The good, the bad and the downright ugly. The good: open 24 hours, can park in the back, brightly lit, has some good healthy snacks, had a very helpful pharmacist (the pregnant West Indian woman). Two very nice cashiers (the one with the headscarf and the one with the short hair). The bad: filthy carpet (sometimes smells musty), shelves often blocked by merchandise needing to be stocked. The ugly: That horrible cashier--always blatantly rude and nasty. She is the one who works at the photo counter. What is really unfortunate is she is the one who is giving the other cashiers a bad reputation. She is a combination of the bitter older woman (I should have gone to school and done something with my life), and the mean high school girl who tries to hide her insecurity with intimidation, and ladies did you notice that she is actually only rude to us. She is all over the men like a hungry cat looking to lap up some milk. I have only seen the manager twice. One gets the sense that up against mean girl he is just the kid with the pocket protector. Why doesn't he ask CVS to do a survey of this store's customers so they can build a case against this woman and get rid of her? Or, how about some mystery shoppers? I was absolutely shocked by my experience at this cvs. This was my first time at this location and I was there to pick up a photo order. I waited in line and was called up to the front. I stepped up to get assistance and said, "I'm here to pick up a photo order." The lady asked for my last name, I said "Smith" she then walked away talking to her co-workers angrily about someone who was on break. She came back to me with no order and said "are you sure you ordered something?" with the most attitude I have ever received. I said "Yes, I can pull up the email. I ordered it on January 20th." she then scoffed and checked again. She asked the other team members if they keep orders from the 20th and they said yes and continued working with the next person. She threw the photo order on the counter. In shock, I was just starring while she scanned the items. I then reached into my wallet to get my card and she said "is there a problem" I said no & continued my transaction and she handed me my receipt. I am so shocked beyond belief that she is a manager and for no reason was rude to a customer. Everyone in line was shocked too. This is not ok & I believe she needs to be spoken to. Her name is Deandrea and she is a "Team Member Manager." There was literally no reason for her to be rude to me, I never reacted to her rudeness with attitude back and everyone around me was in shock. CVS should really consider the type of people they have running their store and interacting with customers. If you own a gun, I would encourage you to leave it at home before coming to this CVS location, as you are likely to kill everyone in sight, perhaps even yourself. It's the worst. The most incompetent (and absent) staff of maybe any store I've been in anywhere. This place needs new management in a big way. It's like the CVS location that time forgot. No matter what time of day or day of the week, there is always a long ass line to check out and never enough employees there to wait on customers. I actually like this CVS. I have never used the Pharmacy but then, I never use chain pharmacies unless I absolutely have to which isn't often. I actually schlep here from Sunset Park just for the savings. Yup, I waste 4.50 to travel here just because the sales are THAT good. To me as a chain overall CVS offers the lowest prices, especially on sale items, throw in the extra bucks and special coupons and you got it made! I like this store because it's always empty. Maybe all the bad reviews? Either way I never have to worry about long lines here, but maybe I just have great timing. One thing I DO hate is when they have something really good on sale, it's never on the shelf! Today I scored $36 dollars worth of hair products for $16 AND got a $5 extra bucks coupon, which I used on my second purchase (I'm one of those extreme couponers when it comes to beauty supplies lol) $50 worth of Maybelline products and each one was buy one get one half off, throw in $10 off using the machine in the front of the store that printed out a coupon by scanning my card (5 off maybelline products/5 off 20 or more skin care items) plus my $5 extra bucks, and I spent less $14 on makeup. I wouldn't care how shitty the service is, with prices like that here in NY, I am a happy camper!!! read more

I go in to pick up a prescription I dropped off a few days earlier. I wait in line to speak to the pharmacist for 15 minutes . I give the pharmacist my name. I wait some more. The pharmacist asks to speak to me privately. The pharmacist questions me about my prescription. I answer some questions I don't think are relevant. The pharmacist says my insurance will not cover my prescription. I say my insurance has been covering this prescription for quite some time. I ask the pharmacist for more information. The pharmacist mumbles something. I ask him to repeat himself. The pharmacist says I don't look like I "need" this prescription. I say "what?" The pharmacist then declines to fill my prescription. I become upset. I sort of call the pharmacist a jerk. I ask for my prescription back. The pharmacist will not give me back my original prescription. Much yelling ensues. Eventually original prescription is returned to me. I leave, never to return. read more

The dim lighting and stacks of boxes littering the aisles allow me to test my agility and navigation skills. The pharmacists often appear to have a reasonable degree of interpersonal skill. And the self-checkout machines work at least 50% of the time. Great CVS? Or GREATEST CVS? I think the answer is clear. read more

In comparison to the other local pharmacies (Rite Aid on 5th), this one has been consistently okay. I've never had a problem with my prescriptions, they've never misfiled it, and the pharmacist assistants went out of their way twice in helping me sort out insurance issues, going so far as calling me on my cell phone to tell me the results. Worst, most unprofessional customer care ever! I should just stop going there, and CVS should look into that store as they are maing the whole chain look bad. 1st- when they stock,they block off whole isles to the point where you cannot even squeeze through to find what you are looking for. They always have what I'm there for but I always wish I spent the time waiting in line just walking to Neergaard or somewhere instead. This CVS has a great card selection (reminds me of what I used to find at a Hallmark) and they have quite a few dry goods; I picked up Hershey's powdered chocolate here, in a pinch. They have lots of gift wrap and ribbons, as well as sweets for gift giving. They have a pharmacy, as well. Customer service is always great! Between the self service machines and the cashiers, there are very short ques. They have a parking lot for those who like that. And it's in a great location on 9th St between 6th Ave and 7th Ave. read more

They never have my very common name brand medication in stock. They are slow and not responsive to customers.

