So good! Went here for a Saturday evening birthday dinner. Parking was available right in their parking lot next to the restaurant. We had a drink at the bar and then we're seated at our table. The waiter was cordial, friendly and informative. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer, the Carrot Papardella, and the Penne w/ grilled steak "au poivre". So good! The bread with the tomato sauce was fresh and the sauce had an amazing flavor. The stuffed mushroom with artichoke stuffing was very rich and flavorful. Lots of stuffing. The Carrot Papardella had large chunks of fresh seafood and great sauce. The penne with steak was very good. The marsala sauce was very rich and filling but flavorful with that sweet marsala wine sauce. Steak was tenderly cooked perfectly. The waiter brought out a great slice of complimentary birthday caramel ganache cake. Great surprise. Our water glasses were never empty, the bread was plentiful and the meal was so tasty, fresh and flavorful. This place has a good amount of seating but reservation recommended for busier times. It's a nice dining room with a bar at the entrance of the restaurant. They have daily specials and rotating dessert specials. Highly recommended and always worth the visit!! read more

There was not one dish I was served that I feel was worth the price. We had focaccia and tuna tartare as appetizers. The Margherita focaccia was by far the worst of the night, soggy and flavorless, the focaccia was nothing like a normal one. The tuna had a nice presentation though it was quite mediocre, the rice was hard in some parts and seemed quite old, the tuna itself was fine but the dish as a whole was maybe on par with sushi you'd get at a wegmans. As my entrée I got the carrot papardella, everything seemed overcooked, hardly any lobster and what little was happened to be tough and rather flavorless, of course it was the same with the shrimp and crab. The pasta was overcooked and stuck to itself and the sauce was quite sweet and far too hot, twenty minutes into the meal and it was still steaming, continuing to turn the dish into mush. The meal was for three people and came out to be $240 after tax and tip, the service was nice but considering the praise this restaurant got I'm sure it's went downhill. Dean was our server, he was friendly. *First Mojito 9/10 Really good, lots of mint, perfect amount of soda, sweetness, and alcohol, but no lime slice garnish *Second mojito 6/10 Had 1/2 leaf of mint and tons of soda. Had a lime though. Egg dipped Artichoke Hearts 8/10 I was surprised to see the plating structure of this. Everything was good. Vinaigrette went well with everything. less salad mix at the bottom would be nice. Twin Filet Mignon Beef Tournedos 8/10 Cooked perfect, both of them. Decent flavor too. The mushroom sauce was good. The horseradish cheese was shredded, which was very strange to have on a steak. I could have done with a creamier cheese, Gorgonzola, or just none at all. Potatoes were good, a chunky mash. Asparagus was cooked good, al dente and seasoned well. Special: 1/2 Rack Australian Lamb 9/10 Cooked perfect, probably one of the top three best in the Buffalo area. Had an amazing dinner experience here for my birthday. We ordered two of the mushrooms for an appetizer and the mushroom soup. I think the stuffed mushroom is probably the best thing I've ever eaten. Seriously. Everyone ordered different entrees. I got the Carrot Papardella. It was a large portion and delicious. Had leftovers for two days! Other items ordered were short ribs, eggplant parm, fish special and the lasagna. Everyone loved their meal. I am happy to see that the menu has been changed a bit. Excellent service and comfortable ambience, but dark and average comfort seating. Easy access and parking. Good portion sizes for all items ordered by our party of 4. Enough to need take-home containers for 2 of us. Marginal food flavors and seasoning for entrees and some appetizers, with bland salmon for two of us, average pasta and red sauce, foccacio bread was a pizza dough texture and flavor, and eggplant roulettes entree mostly breading and weak eggplant flavor. All 4 of us, diners, agreed we expected much more for a $280 total bill, especially given zero alcohol and only ice teas and a single sparkling water. Best items were 2 mushroom bisques and one dessert cheesecake, a shared order, both excellent. Retired couples who eat every day in local restaurants arrived at a final simple conclusion that MANY local meals at half the price or even 1/3rd the price were equal to Left Bank, but with a somewhat less fancy fine dining service concept and pretense. read more

