The chicken also had great visual appeal and appeared freshly fried, but it tasted like it had been cooked in old oil and lacked any real seasoning. The location itself is tucked away and offers little to no seating if you want to stay and eat, which makes the overall experience less inviting. There were a few things that looked promising, but the quality simply didn't match the presentation. Finally got to try their chicken and waffles! Tried the BOGO 3 chicken tenders with a waffle and bottle of water. The owner was very friendly and excited to talk about his food. Gave us a sample of the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. We enjoyed the meal out on the picnic tables and I especially liked it with Red Hot on the chicken. Let me tell you about my lunch!! So its black restaurant week so of course I chose to support. But how could I choose a place that is currently serving lunch and will deliver ? ( I'm at work and don't wanna lose my good parking spot,lol) I decided to check out Crenshaw's Chicken and Waffles!! Now I know the spot is known mostly for their namesake, but I am here to tell you that you need to give the fish dinner a try !! The food arrived still hot courtesy of UberEats and actually arrived at the given time!! The fish was giant, crispy, and flavored to the T!! Now I consider myself a mac and cheese queen, so when I saw there were spiral noodles, I was skeptical!! However I was quite pleased !! I could tell that they made a cheese sauce because there cheese throughout the dish. I was especially happy to get some of the cheesy crust on top! The green were decent with pieces of potatoes in them, but unfortunately, I didn't try the chicken salad because I was unsure if it had mayo in it. Lastly, the meal also came with a beverage, which was nice. Overall, I truly enjoyed this meal !! I will definitely be ordering this and other meals more often from this establishment. Finally got a chance to check out this black-owned restaurant over at the Chandler Street market and it did not disappoint. I got the Cinnabon waffle with chicken tenders, The decadent indulgence of the waffle, really with something different and tasted well balancedwith the well-seasoned chicken tenders, which were a good size. The meal came with a drink of choice and I just got an apple juice to really lean in to the breakfast vibe of this meal despite it being for dinner, lol There were several other flavor options for the waffle available and definitely will return to try others in the future. Also, the owner was so personable and even apologized for the food not being piping hot once I got there to pick it up as this is a takeout only establishment currently and I got there about 25 minutes later than the schedule pick up time. My sister came up to celebrate my graduation, and she treated us to some delicious eats from Crenshaw Chicken and Waffles for Mother's Day. She ordered quite the spread: the fish, Cinnabons, smoked Gouda mac & cheese, green beans, and yams! I only got to try the Cinnabon chicken and waffles along with the mac & cheese, and oh my goodness, they were so delicious! I'm bummed I didn't get any photos, but I was really impressed that my sister traveled all the way from Georgia just to find this gem. I can't eat fried foods so I was so excited to see baked chicken but was hesitant when I saw I was served the breast because it's normally dry when people attempt to bake it. I was impressed! The baked chicken breast was juicy and flavorful throughout. So much so that even though I was at a professional event I picked it up and began sucking on the bones. I never had them before but I will definitely seek them out now. Apparently they don't serve baked in the restaurant only for catering, but they are on my radar now. It was my first visit to Crenshaw's it was a little hard to find, but I found it and very glad I did, I got the cinnamon waffle with five wings, it came with blue cheese, hot sauce if you needed it, but the wings were seasoned to perfection, no need to cover the flavor, the cinnamon butter on the waffle was delicious, didn't really need the syrup, smelled so good, had to open and taste in Wegmans parking lot before I went in, I couldn't make it home, the service was excellent, the recommendation was on the money for me!! I tried Crenshaw's after seeing many positive reviews . I ordered online as this is the only way to order right now. We got a few different things to try including chicken wings country fried, seafppd salad, chicken sandwich and red velvet waffle. When I arrived to pick the food up it wasn't ready, but the staff informed me and thanked me for my patience. Inside there were a couple of tables but outside the building there was more space to eat if you wanted to. The best thing was the waffle, it was delicious and tasted like moist cake. The wings cpuld have been cooked longer,but taste was good. The chicken sandwich was just ok in my opinion. Seafood salad was ok, but nothing to brag about. Prices were a little high in my opinion, but I guess that's to be expected these days. I would go back for the waffle but can't say that I would go out of my way for the other things. I'm not really a chicken-and-waffles person but this place smells so good from next door (same parking lot as Flat 12 Mushrooms) that it's been on my list to check out for a while. I was excited to see it on the list to celebrate Black Restaurant Week in Buffalo! The waffles were a bit too sweet for me (waffles are pretty much always too sweet, that's just a me-thing). The chicken is SO GOOD. Chicken tenders are nice and large, juicy, and have great flavor. The smoked gouda mac & cheese is on point too, flavorful with perfect texture. The other sides looked tasty and I look forward to trying them next time. I love that the meals come with a bottle of water. Bonus, the take-out containers are good quality and re-usable. Staff was friendly and helpful, ordering at the counter is easy. They have a ton of sauce options to choose from. There are two small tables inside, or a bunch of picnic benches outside - but be aware in the late summer, the yellowjackets find those benches fast if you have a plate of tasty chicken. NOOOWW.. let's talk about this food. My daughter and I had the red velvet waffle with the wings. The waffle was big and covered in butter and glaze(?). I'm not sure what it was but it was delicious and I really didn't need the syrup. The wings were seasoned to perfection and so crispy and the inside was moist and juicy(I'm not sure how they pulled off this perfect combo of crispy and juicy). Then to top it off they gave us each a bottle of Poland Spring water, the Hot sauce packets were Frank's red hot(if you're from Buffalo you already know...this is the only hot sauce), the blue cheese was a nice 2ouce pre packaged cup. Gregory Crenshaw was an absolute pleasure to work with. He helped me put together a menu and worked with me to finalize quantities based on an ever-growing guest list. My questions and concerns were all handled efficiently and effectively. When I came to pick the food up it was ready to go on time and packaged for easy handling. I almost had to pull over on the drive home to have a piece of chicken as the smell was intoxicating. We had fried chicken, waffles, smoked gouda mac & cheese, home fries and yams. To say the food was delicious would not do it justice; It was truly amazing! The guests raved about it all day long. The chicken was cooked to perfection with a coating that was "out of this world" tasty. The waffles (in five different flavors) had my daughters' friends in a state of bliss, especially when they put on his cream cheese glaze! The mac & cheese, home fries and yams were not just afterthoughts, they were each a culinary masterpiece in their own unique flavors and textures.
