Girl dinner. They don't take reservations so we all met at the bar. It was Happy Hour , I think the bartender's name was Nick. Couldn't decide between the Sam Adams Summer Ale and Founders All Day Chandy. Got a sample of both and settled for the Chandy, it was the popular choice for a few others. Got the large round table in the restaurant and Bella was our server. I ordered the tavern chips that everyone tried, their seasoned house made chips with chipotle aioli and everyone enjoyed them. The order was large so I ended up taking half of them home. It was Wednesday so it was 75 cent chicken wing night. Minimum of 10 wings and $1.50 charge for blue cheese. Most of us had the wings, they were crispy with medium sauce , they were good wings. Next time we will have to come on a Thursday night, that's Turkey dinner. The place is large with a huge patio. We decided to share a lunch and choose the easy shareable quesadilla. It was excellent. Generously filled with peppers and chicken or beef (at $3 extra). The quesadilla was served in 5 wedges and came with a little lettuce and some pico de gallo and a small container with sour cream with siracha. The pico was excellent, the sour cream could have had a little heat. PS we were with a group of 12 and the service charge is already on the check. read more

We opted for the quesadilla to share. It is filled with cherry peppers, cheese and either chicken or beef(beef is $3.00 more). It was delicious. What is different here is that the quesadilla comes with a protein. Many restaurants list a quesadilla as cheese and chicken or beef are listed as extras. What was surprising was that the quesadilla was served cut in 5 wedges. I would have thought 4 wedges. It was made from a large tortilla, and maybe an odd number of pieces is more esthetically appealing on the plate? The pico de gallo was also excellent. We ate every bit of it. The sour cream had just a little bit of siracha mixed in to give it a pink color. Nice flavor, not hot. A very nice lunch. The quesadilla was definitely large enough to share. Our first time visiting and we came on a Saturday evening. It wasn't very busy at all and we were seated right away. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The restaurant is spacious and has many TVs and outdoor seating as well. Our drink orders came quickly. My son had the St. Louis ribs, which actually is an appetizer, but the ribs were a good size and plenty enough for him. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger and mac and cheese, which she enjoyed. I had the chicken risotto, which was very good and a large portion. My husband enjoyed his Cajun chicken. Had lunch at 1812 Tavern with coworkers... this is the former Armour in... it was a nice day so we enjoyed the big outdoor patio. Service was good. Lindsay took care of all of our needs.l and was very friendly.The lunch menu was somewhat limited, but I was glad to hear that they had a fish fry on Fridays. We started with the homemade chips with dill sauce. This was a good starter to share. Homemade chips were quite good. I had the beer battered fish fry which came with fries, tuna Mac salad and coleslaw. The fish was very good. A nice sized piece with plenty of flavor. The fries were good, but the other two sides were rather bland. The Mac salad could use more salt and the coleslaw didn't seem to have much of a dressing on it. Had a great time before the Sabres watch party last night at 1812! We didn't have reservations and had 6 people and they were able to seat us right away. Our server was Olivia and she was great! Very attentive, nice and she gave us some great recommendations for dinner. We had to be out pretty quickly to make it to the game in time and everything was so fast and delicious. Everyone loved their dinner, the standout was the quesadillas. They had a ton of gluten free options so we will be back with our gluten free family members. The bathroom was very clean. Will definitely be back and hope to sit outside on their big patio! My only regret was I didn't take any pictures. read more

