What a disappointment on our second visit to Curly's. One of our party was the last to be served and when he was his jerk chicken was raw on the inside. It was too late to order another dish and they did not charge us for that dinner and he left with a free slice of pie. The waitress was friendly, professional but clearly embarrassed by the the underdone chicken dish. Two of our group ordered the Del Monaco steak which was tasty and cooked to order but the accompanying mashed potatoes and vegetables were saltless and tasteless. We were looking forward to sharing our first experience with guests but left disappointed. We were told this was the new fall menu and that all new staff had been hired. I think they have to work out the kinks and we hope to return then. read more

Made reservations for NYE. We were seated within 5 minutes, just enough time for us to get our coats checked. When we were ordering, my boyfriend asked the waitress which she recommended more: the lamb or the prime rib. She then said it was sold out and they were substituting the Delmonico Steak in place of it. She said she would take the Delmonico over the lamb, so that's what he went with. I ordered the Sea Bass. Drinks and salads came out quickly and were delicious. Then our food was brought out by another server. A seafood pasta was delivered to me instead of the Sea Bass, and I normally wouldn't say something and would just eat it, but I really don't like clams, which was in the entree. The server needed to get my waitress and she was over within 2 minutes to apologize and took the plate back to the kitchen. The manager (at least that's who I'm assuming she was) came over to apologize as well and asked if we needed a refill on our drinks. We told her our waitress is already grabbing them, but thank you! My new (and correct) entree came out about 5 minutes later. I'm glad I spoke up because it was delicious! My boyfriend's steak wasn't the best he's had, and he was kind of disappointed, on top of having to wait to eat his meal for mine to be remade. When we finished and the check came, he was surprised to see that the "substituted" entree (Delmonico for Prime Rib) had a different price on it, while no one said anything before allowing him to order. He was also surprised that they didn't take anything off the bill for making a mistake with the order and requiring me to wait for my meal to be remade as he had his already. We'll consider returning because my dish was delicious, but I'll need to do some convincing with him! read more

I attended a conference here today and the food was very good. The wifi kept going down, so that was a bit of a bummer being as it was a tech conference, but the food was excellent in terms of buffet style food. I would like to go back on my own for dinner some night. read more

Our meal was good, not great. Two of our entrees that we ordered were not as wonderful as the last time we had them. We were celebrating a birthday. We told them when we made the reservation, and mentioned it to the waitress. They used to bring a treat for the birthday person at the end of the meal. Not this time. We ate here on Friday night, and it was amazing as always! We started off with the mussles. The special they had on Friday was a dijon sauce, and they were delicious! We really liked that the service did not bring out the next course until we finish the first. I love the bolognese, and order it almost every time I come here. This time was no different. It did not disappoint! My husband had a filet special, ordered medium rare. His steak came out as ordered. For dessert my husband ordered the cookies. You have to order the cookies early, like when you order your food, because they bake them fresh. I thought my husband was silly for ordering chocolate chip cookies for dessert, but these were amazing! They were warm, and soft and clearly fresh baked. There is definitely some extra spice in there, and it added an extra layer of flavor that we both liked. I would recommend Curly's to anyone, for any night out or event. It's a great place for a romantic dinner, gathering with friends or even a happy hour cocktail. read more

"New Owner Is Sending Curly's Downhill." Rating is based on old owner. Expect to wait 1.5 to 2 hrs to get food even when the restaurant almost empty - which will probably be the case under this new management. It is also pricy; even the staff does not know the price - most of the menu items now just say MP or market price. When you ask the staff what the price is they shrug shoulders and say "MARKET PRICE." They do not know anything more than that - in the dark. The new owners do this because if they put the prices on the menu dinners would leave without ordering. Most of the good staff left with the old owner. The new owner can be found at the bar but do not even bother because you will be a disappointment. He is way over his head; no skills at running a restaurant. Wait a year for it to turn over before you book a meal here. Our waitress disappeared for over a half hour. We asked other staff members to look for her and they all said she was nowhere to be found - go figure. When I found the new owner at the bar and explained that we had no food after 90 minutes he got angry and said - "YOU HAD SOUP DIDN'T YOU" I explained that no one at the table had soup. "WELL THEN, YOU HAD SALAD; RIGHT." I explained that no one at the table had salad. Did you have bread or appetizer? Yes we had bread and a bowel chips for the table. Well then; what are you complaining about. No one ordered soup or salad because we wanted to get to our meals ASAP and asked for the meal to be served as soon as available. Each time we asked the response was - "your meals need more work." Then our waitress disappeared from the restaurant. We asked other staff to look for her which they did. All came back to say she was no where to be found. So after 90 Minutes we left without eating except for bread and chips. Some staff were very sympathetic and clearly understood that the restaurant is mismanaged. Curly's is not recommended with this new ownership. read more

