I have been here for dinner a couple times now, and never disappointed! They've always had a steak on their specials menu that I've ordered every time, and always cooked to perfection. And we've ordered the devilled eggs appetizer every time, which is always so good. The last time we were here, we had a new server who I think was still training. Getting our food ordered took a little while, but once ordered we were happy! Good vibes inside, although it tends to be a little loud when there's live music inside. Will be back! read more

They had a nice patio to enjoy on a summer day. The server was very knowledgeable on drinks and menu items. They had many choices for apps that appealed to all of us with different wants. The house dip was full of flavours and went well with the toasted pita. We tried the crispy deviled eggs, and it was an interesting texture and taste. Not sure it was for our tastes. The lamb lollipops were tender and full of flavour they melted in your mouth. It didn't take long for our meals to come out after the appetizers. They were large and presentation was great. I work in the area a lot and am always impressed by the food in Hamburg, this spot was no different. I came in pretty late, close to 9pm, so was excited that they were still serving food because I ended up at work later than expected and did not want to eat fast food. They welcomed me with open arms! It's a cool little space with a very modern, chic atmosphere, but the workers make it feel very casual. I ended up getting the ravioli and was so happy to see ALL the asparagus on top. It was freaking SO delicious. Fresh shaved parm. Omg. Definitely hit the spot. They also talked me into taking a slice of the Chef's moms peanut butter pie home with me, and I'm so glad I did. I actually ate it for breakfast the next day (haha!) and it was SO GOOD. 174 Buffalo is a true hidden gem in the village of Hamburg. Came here with my mom on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm so glad I did! We had reservations for a Friday dinner, which definitely came in handy because the place was packed. We started with the crispy Brussels sprouts and I loved them! Which is saying something because Brussels sprouts typically aren't my favorite. I opted for one of their specials for dinner, a blackened salmon Caesar salad. It was a huge portion and it all tasted fresh and delicious. My mom got the short rib on weck, and as a huge beef on weck lover, she was in heaven. On top of the delicious food, the service was fabulous as well. I'm not in Hamburg often, but I'm absolutely going to come back here in the future. You just can't beat it! read more

Parking is the worst I've ever seen for a restaurant like this. Not marked cramped and only one way in and out. Great place within walking distance for us. We had a party of four celebrating a family birthday and we sat on the patio. Loved the vibe on the patio! Server was very attentive and answered all of our questions. We started with the burrata special as an app. It was served fried with toast points, mesclun, sun dried tomatoes and balsamic glaze. Delicious. I could have ordered this for my meal. I ended up getting the salmon as my main course. It was good, but nothing stood out. Two of my companions ordered the steak special, their review was good, but the steaks were cooked a little more than their requested medium. I liked the fried onions on the steak...different! Ate here for the first time based on a recommendation from a friend. We had a reservation and they sat the two of us at a cozy table a little above and separated from the other tables. That was nice, but the single pane window and what I'm guessing is poorly insulated wall we sat right next to made us both quite cold. We started with the crispy deviled eggs, which were amazing, and French onion soup, which was a little sweeter than the expected but still good. For the main course we had the Barbacoa tacos, delicious, and fish tacos, not great but not bad either. Overall it was a nice experience. I would rate at 3.5 stars if I could, but decided four was more appropriate than three. read more

Small place but the menu looked good. They were only offering a late night menu since a band was playing but we opted for the nachos and they were good. They definitely do but have a good space for a band though so they should really limit it to acoustic or solo artists. The service was pretty slow here and at one point our server disappeared and another server took over for us. If you're looking for a place for a drink and a snack, and you live nearby this place would be a nice choice. It's definitely not worth a drive from any outlying areas. The brightest spot of my visit was the service. The staff was great. They were personable and approachable and efficient. The food was lackluster, and the wine list subpar to extremely sad. The best dish ordered was the Brussels sprouts. It had too much bacon for my taste but they were charred and crispy and had a delicious sauce. The pork belly burnt ends were just burnt bacon, the shaved Brussels sprouts salad had potential but it was killed with too much blue cheese and bacon. And it was kind of dry. The beef Wellington was overcooked, the fish of the day was overcooked, the hamburger was overcooked. The deviled eggs were tough and chewy, crispy but dry and had too much bacon. The homemade potato chips were planks of potatoes - much too thick. The Caesar salad was too lemony and there was not even a hint of anchovy. The Cuban sandwich? Not so much The cocktail list was long but I didn't try a cocktail. This place might be best promoted as a cocktail bar and not a dinner destination. read more

