This is a late review from November. I have heard such great things from my colleagues so we had to go check it out ourselves. Humbert House did not disappoint. It's set in Clarence in a beautiful house. It was really a quaint restaurant. The cocktails were delicious but warning not cheap unless you sit at the bar. I forgot to take a picture of the Caesar salad which was the best I've ever had. The pasta was delicious and fresh and dessert was decadent. Service was great. We will definitely be back. read more

We had a lovely dinner at the humbert house. We were greeted by a friendly host who was very attentive to our drinks and frequently refilled waters. We also had great service from Kelsee, our waitress. Overall it was a fantastic meal -sage and Brie stuffed pork chop -in a quiet but comfortable setting. Hate to leave a bad review on a local but very upset with the quality and portion size of my fairly decent priced entrees. Ordered the gumbo and burger to go, my gumbo is less than half a quart, the lobster is brown in many spots and over cooked, the shrimp has the tails on and pieces are in the gumbo. The burger was small and dry, came with chips opposed to fries (as advertised). Sorry but won't bother with this place again. read more

Humbert House is a beautiful restaurant, and even though is on the smaller side. They found a comfortable way to add a lovely bar, and depending on the day. You can enjoy live music from local talents. Frank was our server and he did a wonderful job. He was very attentive, and he was just genuinely friendly. As good as my experience was. I would say the food was just ok. Don't get me wrong it wasn't terrible, I just feel a few tweaks would make it so much better. Caesar salad- Typical Caesar salad. I like the fact they had the perfect amount of dressing Tempura tiger shrimp- Nice size shrimps and the sauce on the side was really good. Had a slight kick to it Wild mushroom gnocchi- The flavor of the sauce was really good. My only complaint is, it was way too much sauce and not enough mushrooms. My initial thought was I didn't order clam chowder. Thats how much sauce there was Wagyu sirloin- This was my biggest disappointment. For me, this steak was way too salty. We really enjoyed the food. We ordered the surf n turf. The price was reasonable for the amount of food perfect portion size. The only issue was that the gravy on the mashed potatoes was Extremely Salty. Which in a way ruined the dinner not enough not to eat but to suffer through the salt. Had to have a pitcher of water to get me to the end of my dinner. I would definitely be back making sure to get the gravy on the side. Or make sure to advise of salt restrictions just to have normal amounts. read more

While the staff was hustling, what came out of the kitchen was horribly disappointing for the price. The cocktails were so over priced at $18-$21 a piece and the wine list was also overpriced. We ordered the pork chop special and the miso soy halibut, both were disappointing. For the $37 price tag on the pork chop, we were expecting a thick cut pork chop, what we received was a thin almost cutlet size piece. The fish was a small serving for the $40 cost and the "fried rice" was like rice covered in teriyaki sauce. Overall we left disappointed and hungry after spending over $150 read more

My espresso martini was the best I've had yet, my chicken Milanese was tender (I didn't need a knife lol), the wagyu burger and truffle fries were flavorful and our strawberry shortcake was the perfect ending to our meal. Nice place for happy hour or a dinner date. On a Friday, the bar was full but the dinner crowd didn't start showing up until after 7. There's a lot of seating and making a reservation (on their website / Resy) was easy. The front room offered pretty views of the changing Fall leaves. Atmosphere inside was neat too, I enjoyed the variety of lighting. Service was excellent, drink menu had a great selection (we got a Riesling from Alsace). Food menu is compact but has a good variety. We ordered the mushroom galette to share as an appetizer, which was mostly pretty good. The puff pastry was charred in spots though. I had the banana pepper ravioli as an entree. There were about 5 or 6 ravioli drowned in a delicious cream sauce. For dessert we shared the pumpkin spice whoopie pie which was fluffy and delicious. Came for my birthday first time. Very cute little place. I will say this parking is eh. Unless I'm not aware the only place is on the street and it's slim pickings so be prepared. But the food was very good. Ordered the duck special and it was cooked perfectly. Prices are reasonable I would say it's somewhat finer dining than your average American restaurant food. Have to get dessert and the bread pudding is a must. Our server was very friendly and kept up with our meals. I'd go back to try the pasta dishes. read more

Overall, it was a good experience. The food was great, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.. That said, I was a bit puzzled by the pricing on the special of the night. It featured a burger and a beer, with the option to choose from a selection of bottled beers. However, opting for a draft beer instead came with a $3 upcharge. Considering the difference in menu price between bottled and draft beer is only $1.05, the surcharge doesn't quite add up -- and left a bit of a sour note. Still, I'd definitely return and recommend this spot, but they should review their up charges as they seem to be a bit of a price gouge. read more

