Our family went to this restaurant 15 yrs ago and had our names on a seating list, we watched as other walk ins after us got seated before us. Once seated, several tables received their food before us. After complaining to the server, the owner came to our table and proceeded to annoy us. Mom is undergoing rehab at Elderwood on Grand Island and needs to get out and have some good food to boost her spirits. Boomerang's fit the bill. Since it is on the #40 bus route, and all buses are wheel chair equipped, mom was able to ride for $1 each way to and from Elderwood. That's a savings of about $75 each way over wheel chair van services, so locating your restaurant on a major bus route is good for business! So is having a nice wheel chair ramp, which Boomerang's has. We arrived at the expected time of our reservation and were promptly provided a table that was wheel chair friendly. Being a Friday, we opted for seafood. We started out with an avocado/onion appetizer that mom slid close to her so she could scarf them all. Well, they're pretty big, so mom only got two of them down. I got the other one (delicious) and we had one extra to enjoy the next day. We shared the shrimp/scallops with baked potato plate. Went there recently for lunch. Besides the regular menu items Boomerangs had a couple of specials. I decided to go that route and have a meat ball sandwich. It comes on a large plate, 8 nice sized meat balls, plenty od tomato sauce and 6 pieces of toasted garlic bread. The meat balls were very good and with the sauce they were terrific. The garlic bread was nice and great to scoop up the extra sauce. It is not a fancy place but the service is great. read more

Thank you for hosting our socially distanced book club! We arranged to have the banquet room in the back for our meeting. They had us preorder from the menu which made our individual checks very easy to pay at the end of the evening. The server was very kind and super flexible with changes/requests we made. The space is a little dark for my tastes but for a casual dining experience I really enjoyed it. There is a huge TV on the wall that can be seen from most of the seats in the banquet room. Which looks like when they aren't hosting events it can be used for regular dining. I enjoyed my cobb salad, nothing great or not great about it. Standard cobb with dressing on the side. The menu is pretty extensive. Bathrooms were small but clean. Parking is the bigger challenge here. The lot doesn't hold many cars so you might end up on street. read more

They hosted about 12 of us with a reservation, we stayed till closing as we got there later than expected. Dark and interesting aroma throughout. Delicious local brews on tap, all of the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Huge fish fry, lightly battered, crispy deliciousness. Fries were super hot, coleslaw was moist and just the right chop. Macaroni salad is not something I'm used to having as a side with a fish fry but it was also moist and flavorful. I sampled the artichoke french which were great. The pasta alfredo with olives, sun-dried tomatoes and broccoli had a lighter smooth sauce. An order of chocolate cake was shared by the table, it is mammoth, as were two ice cream sundaes. If someone said, let's hit a fish fry here, I'd head back. read more

My mother suggested this place because she used to go there years ago with her best friend. She normally doesn't suggest things for my boyfriend and I, but this did turn out to be good but this time, she was completely right! This place was so delicious so friendly and so much fun! I plan on going there many more times to come. We went right around 5 o'clock so it was kind of you know sparce but then around a quarter after 6 it was really busy, and by the way this was a Wednesday. Friendly staff, funny Manager / Owner, great bar area outside patio for you smokers, and great food. I had the linguine with white clam sauce absolutely stunningly delicious! My boyfriend had chicken alfredo with tortellini which he said he was shocked because (he's a chef) it was so deliciously tasty. It came with a choice of soup or salad and they're known for their great soups but the salad was so yummy with the mixed greens and the chi chi beans and all that fun! Came here on a recommendation of a friend. We had salads and one person had shrimp cocktail for an app. Shrimp cocktail comes on a plate with 9 shrimp. That's about $1 a shrimp...nice. Two had chicken park which wasn't pounded down but still good from what they described. I had rattlesnake chicken with chicken added. Every bite had heat; for me that is awesome. Had a hint of chicken wing flavor but still tasty, tangy and the heat settled on your palette given you a little sweat on your brow....i love this. I would add my recommendation to try this little place out if you at near buffalo, N.Y. looks a little seedy but our waiter was personable and helpful and friendly. Enjoy!! read more

So Boomerangs... is a great example of a dive bar/restaurant if you are feeling nostalgic for cheap food and a blast from the past ambiance. We were there on a warm random weekend afternoon. They only had a few other patrons and the bartender was also the server. We ordered some typical bar food and the stuffed onion rings and a salad. I was honestly most surprised by the salad. I had low expectations, but it was gorgeous and a huge portion! I would definitely come back another time to try something off the dinner menu. Stopped in a couple of weeks ago during happy hour for some wings with a few friends. The Bartender was polite, prompt, and very helpful. Me and another guy got there early, ordered an app and waited for everyone else. Their fried pickles were massive and good. When everyone else finally showed we ended up ordering something like 50 wings. We were all intrigued by something called "boom sauce" which the Bartender explained was a hot garlic & parmesan sauce. Excited by this description, we got all the wings this way and asked for them extra hit/saucy. Much to our dismay, the wings came out bone dry and covered in huge chunks of garlic. We went through two full bottles of hot sauce trying to dress these up to an acceptable level of hotness. This place was OK overall, good apps, good prices, piss poor wings. read more

