If you love Neat, Vice is the perfect choice if you're in Buffalo for a play, musical, or concert. Same menu. It's in walking distance to many performance venues. You need a reservation on Fridays after 4:30. Food and drinks are great, as expected. I didn't enjoy the ambiance as much. It felt louder. Plus we were seated in an area where you share the bench with other tables, although the tables are far enough so you don't feel like you're sitting right on top of everyone. They were closing at 11pm and we walked in at 10:24pm and were told that we had 4 minutes if we wanted to order food. We sat at the bar and ordered right away. Visited Vice for the first time yesterday. Dinner was acceptable but pricey for what we got. The restaurant was not crowded at all...especially for 7:00 on a Saturday night and it was exceptionally loud. The floor and walls are concrete so the noise and echo made for an unpleasant atmosphere. I can't imagine if it was crowded. The thing that fried my cookies, though, was that a 20% gratuity was added to the bill (there were two of us). The service was fine.....but don't tell me what to tip! I usually tip far more, but not last night. It was not obviously disclosed anywhere on the menu or wall signage but only on the bill. For this reason alone, I will never go back. My husband and I and some family came here for dinner before going to Shea's, and we had a great time! Because I'm pregnant I can't drink, so I got a Shirley temple, and it was so good and they gave me so many cherries! It's the little things that get you through lol. They had wicked themed cocktails, since that was the show Shea's was performing, and my husband got the dancing through lime, the twist on a mule. He really enjoyed it! For dinner my husband and I split the vodka pasta and the crispy chicken sandwich. The vodka pasta came with a chicken cutlet and bread on the side. It was so delicious and filling! Our server came over in about 17 minutes and inhabited she was swamped . Not really the excuse you want to hear after waiting. We received an appetizer and then our dinner. Our server never checked on us for extra water or another drink until we were done with our meal. At that point we were ready to leave. There is a 20 percent tip automatically applied to the bill. In most cases I don't mind paying this amount for a tip but this time I was annoyed . You can ask to have the check adjusted to leave your own tip... doesn't seem appropriate. Came in on a Wednesday evening with a reservation for a party of 7 at 630. Host immediately checked us in and told us "She's getting waters for your table and it will be ready soon." Soon turned into about 10 minutes of us standing there until one of us asked the host about our table and it looked like he had to remind someone to get our table ready. Waitress came by after a few minutes and we ordered drinks that took over 15 minutes to arrive (she said the bartender was slammed when she dropped them off). We ordered the cucumber and strawberry fizz mocktails and they were nothing special. Food took about 20 minutes and was pretty good. Waitress was friendly but never came by to check on food or fill waters (maybe she was also slammed?). Here comes my biggest complaint about the whole experience: I'm no restaurant designer, but if I'm putting floor to ceiling windows on a west facing wall, I think I might account for the daily sunset. It was in the eyes of half the people in our party, even with us all trying to scoot into one corner of the booth. I thought about asking for a table change, but looking around the restaurant, every other customer was either already dealing with it, or about to be dealing with it. Some people were fortunate to still have their menus and were using them as radiation shields. We asked a passing staff member if there were any window coverings they could lower and she glanced up at the sun, muttered something unintelligible, and walked off never to be seen again (even by the members of our party with uncooked retinas). Overall, the problems with this place seem to be fixable. Add more staff and either invest in some window shades or provide sombreros for those customers interested in retaining their eyesight read more

I met a bunch of ladies for brunch today from the Gals that Brunch Buffalo group. I hadn't been to this venue before and their billing practices were a little weird. You pay the $25 (plus tax) ahead of time, if you're there for brunch. They take either cash or card. THEN, after you eat, you're charged for your drinks. Well, we had two tables of women. My table had seven and the other table had eight. The woman across from me had her card on file. Her card was charged for everyone at the table. We all had cash on hand, which was handy. The other table in our party didn't put everyone on the same bill. The food was really good at this buffet. They had yogurt, waffles, french toast, french fries, chicken fingers, bacon, eggs, breakfast pizza, and pizza with just cheese. I took a little bit of everything, except for the pizzas. The bacon was perfect. It was very crispy. I had some coffee and a small mimosa. Both were very good. The service here was very good. The staff were all nice. All in all, it was a good experience, and I wouldn't miss nd returning for brunch. read more