Curly's is fantastic! The quality of the food is amazing. Have been dining here since I was a kid and it's just gotten better and better over the years. There is only ONE thing I can think of that you need to know, is that good food takes TIME! You will NOT be in and out of here within an hour. You will experience a little longer wait time between courses, so if you are in a hurry wait to go until you can relax, and enjoy your meal beginning to end. I'd allow closer to two hours especially if a busy weekend evening. I've also been to banquets here and the room/s are beautiful with really great attentive staff. Definitely one of my favorite places. I just wish Krista & Kirk were still here but their amazing recipes live on! read more

My family had a death in the family and had the funeral lunch at Curly's. How could we go wrong with such a fine restaurant? It was a horrible experience. Since we didn't know how many people would be attending and took it from the 'book', when we gave our best number, based on those who attended the wake. Obviously this is not something we plan on a regular basis. We would have expected that this restaurant would have been able to provide for those who we had no idea would be attending (given the circumstances). They did not and ran out of food (how embarrassing for the family). In addition, they 'forgot' to call a table to go to the buffet. We also told them that we did not want any alcohol, but when someone (a close family member), asked for a sprite, he was given a hard time and they didn't want to provide that. We weren't aware that no alcohol meant no soda pop. When I told the 'manager' that we needed more of something, she said ok, but totally ignored my request. Nothing was refilled(including the salad dressing). The staff was totally oblivious to our requests for anything. The food was ok, but not enough to feed the guests that we had (reserved for 70, had about 86 people). Not sure how someone can get an accurate number from those who attend the funeral. I would think that a 'caterer' would be able to provide for the 'unknown'---shouldn't they be able to provide for a certain percentage over the number that is given? I don't think that Curly's allowed for anyone over the number of 70. Although we wanted to have a 'nice' lunch in honor of our aunt, I am pretty sure I would not choose this restaurant for anything in the future, it was truly a bad experience in a time when we were all grieving and hoped that the lunch would be the least of our concerns (but was not). read more

Had the steak burger and thought the food were cold. Even the rolls were cold. I've never had cold food before at a restaurant so this makes it my first. Even burgers at fast foods are warmer than the foods here :( Maybe I'll give them a chance again when the place is empty. read more

We've been fans of Curly's for many many years. This was our first time back under new ownership. Our experience was underwhelming. First, the restaurant was almost empty which is surprising for a Saturday night. We are used to this being a bustling atmosphere. The loud classic rock station in the bar was competing with the Muzak jazz station playing in the dining room. While the food was okay, it lacked the inspiration and culinary punch of the prior Chef. I had the pad Thai curry noodles with Chicken. $22. The portion was so small it was more like an appetizer. Others at our table had seafood entrees which were better. Being fully aware that this restaurant was under new management, my wife and I had an enjoyable experience back in March 2015 when the transition officially had taken place, and we decided to bring her parents, her sister and finance back to celebrate Father's Day - and I could not believe how much it changed. For starters, the menu was even more scaled back than before, and they replaced some of the more appealing items with lackluster selections that were a part of the table's choices. Instead of the appealing "Wolf-Fit" skillets that they used to have, they replaced it with skillets that used a overbearing Ginger Sauce, the vegetables were not fully cooked and there was a skimpy amount of meat. And when I say overbearing for the sauce, it had a very high-sodium taste and the contents were literally drowning in it. My mother-in law was not satisfied, and my future brother-in-law and myself ended up sharing the majority of the rest after she threw in the towel. Then, I was looking forward to the Jamaican Jerk Chicken dinner that I normally go with, only to find out that not only did they increase the price, they also gave me a smaller chicken portion, the potato selection was changed to under-cooked rice and beans, and they no longer provided the soup/salad option that used to be included in the meal. The chicken tasted about the same as it did in the past, but their retooling of the dish left me disappointed. My father-in-law had the worst of the lot, ordering a Hanger Steak with the same unappealing Rice and Beans. The steak tasted like rubber and he took one forkful of the R & B's and couldn't stomach it. The waitress did allow him to have the side replaced with Fries, and the Fries came back overcooked. When he explained the latest dissatisfaction, there was no further attempt to salvage his new experience with them. My wife (who is Gluten-intolerant) ordered a pork chop dinner (which replaced the much better pork tenderloin with vegetable and choice of potato, with soup/salad). So, for $29, she received a pork chop with a minuscule amount of mushrooms and garnish. The pork chop was adequate, at best, and my wife asked if she had an option for a separate side. She chose the fingerling potatoes, which mysteriously never arrived at our table (but happened to show on the receipt). My wife's sister had the same Chicken skillet as my mother-in-law had, and she was just content with it. My brother-in-law came out as the most satisfied, ordering one of the two burgers listed on the menu.........but was charged $0.50 extra for an order of fries (which to be seems a bit unnecessary to not include automatically). Our waitress did a better job pulling a disappearing act and accommodating other tables versus putting forth an effort into assisting us----apparently any dissatisfaction puts us in the wrong. I will give credit to the water girl who did a hell of a job keeping our glasses full, and the supporting staff who would occasionally come around to clear plates and replace bread. And all the while, the manager stayed in clear view, and never approached our table to ask if there was anything he could do---not a good sign for a restaurant that had a noted following under the original owners. Between the new food menu selections and the way the wait staff treated us, I am sad to say this might become a restaurant that is remembered for what it used to be. What makes it even more frustrating is that my wife already has a limited amount of places she can eat at, and this one takes another one out of the equation. To be fair, we will try Curly's one more time to see if things change. Otherwise, they will be losing a patron. read more

