I usually take several photos, but first time there and the space was long and narrow. We went early --and I recommend going early dinner both for parking and seating-- but there were enough people sitting that I'd be in the way getting snaps. Also many people waiting to pick up orders, so the front was also too busy for getting pix. Another thing I would recommend is sitting at table instead of booth. We sat in a booth. The problem with the booths, or at least the first booth from door, is either the seats are too low or the table is too high. Terrific fish fry: haddock with two sides. Loved the light breading on this. Also available is the Buffalo classic fish fry-- beer battered and fried, standard sides... fries, Cole slaw, mac salad. Very interesting menu. Inviting. So I will be accepting the invitation to come back for the Portside (lobster sandwich), and for the seafood fries. More reviews to follow. Very personable employees, enjoyable decor. Music a tad loud, and incongruous. I read a review from last year that described the music, though also too loud, as R&B. That sounds just right. If you're still hesitant about visiting Flaming Fish, don't be! It's a very hospitable place. From the moment of entering, we met our server who welcomed us with open arms. We visited in the late afternoon on Friday. My partner wanted the traditional Buffalo Fish Fry. I was looking for something that wasn't a deep-fried carb overload :). At a certain point, new guests began streaming into the restaurant - including those who were there just for takeout orders. Our food arrived straight from the kitchen and was still piping hot.The Fish Fry received nothing but good reviews. The beer batter was crispy and flavorful. The haddock was flaky and perfectly cooked as well. The order was missing the corn muffin, but the rest of the sides were there, house-made and delicious. The Lexington dish on The Mains menu sounded more sophisticated than it actually tasted. It was very good indeed, but it lacked a bit of 'zing', something to elevate its flavor from being flat. The broccoli was boiled and served as a side dish. Had it been char-grilled (as indicated on the menu) perhaps it would have added more flavor and texture to the dish? Anyway, as I mentioned, my course was very good/satisfying. I should have asked for at least some lemon wedges. Next time I'll definitely order the Shrimp Po Boy :). The food here is definitely 5 stars. Everything is delicious! They take their time to cook the food and the wait is worth it. Everything tastes homemade. I did have to drain the coleslaw though because I did not care for the amount of dressing. The service is superior. Our young server boasted that he doesn't do social media or TV. Perhaps that's why he was so energetic? However, the atmosphere is a bit raucous. The music genre was fine, just too loud for early evening. I didn't get to hear the live music, the band was seeing up as I was leaving... Which was close to 7:00. And the booths have odd dimensions. Grabbed some food from here for takeout after work and I am so thankful I ordered from here! I kept going back and forth on the menu but ended up getting the fried fish with shrimp combo. It came with three sides and a corn muffin, which was incredible! I got the mac salad, coleslaw, and french fries to make it close to that traditional fish fry meal. I got the Flaming Fish style breading on the fish and the shrimp. It was absolutely delicious. Better than any other fish fry I have had in Buffalo. The mac salad was good and had some good spices in it. The coleslaw stole the show with how good it was. And let's not forget about the jalapeno cornmeal muffin, that was so good! The service here is quick and friendly. Everyone was super happy to help me with my order. The vibe is so nice in here. It has the downtown, upscale vibe, but also feels cozy and friendly. Located on Main Street, right across from the Hyatt, this long narrow restaurant did not disappoint. They originally were a food truck so, they obviously are doing something right to graduate to a brick and mortar location. The hours were a little different than what was posted and they don't seem to be open for lunches anymore. We were there early and were welcomed and seated promptly. They offer beer and wine only, which is fine. We decided to split the fried green tomatoes which were crisp and served with a spicy remoulade that complimented them nicely. My sister had the pasta Magnolia which was shrimp, lobster, crawfish , mussels and crab tossed in a creamy scampi sauce over fettuccine. I opted for the Lexington. Cajun baked haddock with shrimp over rice with broccoli and a spinach Parmesan sauce. Both entrees were very tasty and certainly a generous portion. Our server was great. Very personable and knew we were out having fun. He joked and bantered with us making the experience even more memorable. Great location for when you going to the theater district , we went to sheas and walked to flaming fish! Nice comfy place with amazing food! We started with the best I've ever had gumbo, rich, very flavorful with two full shrimps, pieces of sausage, amazing! Then we shared the seafood dip, WOW never had such an amazing, unique , delicious dip with large chunks of seafood and a very cheesy dip, it was out of this world!!! I have done countless reviews and I am struggling to put into words how amazing our experience was. Fresh, clean, comfortable dining area. Parking in the city is a little difficult but well worth it for this place. Service was great, Dee was our server. Food was AMAZING, portions were huge, prices were very reasonable. We were at the Yelp event last night. It was very well attended. Such a nice variety of food. Fish and fish tacos and very tasty quesadillas. I was unable to try everything but everyone appeared to enjoy all of it. We stayed for the full night. A server brought out a few platters of quesadillas and dished them out around the room. When I tell you that sandwich SLAPS--like, crispy, juicy shrimp, that magical "special" sauce (I don't know what's in it and I don't need to know... it's