We had a large party (8 people). I can excuse a longer wait for service but the service we received was inexcusable. We waited 40 minutes for first round of drinks. Have been looking forward to trying this place. It's cute inside, small but inviting bar. Some old rocker was playing guitar and shrieking, which was very annoying dinner music. Odd choice. Service was friendly and attentive. Wine list was shockingly expensive, with only one choice in each varietal by the glass. And it was horrid. So, of course you end up buying a $75 bottle. That's unacceptable. Food was very disappointing. Since we got nicked on the wine, we ordered only entrees. Lobster Risotto was a tiny tail with soupy risotto. Seafood Pasta was salty and FISHY. It had broth in the bowl, but you had to purchase bread if you wished to soak it up. Really? You can't tuck a slice into the bowl? What would that cost? 12 cents? When you go over to someone's House, whether its a relative's, your Best Friend or even visiting your Boyfriend/Girlfriend to meet their Parents. The moment you walk in through that Door, especially when your invited over for Dinner. You'll enjoy a family friendly hospitality like it was your own Home, like the old saying goes: My House is your House. Located in the midst of Clarence off the intersection of Main Street & Ransom Road, was once the home of the town's 1st ever Pharmacist from back in the 1800's, Arthur Humbert. The Pharmacy he once owned and operated was right next door to his House, now all these year's later (starting back on November 1st) has been transformed into a unique dining Destination. Serving up New American Cuisine and Specialty Cocktails with Unique Names like The Vaccine, Tainted Prescription & Aromatherapy. When we arrived, we tried parking in the back, but all the spots were (only 8 parking spots available), so my uncle had to park a block and a half away. Upon walking in you feel like you're in somebody's House, that you feel Comfortable. One part of the Living Room was a Dining Area, the Family Room was a Dining Area, plus a spot where the Drinks get prepped, and the Live Music is Rocking. We were sat down in the indoor Patio area out front, 5 Tables within a small seating Area. No better way to start off an elegant evening than with some Drinks, Grandma got a glass of Gussac Guilhem 2020 Rose, while I got one of their unique Cocktails. An interesting concoction called The Humbert Chemistry, a strong and enticing Drink consisting of Three Chords Bourbon, Amaro, Brown Sugar and that wasn't the Kicker. When the drink came out to me, it was like Magic came in under a Dome and when it was lifted the Smoke came and was wafting through the Room, thrilled my sense of smell, it was Alluring. This golden-brown drink with a giant Ice Cube and 2 Dark Black Cherries on a Stick that have absorbed plenty of the Smoke. My 1st Sip and I get the Sweetness of the Sugar, I then feel the Strong Spicy burn of the Whiskey and then at the end I got that hint of Smoke on the Aftertaste. With how strong this Drink I had to slowly enjoy it in small Sips. We split about 4 different Appetizers starting with a Stuffed Banana Pepper Ravioli that were filled with Ricotta Cheese, covered in a rich Gorgonzola Foam topped with Pumpkin Seeds. 5 Pillows of creamy Ricotta Cheese and Peppers that still had a bit of Kick to it which were covered in a Sheet of Foam. Chilled Shrimp Cocktail with the Zest-iest Cocktail Sauce that I've ever tasted. Rick getting a Bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder (I prefer New England). Then moving onto the Heavier Appetizers, Artichoke Risotto with Roasted Tomatoes, Garlic and Lemon, smooth and creamy Rice with the taste of Mild Artichokes and Sweet Tomatoes but be sure to have this just a few bites at a time and it is Heavy. Also me and Grandma both got Plates of Tempura Fried Shrimp that was coated with Yuzu and Toban Djan (Spicy Asian Condiment). Light and Crispy Shrimp that's been coated with that Spicy Sauce that makes you wanna keep munching. For Our Entrees Rick got the Chicken Milanese with a Vibrant Red Sauce and a Garden full of Arugula. I got their Seafood Special, Pan Fried Mahi-Mahi with Sauce Vierge (Virgin Sauce), Lemon Basil and Fingerling Potato Salad. This Crispy Fish that was topped with a chunky Salsa like Sauce of Tomatoes and Cucumbers accented with a Bright Lemon Basil Sauce along with Thick Slices of Potatoes. This dish was good but I wish there was less of that Sauce because it took away from the Fish a bit, I also thought while the Potatoes were good they should've been Roasted. For Dessert this brought be back to my Childhood, who ever would've thought of having Breakfast for Dessert. Sal Latorre is very creative to do Cereal & Milk Ice Cream, I mean Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Golden Grahams and Cocoa Rice Crispies alongside Mushroom Cap shaped pieces of French Toast. Take a Spoonful of Each Ice Cream and slather it on this Warm Toast, with every heartwarming bite that I took I kept thinking to myself: Why weren't my Breakfasts like this when I was a Kid. I must say I was very pleased that they took us into their "Home" and treated us with such Great Hospitality. Sure its a bit of a drive if you live far (West Seneca, Hamburg, Elmwood etc.) but I say its worth the Ride. Trust me when I say this, when you come here you'll feel humbled at the Humbert House. !!! read more

