So there's definitely some good and bad with this visit. We stopped in for some late breakfast. It was a little before noon and we got a table pretty quick and sat down. It was a little busy but a lot of people started leaving and getting done eating as we sat down. We got our drinks and ordered. Then we waited, and waited, and our server didn't come back for a while. She refilled the coffees and then we waited again for a little bit more. It was about 45-50 minutes from when we ordered to when we got our food. We got the other servers attention for some more coffee and juice. When she came over, we asked her to check. Our food came out about five minutes after that. The only thing I could think of was that our order never got in or didn't get communicated. The food was good. At the point we got it, we were so hungry and a little tired so it was eaten quickly. I think the other thing was there was no explanation or reason why the food took so long explained to us. We got pancakes, eggs, and home fries with a couple of breakfast tacos. Shouldn't take that long and other people getting their orders and leaving before we ever got food was not great. Finally tried this place for breakfast recently on a weekday morning. About 1/2 the seats were filled, so we didn't anticipate a long delay in getting food. We were wrong; the kitchen was working on 2 large delivery orders. The waitress brought menus and coffee promptly. We ordered, and then waited, and waited some more.. We drank so much coffee while waiting we were sloshing on the way out the door. The wait wouldn't have been that bad, but I was sitting by a very draft door and was freezing on a cold, snowy morning. There was a portable heater on the countertop, but it was directed towards the other side of the room. The French Toast was very good, but the bacon was way too crispy for liking. My friend had eggs, bacon and a pancake--more did than she could finish. So good was ok, ambience was not. I think I'll wait until it's warmer outside before returning. read more

Southern Belle has a nice, spacious parking lot and a small dining room with I'd guess no more than 10 tables. When we walked in we were greeted by the cook who was also the waiter at that time (8am on a weekday). We were the only people in the restaurant, but people came in for takeout while we were there. On the menu, they offered traditional breakfast items as well as BBQ items and BBQ for breakfast is a win in my book! We ordered the Texas size cinnamon roll to share as an app, a skillet (queso on the side) and an omelette along with a tea and coffee. They had a nice selection of teas to choose from, not just plain 'ol black tea. My dad ordered mushrooms in his omelette, but they came out after we had ordered to say the didn't have any. The Texas cinnamon roll was made from biscuit mix rather than being made like a traditional cinnamon roll. It was ok, but I think it could have used a bit more cinnamon swirl throughout the roll. My all meat (bacon, brisket, sausage) skillet came out with a good amount of meat chopped up nicely and mixed with potatoes and veggies and topped with over hard eggs. I found it to be perfectly cooked. I'm glad I ordered the queso on the side because it definitely would have been too much for me if it was on top of the skillet. My dad's omelette had his meat & veggies mixed in the egg rather than just being like and egg burrito style (egg wrapping around the meat, veggies & cheese) as most omelettes are. A great experience! I loved the chorizo here. The chorizo wasn't greasy at all and I would recommend any of the chorizo dishes. The Chorizo Gordito was delicious! The server was awesome and very attentive. She never let me run out of water and my friend never ran out of coffee. She was very personable and made us laugh. Nice little spot in Lancaster/Depew area. We stopped in for dinner and were greeted with excellent, personable service. We ordered fried catfish that came with a few sides so I had okra, hush puppies and cheese grits. My husband had an Outlaw BBQ platter with mashed potatoes and hush puppies. The catfish was excellent with a crisp cornmeal crust and a flaky center. The grits were outstanding with a bit of a kick from the peppers in it and the fried okra was perfectly cooked. I've never really had bad fried okra! The bbq platter had tasty, thick texas toast. The potatoes were homemade and the hush puppies were good. The brisket was a bit thin and a little dry but it was flavorful and still tender. The sausage was good and the dry rubbed ribs were excellent. The meaty ribs still had a bite to them, which I like, and were tasty and tender. The homemade bbq sauce was also good on absolutely everything! We can't wait to try more items next time! read more