divine), and bread that's just the right amount of toasted? I wanted to go out to dinner. I asked my 20-year-old son if he wanted to come with me for dinner he said yes, but he wanted seafood. So I went to yelp and I looked at seafood restaurants, and the flaming fish popped up with great reviews. Restaurant has a very small entranceway. There were five or six people sitting on a bench inside next to the door. It looked like they were hanging out, but apparently they were waiting for takeout. There was one person in the front of the room, our waiter, Hugh . The acoustics are very poor in there and they play classic R&B music very loud. I like the music, but it was way too loud. I think it was loud, so they could hear it in the kitchen. Anyway, there were three booths, Hugh said that he would clean off booth number three. Apparently, the kitchen staff were eating in the two of the other booths. They got up the minute we were seated. A woman squeezed by me at the entrance with about six loaves of white bread and went into the kitchen. My expectations started to drop. The menu was two-sided laminated, slightly dirty and wet. We decided to play it safe and eat everything fried. We tried the calamari appetizer and the calamari was good. It came with a triangular 1 inch slice of lemon on top. When we asked for more lemon we received 3 half, razor thin slices of lemon. Thank goodness my Diet Coke had a larger wedge of lemon in it and we used that instead. Their " famous Remington sauce" for dipping, appeared to be mayonnaise with chili powder. It was horrible. My son and I opted for the fried haddock and shrimp dinner. Even though the menu said two sides came with it our waiter said we get three. So I had the garlic mashed potatoes, the fried okra, and the rice and beans. My son got french fries, string beans, and broccoli. The dinners come out on a 12" x 8" tin plate. There was no paper underneath. If you're going to charge $29 a tray for six shrimp and a small haddock fillet, it better be as fresh as possible. Everything appeared, and tasted frozen. It was not bad. Just little flavor. The breading was good except they sprinkled Creole seasoning on top of everything! It was too much. Some of the sides came in 3 inch aluminum condiment cups. My fried okra was OK but had very little flavor. The rice and beans had very little flavor as well, and was Watery. Their garlic mashed potatoes were gray in color. I tried it, but couldn't eat it. It was not fresh.My son's fries were cold. He liked the broccoli and the green beans. They had a lot of takeout orders at the front of the restaurant, however as people waited for their food they were loud. My son and I were the only ones having dinner in the restaurant. Our poor waiter Hugh was a great kid. very personable with a great attitude. However, he had to man the front door. Wait on tables. Bus tables, sweep the floor, and ran every takeout order from the back to the front and nobody from the back ever brought food out! I saw four people back there when I went to use the restroom. Of course this led to really slow service. I blame the owner. We didn't eat all of our food and the trays just sat in front of us for way too long. Hugh was the only one that appeared to be working. He asked us if we wanted a dessert. I asked if it was homemade. Hugh said: Everything is homemade! He rattle off 10 different desserts. I asked if it was printed on a card anywhere he said nope, he has it committed to memory. I asked him how much the peach cobbler bread pudding was, and I believe he told me it was $12. We opted for the "homemade" chocolate cake. That took probably 20 minutes to come out. I asked for a cup of coffee and I was told I'd have to wait because they have to brew it?? Who wants to drink old coffee? Anyway, the bill was $93 for two entrées, one appetizer, one Diet Coke, one black coffee, and one thin slice of chocolate cake. I paid cash and have no printed receipt. It was not worth it. I can't tell if this is a franchise, or a startup business. I hate to write reviews like this. But I'm pretty passionate about how I cook for my family. And I think if my livelihood depended on it, I would be passionate on what I serve people. I believe this restaurant is destined to be an expensive fried fish takeout restaurant. Their plating is horrific. The food is just OK. The waiter was the only positive thing I can say. There was no Owner or Manager who came over to us to ask how our meal was. Completely contrary to the glowing reviews that I read on yelp. I won't be back. Too bad. read more

Stopped by at a YELP EVENT 7/8/25 nice crowd I attended very late in the event but enjoyed the complimentary fried shrimp. I was very late to the party so that is all I was able to try there was a red sauce I thought was cocktail sauce was just ketchup. A couple of tiny plate of a mixture of what I was told was ceviche. Maybe it was but I never had ceviche that didn't have seafood of some sort in it. I can't fault anyone but myself but I will give another review when I am able to return. I had called earlier in the day to make a reservation. When we arrived and my wife told the waiter we had a reservation for 6:30, he acted like something was terribly wrong. It was to the point where my wife said, "What's wrong? What did we do?" He just shrugged it off and seated us. It was really weird. At that point, my wife ordered an iced tea. The waiter informed us they were out of iced tea. She ordered a lemonade instead and when he brought it to the table he said they were out of ice. Probably should have just left at that point, but we were there so we thought we'd just stick it out. The food was edible, nothing great. Everything is seasoned with Old Bay seasoning - everything. The menu has changed and instead of two sides, they now offer three sides. Me and my guest both ordered the same fish fry with different sides. The fish was cooked to perfection, the macaroni and cheese is THE best I have ever had, those sweet potatoes better than any Thanksgiving table and the sauces, presentation, hush puppies, muffin and cole slaw were also perfect.