Stopped in here for lunch with my boyfriend as it was close to my work. I'd heard good things from people so I thought I would give it a try. Definitely neighborhood Dive Bar feeling and it looks like they tried to update recently however it's very dark and updates look dated Circa 1990s. Our waitress was friendly and seated us quickly. My boyfriend ordered the crab cake salad which was okay. The crab cakes had a lot of bread crumbs and we're very salty. I had chicken wings and spinach salad. Wings were good and spinach salad was okay, bacon dressing was not heated all the way which I thought was odd. Over all was a mediocre experience. Went during karaoke party- that I didn't know was happening. I ordered take-out by phone. They told me 30 minutes- so I waited to arrive until that time passed. When I got there, I asked the bartender who I could I see to pick up my phone order, and she rudely answered "I don't know who took your order" and disregarded me from that point on. I ended up having to wait outside of the kitchen so I could get a hold of someone else more helpful. Another guy told me that it would be another 20 minutes wait. When my order was finally done- I paid in cash which had to be handed to the bartender - she didn't even give me back my change directly. She instead gave it to someone else to hand to me even though I was less than 5 feet away from her. Horrible service to say the least. Food wasn't that great either. Best things: extensive menu with a wide variety of food. Prices are incredibly reasonable especially for the quality. Excellent and professional waitstaff. I enjoyed coming here because it had a "townie" feel which is hard to find in the city. While my meal was good, it was not exceptional. I had pasta which was a tad on the oily side but the flavor was good (I just didn't want to look at what I was eating). I will definitely be going back to try other dishes. I recommend this restaurant for people who live and dine in the city but are looking for a more casual, lowkey and reasonably-priced city restaurant. read more

This place never disappoints! Monday they have a dozen clams (raw, steamed, or casino) for $6! They always have fresh and delicous seafood plus the service is just fantastic. We come to Boomerangs regularly for caudal dining. The food is always well-prepared and quite a bargain, with virtually everything on the menu being around $10. Tonight, I had the veggie burger with cheese, which was served on a nice toasted roll with onion, leaf lettuce, and tomato (this is not on the menu for some reason, but they almost always have them). There are a number of other VEGETARIAN options on the menu, including a few pasta dishes, a portobello sandwich, and some salads. The folks I was dining with tried the broiled fish and something called a "Davey Crockett"--a cheeseburger topped with fried bologna. Both like their meals a lot. Every night of the week, this place seems to be quite busy, so I know we're not the only boss who appreciate the quality food at a good price. read more

Went there for the first time last night (Thursday) my dinner buddy and I had the: Chicken and banana chili soup- spicy but just right Bean soup Pot roast Sheppard's pie And add in a frozen margarita AWESOME!! The margaritas were easy to drink and not over limed yet tasty Everything we ate was like home made, not over salted or oily. The portions are big, so go hungry!! And the prices are very reasonable. Nice atmosphere at the bar. Attentive service with a pleasant mood. We were happy with the 2 for 1 happy hour special on beers. We ordered Two appetizers: chicken wings and beans & greens. Medium wings served hot and fresh from the kitchen with just the right amount of sauce. The spinach in the beans& greens was still crisp but done just right. Tasty garlic flavor. I was excited to finally go and have lunch with my daughter & Son in law, brand new baby twin girls & mother, as we left Children's Hospital. I personally know one of the Chefs at this establishment who is amazing with all his creations. As we parked in their snowed parking lot, my daughter fell!!! OMG, she had just had c section for the girls and was crying in horrible pain. We helped her up and as we continued to walk in, I immediately asked for the owner William ( Willie) Ruiz and he was not in. The waitress was not sympathetic or the least concerned with the accident. I had to asked her to find a towel to dry my daughter's leg & side. When I told her I wanted to call an ambulance, her attitude was like - you do whatever you need to do! Really??! My daughter went home and I really don't know how she's going to feel from this accident. This was our choice to introduce a group of hungry out of towners to some local food favorites along with some standard fare. Our service was excellent from the moment we walked in to the time we left. We were a party of eight on a busy Saturday night. We started off with the appetizer sampler platter and assorted baked breads. The sampler platter was a hit (pizza logs, mozzarella sticks, buffalo batter mushroom caps and shrimp), but the breads were nothing special other than the spinach and melted mozzarella which was a hit. A bowl of chicken wing soup was ordered and very much enjoyed. Our waiter even pointed out that some of the dinners came with a choice of a cup of soup or salad if he'd prefer the cup. How nice! Usually you discover this uninformed and after the fact. Our entrees ran the gamut, and some fared much better than others. The highlights were: the cheeseburger salad, beer battered fish fry and the beef on weck. The Italian dishes: eggplant parmesan and a vegetable pasta were not hits. The vegetables in the pasta were fresh and al denté, the pasta was a bit mushy and the sauce was without much flavor ( a bit of roasted garlic would have helped!). The eggplant was cut too thin and too heavily breaded... The breading is pretty much what you tasted along with the highly acidic sauce. (We love Santasero's eggplant parm just down the street). If you eat local (and not the Italian options), this is a good choice and value! read more