Located in an industrial area of town sits a fun, hip restaurant/lounge space. We were able to find a street parking space across the street that was free after 5 pm. Once we got inside, we had to wait about 15 min to see a hostess as they were very busy the evening we were there. Once we were seated, our server at the bar area was very friendly, and we got our orders in pretty quickly. Sadly, our food came out before our drinks arrived. I had the fried cod and sweet potato slivers with couscous while my friend had the BBQ bourbon chicken pizza. The food was good, but was nothing to write home about. This place has some improvements to work on buy they certainly have potential to be an excellent little establishment downtown. Such an impressive flavor combination. The wings could be fried a bit more crispy, but the drinks make up for it! I got the "Adios Pantalones" and it's sooo good! I have eaten at Neat and absolutely loved it, so it was a no-brained to try Vice. Much of the menu is the same with some items being individualized, so you can get that patented flavor in either location. I went with the rigatoni and chicken this time to try something new. It's touted to have homemade rigatoni, and I thought it has a good amount of bite. At points I got a lot of spice in my mouth, which I believe came from the chicken, but still it was a good dish. It was a Friday night, so naturally the restaurant got quite loud. It is a bar, so I'm not shocked by it, but you definitely will want to take the noise level into account if you want a quiet dinner on a weekend, as this may not be the place for that. Went for Sunday brunch with a friend and really enjoyed the food and the general vibe of the place. There was a DJ playing music and was spinning some really great tracks and it though it felt busy inside, the food came really quickly after ordering. We started with some fried shrimp as an appetizer, which were really delicious, and came with a great dipping sauce and both me and my friend ordered burgers. I had the brunch burger which had fried egg on it of course and they got the Vice burger came with caramelized onions. All the burgers cost $18 with the exception of the brunch burger being $18.50. The brunch burger came with home fries and the regular burger came with french fries of course. We also had mimosas, which were $5 dollars for a glass and unlike other places that charge the same or more for just a small flute, here you get a proper wine glass which was nice. Whenever you ask around Buffalo for something cool to do this place is consistently recommended as a place to consider stopping by and for the life of me I can't understand why. Their pizza was the worst we've ever tried. The "Buffalo Chicken" - I expected it to taste/resemble some good spicy buffalo wings... being in Buffalo, NY.... to start... the sauce tasted like plain unseasoned/uncooked tomato sauce out of the tin with lots of sugar added. The chicken also tasted plain and unseasoned. There was a very scant amount of buffalo sauce flavoring in the background... The dominant flavors were sweet tomato sauce and onions... The crust was thin, barely risen, no flavor, no good chew... though it was "chewy/tough" though not in a good way.... I would have re-named it sweet tomato sauce and onion pie.... yuck... We also tried the GF crust with sausage/cheese toppings.... the GF crust was "throw away" - I do NOT recommend eating it, may as well get toppings on cardboard. We also tried the stuffed pepper pizza... that also was bland... uncooked/unseasoned "green" peppers... not jalapenos.... as that would have added some flavor/spice... nope, just some plain/NOT spicy/uncooked greenish... possibly pepperoncini peppers stuffed with plain cream cheese... tasted like nothing... and raw... Bell Peppers have more flavor and spice... the same sad crust as the Buffalo pizza... The only upside to the ordeal was a great waitress who got mgt. involved and they comped us a couple of desserts... a lemon cake and a brownie with ice cream... both of those were good. I tipped the waitress well for doing her best to save our experience :) Perhaps this place is ok if you're looking for drinks and dessert. Good Luck If VICE is reading this review, OMG, you'd be better off buying some premade pizza sauce and frozen crusts. Rao's would be a huge improvement. I was in Buffalo for a family member's birthday party and we all met