Great little local drug store. They offer services that the chain stores don't, I highly recommend them. They're super friendly, helpful and compassionate. They saved the day for my family and our sick cat. I will be forever grateful for the services they provide. They were able to compound her medications into tuna favored liquid that we could squirt in her mouth or the better tasting stuff she just licked up or ate in her food. Our kitty was diagnosed with Lymphoma, the vet prescribed steroids to make her time left comfortable and suggested we get it compounded here. It was more expensive than pills were but I would pay twice what I did to not have to pill her everyday. The medication they compounded added weeks to her terminal diagnosis, and gave her a quality of life that would of been impossible without the medication. If we had not gotten the liquid we would of had to put her to sleep weeks before we did. If you have a pet that takes pills I highly recommend asking your vet if it can be compounded here, it is so worth it for you and your pet, especially if you have a cat. They will explain how to store it and administer it. The medication even came with the little syringe. I wish it was closer to my home so I could use it for my monthly prescriptions. read more

The manager, Andrew answers all of my questions with endearing confidence and makes me feel completely comfortable. I am always looking for natural products, vitamins and essential oils. I purchased some expensive essential oils from Cape Drugs and when I got home they were dry and looked use. I returned 36 hours later with 2 of the 5 bottles I purchased and was told there are no returns....even after I explained the oils were DRY and they both looked used. (the cap and opening was all dirty & gritty) The pharmacist in charge would not work with me and I was told that I would have to return on a Monday to talk to a different pharmacist. I explained that I lived far away and that I had already made 2 trips and would not be able to make a 3rd trip for this problem.... The pharmacist in charge stood there arms folded scowling and quite upset with me told me "that my oils were probably damaged in shipment" and then she cleaned the bottle and handed it back to me. Really? Damaged in shipment and that is somehow the consumer's fault. My experience shows that pharmacies should stick to the product they know best and for Cape Drugs its not essential oils. NO RETURNS is their blanket policy...even when it appears they are at fault....be careful with anything you buy from Cape Drugs. This place used to be great. Friendly and helpful staff were the hallmark of this drugstore. Now? Not so much. I called this morning and was put on hold for more than 10 minutes, then hung up on. I called back and was asked if I could hold, placed on hold before I could answer and then hung up on AGAIN! I thought I'd give them one more chance and called again. The phone was answered by one of the rudest women I've had the misfortune to deal with. When she answered "Cape Drug" I said please don't hang up on me again and she started to argue with me! Terrible terrible customer service. You would think that with the more than 20 drugstores in close proximity, CVS's, Safeways, Giants, Walgreens, and Rite Aids, they would have a more friendly person to answer the phone. When I finally got the pharmacist and complained, he said "Sure, whatever. What do you want?" Seriously?!?!? I want better customer service. I will think twice before calling this place. Only if I'm seriously desperate. read more

We were referred to this pharmacy through our vet's office when our oldest dog Belle, a pom, got a cough. They were the only place we could find, and we looked at all the larger chains, and even on-line, but Cape Apothecary was the only one who could fill her prescription in liquid form. Belle suffers from esophageal strictures, so we couldn't give her pills for fear that she would choke. They were so wonderful. I loved everything about this small homey pharmacy, reminded me of the days when pharmacies were smaller and more family oriented. We also have another pom, Chloe, who was just diagnosed with GME (inflammation in the brain). She had been having seizures for over a year and we thought she had canine epilepsy but found out recently, after cluster seizures, five in an hour, and a three day hospital stay, that Chloe has GME. Cape Apothecary had been filling her prescription for liquid KBR. They were my first choice for filling Chloe's new medications (the hospital filled the first batch). Chloe is currently going to be on four medications. I am trusting Cape Apothecary to take care of her prescription needs just like they did with our Belle. We have not, up to this point, had a problem with Cape Apothecary and know that they will take good care of Chloe for us. The pharmacist and staff that we have dealt with have been very helpful, understanding, and pleasant, including the lady that runs the gift shop. I love everything so far about Cape Apothecary. read more

We've used Cape Drugs for 7 years--even though we have to commute an hour away (totally worth the drive). The store is homey, tidy, and has an eclectic mixture of products. We've never had an issue with rudeness or bad products. I purchased tinctures from them when I was pregnant and now regularly go to them to get my dog's medication compounded (which would cost over twice as much through the vets or even though the internet). They do a fantastic job at this, and she's been Cushing's-free for over 6 years because of them. I've only seen one woman who works at the pharmacy desk, and she has always very pleasant. There's another woman who runs the register at the gift shop, but she's also been very kind and polite (my daughter loves to chat with her). The two gentlemen who work there are also both very polite. Perhaps they had someone terrible (who maybe was fired) in 2015, but we've never had the misfortune to run into her. Hoping this unique drug store is around for many more years to come. read more