Two days in a row - Totally worth it! Lunch was as amazing as breakfast was the day before! Service was unfortunately slightly less amazing... the servers don't introduce themselves and while one brought drinks, another took orders and yet another brought the food. My friend asked for no raw onions and the pickles on a separate plate (because I asked for extra pickles) and none of our "special requests" were honored. My favorite thing about this restaurant (besides the food) is that no matter how many or few tables are filled, the room absorbs the noise so you can speak at a reasonable volume and still hear the others at your table. Emily, our server was EXCELLENT! She was attentive, knowledgeable and had a nice personality. She was also aided by being able to serve delicious food! Choose a seat NOT next to windows during cold weather. It was a little drafty there. Tables are small and only about a dozen total. That's not a knock on them, just a fact. The dining area is small for now but if they keep making this good food they will need to expand real soon. Wide had Mexican hot chocolate and the El Gordo breakfast burrito. She enjoyed and finished her drink. She really enjoyed and brought home 3/4 of that breakfast monster! I ordered the Tres Caballeros. I was unsure how brisket and smoked Gouda enchiladas would taste. I'm so glad I took a chance! It was so flavorful and delicious without any particular flavor being overpowering. My daughter and her bf had French toast wit bacon. One strawberry cheesecake and the other Leché style. Their portions were huge considering that Texas bread was used. I went here for days ago with breakfast with friends. The service was okay. My friend has asked for hot tea and was brought hot water with lemon but not tea bags. I had ordered a coffee and ended up getting a water too. I ordered the Egg-Cellent Breakfast. It was egg whites, sausage, has browns and a biscuit. The eggs are cooked however you'd like them. For the meat, you can choose from sausage or bacon. There is an additional fee if you want brisket, smoked sausage, chicken fried steak or ribs. I ordered a cinnamon roll too and it was a huge piece of bread loaf. I wasn't expecting something smaller. My other friend was brought the wrong food. She didn't say anything because she didn't want to complain. The parking lot if fairly small and the restaurant seats about 25. I had a Sweet Deal for this restaurant. (I paid $25 to the Sweet Deal company and received two $25 gift certificates. The receipt on the bill that I posted was prior to using my gift certificates.) I'm not sure if I'd return here. I'm going to start off by saying that I did not go to the diner itself but we ordered food via door dash on 3 seperate occasions. Each time we ordered some kind of food on their breakfast menu. First time we ordered the "el gordo" which means "the fat one" in Spanish lol. That name lived up to be true. The el gordo is fat chunky breakfast burrito with your choice of meat (bacon, sausage or brisket) we chose sausage, also comes with egg and home fries inside, cheese and the shell of the burrito is drizzled in queso and some homemade mild picante sauce...excellent ! Second time we ordered the chicken fried steak skillet with country gravy on top. Under neath the chicken fried steak was cheesey home fries and this also came with egg. This was the star of the show..absolutely amazing and everything is reasonably priced even for DoorDash and the fees from then etc. Everytime we ordered the food came either on time or early so that shows a solid representation of their service and taking care of not just the customers dining in but also ordering out. The third time we just got breakfast tacos and they were good but small. Overall if you're going for breakfast, out of these 3 items we've tried I would highly highly recommend the chicken fried steak and the el gordo second. They also serve bbq which I am a huge fan of so that will be our next order is some sort of bbq plate. Don't sleep on this gem ! read more

As a born and bred South Texas girl now living in WNY I could not recommend this establishment more. It is definitely small and can be standing room only but that's a testament to I how great it is! Real chorizo. Real SMOKED sausage (not Italian sausage masquerading as smoked sausage iykyk), cinny rolls the size of a toddlers head! I really really really hope he opens a second location in the Northtowns. There is a community of us actual southern belles living in the Northtowns and Niagara Co who drive down to Lancaster every so often just to eat here and having a Northtowns location would be amazing. 10/10 read more

I was so excited about this southern style food diner opening that I started eating before I had a chance to take a picture. it's my absolute favorite cuisine. I haven't found a true southern style restaurant in this area ever. It's a great place to have a great meal. It's a small place but still sits plenty of people. I had the shrimp and grits and boy was it outstanding! It also came with two sides, so I did the hush puppies and the beans. The hush puppies were so good, I think I could make a meal out of them! I was also pleasantly surprised that they even do catering! The price was reasonable and about what you would pay for a dinner elsewhere. The owner are actually born and raised Texans. Cody and his daughter Cindi run this place exceptionally fast and efficient. I'll definitely be making this a regular stop for me. read more

This is my favorite diner in WNY. The food is fresh and delicious the service fast, friendly and warm hearted. I have had the smoke show skillet and it is outstanding! My husband swears by the beast skillet. I've had the pancakes spot on! Quaint little place in Lancaster. We read about it on Step Out Buffalo and decided to give it a go. First is the place is quite small, tables are pretty close. I had a half rack of ribs and my hubby had chicken strips. The ribs were AMAZING, very tender, nice dry rub on them. They give you BBQ sauce at the table. Side dishes I had were mashed taters & tater salad. Both homemade and delicious! Hubbys strips were very tender and moist with nice flavor. After seeing the cinnamon rolls on yelp, I had to have one ... OMG huge!!! Definitely well worth the trip from Lockport! read more