The fish fry was delicious. They offer several varieties of fish, I went with the beer battered. It was battered and fried perfectly. Well seasoned. The sides were not good. Came with a pasta salad and cole slaw. But they were unseasoned and for me uneditable. The slaw appeared to just be slaw mix from the bag thrown on the plate. The pasta salad was so bland. But the fish was the star and it did shine. We started with their home made chips with a dill dipping sauce and that was excellent as well. Super clean, bright, fun atmosphere. 8 TV's and a huge bar. Food was amazing! Texas Brisket sandwich was fantastic as was the NY Steak sandwich. 1812 Tavern is a wonderful place! When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 25 minutes, but it ended up being closer to an hour. Normally, I don't mind waiting, but when it goes that far over the estimate, I felt it was worth mentioning. Once the younger host stepped away, I spoke to the man who looked like the owner or manager. I explained the situation, and he immediately made it right. He offered us drinks to make up for the wait -- I ordered my favorite, an Old Fashioned, and my wife got one as well. Not only were the drinks on the house, but we were also seated right away. The service after that was fantastic. Our food came out quickly, and everything was delicious. The breading on the chicken was excellent, and I especially loved the South Towns Chicken -- a Nashville-style dish with a nice kick and spicy coleslaw. Highly recommended! Despite the rocky start, the staff more than made up for it. The manager or owner handled everything with professionalism and kindness, and that level of service really stood out. I highly recommend 1812 Tavern -- it's a wonderful place with great food and even better people. Came in 8:30pm on Saturday night to a full restaurant, but hostess got us seated right away. Sabres game (they won in a shootout) & NCAA basketball on TV's and people enjoying the evening. Our server, Lauren, was friendly and very attentive. Ahi Crunch & Hot Bavarian Pretzel for apps, Southtown Chicken Sandwich with FF & Cajun Chicken entree for meals. What a great place, we met up with friends for a few drinks and decided to stay for dinner. It was on a Saturday so I went with their special, short ribs on a bed of risotto, my wife had the Greek salad. We weren't disappointed, the ribs were tender and delicious, the salad was hearty and fresh. The staff at 1812 is definitely top notch, we know we'll be back again. They did a nice job remodeling. Service was very slow. Drink order took 15 minutes and when delivered forgot one specialty drink and coffee. Took another 20 minutes for coffee. French onion soup could not be eaten. Way over salted and the waitress said everyone is sending it back. Waited and hour and 10 minutes to get our food. The roast beef was done perfectly and tender. Only problem zero flavor. All I could taste was the roll. Everyone else's food was good. Prices are higher than most every other place nearby. Hopefully they get it straightened out. We will try again but not for a while. read more

The remodel is nice, it seems more roomy and open than the prior establishment at this location. Nice long bar. It was crowded on a weekday, the weather was nice which I'm sure brought people to the patio. There was a wait so we sat at the bar. Pleasantly surprised that the beer prices were reasonable so I can see stopping for a few after-work drinks on occasion. In fact, I thought that the prices for the food in general was all very reasonable. No complaints about excessive overpricing. After about a 35 minute wait, our table was ready. The only issue we had was that our food took way, way too long. It was close to one hour after ordering and there is no bread or chips or anything to hold you over. However, the waitress took note of this, and without us asking or complaining went ahead and engaged the manager. The manager apologized and acknowledged the problem. If they had not stepped up, this would be a much more negative review. Sometimes that's all it takes. Just own up to the issue and don't pretend that the customer is the problem or ignore it altogether. The waitress and manager made it right. So, once the food arrived we were very pleased. I had the Southtown Chicken Sandwich, very flavorful. The chicken breast was juicy and tender and the batter nicely crispy, and a great kick of heat. My wife enjoyed her shrimp tacos as well. So two thumbs up on the food. It seems that previous owners at this location always had a tough time keeping it afloat. (Unless you count Hoak's Armor Inn, which was open for many years.) Visited on 2nd day open. Parking lot was packed so we expected a wait. Host told us 60 mins plus so we got a drink from the bar while we decided where else to go. Surprisingly at about 35 minutes we were seated. Lots of staff buzzing about and everyone seemed friendly. Drink prices were fair and craft cocktails were good maybe not great. We ordered hot wings as an app and got them xx crispy- as every wing should always be, and damn were we surprised. They did them perfectly! Keep that up and we will have a new wing contender in town! I ordered the turkey club which had thick slices of fresh cut turkey on some thick and well toasted bread. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. It was delicious! Also at the table we had an order for the pastrami on rye. The Thick and crisp toasted bread offset the tender and salty pastrami with just a bit of extra fat to keep it all gooey. I ate the leftovers from that next day and i'd still recommend it. Off my grill. A day old. Fries were the crispy shoestring type. Cooked well and a generous portion, they aren't my speed but the rest of table enjoyed them. Other dishes, jambalaya was spicy and filled with large chunks of sausage. Spicy Shrimp tacos were reportedly delicious but melted my father-in laws face off. The jalapeños on there had some zip! They also took care of the noise problem that building formerly had. Sound was fine. Medium loud as a busy restaurant should be. I look forward to going back and i will bring friends. Get those wings ready. read more

