Decided to try Mitchell's Tavern on a chilly Saturday afternoon, and we were very pleased with the food and service. The Factory Fuel beer made by Great Lakes was very tasty. The beef on weck was amazing-tender, juicy, and piled high with a touch of gravy and horseradish sauce! My husband had wings with Carlos sauce, which made them nice and spicy, served with tasty bleu cheese and celery. Everything came out hot, and with extra care given by our server, Lexi, who took excellent care of us. This is a casual neighborhood tavern with great food and no pretention. Stopped by on a Saturday night there was a pretty good crowd, juke box was playing some good songs until someone kept playing Beyoncé. We ordered beef and 20 wings medium. First, our server, Jen, was a real pro. She helped steer our selections, kept our drinks full & was super prompt. Second, this is the cleanest dive bar that I've ever stepped in. I mean seriously .... There isn't a speck of dust, dirt or grime in site. And given the amount of paraphernalia (much of it signed -- impressive) that is a huge feat and really speaks to the staff's commitment. The stars of the show? The food!!! So tasty!! My son said it was one of the best clam chowders he's had a restaurant...ever!! I did the pastrami special on rye of course with just the right balance of sauted onions & mustard .... DELICIOUS! The hubby did the beef (on Wec of course!) with so much horseradish. My DIL did the chicken parm sandwich (with extra jalapeños) and it was fire. My other son did the spicy beef and I'm pretty sure his eyes were watering ... but in a good way. The big surprise? Cajun fries with gravy & cheese. Wow. So good. Such a great, random stop. Mitchell's is a friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant with a few craft and domestic beers on tap, a full bar, and delicious food. It's true that they have the best Beef on Weck! It's juicy and tender. You can also get it served on a plain costanzo roll or on white bread with gravy (like a hot brown). We also ordered the banana pepper crunch rolls (special) which were absolutely delicious, as well as the onion rings which came with a spicy boom boom sauce. The onion rings were wonderful; crunchy and not greasy at all. The bartenders here were friendly and checked on us frequently. Everything came out quick. Decided to stop here because we were in the area and the pictures on Yelp looked too good to pass up! It was not busy on a Saturday around dinner time which was nice that we walked right in and had a table. There isn't much seating but there's a bar area too that I'm sure you could order at. I was mostly excited for the wings and ordered hot and was offered extra crispy which I of course accepted. They were not crispy and were not the best , just ok. I ordered the roast beef and that was very good and I would definitely recommend. One thing I didn't like is that the sandwiches did not come with fries (no one wants chips!) so fries are extra but the food is so cheap it's not a big deal. This is an unexpected treat in the middle of nowhere. There is complimentary popcorn, so of course I'm in. We saddle up to the bar and the bartender, Lisa, is extremely friendly and helpful telling us what they are known for, which is beef and beer. Nick, the owner, is also very friendly and is the cook. They have many specials, the best being 60 cent wings during Buffalo Bills and Sabres games. Score! Who cares if either team is winning when you could get cool sauces that include alcohol like Jack Daniel's BBQ and Deep Eddy's Garlic Parmesan. I went with the beef on weck and wing combo, which was $12.50. That price is incredible compared to what everyone else in Buffalo charges. The beef was tender and very good. The wings were sauced medium and very crispy. I really enjoyed the entire thing. This is a place that i have seen many times but?didn't ever stop in. I heard good things about the beef on weck. I was in the area so I stopped in while waiting for the bus. It's a big place front dining room long bar that opens onto the patio. The bar and patio has four tables the dining room has eight as well as a pool table. I was greeted by the bartender Lisa who is very nice and knowledgeable of the food and drink menus. Mitchell's has a reputation of good roast beef on weck but the Philly steak is another favorite. The Philly steak had a hot sauce that sounded good so I decided to get the beef on weck with a side of the said "Carlos hot sauce". The sandwich was as good as I heard it was. Tender sliced beef with horseradish on the side and a dill pickle. At Lisa's suggestion also a small order of Cajun fries. Food came quickly and hot. Delicious beef on weck and fries. I also tried two of the bar's ten draft beers. The southern tier ipa and carlsberg pilsner. Both were delicious cold and wet. Truly hit the spot. I will make it a plan to return. read more

Every Monday my friends and I look for a new divey place in WNY to get wings. This past Monday we chose Mitchell's. We had a great time and I definitely want to come back to try the beef on weck! Here's my review: The bar area is on the smaller side but they have made great use of the space. If you're not into sitting at the bar the entire time there is a pool table and dart board to keep you and your friends entertained. Fries: loved them! I could've eaten 3 baskets if all I went there for was fries but be warned, they're filling! Pickle fries: I liked that they used small pickle spears as opposed to chips or the large spears you'll get on the side with a burger. I felt it was easier to bite into the fries without stealing the entire pickle out of the fried coating. Served with boom boom sauce (not sure exactly what that is) but it was sweet and tangy and paired nicely. Deep Eddy Garlic Parm Wings (pictured 2nd): these were probably the most garlicky and parmy wings I've ever had! The sauce was thick and creamy which I really liked. Shawn and I both agreed that we would've liked a kick to it to add some additional flavor; but to be fair, it wasn't a spicy garlic parm. More sauce would've been nice considering the ones that were coated were the best. Medium & sweet baby rays bbq (pictured 3rd): This is one of the rare places that will let you split a single order! I've had sweet baby rays multiple times so I skipped trying this one to save room in my tummy but my friend loved them! He said those were his winner of the night. The medium were unfortunately disappointing. It looked like there was practically no sauce on them and tasted like a mild. Deep Eddy Garlic Parm MIXED WITH Jack Daniels BBQ (pictured first): a great suggestion from the bartender considering I couldn't decide which flavor I wanted to get. The Jack Daniels bbq gave the lemon parm the tang that we felt the regular garlic parm could've used. I was a little nervous about how the flavors would all be combined but I loved it! I honestly could've drank that sauce. The wings could've been a little crispier for me but they were nice and juicy on the inside. This flavor was the winner for me! My bill for a beer, shot, pickle fries and wings came to ONLY $26! read more

