Spinach Artichoke Appetizer
Maureen W.

Had an amazing dinner at Gertie's the other night! This was our first time going, and I was honestly surprised at how big it was inside! They do not have a parking lot, but on-street parking was easy to find so we only had a short walk. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. It was very flavorful and creamy, and they gave us lots of bread to dip with. For our entrees, I had the chef's choice pork chop with mashed potatoes and veg (green beans and zucchini) and my husband had the black and blue NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and veg. Both we AMAZING. The pork was so juicy, and it came with the chef's sauce for the evening which was the perfect addition. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The ambiance was very nice inside and the service was great.

Wow.. why have I not been here before today? Family and friends have spoke about there great experience here. Glad we came in. The whole wheat rolls with the rosemary, roasted garlic oil and balsamic were tasty just needed a little butter. For my main dish the twin filets. It was melt in your mouth, high quality beef! The red wine reduction was great. The vegetables were fresh, crisp and tasted great. The mashed potatoes were the best I have ever had and I would come back just for them. High five to our server Katherine and the kitchen staff. This isn't a great time to own a restaurant during these crazy times. Glad we came out to support local business. This place is doing it right!

This is the 2nd night in a row I dined at Gerties. The food was excellent, service couldn't have been better. Eric was my waiter both nights. Tuesday, Wed & Thurs are $20 bottle of wine nights. Enjoyed a dry rose and also a class on wine from Eric. I was in Buffalo for business & the Atmosphere here is just what I needed after 3 long days of training. Relaxing and welcoming, If I am ever in the area again this is a must stop.

Stuffed pepper

Ordered take out online, I picked up as soon as it was ready 5 min drive home. The peppers were flat maybe 1/2 inch thick and sitting in the same depth of butter, completely mushy and salty. The chicken and mashed potatoes dinner was also very unappealing, two chicken breasts very dark fried with no flavor, seasoning or sauce. If I wanted to put hot sauce on two chicken fingers I would've ordered from Clarence pizza, and the peppers from Dash's. Just wanted a nice dinner I thought I could count on...I wouldn't get take out from here ever again. Usually a nice meal in the restaurant.

Visited on a Tuesday. There were so many specials on food and wine. I got the steak tacos. They were delicious!

Asa Ransom House - Thanksgiving special prime rib dinner

Asa Ransom House

Three friends went for Tea at the historic Asa Ransom House…read more The food was presented on a beautiful three tiered stand as one would expect at a Tea. The bottom layer held delicate, crust-less, savory finger sandwiches, 4 for each of us, all very tasty. On the second level were delicious scones and there were three spreads offered to enhance their flavor - lemony butter, what may have been clotted cream (not sure), and a fruity jam. On the top tier there were sweet cookies and cakes. The room was decorated with old fashioned country curtains, decorative wall paper, and fancy table cloths - a perfect back drop for this experience. The servers were attentive, prompt and friendly. It was what I expected and it didn't disappoint!

For my updated review, I came with 3 friends for afternoon tea. We were excited to try it, as none…read moreof us had ever been for tea and I hadn't been back under the new ownership. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed in our overall experience. Each guest is given a sheet of paper where you can select 3 teas. The server didn't explain this was per person so we were confused thinking it was 3 per table. The biggest disappointment for us is that we were given tea bags, which in my opinion is not appropriate for an experience of afternoon tea and really cheapened the experience. As an avid tea drinker, I personally was expecting at least loose tea. We were given one hot tea pot for the table and had to constantly ask for refills until towards the end when the server gave us a second pot. It was a bit dangerous for us trying to pass one kettle around the table of four people as well. They also don't give you any iced water to drink on the side which was disappointing. In addition, no one came to clean out or change out your tea cup when you were moving on to drink the next tea. So I ended having a taste of earl grey in the chamomile tea. For the 3rd tea, I ended up dumping some of it out on my plate and wiping with my napkin. Eek! We did however, enjoy the food. They present you with a 3 tiered tray with a variety of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries and jam/butter. We all thought the finger sandwiches, scones and desserts were delicious. The sandwich were tasty, but a bit tiny and definitely needed more filling. Overall, I may come back for the food but I was disappointed in the use of tea bags and the inattentive service.