First time-last time...don't waste your money or your time...so disappointed, and angry over the experience. Food... filet over-cooked and tiny, lobster Mac and cheese was watery and bland. Food took forever, portions small, overpriced. Sat in room adjacent to kitchen, and door was left open a few times...saw flies flying around, and saw an opening that led to garage where I saw parked cars right outside the kitchen. Two people walked out of kitchen and were dressed in sloppy, ragged clothing and were unkempt. We're these the chefs????Also table sat next to us had 2 small children, one was throwing toys, the other in a high chair had a soiled diaper and smelled of feces and was adjacent to me, so immediately stopped eating as the smell ruined my appetite. read more

3-stars may seem harsh but hear me out. This restaurant is very charming in a way that most places in WNY don't quite execute the way this place does. Food & drinks are good-not anything to write home about. This place doesn't claim to be anything more than it does which I appreciate! But what really drew us in was the happy hour that is promoted ALL throughout their socials... we had reservations & were seated in their sun room & were given the happy hour menu. Ordered a couple apps of the happy hour & about 10 min later the server (who was super nice btw) informed us that happy hour is only for the bar & patio? No where is this stated (not even the menu or IG) & we came in with a baby so we definitely weren't going to sit at the bar & the patio was right next to the main busy road by traffic so that wasn't really an option either. Just seemed so odd that they heavily promote the happy hour to draw you in & give you a happy hour menu & have you order off it only to be charged full price? We wanted to be positive & enjoy our time out but thinking back it was a little odd & wish they would have been more straight forward. We've been to the Humbert House a couple of times- and it is always an excellent experience. The food is delicious and there is always something new to try on the menu. The atmosphere is cozy and warm- and on Fridays they offer live music. The service has been slow in the past- but recently they have added more staff so it hasn't been an issue. Beautiful interior with a warm, and inviting atmosphere. My wife and I loved the coziness of this restaurant and the contemporary bistro menu. Our service was excellent and everything came out of the kitchen in a timely manner. We wanted to sample lots from the menu, so we ordered a bunch of small plates. Our dishes were as follows: - Local greens salad (5 stars) - the local greens with beets and blue cheese was excellent - Korean chicken (4.5 stars) - the Korean dipping sauce made this dish memorable - Cheese Board (4 stars) - very good - Hamburger (4 stars) - very good, juicy and tasty - Pearfection (pear crème brûlée) (4 stars) - very good, refreshing - Bucatini Carbonara (3.5 stars) - this is a simple dish. Pasta was cooked perfectly. The guanciale was a nice, but maybe a little more salt, garlic and fresh ground pepper would have added the "pop" my tastebuds needed - Asparagus Risotto (3 stars) - good, but like the Bucatini it was just a little underwhelming. We went on a Tuesday and had the steak specials. My bride the filet with grilled shrimp and broccolini. I had the twin filets with broccolini and gargonaola sauce, also had caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozz and greens. The salad was very good, thought the lemon sobert was a strange combination but it was good and did cleanse the pallet. Both are steaks we cooked to order, juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed the gargonzola sauce. The restaurant decor is very nice and is very quiet, allowing for easy conversation. Service was prompt and spot on. We are so excited to have this new addition to Clarence, which just opened last week. The building is an old Clarence landmark that has been carefully remodeled to keep its beautiful history. The lighting is modern and captivating. Although a small spot, it packs a big punch in terms of a diverse menu offering everything from sliders to pork belly to Korean fried chicken. There are several small plates and large plates from which to pick, and I understand they will be changing the menu frequently fo keep things fresh. The staff was so friendly and genuinely excited to be working that it made up for the understaffing problems they were encountering. The cocktails were thoughtful and delicious. I would highly recommend the Apothecary. All and all, I can't wait to go back. Be patient as they work out the opening kinks. read more

