The side of yams was alittle off, I can't put my finger on it. The seasoning and flavor was good but I think the texture was off for me. I think I like a bit more bite to my yams. The Mac and cheese was great on both plates! Our service could have been better but our server seemed overwhelmed so I understand. She was still very nice. Our hotel provided us with a Buffalo booklet and we saw this restaurant featured and decided to give it a try. I also looked up the reviews on yelp and the food looked delicious. The restaurant is downtown, and we parked right in front. Found it strange that we could only order to go and there wasn't a dine in option on a Saturday. We still ordered and ate in the car. We had fried haddock, sweet potatoes, and collard greens, along with a slice of Hennessey pound cake. The food was hot. Had good flavor but wasn't a fan of the breading on the fish and the cake was very dense. The gentleman that took our order was very nice and the chef was also friendly. All in all the food was OK. People always talk about the trendy New Orleans inspired restaurant Toutant that's down the street , little do they know that Brother's has some great southern cuisine for a reasonable price . My jambalaya pasta (with shrimp, chicken and sausage) was the most satisfying pasta dish I have had in quite awhile . It had some heat but not too much so and all the meat was plump and flavorful . My friend got the fried chicken dinner with Mac and cheese , beans and collard greens . She said everything on her plate was phenomenal . To finish , we both splurged and got some banana pudding . When it was time to order, my wife and I disagreed on wing flavors. She wanted lemon pepper, I wanted honey cajun. We asked for a single order of each. Our server then suggested we combine them into one double order. This surprised us. Most servers at other restaurants would happily charge for two singles when you're ordering different flavors, but here she was saving us a few bucks just because she could. As we waited for our food, we admired the surroundings. The vibes and decor spoke to elegance and sophistication, but also simple, laid back, and relaxed. You want to go out for a nice dinner with great food, but don't want to have to dress up for fear of being judged? This place is a great candidate. As for our wings, they were great. This place landed on our list of restaurants to get back to as soon as we took our first bite. My orders arrived and they were left on the front porch. The instructions were side door upstairs!!!! And the orders for my dinners were all wrong. Call back and this same young lady acted like she came from idiotic school saying oh yea that didn't have anymore greens and didn't have any flats for turkey wings!!! I've thoroughly enjoyed each visit to brothers. I've had a variety of things from their menu, the fried lobster, streak, steak egg rolls, Mac n cheese and my personal favorite the salmon pasta. The portions are nice and the drink options are also good. I've always experienced very friendly staff which always make the experience that much better. Their salmon pasta dish is huge in portion. I feel like it can feed two people (or at least at the time of this review) the salon has a Cajun seasoning and is topped with fresh Parmesan cheese. The pasta is fettuccini and mixed with peppers snd onions. Just delicious. Having enjoyed trying various restaurants that have been in that space, i ordered the jerk egg rolls with pineapple salsa for takeout. Didn't look into the takeout container until i got home and ready to warm them up to eat. these were no ordinary eggrolls: they were on steroids! My mom is in town so we ordered the Curry Chicken with Mac n Cheese and Yams, Ox Tails with Green Beans and Butter Beens, and the Hertel Appetitizer Platter. The presentation was great and I'm sooo glad the taste matched. Loved the portion size. The Curry Chicken had a nice flavor to it; not too spicy. The Mac n Cheese was cheesy with a nice stiffness to them (I don't like soupy mac n cheese). The Yams had a great sweetness to them. I loved the amount of Ox Tails we got. They were sooo good. The green beans had a nice flavor to them. The butter beans were good and they came with rice. The Hertel App Platter came with 3 chicken fingers (tasted better than regular frozen chicken fingers), 2 jerk rolls (jerk chicken and cabbage in an eggroll) which came with some really good pineapple chutney, and 2 soul rolls (Mac n Cheese and Yams in an egg roll) They are located at the old SeaBar downtown and they have breakfast with the option of bottomless mimosas. Instead of reaching out to me to ask which flavor I would like sauced, he took it upon himself to not sauce the wings and put the sauce on the side. Greens are exceptional, as is the stuffed meatloaf. Mac and cheese is super rich and was quickly devoured.
