I grew up walking to John and Mary's and would hang out here with friends as a teen. I have recently moved back to OP and my daughter wanted to give J&M a try. I said sure. Thinking back on my youth I thought it would still be good. I was WRONG! The pizza was under cooked, the wings were barely cooked and not sauced. For $56 dollars it was NOT worth it. I've reached out but no one has called me back. Sad that this is what this restaurant has become.

Less than ideal first impression as we walked into J&M's. Multiple piles of swept up garbage left right in the middle of the ordering/drink/inside seating areas while the drink area was sticky and splattered. If this place weren't very close to the hotel and if we weren't starving, guaranteed we would have hightailed it out the door right there. But with that said, we ordered up then took a nice seat outside on their deck to await our fate. Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo - Cheeseburger - Caribbean Turkey Burger The pasta dish was respectable. It's as good as it's getting with sauce from a jar and pasta from a box. The cheeseburger was the cheeseburger. Assuming it's not served raw it's near impossible to shank that one. The turkey burger was far more interesting. I'm not sure about the roll being all that fresh but the burger itself was good enough and there was a whole lot of spinach & salsa on top which was perfect. It was a slow Thursday with maybe four other tables occupied so everything was rendered and served up in a timely manner. So another word about the initial filth factor that I mentioned prior. As we're finishing up I decide to go inside for a drink refill and to put our tray inside plus dispose of our garbage since the outside container is full. On a positive note the garbage that was on the floor prior had now been swept up. But the flip side to that would be garbage boy now decided to mop the floor which would be a great idea if the restaurant were closed but doing that made the floor so damn slippery that it felt like Ice Capades anytime you tried to walk around inside. J&M's is certainly not a bad place as it falls into that nebulous world of places that every town has that have been around forever and locals I assume "get it" but outsiders kind of scratch their head thinking that it was alright but it's nothing worth going out of your way for. Maybe if we had ordered the supposedly infamous pizza we would have thought more highly of the food. I mean not to say that the food was bad but let's be honest, five stars for this place? LOL! Is it April 1st?

    Small finger. Tiny pieces!

We usually have a pretty good experience here. It's walking distance, so maybe I'm biased. The taco in a bag is one of the best deals on the enormous menu! My go to sub is the chicken souvlaki hoagie. The steak asiago wrap is also amazing. My boyfriend likes the ham and chicken finger subs best. We were really disappointed the last time we ordered a small finger order to go. It's all of the little pieces that don't cut the mustard to go on the subs! It's always pretty quick service. The inside needs a makeover, but seems pretty clean and smells like bleach often.

We ordered from Papa's back in October on a random weekday I believe. Hubby read reviews that…read morehighly recommended the double cheese double pepperoni so that's what we went with. We went with the regular sauce (they also have a sweet sauce but we both dislike sweet sauce). It was great! The pizza was well done with nicely cup and char pepperoni, and the cheese were good quality (Sorrento now rebranded as Galbani) unlike some pizza places that use subpar mozzarella cheese. There was definitely double cheese and double pepperoni, but we both agreed that it was just too much cheese and next time we would just get regular cheese but still with double pepperoni. Well, there was a Sunday Bills game a few weeks later so we decided to call ahead to place an order with the double pepperoni. We called on Saturday morning and paid over the phone and everything. Planned pickup around halftime so hubby could go pick it up. We got home and were severely disappointed. It looked like double cheese with regular pepperoni, and the pizza looked undercooked where there was absolutely no char on the cheese or the pepperoni. At that price point, we decided to call and complain (which is something we pretty much never do). They offered to make us a new one and we offered to bring back the bad one, but they said to keep it or toss it. Hangry Hubby left during the second half to go pick up the second pizza which he opened to see while there and it looked the same as the first one! It was busy and by that point he was mentally done. He came home, we unhappily ate some of the underbaked pizza that was ridiculously cheesy with not enough pepperoni, and hubby swore to never order from there again. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures from both times for visuals cause that's how I usually am with pizzas - I see it, I forget about everything else and I eat it, immediately. LOL One thing to note - hubby did say that the first time he went there, there was a guy who looked like he might have been the owner (or at least someone in charge) that made the delicious pizza. And on the day of the Bills game he didn't see that guy. So, perhaps that's the difference maker. However, at $35-40 a pizza, we are NOT willing to deal with the inconsistent quality. This was extremely disappointing because hubby has not found a pizza place he likes in Hamburg since we moved here 7 years ago (our absolute favorite is the original Santora's in Depew, or Imperial or La Nova). So, back to not having any decent pizza places we can order from in Hamburg again... blargh!

Pizza was good. They were nice and had no issues. Will order again. But I need 86 characters so…read moreI'll say again it was good