Buffalo joint but LA/NYC prices. First off, the service was great! Kelly our server was so kind and helpful. BUT the food is subpar. Cocktails will run you $17 ... didn't think we would be paying NYC prices at a local Buffalo joint. One of us ordered espresso martini and the machine was broken so opted for a coffee martini which was just OK for $17. Onto the food--2 in our party ordered burgers and they only had 1 left on a Friday night at 7 PM--that's a problem. Then someone Ordered a side of broccolini... for $9 you should get more than 3 pieces of broccolini--- thinking another food item they were running out of. Overall they need to do better read more

Went here on a Saturday night with a guest hoping for a pleasant experience. We were seated on the ground level near the kitchen where it was freezing cold. Every time the kitchen door open a blast of cold air came out into the dining area, maybe they had the back door open to keep the kitchen cooler, I don't know but it wasn't a pleasant experience. The menu is very limited with only four or five entrees or large plates, so we opted for 4 small plates to share. Started with the ravioli which came out in a bowl of three raviolis all kind of melted together and cold. ($13) then the mini lobster rolls, three tiny burnt rolls about the length of your index finger with lobster. Each one was literally two bites($27). The tempura shrimp, was spicy and that dish was okay, nothing special, just spicy baby shrimp ($16). The Korean chicken was fatty but probably the best of the four dishes ($16). Cocktails were on par and added pleasure to the meal. The blackberry cheesecake that I had for dessert was the only thing that I would say was a treat for the evening. I understand that prices are increasing due to labor and supply chain shortages but this amount of food is not even close to being worth what they're charging for it. read more

My husband and I are always looking to try new dining options and had recently read about the Humbert House so we took a drive to Clarence. The restaurant certainly has architectural interest! Our online reservation had not been conveyed to the computer system in place. There was not an issue, however and we were seated. The venue is compact! We ordered several small plates and drinks. The stuffed pepper ravioli was quite delicious! This spot is somewhat pricey but if you are looking for something a little different, try the Humbert House. The risotto was a perfect blend of flavor I highly recommend this was my favorite thing on the menu! The wagu strip steak was a very generous portion and paired very well with the butter. Duck was a very delicious dish! If you like mushrooms they were full of flavor and went very well with the duck. They took their try on a deconstructed sweet potato pie. This is not your grandmas pie! This was packed with sweet potato over marshmallow and crushed almonds! Our waitress was highly knowledgeable on the food and knew a great deal of the history of the place. The atmosphere is a small quaint environment with jazz playing. We've been waiting to try this place for almost a year. It's gorgeous inside, live music was great. Decent beer and liquor selection, friendly but inexperienced staff. The food was a tragedy. $200 and I would have had a better meal at Chipotle honestly. Cold poutine with unmelted cheese curds. My "American Waygu" steak was horrible, chopped up, flavorless and bland. Nothing was good but at least the beer was cold. I'm a glutton for punishment so I'll probably try it again someday, but this little pig, the hollow bistro and brew, and the polish italian church place are all much much much better right now. read more

My husband and I came to Buffalo, New York to meet up with close family members for Labor Day weekend. We dined at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. We were seated in a cozy corner & were able to talk without feeling we were interrupting other guests.. The server was pleasant and patient with us as we ordered a variety of things so we could share? Too sweet and too salty and nothing in between. This place was very overpriced for not great food. I had the lobster bisque which tasted like a salt lick, the Korean chicken which tasted like pure sugar sauce, and the pumpkin whoopie pie that was not sweet at all but sour. The saving grace was the pumpkin burrata salad which I have to admit was absolutely delicious, but 1 course out of 4 is not great. I honestly have nothing bad I can say. I'll say this one little non complaint from me, if you are not a blue cheese lover, the wedge is not for you , and either way you'll need water after but the blue cheese is SO good you can't help but want to eat it, even if it is on the heavier side. We went on Tuesday $10 small plates night and although it's not all small plates at a discount, the short list is a good variety. Full price small plates are well worth it, especially if sharing samples with a group as we were. Drinks were also nicely balanced, unique combinations at prices expected from such an establishment. The scallop bisque had two huge, unexpected scallops in it (I assumed they'd be bay scallops), the cheese plate beats most places for amount of product especially for $10! We are looking forward to hitting up Thursday night slider night! And a quick kudos to the staff, everyone from bartender to waitress to chef was so friendly and seemed to be lending a hand wherever they were needed in the restaurant.
