your health or medications 10. Free pill box: If you are a patient and need a pill box to help organize your medications, feel free to ask for one! If you need a pill splitter, they might have one of those too. Important FYIs: 1. Free STD/STI Testing - This is is offered at the unmarked clinic next door, ONLY on Mondays 5-9 PM. I believe patients start lining up at 4:30PM because the place gets packed quickly and it's on a first come, first serve basis 2. Regular appointments at AHF Healthcare at Long Beach currently are from 10AM - 5PM, the phone line should available by 8:30AM since that is when the office assistant comes in 3. Parking: Parking is located at the back of the Out of the Closet Thrift Shop (hot pink building, you can't miss it!). You do NOT want to part at the front of the building (on PCH) because your car will be ticketed starting at 3PM --I don't believe the signs are clearly marked 4. Government assistance: For those that receive government assistance to cover the cost of HIV medications, make sure you ask for info regarding how to renew/update/provide salary information every 6 months --it's required for coverage but they unfortunately do not send out reminders 5. Specialty pharmacy: This pharmacy specializes in HIV medications but also provides maintenance medications and all the typical prescriptions (most patients have their medications delivered. So if it's something they don't usually see, it may need to be ordered)

Everyone here seems to be on point when it comes to information regarding my concerns. They are very knowledgeable about medications, and even though they might not have an answer for me then and there they always follow up by giving me a phone call. I truly admire this pharmacy, seeing that many other pharmacies just seem to be very rushed and don't truly greet you or explain the information and instructions in detail. I recall having a specific question about my medication which they couldn't resolve, but once they called my physician they were able to resolve it, seeing the physician sent it incorrectly. I cannot say enough about this pharmacy. It's such a simple process to go in and obtain my medication. It's unfortunate about these other reviews seeing I have never had any difficulties or problems. If anything I truly admire them for being so caring. It truly feels pleasant and be heard when a person truly takes the time to listen and empathize with a patient. Thank you AHF Long Beach for always answering my questions and being very welcoming along with attentive towards me and I'm sure to others. You guys are the best.

They had great reviews and I figured we could get more attentive service with a smaller pharmacy. Unfortunately, here I am for the third time, waiting for a prescription after calling in three hours ago and being told all my prescriptions would be ready. Out of the four I requested, they had said one they were already working on so it would be ready with the other three. Great! I thought... Lo and behold, upon pickup, three hours later, it was NOT ready and nobody knew why it was just sitting in the queue. Regardless, if I had other prescriptions requested, I'm not sure why they wouldn't complete that one along with the others. Seems like common sense. I used to work in a retail pharmacy so I know things can happen, but this place has just consistently dropped the ball: not following up, not ordering when out of stock, not having prescriptions ready when promised. My husband has also had similar experiences. I just wanted a place that was helpful and reliable. Unfortunately, this is not it. And the customer service is more miss than hit, which only adds to the frustration. After today, I am working on transferring both my husband's and my own prescriptions.

I was having many issues with trying to get…read moremy prescription filled at CVS and the employees went above and beyond and even called my insurance to make sure I was able to get my prescription. There was a new staff who assisted me when I went to pick up and she seemed a little confused and forgot to give me all of my prescriptions. But I'm understanding of new employees. Just hope they continue to train this employee and teach her everything since I asked when I got there about my prescriptions but she insisted it was all there. All in all it got figured out. I'm just grateful they were able to help me get my prescriptions finally.