We made a reservation to celebrate a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. The candles, white table cloth, and music set the perfect mood for the occasion. The staff were very friendly as well. The bread... amazing. The fondue for two was even better. It was the perfect blend of cheese with perfectly cooked beef tenderloins portobello fries, and asparagus spears. The only reason why I gave it a 4/5 was because the pasta and seafood linguini was heavily salted. This revered west side staple is a must visit. I've been here several times and it doesn't disappoint. You certainly need a reservation. You could try to do a walk in but that's risky! It's fine dining but you can dress casually. They have parking lots available or just find a spot on the street. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They regularly have specials which includes the ravioli (which changes) and it's 1 giant piece of homemade ravioli. Definitely recommend if it's stuffed with something you'd like. The fondue is a nice app for 2 people to share. Caesar salad perfect. They bring bread for the table with butter and a tomato oil spread. Steak penne and cheese tortellini are very good pasta options. They have several seafood and steak options as well. Their chèvre mashed potatoes are delicious. Their cocktail list has a variety and the bartender made a very good old fashioned (that can be hit or miss sometimes depending where you go!) Had the chocolate mousse for dessert and one of the best glasses of Malbec I've ever had. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. It will always be at the top of my list when we go out to celebrate or just for a nice date night. The ambiance is great. At times it can be a little loud but it's not bad. People are happy and enjoying their food. I almost always get the ravioli and it never disappoints. If on a rare occasion there's something I don't want in the ravioli I know I can find something that I will love on the menu and I always do. I really love this restaurant. The staff is always super kind and friendly. The drinks are amazing and I always enjoy myself. I can't say anything about dessert because I've never made it that far, LOL! This is easily one of my favorite fancy restaurants in the city. Not only is the food always incredible every time I go, but it also isn't too outrageously expensive which I appreciate. The restaurants environment is very romantic and great. The servers are always friendly with good reccomendations. If you like mushrooms you need to get the stuffed portobello. It is one of my all time favorite plates in the city. The main dishes were also amazing. You really can't go wrong with this place! read more

Made reservations 2 weeks in advance, asked for an upper level table for 4. Arrived on time, seated at a table on the lower level. Crowded, noisy, small tables. Service started well, but we kept getting interrupted by the waiter & bus boy reaching across the table moving plates & silverware, before we were finished with our apps. Dinner arrived, very enjoyable meal. Table was cleared, coffee & desert ordered & delivered. Bill was presented while we were conversing with our friends. Bill was paid, $350 with tip. Hostess came to our table & asked us to leave so they could seat more customers. We spent $140 per hour to sit, have a cocktail, have dinner and desert. Never had this happen before. If there's a time limit, tell people when they make reservations, not after they spend $350. Never going back. read more

This was our second time going to The Left Bank, and it was overall a great experience again. For appetizers we started out with the fondue for two, which was pretty good although we agreed we don't think we would get it again personally. The steak pieces included in that were the highlight. Otherwise it wasn't bad, but not really thrilling and felt like a weird mix. For dinner I got the panko breaded chicken after seeing positive reviews on here, and it was delicious! The salad on top had great flavor, the chicken was crispy on the outside but the inside was still juicy. My fiancé got the house ravioli which he said was good, but after trying my dish he wished he had gotten the panko chicken instead. For dessert we got the flourless chocolate cake- my goodness that was even better than we anticipated. This was a great Saturday night date spot as the vibe is romantic in there with the dim lighting and candlelit tables. The only real downside to our experience this time was that we had a reservation at 8:15 and had to wait for 20 minutes to get our table, which is tough when you're already eating late. However, we could understand that they were very busy on a Saturday night. The hostess was apologetic and the service thereafter was quick and efficient. read more

I came the other day for a Galentine's dinner and wasn't disappointed. This place is a Buffalo staple and loved by many. It is a top notch restaurant that uses high quality and fresh ingredients and adds gourmet touches that are higher end but still work for the Buffalo crowd. And the portions are usually generous. I like it here but a lot of the menu options don't work for my diet. So when I come it's for someone else's occasion but it's still very much a treat. I will say that the staff is always accommodating and helpful to ensure I find something to eat. Most recently I was able to enjoy a delicious special that was grilled prawns with mescaline and vinaigrette, supremed oranges and grapefruits and artichoke hearts filled with herbed goat cheese. It was delicious and filling enough I was able to eat it as my main. The flavors were unique and blended well together. I was full but it was still light. The herbed goat cheese stuffed artichokes were delicious and a real treat. I'd hope to have them another time. The citrus fruit touches were a nice contrast to the richness of the cheese. If you want a delicious meal and a nice place for a date or girls night definitely check this place out. read more

