The woman working the pharmacy checked us in, and she was also responsible for the drive-thru and all regular pharmacy traffic. Honestly, it was too much for one person to reasonably handle in a respectable amount of time. I felt bad for her. She was patient and calm despite everything, but you could tell it was taking its toll. Walgreens needs to do better about staffing. Beyond that, it wasn't a bad experience all things considered. We got all of our shots within a couple of minutes ultimately. But, as we had appointments of 3:30, 3:45, and 4:00, yet we didn't get out of there until close to 4:30, that was a bit of a chore. I'm not sure I would make this my primary pharmacy in the future. If they don't care to staff any better than my current one, then why should I switch?

More than that, you might want to do some shopping and come back in 5 -10 minutes. Any case, the folks are always friendly and eager to help. They know your name, remind you about shots, .. Other folks in line are also friendly in my experience. It's "contagious." Out of 16 meds, there's one specialized script that I can't get there. I have a workaround, though, so it's not a big deal.

The man who helped me quoted a price for the first item that is more than twice the price I knew was advertised online. My mobility issues were plainly visible to him and anyone who laid eyes on me, so he knew I needed the items I asked about. I pulled out my phone and showed him the website with the first product and its price, which included free overnight delivery to my home. I asked if he will price-match. He refused to price-match or compromise. He claimed the online price "eats into our cost too much," which besides being a nonsensical statement is belied by the fact that numerous sellers offer it for the same price. He then volunteered his opinion that, "That's Mr. Bezos's money, anyhow," as if his misunderstanding of e-commerce somehow justifies trying to gouge me. He asked if I still wanted the second item, which was not "new in the box," and quoted a price far higher than what I had seen online. I declined and left. As a side note, this store is thoroughly and prominently accessorized with numerous religious symbols and declarations of faith. That made me wonder how the owner of this place rationalizes the principles of his/her/their faith with gouging people in medical need. I regret not asking, if only to satisfy my curiosity. I spoke to the staff pharmacist Brenda Ballantine and she was condescending, unhelpful, and yelled details of my prescription and costs from the back of the pharmacy over 10 feet away. There was another customer and a pharmacist nearby who could hear the whole conversation. This is in violation of HIPAA privacy laws which she must have been aware of. I ended up paying full price for my prescription because it was easier and faster than dealing with her and I didn't want to have this conversation with so many people listening. After I got home I spoke to a friend about the experience and they said that she had done the same thing to them. I can only hope the pharmacy manager reads this and speaks to her about following proper pharmacy procedures and keeping patient information private.

They were not at all nice about it, and that surprised me, because I've gotten prescriptions filled there in the past and they are usually competent and courteous. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes for the shot and I felt that it was very much a problem for them. So, if you want to get your flu shot at Giant, be sure to go early in the day and hope for the best. They obviously do not have the staff to provide this service, even though they advertise it aggressively. Next year I will get my shot elsewhere or not at all.
