Food very tasty. Ambience was great. Nicole our server was very tentative. She explain very well the special of the night. Will come back when in the area!

Just a quick update, I came to the Steer hoping they brought their Tom and Jerry back.... they didn't but i still had a great time, lol. Instead I ordered their hot apple that definitely made me feel warm and toasty. I was very pleased with this drink because it very well balanced, not too sweet nor did taste strong. I was initially going to get wings and fries but when I saw they had cauliflower crust pizza I knew I had to give it try. They wings saucy and crispy as usual, but this pizza was excellent, I had to ask the bartender did he put in the right order. Cup and charred pepperonis, the perfect cheese pull sauce tangy with hint of sweet. What perfect Thursday night, in a chill atmosphere. Definitely one of my faves !!

Staff is always friendly and welcoming and the Chef seems to really take pride in their work. I am pleased.

My husband and I went to the Steer for dinner with our grandson. The Steer is a go to for us with friends and service has always been friendly and efficient. Last night was no different, Joe (server) was excellent! The food as always was very good too! We started with our favorite app, the calamari w/ chili sauce. It is lightly sautéed and delicious ! Grandson had grilled cheese off the kid menu and said it was the best he's ever had! My husband enjoyed his wood fired pizza and I liked my topless burger; burger served on a dressed salad . One huge negative is that a soda is over $6 and refills are also $6+ !! My glass of wine was $11 so I think that soda is a bit of gouging .

I'm a little mixed on my review here. Our visit wasn't bad but nothing exciting that would make me want to go back any time soon. Initial impression was the offputting from the gas torches outside the entrance. We stopped here on a Sunday evening so didn't expect much of a crowd. The bar was pretty much empty and the dining area had people at only 3 tables. Sort of a weird atmosphere. We ordered a couple of wood fired pizzas. First was the caprese pizza with mozzarella cheese, tomato, basil, and topped with a balsamic reduction. The other had chicken, artichoke, provolone cheese, and banana peppers. Both were thin crusts which I like. The caprese was good with the balsamic reduction which I normally don't associate with pizza but I preferred the chicken. The combination of artichokes and banana peppers gave it a bit of a different flavor that I enjoyed. And the chicken wasn't dried out which often happens with chicken strips. Our server was pleasant enough. Nice surprise when we got our bill and saw that the chicken pizza was included as a $6 happy hour special that runs until 7:00. The food was good. Maybe we'll go back another night when the place is more lively.

I adore the Steer. ADORE. The Steer is somehow a quirky joint, friendly neighborhood bar and nice restaurant all at the same time -- you could say a triple threat! If you're going out drinking late on the weekend it's your place. If you're stopping in solo for a weeknight pop, this is the spot. If you're celebrating with the family, sit in the dining room and enjoy dishes made from local ingredients and plentiful vegan options. Don't let the outdoor torches, saloon atmosphere, or one-way mirror in the bathroom deter you. Rather, embrace them. On the other side are refreshing cocktails, new friends and damn good pizza, pasta and burgers for herbivores and omnivores alike.

Amazing food and ambiance of fireplace, brick and warmth.. Haven't been here in decades and was surprised. Great job!

Celebration of dear friends in their wedding reception! Top floor was beautifully put together with social distancing involved. Very small gathering and food was delicious! The staff were professional and welcoming towards party! Haven ? was 1 of the bartenders who made awesome drinks and also made suggestions if I wasn't too sure of my choice of spirit! Top floor is really nice! Many of us didnt know it even existed! Majority of us came to the decision of coming back and doing future events! Its close enough to home and drink and food is good quality! I can see myself adding this restaurant to my list and definitely recommending to others in the future!

I went to the Steer for brunch with a group of friends and family for my birthday. The restaurant itself is nice and I liked the atmosphere. We were seated in the back room which allowed a lot of natural light in. We started with a carafe of mimosas because, brunch. And those were great. I ordered the Chesapeake eggs Benedict which are eggs Benedict with crab cakes. I sadly did not enjoy these eggs benny and it's one of my favorite brunch meals. The hollandaise was too thick and lemony and the crab cake tasted reheated. The potatoes were great - full of flavor. I also tried a few of my friends hot wings and those were amazing! Some of the best wings I've had. So, I probably will return, but not for brunch.

Great restaurant - All ages, all styles - awesome, consistent food. Very creative offerings and healthy twists with garbanzo tots, hummus and then there is your usual burgers, wood-fired pizzas, and salads. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

With the low cost of fountain drinks , is it really necessary to charge $6+ for a soda and same for a refill ? Should be included with the kids meal or at least free refills.

    Are you open for lunch?

Not currently, we plan on weekend brunch by august. Lake effect diner next door is open for lunch, closed Tuesday.