To start with the great: delicious crispy calamari, halibut in a perfect green curry lobster sauce, and savory pasta "au poivre" with steak and mushrooms (which honestly was like the perfect combo of French onion soup combined with steak Marsala). The drinks were fine, a bit strong for my taste but overall good. For the less stellar: The service was quite slow. We went on a Tues and there was a big table at one end of the restaurant so maybe they were unexpectedly understaffed, but we waited over 45min to finally get our appetizer and over 1:15 to get our entrees. This was just not my favorite place. I would say the food is pretty much average but I expected more from a restaurant with this ambiance and menu. It is definitely not traditional Italian so if you're expecting classic meals then be prepared for some experimentation with the dishes. The ambiance is a quiet upscale restaurant, the tables have white linens and candles so definitely a little dressier of a place to eat. Parking is rough. The lot was full when I arrived so I had to drive around to try and park. The servers were all nice and friendly. Service was actually quite slow though so be prepared for that. For starters we had the bruschetta and the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare was fine - the fish was fresh and the sauces were decent. I enjoyed it. The bruschetta was good, but just not really what I would expect when ordering bruschetta. It was toast with sausage and tons of melted cheese on top. It was good, but I'm just used to bruschetta being bread with tomato basil a slice of mozzarella and a drizzle of balsamic. This just threw me off. For my entree I ordered the ravioli. I was warned ahead of time it would be one giant ravioli and was curious to see what it would be like. It looked like a burrito. It was one huge roll of a ravioli with a ton of cheese and sausage inside. To be honest, it reminded me of cheap calzone filling - the peppers tastes like they hadn't been really seasoned or cooked, the sausage was just regular slices of brown sausage and there was just way too much cheese. The cheese was so thick it was almost plasticky. I don't mind some cheese but it was basically a ball of cheese wrapped in a pasta roll topped with more cheese. I had a few bites and to be honest the flavor was okay but the amount of cheese was just too much for me. I just don't understand calling this ravioli. I just don't think this is passable as fine dining food - sorry! The desserts were incredible. The key lime and lemon tarts were both fabulous. The bill came out to $220 for 3 people, so quite pricey. I dont think it was worth it for me personally - the meal was just way too heavy and cheesy. I will say the other two people, one who also ordered the ravioli, LOVED it, so if you are less prissy than me you'll probably be fine. Not my favorite though, I will likely go elsewhere in the future. read more

We heard a lot of great reviews from friends but were so pleasantly surprised when it truly lived up to the hype. The ambiance is formal and quiet yet slightly rustic. Had a lovely dinner here on a Friday evening, after many years of hearing how wonderful of a place this is! The Left Bank has a cozy atmosphere that really can't be beat. And the service was very attentive, which was a nice bonus! We started with the calamari -- fresh, crispy, and light! I easily could have eaten the whole plate myself. For my entree, I opted for the ravioli special of the night (which was filled with pork tenderloin, banana peppers, and a cheese blend), and my boyfriend chose the carrot papardella for his. The ravioli was massive, I seriously underestimated the size of this thing. But it was delicious and offered lots of leftovers! My boyfriend loved his pasta as well, I stole a bite and it definitely had a great seafood flavor. I think this is a nice spot for a special dinner -- it's on the pricier side so keep that in mind. The pasta dishes were all amazing and two of our party had the salmon which they loved. The ravioli special never disappoints and we split three desserts (Choc. Ganache tart was the best). For a restaurant that advertises itself as "fine dining"... you may want know the difference between foccacia and flatbread. The foccacia offering aint...it's flatbread. Your local Buffalo audience may not know this but folks like myself originally from the tri-state area know better. The price points here are on point to Saratoga...but you'd better deliver. Nice place but Left Bank insinuates French... not sure where they grabbed that idea since it's mostly Italian. Very very loud as well... . Sat at the bar for a solo dinner and the bartenders were great - quick, attentive service without being overbearing at all. Got the spicy arriabatta pasta, which was hearty and good, but was a bit too salty for my taste. I added the fried calamari and it was so delicious! Crispy, definitely recommend this dish. read more