I've been to Mitchell's 3 times now since it's close to my work. It's a great place to grab drinks or a meal with colleagues. Mitchell's has typical bar food. They're known for their roast beef sandwiches. The only thing I didn't like about it was that they put gravy on the sandwich. I was completely thrown off when I saw it. It was okay only because I was disappointed that it had gravy. It's Buffalo...I want my beef on kimmelweck with just horseradish. The beef itself was fantastic so I really can't complain too much! I'm sure it's no problem to order it without it. Just keep that in mind when you order. I've ordered other foods and it's always delicious. They have great service too. I've been to MT a few times now, and I love when you immediately walk in, you know that you've entered a Buffalo Sports haven. Pictures are all over the entire bar from Wide left, No goal, Kelly, Hasek, Miller, Spiller, Peca, Flutie, Brruucceee, and all the favorites. Mitchell's literally captures Buffalo Sports one great team at a time and is really fun to reminiscence over. Mitchell's is also drink specials heaven. Specials during all Yankees games, Bills games, Sabres games, daily happy hour and even week night specials, you can always save some change if you go during the right time! They feature your typical domestics: bud, coors, labatts, molson, yuengling but I've always seen some Stella and Flying Bison there, so you never know. Also I love over indulging on the free popcorn which seems to be always way too salty. The food, especially their specialty the roast beef is something to order at least once. It is definitely some of the best in the city! I've also enjoyed the meat loaf as well. The cost of all their menu items is beyond a great value. There are also plenty of TVs, so whatever game you want to watch, they've been willing to change it to suit my tastes. Go to Mitchell's for a great time! We had a coupon for BOGO sandwiches, so my boyfriend and I stopped by here on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The interior is dark and cozy, reminiscent of a neighborhood bar from the 90s. Between the ambiance and awesome sports memorbilia, I felt right at home. Prices here are CHEAP. So cheap that it almost felt pointless to use our coupon. The food was nothing to rave about, but its unpretentious presentation fit right in with the bar's personality. Service was attentive and friendly, even though we were sitting at a bar table instead of at the bar proper. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, my lunch partner had the Greek burger and a side of fries. Between that, our coupon, a marginally generous tip, and a couple soft drinks (we were still in recovery mode from the night before), our bill was only $14. For that alone, I will return. read more

A couple of buddies and I decided to take a whirl at Mitchell's for some goofy juice and wings. I'll tell ya what, a whirl it was. We ordered a round of yuengling bottles and were brought yeungling lights despite the fact that we expressed to the server that we do not drink light beer. I told the server when she came back with the diet booze jars that we actually ordered some plain ol' yeunglings. But she wasn't okay with that apparently and didn't replace em with the tasty version, so that was pretty dumb of her. Anyhow... One of my mates ordered the beef on weck with 5 wings. Beef looked like it was cooked in my grand-mammy's sun room for a day or two and Jimmy concurred that it tasted that way, I been around the beef block once or 90 times and I've never seent a grey colored beef sandwich before cause I usually don't fiddle with less than Bar-bill... well I admit we goofed on going here. My other buddy and I had both had an order of Carlos' wings. They were fried quite proper but I'll tell you the sauce tasted like vinegar and hot sauce deluxe. I finished my meal and noticed there was a critter on my plate. First time I ever got a dead millipede for free with an order of vinegar wings. The bartender/server seemed kinda shocked about the bug, but the owner apparently didn't, cause he decided our (probable) consumption of a fistful of other bugs was only worth comping our meal. But not the beers, those suckers that we didn't even order were to be paid fer. So, cheers to Ol' Mitchy for standing his ground and letting us eat at his bug buffet for free. Drove out of town tonight to try something a little different.... upon entering Mitchell's and who is renowned for their beef on weck i walk into their feeding dungeon by light of my phone after turning the lights on for myself I see why everyone was getting drunk... this place smelled like an old gopher hole and a bottle of aged cat spray... really fired me up for my meal. Couldn't believe the beers were so cheap... ordered several with the pony express they're using for a waitress and along the voyage back to my table they picked up some extra buddies, I spent the next 3 minutes pickin glass out of my beer of the wrong variety... there couldn't be anything else to go wrong could there? Well wait there's more... I ordered some wings and the weck... I tried their signature "carlos' sauce" well let me tell ya, I figured out the secret to the sauce 2 parts soiled t-shirt juice to 4 parts house cleaner wasn't enough to kill me I still had my tasty beef weck comin... here it comes... couple piles of grey kneadable eraser heaped on to a roll half turned crouton with some old grease trap spread... what kind of booger made this sandwich...I decide to cut my losses and focus on the wings... wish i hadn't... found out I was sharing my wings with a millipede just about the same time dingleberry Debby ended her shift in the ladies room haulin logs.