Stopped in with a couple coworkers for a meal. I got the breakfast tacos one with bacon and one with brisket. They were delicious, but I would like some jalapenos to spice them up! The dining area is a pretty small space with about 8-10 tables. On the day we visited there was only one server. I would say at this point to make sure you have a little time and aren't hangry when you go. The food is worth the wait. One coworker got the huevos rancheros and said it was tasty. Another coworker got a cup of soup and the smokehouse spud and had plenty to take home as leftover. The prices are very reasonable. I will be back for sure! read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday and was looking forward to trying it for the first time as they plug themselves to be a southern diner. I was excited that they had grits on the menu because that's very rare around here! We had to wait for a bit to even get a menu or a water. I ordered the Egg-cellent breakfast and it came with bacon, scrambled eggs, grits and a pancake. The grits are supposed to be made with cheese and green chilies according to the menu and the server also confirmed that. I didn't taste cheese at all and there was not one green chili in the grits. They were decent plain but had higher hopes I guess being that I've had some amazing grits in the south! Moving on, the pancake was kind of dry and overdone. The eggs were cooked perfectly and bacon was thick and flavorful. I ordered an order of hush puppies to go and those were just ok. The service was blasé. Some of the dishes coming out looked amazing. Stopped in today to have a late breakfast but changed my mine when I saw the BBQ menu. Went for the 1/2 rack of ribs with the 2 sides. Opted for the chili and Spanish rice. The server was nice and friendly. There were a fair amount of of people in the place. she waited on every one quickly and asked if we needed anything. My ribs were great with a fall off the bone texture and a great seasoning and nice smoke ring. Very good flavor and taste. Great price and hey gave me a veterans discount. I chatted with owner who served in the navy for a while. The place was clean and even the bathroom was extremely clean. I will definitely go back and try the build your own omelette because the 6 ladies who were sitting next to me were saying how good the breakfast was. This restaurant has been on our list for a long time, so we decided to stop by on a Saturday morning. The parking is limited and the place is very small. They do their best to accommodate as many people as possible, and do a good job doing it. The staff was very attentive, though the coffee tasted different from your regular diner coffee. I ordered the brisket breakfast with a big floppy pancake. There were a vast variety of items on the menu. They did an excellent job on the hash browns as it wasnt too burnt nor too soft and floppy. If anything, I wish the coffee tasted more like those at most diners. So where do I start? My wife and I arrived for breakfast for our first visit. The place just seemed a little dirty. We're not horribly particular and we know they're newly opened. Also, we're not in our 80's (50's) but it was freezing! Lol. Alright, let's talk about the service, they were busy, and it took forever to get a coffee and tea and forever to take our order. Needless to say, the coffee and tea refills throughout the meal were not good as in NEVER. Ok, we still decided to give the food a chance... my wife had an omelette and I ordered a southwest Mexican breakfast order. The food was outstanding! Absolutely loved it. So my response to the Restaurant, if you have amazing food, get your Sh*t together. You need better service and clean the place up so it looks desirable. I travel for work and enjoy trying out local spots, but I rarely take time to review any of them. That said, this joint made an impact like no other. Being from Georgia, "Southern belle" called out to me, but I soon found that it was deceiving. I was thinking: sweet tea, fried chicken, and maybe some peach cobbler......what I got was far better! This family operated (literally: recipe by father, cooked by the son, and served by the daughter) was a wonderful surprise. My expectations were skewed, but the result was more than I deserved. The restaurant looks like a quaint home and felt like one too. I sat a small bar top, questioned the low price of menu items, and received a platter full of (again, literally) homemade smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork, Texas toast, and two sides.......the green chili and gouda grits are amazing. The barbecue sauce, on the side, was better than any I've had in the south. While enjoying my meal, i was offered a sampling of pecan whiskey syrup and some fire roasted salsa......both of which made me wish I wasn't just passing thru, but here to stay. Service was slow and waitresses were confused, didn't make any eye contact so if you needed anything it didn't happen. We ordered the sausage biscuit and gravy, French toast and a cheeseburger with fries. All were lukewarm at best. We were there at around noon. Very disappointed and won't go back. Also, there was water on the floor that needed to be dried up and the waitress was using a mop that the head of it was black (suppose to be white). Gross! read more