Had a reservation, but had to wait 15-20 minutes for our table. When I commented on the wait, I got a lecture instead of an apology. So, off to a weak start, but hungry and hopeful. The bread they broght us was like Wonder Bread -- really tasteless. The salad that came with the meal lacked personality... mixed greens and a few golden raisins. We both ordered the steak fillet special. The steaks very good, served with a generous portion of mashed potatoes.... but we thought the meal to be very over priced. The service was good, but a little slow. They were busy, but to me, that is not an excuse. It just means management is understaffing the place on a Saturday night. I would not eat here again.... bottom line, the food and over all experience was not worth the big check we paid for it. read more

We went before going to the botanical gardens since we have heard such good things. We were def not let down. Only complaint per se would be that we thought it was more of a bar and were expecting a slightly different menu. I ended up ordered the fish tacos which were an appetizer and a side of their fries for my actual dinner and my boyfriend had the steak sandwich. The fish tacos were only a special but they should consider adding them to the menu. The fish was snapper and was perfectly grilled and the sauce was amazing. That with the fries was more than enough for dinner. I had asked the waitress about the tacos before hand and she said that she loved them so I was sold. The boyfriend had the steak sandwich which even though it said it was a strip steak I was still thinking it would be chopped or sliced steak, nope it was a whole strip steak served on top of garlic bread. The steak was amazing, the seasoning and grilling really made it. The garlic bread was quite good only issue is that it did get a bit soggy by the last few bites. The atmosphere in there was pretty nice and the server was friendly and helpful without being overbearing. I def would recommend for people to go and I know I will return. read more

Jerk chicken, jerk wings, black bean soup and cioppino are my favorites. I have eaten lunch and dinner here at least 20 times over the years and always enjoy it. Their food is high quality. They are usually busy so service can get slow, but their service typically is very professional. I enjoy sitting at the bar too. Also, Krista's hot sauce is very good. read more

Called four times in two days to try and get something set up for a 20 person birthday party a week away and was told by Sara that Scott would call. He was "out" the day before. Last two times "oh he hasn't called?" I asked who the owner was and she said Kirk who was on vacation, at which point I understood why no one was in a hurry to call back for an event on a Tuesday evening for 20 people, and said so to Sara to which she said, oh, I'll have Scott call you right away. Within in 5 minutes he called, and offered to "waive" the deposit to hold the space for my "inconvenience". "Did you leave a message?"and said he could accomodate us off the menu and run a bar tab but couldn't dedicate any wait staff.....Obviously they they are unbelieveably busy on Tuesday nights right? Curly's did a great job for our rehearsal dinner last week. It was a busy Friday night, so their advice was spot-on to use one of the banquet rooms (about 25-30 people, extremely spacious but did not feel so large that it was empty). It had a great ambiance and was very comfortable and classy and private; some of our guests commented that it was absolutely one of the better rehearsal dinners they'd been to for those reasons. We selected a buffet package which our guests loved as it was both organized and really delicious- the salmon and the mashed potatoes were the crowd favorites. I personally loved their jerk chicken (never had it before, and it was well-seasoned). The broccoli was perfectly seasoned as well and not bland or boring at all. At the end they served the CUTEST key lime pies in personal pie tins to each guest with a tiny dollop of whipped cream on top. My only recommendation would be if you do have quite a few guests that plan to have a drink or several, to include some sort of bar package so that you get those served directly to you. We simply left the room for a moment to use the bar (all placed on one tab) but it was crowded as it was a Friday night, so just something to keep in mind for your planning purposes. Their staff did a great job and the price of about $20 per guest was extremely reasonable considering the services we received. I will recommend this option to others and come in for a dinner with my husband when we are back in town. read more

