This is our neighborhood Rite-Aid, and we can always pass by here when walking back from downtown Long Beach. We discovered last year (yeah...took us a while) that they have an ice cream parlour inside of it, serving hand-scooped Thrifty-brand ice cream for a really, really value price. Well...due to a plumbing issue, it's been closed for months now...but we stopped by yesterday, and it's baaack. The counter is located right in front, left of the registers. Since there is usually nobody there and it's no different at Rite-Aid to find someone to help you, the right move is to stand-in line at the register and pay first. They will then call somebody over to help. It's $1.99 for one scoop in a cake or sugar cone, and they have a great selection of interesting flavors. I get the mocha almond fudge or rocky road, while other interesting flavors are coconut pinapple, medieval madness. It's scooped using a unique cylinder ice cream scoop, and they are very generous with the portion (one scoop is plenty...some staff will choose to give 2 smaller scoops to make the one 'scoop'). The ice cream is probably a bit below average in terms of taste and creaminess for a gourmet ice cream (reminded me of the ice cream you can serve yourself in a chinese buffet), but it's $1.99, folks. One can't beat the experience of walking back to your home on a hot, sunny SoCal afternoon, trying to lick the ice cream in the right places at the right times so it doesn't melt all over your hands. Ice cream trucks/carts don't seem to serve hand-dipped ice cream anymore, so this experience really reminds me of an earlier time. It took about 20 minutes for two people to find the key to help me use the bathroom. I almost peed myself. On top of that, bathroom looked like the backrooms and the toilets were clogged. There's one pharmacist here who is very rude and snarky. I came in some time ago to fill a prescription while visiting a friend who lived in the area. My insurance wasn't covering a certain medication so I had to pay full price, related to an auto immune disorder. The manufacturer's website had a link to some discounts so I decided I may as well try. The pharmacist shook her head and proceeded to verbally slap my wrist for wanting to afford the medication without paying the extortionist full price. Like hello? I didn't choose to have this condition, and I certainly didn't choose the insanely high price point. But she acted like I was shirking a responsibility to pay a massive pharmaceutical conglomerate over $1000. I kept my cool in the moment but then I saw a different review detailing EXACTLY what happened to me and thought I'd say something. If I caught her name I would report her to corporate. She should not be working in healthcare when she openly prioritizes profits over the health of her community members. Disgusting. read more

Went to pick up my prescription which was transferred without my knowledge to this location. The line upfront was very long as was the pharmacy line. They announced that the people were waiting in line could go back to the pharmacy. So that meant the people in the pharmacy had to wait because only one person can be at the counter due to privacy issues. I will be transferring my prescriptions to another location read more

This is very frustrating to have to write about this again, but I showed up at the front doors tonight at 8:52pm and the doors were locked with the metal gates down. I'm very curious to know, what time does this location close? Obviously it is not 9:00pm as stated right on their doors and online. I could see two associates through one of the windows and they were just chatting next to the registers. I decided to try calling to inquire about the closing time and it rang through and as it did I saw one of the associates look out the window at me, look away, and then the call put me back through to the automated line. I called back again, and mind you this was now 8:56, still before the listed closing time and the automated message had changed to "this location is closed for the night." It makes me wonder if they hadn't shut off their phones even though they decided to lock up and close early. I really hope someone from corporate sees this message because they either need a new night crew, or they need to update their hours. If a place is listed as open until a certain time, it should be open until that time. People need last minute items from stores. This is also coming from someone who has worked in customer service and hospitality and when working in a restaurant if some one came in 5 minutes to closing we still had to go through the entire service from start to finish. I've come here a number of times: for ice cream, random drinks, health/wellness items, and most recently for a COVID shot. They did the COVID booster shot really well! I called ahead and they were able to get me in for an appointment and the women who gave me my shot was really pleasant and personable. If you're looking for a snack, water, convenience item, or a pharmacy -- or even for a COVID shot, this Rite Aid on Pine is a great option! The closest parking is metered and paid, but you can do 15-minute free parking at the meters by pressing the "OK" button on the meter if you need to run in for a quick grab and go. read more