A mix of pretty good and very bad. They're consistently understaffed, and about half of their pharmacists are weak in English and slow. However, the chief pharmacists are very good. The assistants who give you the pickup packages are for the most part even weaker in English an even slower. The store seems to be a training site for inexperienced pharmacists and helpers, and there is constant turnover. They have a parking lot, which is a great convenience, and they check it constantly for people who aren't going to the store. They tow and charge $200, so don't even think about going anywhere else. Deliveries for the store on Thursdays, so you can't use the parking area then. The "front" of the store (for non-pharmacy items) is large and well stocked. read more

The pharmacist Slava was incredibly rude and unhelpful. He refused service to us saving we did not health insurance (which we do) and didn't help try to call our insurance to get it sorted. He made us feel uncomfortable and just told us we were rejected since we "don't have insurance". I will think again next time about going to their pharmacy. Be very mindful of whom you deal with at this store, they obviously only help a particular group of people. The pharmacy will help you with limited explanation or reason if your prescription is incomplete, even with the phone call saying come and get your prescription "it's ready for pick up", only to get a song and dance after the fact. They rather turn you around and send you away instead of making a phone call or answering a few questions. They are zombies to humanity, pretty sad and scary at the same time. They gave me completely wrong information on my insurance and they are so codependent on technology, they will not follow up or explain to you what you need to do to get your medication, I feel as if they don't know or they help a "selected group". Thank goodness I work in healthcare, after listening to them I would of paid $500 for some medication or basically went without medication. Even after I called and spoke to a technician over the phone, he was completely dismissive and basically told me to get my meds someplace else....LOL at this point I could only laugh. I only needed an authorization from my doctor, which they were supposed to process before telling me to come to the store. I also had to call my insurance so they can fax some paperwork to my doctor's office for authorization, which CVS is responsible for doing once the medication comes up as "authorization needed". They should of notify my doctor when the insurance asked for authorization, it's so funny they are so dependent on technology and "can't even use it correctly".... I feel really bad for individuals who don't understand the whole insurance process because these CVS workers (I'm talking about the pharmacy workers) would not assist or help you, who knows how many people they have misguided, people are probably paying for meds that they shouldn't be paying for or people deciding to simply not get the meds because they were basically led to believe that they have no option. I don't know why but I love shopping at this CVS location. It makes me feel like I'm at a friendly southern store because it has a parking lot, friendly staff that greet me at the entrance and the manager who is always going out of his way to help me when they have those sales item that sell out quickly. The store is also pretty spacious and tidy and it's very close to my second home in Brooklyn. I think I visit this location at least once a week looking for deals. I use this store frequently and for the most part it's okay as far as chain drugstores go. My big complaint is with their new signs on the entrance doors that say " We are pet friendly, but sorry no dogs allowed. Except service dogs". What's pet friendly about that? I lived near the hospital from 98-00 so this was my CVS. Then I moved closer to Flatbush so Duane Reade was my place. Now I live halfway between. I had been hearing rumors that things have improved and I have to say based on my recent experiences things are a little better. (Mainly because on 3 of my 4 most recent visits I used self check out) the 4th time I returned a thermometer that I not only opened but did not have a receipt for and they credited me. Great cashiers, friendly staff, I always find what I need. I simply can't find anything bad to say about this place. They have a self checkout counter, I personally avoid them in all places that have them.The workers here make my experience amazing. I don't go here for the pharmacy, however I do come here just about everything else. The extra care system is great with extra bucks etc. A lot of the staff is really sweet, except Lifa. Avoid her by all means she's just so moody and disrespectful. However she's somehow been there since the grand opening of the store. I had a strangely amazing experience at the CVS tonight. The manager - a nice guy from New Jersey named Mike, welcomed me with a cheery smile, when I entered the store. Then as I wondered around trying to find some organic healthy nail polish ( a long shot I know ) he asked me if I was finding everything I needed. So we engaged in a conversation about organic stuff- and natural nail polish and he explained that they were renovating the store in July and adding many organic and natural products including natural cosmetics. I was shocked and delighted. But MIKE!! He was sweet, kind, connecting, and when he talked about "His" store and how he wanted tit to be friendly and comfortable - I really got that THIS was MIke's store. And if this wasn't delightful enough - he helped me check out at the self check out- I told him how much I hated the self check out - and he did the check out part for me - and I told him how it was putting people out of jobs- and he assured me that it wasn't true - that it freed up about 100 hours for staff members to organize the store and help the customers find everything. It was such a great experience I will shop there more often. Mike went above and beyond. You HAVE TO go have the MIKE experience. You'll thank me. read more