My girlfriend and I shared the apple pecan salad and a Detroit-style pizza. Both were delicious, and the portions were very generous. It was not busy and we didn't have to wait for a table which is a plus. I ordered smoked turkey, with salad and sweet potato fries and a pg13 which was ginger beer, mint and I added a shot of vodka. When our food came out I had to question what was going on with the sweet potato fries because they had a thick coating and looked beer battered, not at all indicated on the menu. I asked the server, Kelsey W., and she paused and said yea I don't know for sure but if you can't have gluten I wouldn't eat them. I was annoyed at the situation and just took them off my plate but I understand this can happen. The server seemed annoyed and goes on to blame me and says I should have told her. Now will say I did have to go through the salad ingredients and pick most of them out, she didn't ask me about allergies either. And it's not common to add a beer batter coating to sweet potato fries without indicating it in the menu. The menu should be updated asap for other guests. Any other server would apologize for the situation and ask how they can make it better and not blame for a customer for a misunderstanding. After that I realized there was an extra sauce on the tray, I asked her to check with the kitchen to see what was in it, is it safe for me to eat? She came back 15 minutes later and said she will check and have an answer soon. It was not busy, this was not acceptable. Again clearly not showing any help for your guest with a food issue. This showed me she had zero concern or care about this or trying to smooth it over. Finally, towards the end of the meal I realized my water was leaking, had thought it was condensation as it was hot out. My glass, water cup had a huge crack in it. You would have hoped that someone would have seen it before serving it to someone. Clearly a safety issue. I hope I didn't ingest glass. I handed it back to our server and told her this glass needed to be tossed in the trash. Her response was another blank look, she didn't really care and just gave me another shallow I'm sorry. The rest of my meal was tasty and it was a large portion. Everyone else at my table had nice looking food and was happy with it. I will personally not come back here. District 37- it wouldn't hurt to update your menu and add what is gluten safe and indicate what kind of coating is on your sweet potato fries because a lot of people who choose these have special dietary needs. You should also train your staff to help bring up allergy issues with your guests and have more empathy if an issue arises. If this is something a server isn't able to work on they might consider an alternate employment opportunity.

The GPS took us to the first location that opened (the waitress said the 1960s) a long time ago. The building is sitting at an angle from the road so go to the right and turn in to park or go past and turn right for the parking lot. Middle of the afternoon on a Thursday they weren't too busy. We were seated immediately and waited on quick. I wanted some clarity with the wing heat. Some places hot is mild or hot is burn your face off. She clarified the medium hot is hot so that's what I decided on for an order of 6. My sister isn't so much of a wing person so she decided on a grilled cheese. The waitress was pleasant and answered all the questions we had. The restaurant itself isn't too big but can seat a lot of people. Total wing vibe. Lots of different flavors and quantities went by...everything looked tasty and fresh. They had Yuengling on tap so that's what I ordered. She had a pepsi. Food arrived fast. The aroma was to die for (ok it burns the eyes a little...). Came with celery and blue cheese. The wings were amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. Crunchy celery and cool dipping sauce. Bigger than most that I have ordered and very freshly prepared. After 6 I was filled up...but I ordered another brew just to wash it all down. If you're in Buffalo (or the area) it's definitely worth stopping to have a treat. Other Buffalo favorites are on the menu as well (Beef on Weck sandwich. We will definitely be back, more flavors to try and locations to enjoy.

Tables were too close, people are way too loud. I can't eat in loud surroundings. I don't like that, and it was so hot in there that it made me very uncomfortable. I believe all restaurants and bars, etc. should be air-conditioned and make people comfortable. If they're too cold, they can always put on a jacket but when you're too hot, I can't take much off. I ordered the roast beef on Weck and fries instead of potato chips. I was very satisfied it was delicious. Very expensive, I found everything was very expensive on the menu, but if you want good food, I guess that's what you gotta do is pay more. Jim ordered mild wings, they still looked good even though I'm a hot wing person. I was looking at everybody else's huge plates of wings that were coming out and they looked so amazing. I'm definitely gonna get some to take home some time. Anyway, the wings looked good smelled good, Jim said they were very good, my sandwich was good. The fries were good, the waitresses were nice so the service was pretty good. But again too small, too loud, too hot, and those things just don't make me happy. I probably would go in there again and eat if somebody else wanted to, but I'd rather take my food to go next time. One other issue I had is definitely the restroom. That had to be the smallest stall I have ever been in. Anytime I moved I banged into one of the walls. They have two stalls in there, which to me is definitely not enough when you're serving "spicy hot " food. At one point there was five people in the restroom. Luckily, I just had to wash my hands in that visit. But the restroom is way too small and when I talk to Jim about the ladies room, he said the men's room is super small too, so they're probably about the same size. So that was definitely a negative thing for me was the restroom.

It was a bit busy (30-40 min wait for dining area), but there were a few tables off to the right of the bar where you could seat yourself. Luckily, one opened up right as we walked in. I loved all the sauces we tried (saucy hot cajun, medium, and garlic parm). The wings were perfectly crisp, and the steak pizza had a ton of flavor. Definitely a heavier meal, but if you're bringing someone from out of town who wants great wings, this is a spot worth taking them to.