We went to Curly's late two nights ago, arriving 10 minutes before closing. We think they were hoping nobody else would come but we were graciously seated. My wife and I both ordered ceasar salads which were delicious and we could have shared one because they were so large. My wife ordered the pork entrée and I ordered the fish cooked in parchment. Both were over cooked and unenjoyable. We told this to the waitress who then offered to replace both entrees. We chose not to because it was so late so she gave us a couple of chocolate desserts to take home with us because of the problem. We felt that did little to compensate for very unenjoyable entrées. It seemed that the kitchen staff might have been multitasking because it was late and they wanted to go home. That should not happen in an upscale restaurant. read more

I have one word. Amazing. My boyfriend and I visited on a Wednesday evening around 7:30. It was a very relaxing low key atmosphere. I have a gluten allergy and as soon as I asked what was gf our server immediately brought me a gluten free menu. I was beyond surprised by the selection, most places I go the selection is basically salad and anything without the bun which usually ends up being a waste of my time. We started with the Jamaican jerk wings which were great. I was very surprised that they had gluten free bread for me (that made me the most happy) there's nothing worse than watching everyone chow down on bread before a meal while you just sit there. Then I ordered the spaghetti carbonara . The noodles were gf penne which was also great because I don't like spaghetti noodles. This pasta dish with the peas and the house cured bacon was out of this world. Didn't even notice the noodles were gluten free it was so good. Our family went to Curly's quite awhile ago and enjoyed it. We decided to give it a try again under new ownership and liked it even more. To start- a very nice tap beer selection and a knowledgeable mixologist behind the bar ( my mother loved her martini). For appetizers we split the gnocchi poutine, calamari and the Saratoga chips. Our favorite was the calamari - a nice crisp seasoned batter over salsa and topped with aioli. The gnocchi was excellent but was a considerably smaller portion. The Saratoga chips are definitely worth splitting and "munching on " while waiting for your order. For entrees, we got the barracuda fish special cooked to order in three different ways, all delicious, the pork chop special, and the shellfish linguine. Everything was excellent. The service was just as good. Our waitress, Sara J., was very personable and knowledgeable. We will definitely be returning soon. read more

I had been at Curlys In May and it was good! Last week a group of us girls went again...Sad. Bar was dead, dining room 3-4 tables so no reason for the exceptionally slow service, food dried out and one employee running around like they were slammed....we found it comical. After asking if they changed chefs (server said ya, end of summer)! now it made sense... did not send food back...just wanted to leave. As we did, only 1 person at bar and young employees hanging out talking (maybe as bored as we were). Total disappointment....ho-hum. Belongs in its location. read more

I've been here a couple times and each time I thought the same thing: Good food, but overpriced. It's almost as if this restaurant is having an identity crisis and doesn't know whether it should be classy or casual. I sat at a table next to a couple people in suits, but on the other side were some kids in flip flops and t shirts. I ordered this Cajun shrimp appetizer and it was like $14 for 4 small shrimp on a skewer. 4 stars for the food alone but I have to take away a star for charging more than the food deserves. read more

My husband and I went to curly's last Friday and agree with the review on 11/2018. The place was cold and not inviting at all. The whole place was black ceilings, walls and floors even the help wore black from head to toe and not one Christmas Decoration in the dinning room at all but the bar had a wreath on the wall and the high tables had candles . When we asked about why no decorations we were told that they (who is "they") probably do not want to offend anyone. Than why have decorations in the bar area and a small tree when you walk in. All that remodeling and you still have to enter in through the bar. When we passed the banquet room we could not believe how beautiful it looked.The reuben was ok and my husband did enjoy his black bean soup. But I would not recommend the place unless you like eating in a dungeon. Please put white table cloths on at least.!! Marion & Bob read more

What a hidden gem. Lived in the area for 30 years and never heard of this restaurant until looking for a new place to try on Yelp. Forgive me for my preconceived notions, but I was expecting a dive due to the area of town this is in. This is a far cry from a dive. They have a very nice bar and a dining room decorated with historical pictures of the city. I wouldn't necessarily call it a fancy restaurant yet is seems to have the perfect amount of class. The Caribbean food was fantastic and they had a Caribbean steel drum musician playing in the dining room. This place really gives off the vibe of a destination restaurant that you would bring out of towners to. read more

Recently stopped in with my wife on friday and we haven't been there since the new ownership took over, but after seeing the review in the news we figured it was time to go back! We came into some new faces at the bar but right away we met Kristen and she was great! She introduced us to Sammie and what a team! We ordered some 1/2 off apps and had some great conversations with them while waiting for our food. Even though the bar was busy they made us feel right at home! Just like back it was back in the days of Kirk and Krista! Great beer selection and for 3$ who could beat that! We ordered the flat pizza and wings and they couldn't of been any better!
