Highly recommended!!! On our way heading to OH after amazing tour of the Niagara Falls. Found out this by chance and tried the soups of tomato and corn, ordered fish and chips and the beef sandwich also. WOW, every single item tastes so good! Those fishes reminds me of our experience in the UK. Though we had experience of great fish and chips plus Scottish beef sandwich, this wonderful experience in such a small town is an eye-opening to us! Salute to the chef and the owner also the waitress for their hospitality, love the atmosphere! Highly recommended to have a try if you visit the Falls.

Another great experience at wiechecs ! My mother loved their famous fish fry which is served daily ! I enjoyed the wings (hot) which they were a finalist for in best wings for buffalo spree and m gf got their souvlaki wrap. Service has always been on par as well the quality of food. Always a good spot and family owned and operated for decades.

Great place for a fish fry, especially if you are hankering for it on a day other than Friday. They are serving a great fish fry daily. Fish was delicious ... a very large piece with plenty of sides. Fries, slaw, potato salad and macaroni salad ... you will not leave hungry! Service was very good! Waitress was nice and attentive. Ambiance is no thrills with a very big bar area and plenty of tables to handle the lunch crowd... though I'm guessing things get much busier during fish fry season. Parking is limited and pretty tight. I parked on a side street. I would definitely recommend for a fish fry!

Photos can't show how massive their portions are which I'm glad hasn't changed, this place has been in Buffalo forever & that's one thing our city is known for. Wiechec's is an old polish tavern that has been around for years & is known especially for their fish fry's, wings, etc. They don't have corned beef everyday of the year but my coworkers and I update each other almost everyday around this time of year on when they'll have it. The waitresses said they eat it everyday they have it, and that it should be back around this weekend! Don't expect anything flashy. This is a place for good food & good service.

It's definitely a great spot for a fish fry! The fish fry was huge came with fries, Cole slaw, potatoes salad, and macaroni salad! The fish and sides were all very good. My only suggestion would be a bigger plate. The fish was thrown on top of all sides. It was very hard to eat, and the fish became soggy. I ordered the seafood gumbo soup to go with the hot pepper burger. The soup was absolutely delicious. The burger was a fail for me. It felt like a frozen beef patty. The patty was too large for the roll. The burger had NO seasoning. It was a bland burger patty with one pepper stuck on it and cheese and was way under cooked for MY liking. The vibe is old school, eating at grandma's kitchen, which was cute. The service was fine.

Fish fry mood. One of the best, served everyday of the week. Fish was perfect and huge. Sides were delicious too. Ribeye steak sandwich was a hit as well.

Fish fry is delicious and quite large, comes with potato salad (ok), Mac salad (yummy), Cole slaw (good) and fries which I didn't eat and a slice of very good rye bread. Clam chowder was very good. Place was packed at 3 Pm. Not easy to find parking but worth the effort.

Surprisingly they don't offer their own tartar sauce.

Wiechec's Lounge is a legend. A long time ago, there was a couple named Rose and Henry who took over a simple bar. They offered an extended food menu and great hospitality to the local community. The Family continues to feed loyal customers and everyone who craves a comforting home cooking style meal. Their fish fry is famous nationwide. I knew we should give it a try before Lent ended. Four of us headed to Kaisertown on Friday early evening. Man! This place was packed. The waiting time was around an hour. There was no hostess besides sheets of paper hanging on the wall covered with names. Just sign in and have a drink, or not. The bar area was loaded with people. After ordering our first round of beer, we managed to take over one of the two big tables located there. We ended up skipping the waiting list by having our meal out of the dining room. The negative side about being in the bar area was not being able to easily hear each other because of the noise. Also, our table was covered with a strange looking 'patina'. I'm not a wimp, but basic paper mats would help in general. Our server was young and energetic. I really liked her attitude. She was helping without being pushy. Four beer battered fish fries came at the same time. Yes, the portions were huge and I was already full from drinking beer. Suddenly it felt like a challenge. Don't listen to me, but I think our fish were too greasy. One of us took the batter off and enjoyed thick, flaky fish without it. My fish was the smallest, but its color was actually the best, not as dark as the rest on the table. The coleslaw was too sweet and didn't have enough crunch or vinegar. We all thought it's definitely a side not made in the house, but we were wrong. According to our server, only tartar sauce (obviously) and potato salad wasn't from Wiechec's kitchen, which was also on the sweet side. The macaroni salad needed just some extra pepper to be perfectly delicious. The fries were fine. In general, it was quite an experience. This place is 'An Old Buffalo Tradition'. I'm glad I finally visited, because this restaurant was on my list for too long.

I wish I could give this place 4 or 5 stars but it was just not worth the hype. I will admit that I got take out so perhaps eating in the restaurant would be a better experience but I was not impressed. Ordering over the phone was a breeze. Someone answered right away and was friendly over the phone. Picking up was a different experience. It was crowded and I was wearing a mask and just didn't seem to be welcomed. No one else is as wearing a mask, including staff (just a heads up). The bartenders were not welcoming and seemed more worried about talking to each other than me. I live about 10-15 mins from this place so getting home to eat my food did not take long. The first problem I had was that they use packaged tartar sauce. 2nd problem I had was that they use styrofoam that does not have individual sections so my wet macaroni salad and potato salad completely soaked my fries and the bread. Disappointing. Overall I rate this 3/5. As I said maybe having a fresh fish fry in the restaurant might make this better but it's just an average meal to me.