We immediately got a very laid back and cozy vibe from this place. My boyfriend said it reminded him of the Florida Keys. The food was amazing - a lot of Asian influence. Our drinks were also pretty tasty. I got the Neo Cafe and it was refreshing and just what I was hoping for. We got a lot of different food to try since this is our first time at a new restaurant. My wife and I came to 174 Buffalo for craft cocktails and dinner with another couple. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. We started with drinks (Bee's Knees and Cucumber Chill). Both were refreshing on a warm summer evening (and not too sweet - well made by a real bartender). We split a few apps to start, but the Crispy Deviled Eggs were the STAR. I'm still thinking about those little nuggets of deliciousness two days later. Dinner was Bahn Mi Sandwich for me and Fish Tacos for my wife - both great. We had dinner upstairs - our first time on the second level. It was cozy and nicely lit but beware those stairs. If you have limited mobility you might want to request reservations on the first floor. Our food was outstanding. Brussel sprout appetizer and veggie burger with side salad for my non meat eater. I had the chicken Milanese which was so so good. Menu had plenty of delicious choices so everyone should be happy. Cocktails were another bright spot. Service was A+. It got a little loud when all the upstairs tables filled up but that was due to a few people being "hale and hearty" and wanting to show how many people they knew that night. Please just sit down and be politely quiet for those of us trying to converse. But that's not the restaurant's fault. Just poor behavior. Anyways, we totally enjoyed our dinner and will be back soon for sure to try some of the other menu items and specials. So glad to have this restaurant in Hamburg! read more

Well, We've tried to like this place. Unfortunately the owner can't seem to manage it well. We decided to celebrate our 39th anniversary by having dinner here. After being seated and receiving a bottle of warm water and 2 empty glasses (in a somewhat obscure table for two that was the only table at a higher level than the rest of the place) we sat without service for about 20 minutes. My husband decided to go to the bar to get us drinks, explaining to the bartender that no one had come to see us. While he was at the bar the server (who was working like a dog trying to wait on all indoor tables by herself) finally came to our table. I told her my husband was at the bar getting drinks. She said she'd return to tell us the specials. That happened about 20 minutes later. We promptly ordered (a simple) appetizer and our entrees at that point. The appetizer, 5 slices of fresh tuna, arrived about 20 minutes later, brought to us by another employee. At no time did anyone ask if we wanted any other beverages, which, at this point, were almost gone. So when we finally received our appetizer my husband expressed our disdain on our 39th anniversary over the long wait and unattentiveness to this employee. A few minutes later the employee brought my husband a second bottle of beer, saying it was sent on the house by the owner. But he brought nothing for me. I should pause at this point and say that the owner, who was in the restaurant all this time, was either standing behind the bar drying glasses, or periodically chatting with a table of friends just a few feet away from us. He never acknowledged or spoke to any other patrons in the restaurant, including us, even after his employee told him we were unhappy. It took another 30 minutes for us to receive our entrees, again brought to us by this employee. Eventually our server finally made her way back to our table to see if everything was okay. It was not. My husband's meal was received luke warm at best. My drink and water were empty. He once again expressed the problems we incurred during the evening. The server apologized, saying they did not anticipate the volume of business that they had that night, therefore didn't schedule enough people. This, of course, is ridiculous, as they are typically busy on Saturday nights, especially during the warmer months. So there's yet a third person that conveyed our issues to the owner, who continued to ignore us completely. Eventually the server returned with our final bill which had the drinks and appetizer removed from it, and apologized for the disappointments we encountered. While admirable, we really didn't think she should have had to do that. I hold the ignorant owner completely responsible for bad management and poor staffing decisions. He allowed this poor server to run ragged the entire evening without pitching in and helping in some way, even though customers were unhappy. And how sad that he didn't think he should come to our table himself to do the apologizing and make amends. We're big on supporting small local businesses, but we're scratching this restaurant off our list. And we're telling everyone we know not to go there. read more

Although it started out as well; as our hostess/server moved 4 of us to a table where air conditioning was not blowing down on us; I was very disappointed in the fish tacos. I asked for lightly blackned- I was served COLD tacos with no seasoning at all; the amount of haddock was very sparse. I realize food costs are high ; but if you are charging more- don't reduce the amount given- but perhaps this is their normal. When server made her way back; I brought it to her attention and she basically just wasnt interested; looked away and mumbled something re how i requested it. I corrected her she was not accommodating. Other people at our table said their food was good-but nothing special. Will NOT go back.