So I walked over to my favorite convenience store to get some snacks and I was met with piercing eyes coming from behind the register. Of course, being accustomed to haters I continued on with my journey, grabbed what I needed and lined up to pay. The cashier scanned my items and moved to speak to another customer. A tall handsome veteran from the old folks home with vintage aviators. He called my dog fat, but I just smiled politely because I was raised to respect my elders. The cashier finally came back to help me and asked me if I wanted a bag? I said Yes and then I paid and she pushed my items forward but I interrupted her and said I wanted a bag and she responded with "you said you didn't want a bag, it's 10 cents" I pretended not to act shocked at the fact that this lady was trying to gas light me in a rite aid. I realized I didn't want to engage in a power struggle on my day off so I scrambled through my purse and managed to find two Thomas Jays and handed them to her. Pharmacist was incredibly unprofessional and rude to me because I used a GoodRX coupon. I have a sleep disorder. I fall asleep within minutes of sitting down. Sometimes I fall asleep while driving. This medication is supposed to help with that. Even though I have pretty good insurance, it costs $900 for a 30-day supply. The pharmacist asked me "Why do you even need this medication?" and make comments such as "We're losing so much money by only charging you $30." She kept repeating that they were losing so much money and that if I came back they wouldn't fill my prescription again with the coupon. She said she would fill it one time as a "courtesy" but not to come back. I'm trying to get more affordable medicine for a chronic condition. Clearly this pharmacist cares more about her company's profits than people. Never coming back here again. I'm getting my prescription filled at a different pharmacy from now on. read more

Feeling a little parched, I dropped into this Rite Aid to pick up a bottle of water and indulge in an ice cream cone. As my luck would have it, I walked up to a lone cashier named Tatiana to check out, followed by three separate customers. Not wanting to let Tatiana leave her register unattended to serve me my once cream cone, I suggested Tatiana whittle down the line by clearing out the awaiting customers. That's when Tatiana went into "turbo mode" by manning two registers to speed through the line of customers! As one customer waited for their debit/credit cards to process through, Tatiana would take the next customer on the other register! Although an associate of Tatiana's arrived soon after to serve me my cone, I was very impressed by Tatiana's adaptability and efficiency. My boyfriend and I went in there today and saw a guy get racially profiled by the guy at the registers. I was wearing a backpack and other people were wearing backpacks but once the person walked in (bipoc) also wearing a backpack he was immediately told to take it off and leave it at the counter. I was racially profiled by the pharmacist. I went to Rite Aid Pharmacy to buy a box of Primatene for my asthma. Primatene is an over the counter drug but it is kept behind the counter and you have to have an ID to purchase. The cashier at the pharmacy said, after checking my ID, that the transaction needed a Pharmacist approval. The pharmacist walked over, looked at me and said she wasn't going to approve the transaction. She didn't ask me if I was sick or even if I had asthma. She just told me, no. I explained to her because of the recent California fires and the air quality that my asthma had been terrible this week. She replied that if I want a box of over the counter Primatene, which I found out you can buy on Amazon, she said I would need a prescription, which is false. I'm a sick person trying to purchase medicine and was not able to because of one individual's perception of my character. I was able to go to CVS and purchase without hassle. Please train your staff to do and be better than this. I won't be shopping at Rite Aid any longer due to this experience. read more

I contacted the rite aid store manager and it was basically a waste of time. My complaint was with the homeless that walk in and harass the workers and the employees. He stated that it's the employees job to monitor the homeless. That's sad. They need a security guard considering the homeless that are building tents around the store and walking in stealing and harassing people. I had the worse experience in a store at this location and the manager at this store (#05518) is the dumbest person I've ever met. I bought an hp cartridge (60) from them today and as soon as I got home and checked my printer, I realized I had bought the wrong cartridge (should be 61) so I returned to the store immediately (within 15 minutes) with the aim of exchanging the 60 for a 61..the manager looked at me and told me the cartridge (they sold to me) is empty and that I had gone to empty the cartridge and brought it back..how can I empty a catridge that's not even compatible with my printer??? And how does he just shake it and know that its empty??? That means they sold an empty catridge to me! This is just $30 and I could have bought a new one but this manager decided to treat me like a thief..Please save yourself this embarrassment by not going to this rite aid location on Pine! read more

Despite its relatively convenient location, this is possibly one of the worst Rite Aids ever. Perhaps dealing with local riff raff has simply jaded the employees, but this is no reason to be treated with rudeness and general disrespect. Only one or two staff members seem interested in helping customers at all. The pharmacists consistently skip over people who have been waiting and the employees working the photo print and Western Union are completely rude. Most recently, we were greeted with a sneer and were told simply, "It's going to be a while." Considering this location is just one in a chain of hundreds, I know businesses as such are disinterested in these reviews.