for brunch at Vice on Sunday morning. The decor is nice and modern. Although not affiliated with the Aloft Hotel, it's right next to it. There are a few cool murals painted on the walls and a fun, colorful buffalo hanging from the ceiling. There was also a DJ mixing music, which I enjoyed. I will say the quality of the food did not match the thought that was put into the ambiance and decor. Upon arrival you pay the $25 + tax for the brunch buffet. For an additional $15 you can add bottomless mimosas. A single mimosa is just $5, so it's a good deal either way. One member of our party is a strict vegan and because there were no vegan options on the menu, she did not want to pay to get in, but did want to celebrate with the family. The hostess and manager made a big deal about it even though there were 30 people in our party, all paying $25 up front. Eventually, they decided to let her come in without paying and she didn't eat. There is a separate loft area up a few stairs which was nice for our large party, however it is not wheelchair accessible, so we had to move down to the main floor. The servers come by and take drink orders and you can head to the buffet at any time. The servers were nice and the mimosas were fine for the price. Now the food. The reason why I must give this place 3 stars is because the food was not great at all. The buffet was pretty much something you would find at an airport hotel's continental breakfast, included in the price of your room. They had waffles, pancakes, and French toast, however the better option was definitely the prepackaged muffins and pastries. There was yogurt with granola, but the fruit was frozen and after a while looked pretty gnarly because it had been sitting out. I was delighted to see turkey sausage, but one bite in, I almost spit it out. The sausage was boiled and had a very strange texture. There was a small saving grace, the breakfast pizzas. There was a steak and egg option that had a garlic sauce base, it was delicious. There was another spicy bacon and sausage option that was good as well. Honestly, it seemed like the only thing that was cooked fresh and in their kitchen were the pizzas. Every thing else on the buffet was lukewarm, flavorless and kind of sad. Overall the food was a let down, especially because the place looked cool and like it would be the perfect spot for a boozey Sunday brunch. The two star rating is in large part due to the $25/pp brunch buffet that was like a hotel continental breakfast with chicken tenders/fries, and cheese pizza under a heat lamp. Neat is one of my favorite restaurants in the Buffalo area so I knew that Vice was going to be too. Vice is located on the first floor of 500 Pearl. The vibes at this place are immaculate. Their menu is very similar to Neat's. I came here with my sister for brunch. My friends have been raving about their brunch for a while. For parking, you can park on the street but there are also a few lots nearby. One great thing is that they are offering reservations now. We ordered the French toast and breakfast pizza to share. The French toast was absolutely delish. We were afraid they were gonna be too sweet but the cream cheese filling was perfect and super creamy! I thought the strawberry purée complemented the French toast well. The star of the show was definitely the pizza. The crust was perfect and there were plenty of toppings- scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage. I can't wait to come back and try other things!!! Definitely one of my fave places for brunch :) read more

Litteraly found this restaurant as I was going to give up and just eat hotel food. My boyfriend and I loved the diverse menu. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and our server Jarek S. was extremely knowledgeable with the menu and also accommodating with our request. We ordered the wood fired French onion soup, balsamic seared salmon and the garlic Parmesan Atlantic cod (the cod was a tad bit heavy on the salt but still quite yummy). Dinner with family. Service is good. Wasn't busy at all for a Monday night. Maybe it picks up during football season? Good pizza. Good wings. Don't get the Caesar salad or if you do ask for less cheese if you don't like a lot. They put a crap ton of cheese on there. From my group I was the only one that wasn't a fan. I'm also the only one not from Buffalo. Plenty of street and paid parking. Not sure what it looks like during weekends but I don't think parking will be an issue. Good space for large groups. We went in for a late dinner on a Friday and the place was surprisingly not very busy. It took a while for the server to come to the table but he was super nice when he eventually did. The pizza was pretty good, maybe a little too much arugula but still very tasty. We ordered it well done and the crust was just right. The Brussel sprouts were AMAZING.