I really liked this restaurant/bar. My party and I ate in the back part, early dinner. Two of us had the beef on weck. It was a pretty thick cut. Round salt pellets on bun like you'd see on a pretzel. It was pretty good. Basket of curly-q fries was huge. We got the large and shared amongst 4 people. Son had the Greek burger. He really liked it. The dressing came on the side. Overall, the food/service was good. Not too crowded at 4:30pm on a Tuesday.

Stopped by Wiechec's on a Friday for their famous fish fry!!! Let me tell you, I was not disappointed!!! The fish was huge, perfectly fried, and deliciously flaky on the inside. I got beer battered of course. It came with a generous portion of macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw and French fries. It was fabulous!! Let's just say no one went home hungry!! I am not one for a lot of the mayo based salads, but I enjoyed the macaroni salad. French fries were good. The other people I was with enjoyed the coleslaw. Potato salad wasn't their favorite, but still good!! I would come back in a heartbeat!

The view of the lake is stunning, and I loved that you can see the water (and sunset!) from pretty much every table. It really makes the whole dining experience feel special. Our server, Kyra V., was amazing! She was so friendly, personable, and honestly just adorable. She made us laugh and gave honest feedback when we asked about the menu, which we really appreciated. You can tell she truly enjoys what she does, and it made our night even better. The food was phenomenal. We started with the Caesar Tower, which easily fed four adults as an appetizer -- and it was honestly one of the best we've had. Highly recommend! Our entrees did not disappoint either... everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The specialty drinks were crafted perfectly and were just as impressive as the food. But the most impressive thing is the food - we were blown away. The best things were any of the pastas, the shrimp bao buns, and the red shrimp, but we loved everything (orange chicken and steak frites). The red shrimp honestly tasted better than lobster, and came with a really good garlic butter. We would order this over and over. The shrimp bao buns didn't' just have tiny chopped up shrimp - it had large chunks of shrimp and you could taste them. The prices are also very fair. In the summer you can even see the lake and eat outside which is a plus. Galene is now one of our favorite restaurants in the area and can't wait to go back.

It is a top notch restaurant that uses high quality and fresh ingredients and adds gourmet touches that are higher end but still work for the Buffalo crowd. And the portions are usually generous. I like it here but a lot of the menu options don't work for my diet. So when I come it's for someone else's occasion but it's still very much a treat. I will say that the staff is always accommodating and helpful to ensure I find something to eat. Most recently I was able to enjoy a delicious special that was grilled prawns with mescaline and vinaigrette, supremed oranges and grapefruits and artichoke hearts filled with herbed goat cheese. It was delicious and filling enough I was able to eat it as my main. The flavors were unique and blended well together. I was full but it was still light. The herbed goat cheese stuffed artichokes were delicious and a real treat. I'd hope to have them another time. The citrus fruit touches were a nice contrast to the richness of the cheese. If you want a delicious meal and a nice place for a date or girls night definitely check this place out.

The stuffed mushroom with artichoke stuffing was very rich and flavorful. Lots of stuffing. The Carrot Papardella had large chunks of fresh seafood and great sauce. The penne with steak was very good. The marsala sauce was very rich and filling but flavorful with that sweet marsala wine sauce. Steak was tenderly cooked perfectly. The service was very good and it's a cute spot that I'd be willing to come back to. The best thing we had BY FAR were the beef croquettes. These were perfect, and I could have made a meal out of them. They had a tender birria like shredded meat inside with some cheese and probably some potato, I can't even remember but I do remember that everyone loved these. We also ordered asparagus, the Korean Fried Chicken, the shrimp with potatoes (all small plates) and one of my friends ordered the duck entree. My husband and friends had cocktails and mocktails; I didn't order one because they said they had nothing that was sweet. Incidental pet peeve: Saying "all our cocktails are balanced". I get it, you want to brag. But, some of us like things that are sweet, or as in the case of one of my friends, decidedly NOT sweet. If all of your cocktails are balanced the same way, it gives little useful info on what to order. I will respond to this by NOT ordering and sticking to tap water. I'd prefer it if you have a little something sweet and a little something not-sweet on the menu for those of us who don't actually want "perfectly balanced". That said, I did have a sip of the cocktails the others ordered. To my surprise, I liked the Broken Garden Tools. Though it wasn't particularly sweet it was also not super sour/tart and it was refreshing. I *could* have ordered that one, but I never would have known it from the description. I didn't like any of the others I tasted, but I can't remember what those were. Since I don't like whisky and I prefer sweet drinks, don't take this to mean that they don't have good drinks - the others enjoyed theirs, they just weren't to MY taste. Of the other dishes, I liked the cabbage that was on my friend's duck plate (I didn't try the duck). The asparagus was fine. The shrimp and potatoes was ok but not as good as I'd hoped for. And honestly, I didn't love the KFC. It didn't seem to be twice-fried and super crispy like KFC should be, and the sauce to me wasn't balanced between the sweet and spicy flavors I prefer. However, my husband liked it very well. The only other thing I'd caution is to double check ingredients. There was a dish ordered (I can't remember which now, some kind of bread maybe, but not listed as a bruschetta) that said it contained rosemary among other things but did not list basil. We saw no rosemary at all, but a lot of basil, which I can't eat. So I didn't have any. The others shared it. I would have been more disappointed had it been my selection. My friend noted that the server did not ask us about any food allergies, which, if your menu doesn't accurately list its contents, is problematic. Fortunately I know what basil looks like so no harm done. All in all, I would return, get lots of croquettes, order a Broken Garden Tools, and maybe try some other things we didn't get to. But I'd double check all the ingredients.