Went here for a birthday dinner and was pleased to check out their patio. I had never been out on their patio and it was delightful. They had live music that was not distracting from the dinner but made it very pleasant. Service was fantastic, ambience was great. The food was delicious. Definitely would recommend. I have been dying to come here since they opened and have no idea why it took me so long! Me and my husband took an impromptu trip here for dinner because I was catsitting close by. The fondue for two is what sold us on coming here. I would get that every single time I return. It is SO GOOD. The ahi tuna tartare was pretty good as well. We loved both the mushroom soup with truffle oil and the new england clam chowder. The fresh bread with butter pearls and sundried tomato oil was a really nice treat to start. We also really enjoyed the Santa Fe focaccia. The service was good and ambiance was great. I absolutely loved this restaurant. Located in a beautiful area of Buffalo. Reservations were easy and accommodating. Very nice atmosphere and plenty of seating for large groups. Menu had something for all. They have many dishes that all will know but put a special touch on all of them. I really liked how they did that. We started with a stuffed Portabello mushroom in a sweet Porte sauce. A must try for all. I went with seafood and had the linguini with shell fish, scallops, shrimp and some Salmon. Very tasty. Others ordered the calamari with pasta in a spicy sauce as well as Eggplant roulettes. Both were very good. The calamari was some of the best I have ever had. Lightly fried and so tasteful. Service was perfect and the waiter was efficient and friendly . Finally they had a nice wine list and beverage selection that I enjoyed. Come check them out when you get a chance. read more

OK, now for the not so great part: We were seated at a table that was partially where the servers came in and out. Consequently, we got bumped several times. Not good nor relaxing. I ordered a single ravioli. I should have asked for more information, because I thought it would be a large flat ravioli (thin and delicate). It was actually a ravioli that was the size of an extra extra large burrito in a cream sauce that was clearly separating. It was expensive, it was tough not tender, and I ate three bites. Then I stopped. It was clear that it wasn't good and our server, who is running around like her life depended on it barely checked on us. Had she done so I would've sent this back to the kitchen. It was absolutely inedible. Moreover, for a French restaurant, it had very little actual French food. This was a huge disappointment and we will not be back. read more

Would go back simply for the appetizer of fondue for two. I love a dimly lit environment and the fact they give you your own jar of water for refills. Service was great, too. I appreciated the waitress letting us know they didn't do free refills on soda. Entrees didn't disappoint; my partner had the ravioli special and I did the chicken cutlets. It was crowded but the acoustics still allowed me to converse and hear well. the staff were highly professional and kind. the food was unique, well priced and delicious. the included starter bread with the cold butter and tomato based topping was an unexpected treat. It was clean with nice white table clothes. this should be the role model for every restaurant. It felt like the owner wanted to make sure the customer is happy. a rare find. we will be back. We are vegetarian and had a fondue with breaded mushroom and fresh asparagus with focaccia triangles, potato cauliflower soup and tortellini with mushrooms, peppers and spinach. read more

Went for dinner, my first course was mushroom soup which was a daily. Was very good. Felt things went downhill from there. The calamari was tasty but when you went to pick it up or dip batter came right off. Was disappointed by my steak, very heavily covered by a Gorgonzola/bread crumb mixture which was too thick. To make matters worst balsamic glaze. Was all too much, the steak is supposed to be the star, doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles. On positive note the service and ambiance were good but disappointed in the food at price point. read more

We came here this evening for Valentine's Day. We were greeted and seated right away. Our table was in the middle of other tables. Very awkward setting, not a fan at all. Felt like we were in the middle of everyone including the servers. Menu was also a preselected menu which we were surprised to see. I will say all of the selections on the menu sounded amazing. We opted to start with the oysters and calamari. Our entrées were pan seared scallops, and linguine with shrimp. Our entrees took quite a bit of time to come out. Our server Justin was accommodating and pleasant. All of our food choices were delicious. Despite where we sat and the dinner delay, it ended on a great note. We'll definitely be back.