Went back recently and food/menu were much improved! Beer taps still not up and running, but a more varied beer selection. Had the special which was BBQ brisket that was more like a BBQ pot roast, but very tender and flavorful all the same. Very happy to see things are improved from the last time. read more

Well! The boyfriend drove by here earlier in the day and thought it looked interesting. So we headed out for dinner. Arrived a few minutes after 6pm. We entered the bar area and went to the stand that said please wait to be seated. Now there are only 5-6 tables and one was being cleaned off. We waited almost 15 minutes to be seated as the host and waitress kept disappearing...the patrons at the bar whom I'm assuming were regulars finally were looking at us and looking at the dining room..and one of the customers said..."oh for pete's sake, hon I'll seat you!" (lol) so she grabbed 2 menus and sat us. Then we sat there another 10 min and she came over with a couple juice glasses with warm water. It obviously bothered her we were waiting! We should have took our cue right then - Another 15 minutes went by..no one came for a drink order - so by this time I'm getting a bit irritated...as we realized there was only 1 waitress (fine as there were only 5 small tables). She was CLEANING off an empty table and I finally got up and went over and said..."any chance you can come over to our table and take our order?" (lordy!) "Sure, just a minute" (???) WHAT? lol I'm laughing now as it was quite pitiful. Soooo she takes our order - stuffed mushrooms for an app and I had veggie burger and boyfriend had garlic wings. Long and short of this entire post of mine...it was 7:30 and our dinner still had not arrived!! The mushrooms arrived after an hour...(again by this time there were 3 tables of 2, including us! The waitress came over at 7:34 to say it would be right up...I said..forget it...give us the wings to go and forget the burger as they don't hold up as 'to go' orders etc. The host guy then came over and apologized, brought our bill...took off my burger and the mushrooms and said..."Please come back...don't judge us on this" Uhm...too late! I think what bothered us the most as no excuse or real apology ever came out of the waitresses mouth...maybe she was avoiding us..but at least come over and say something even that they were shorthanded! read more

The first basket of bread had mold on it and the waitress was annoyed when I asked for a new basket. One of our group never received his salad. Two had to wait another 15 minutes for food. Another was given the wrong order and, again, the waitress responded with annoyance. When we complained, the owner shrugged and walked away. Then, at the end, they included the gratuity in the bill. My mother selected Boomerang's for a Friday dinner after hearing good things from a friend. The four of us made the trip to Niagara to give it a try. My first impression was one of confusion. The building layout is odd - the closed kitchen is in the middle. So as you enter, you have to go left through the bar to walk all the way around to the dining room on the right. The ambiance is neighborhood dive. Not a bad thing but good to know if you're looking for a classier night out. The dining room could use a good cleaning, too. Our server was personable and efficient. The food was decent and good sized portions. I don't think I'll be going out of my way to come back. But if I'm in the neighborhood, maybe (although there are more and more options popping up on Niagara so Boomerang's may have to step up their game). Perhaps in the summer to try the patio, if the traffic isn't too distracting. read more

Well of my past 4 tries of boomerangs, only 1 was good. The last consisted of the worst beef on weck. I have ever had. Overcooked, dry, somewhat grizzled and no au jou. Yes it is cheap but in this case you get what you pay for. The other two bad meals were the steak....tough, chewy and grizzled. The other the liver just awful...again tough, veiny and uneatable. So why did I go back...with friends who go there. Stick to the pasta dishes and you'll be alright. read more

This is the best resturant I've ever been to. I had a teacher in high school who's uncle owns this resturant. We went there as a class on our Local History fiel trip for lunch. Not good.... went there tonight the food is always like hit or miss... had the chicken parm, apparently they charge extra now for a dinner salad, of course they don't tell you this...they don't give you dinner rolls unless you ask for them. then when you do ask for them they don't bring them out "they are always waiting for them out of the oven". The chicken parm tasted like it was cooked yesterday was very rubbery. The sauce tasted like it was straight out of a can. My friend had the meatloaf he said it had no flavor he didn't eat a bite. We call this place "the dump" because you never know what you are going to get. We have been here many times and Tonight was the worst i have ever had. We just recently went there and there was 4 people in my party. The atmosphere was great and it smelled delicious when we walked in. We heard the place had great seafood and we couldnt wait to try it out. We went to the hostess station and they told us to wait at the bar because it would be a few minutes for a table. As we were waiting we had a few cocktails. The bartender was an older lady who looked frazzled by the 8 people sitting at the bar. After a half hour wait and watching tables leave and them sitting everyone else, we approached the hostess stand the man said give me one minute and walked away. We waited another 10 minutes before we got up and left. Horrible service. Probably will never return again. read more