We went on the first Thursday they were open and it really looks great with the remodel. All the staff was new, which is great because the previous staff seemed to lack drive for the industry. The food was good everything was hot when it came out and the teamwork in serving our table was great. Burger was fine. *I didn't deduct from the score for this, but was not happy to find a 3% surcharge on my check for using a credit card. There was nothing posted at the entrance about this. I've heard both good and bad opinions about 1812 since they opened a few weeks ago so I wasn't sure what to expect. Tonight we decided to give it a try. The staff was friendly and efficient, but the place was loud, which worsened as more people crammed into the place. They don't really delineate between the bar and dining area so even at our table we were crowded by people who were waiting for a seat. The food was just okay. The missus ordered the shrimp tacos which were listed with a spicy aioli, but they were really hot. We like a reasonable amount of heat, but these were crazy hot. She ended up deconstructing them to eat the innards without the aioli. We had a burrata salad, which was okay, and a side salad... also ok. I ordered the stuffed peppers which were supposed to have mozzarella cheese on them but had cheddar instead. Regardless of the type of cheese, they just didn't taste very good. The filling was runny and flavorless. We also had the chicken "fingers" but they were misshapen globs of chicken that were mostly breading. The accompanying fries were cold and tasted like they were sitting on the counter for a long time. The place was really busy, but it's a restaurant first and foremost, so given the quality of the food, I suspect that the newness will wear off and it will end up being another closed business at that location. read more

We will try again once the kinks have been worked out. Went on a Monday for their seafood night menu. Let's just say things didn't go right when the steamer wasn't working (so only raw clams and raw oysters) and the lobster dainties were not being served because "they're actually just tiny shrimp and no one is happy with them" per our server. Listen we understand the trials of opening a new place. So I would give it a bit before you go expecting good food. On the plus side our French onion soup was good and cheesy and the shrimp tacos were ok. Menu said "blackened shrimp" and they weren't but the overall taste of the taco was ok. Maybe just give it a try for a beer and some nachos and don't plan to have a full meal there quite yet. We really really want this place to succeed but they also have to get their food act together. read more

This is a new business. Great atmosphere. They may have a few growing pains but the food is very good. We have been there several times. Place has been packed. The waitresses are all very nice, they really hustle. Bar is great! Only thing we could complain about was the fish fry. Fish was very good but a little soggy, as were the fries...not crisp like it should be. They also served a jalapeño cole slaw and if you don't like " hot" be careful ! It was really hot. The stuffed peppers are awesome. The roast beef sandwich and the brisket sandwiches are really good. French onion soup awesome. Probabaly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Planned to come to 1812 Tavern with friends on a Sunday afternoon for dinner and drinks. It was a beautiful May afternoon with temps in the low 70s. When I got there at 2:45 I told the host we had a party of 6 coming and would like to sit outdoors. I was told the patio was reserved for a private party and we could be seated indoors. We agreed to that and were seated inside where it felt like it was 90 degrees. The rest of our party arrived and were very disappointed that the patio was closed. Especially since there were about 8 people at the outdoor private party. An entire patio closed for this. We ordered our food and everyone was very dissatisfied with what they received. The burgers and chicken fingers were extremely overcooked and the beef on weck was dry and there was no au jus or horseradish. We sent some of the food back and what we got back was just as bad. I felt bad for our server who was very apologetic. I doubt we will be returning any time soon read more

PleIase if your going to put Gluten Free options on your menu you need to comply with the GF standards. When people have celiac disease it is very important to not cross contaminate, most importantly start by reading ingredient labels. Won ton Are NOT gluten free 1st ingredient is wheat! My husband got very ill after eating a "gluten free" pizza menu stating available GF. If you're going to run the kitchen you need to know GF prep, use different utensils, don't spread sauce on a regular pizza and use the same spoon to spread sauce on a gluten free crust, Also should know wheat, rye, and barley are the main culprits that are to be avoided completely. You're making people sick! Educate your staff. read more

I tried calling in an order 3 times today. Twice nobody picked up, once someone picked up, said nothing and hung up. With such rude customer service I expect them to close soon just like the last 2 restaurants in this location. read more

Just left having an amazing dinner here at 1812. Our server Paige was very friendly and perfectly attentive. Cocktails came out great and efficiently. Nice menu and very fairly priced. The food... perfect. Stuffed peppers, salmon, shrimp tacos, and even the kids burger was great. The remodel of the place is definitely worth going to see. Everything was clean. Everyone was friendly. Will not return, first off menu online different from what is actually available. When spending a hundred dollars on dinner, I should be blown away. My wife's Salmon was "okay" her words. She ordered a house salad with her dinner, once cherry tomato cut in half and two pieces of red onion over the inner stems of romaine lettuce is not a salad. The salad came out after the entree's. My steak was unimpressive had better steaks in a steak sub from a pizza place. The restaurant was very noisy and we could not hear each other talk. Finally, my water glass was cracked and leaked all over the table. The server was okay, nothing special. Over all not good. Will not be back!! read more
