    Roasted Turkey on Seedles Rye

The Miller House " recently taken over by new owners known as Town & Country Family Restaurant within the last 2 years. I've always been a firmer believer that the simplest changes, or modernizations truly make a difference in the atmosphere and experience for employees and patrons. Finally, after driving by the former " Town & Country Family Restaurant", for nearly five years had the opportunity to dine with my mom for lunch the other day. The restaurant itself was charming with a touch of country style with the booths and the tables, and a bit of modern with decor and upgrades that were done. " Linda", I believe her name was our waitress was comic relief, funny, and attentive and you could tell she liked working there and being a server. The food selection offers a decent variety based on a person's palate and food preferences for meals. My mom ordered a Tuna Sandwich, and my order was a Roasted Turkey Sandwich. Both sandwiches came with chips, pickle, and for a $2.00 up charge sweet potato fries. The food tasted good and overall presentation was average nothing fancy but filling and would come back again when I'm the area. As part of their modernization, they are in the process of adding a patio which will be a great addition. Just don't expect a scenic view, as unfortunately a swamp is next to the restaurant. Check the place out though, support local, and make sure to follow social distancing and respect others, as well as staff working, and your dining experience will be fantastic, as my mom and mine were.

Great breakfast sandwich on a croissant with 2 eggs, cheddar and bacon. Good coffee. Great server.

I'm at a two-week training in Alden. I stopped here for an early lunch with a new friend. The service was great, as was the food. The coffee wasn't too bad either. My friend had their breakfast scramble. He enjoyed it. I had coffee and the bacon and cheese omelette. It came with my choice of potato so I chose hash browns. The waitress was kind and came over for drink refills without coming over too often. The restaurant was decorated well and the booths were comfortable. I'll happily return here soon.

When we walked in, another customer was raving about the food and telling us how much we'd enjoy it, which honestly made me feel a lot better about trying somewhere new in an unfamiliar area. The vibe is like a bar turned restaurant, dark and a little moody but not off-putting. My mom even got a cutesy leprechaun margarita, which made her smile. We started with 10 mild wings for the table, my sister got a Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade, and this is where I tried French onion soup for the first time. It was okay, just really salty. My mom ended up finishing it, but I did like that the cheese layer wasn't too heavy. I'm still on the hunt for a French onion that really does it for me. I didn't get pictures of the mains, but my mom and I both got steak, I had mashed potatoes and she got a baked potato. My sister got the fettuccine alfredo and marveled at the flavor. She kept saying you can tell it's a local spot and not a chain just by the care put into it. My steak was good, nothing crazy but you really can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes were a little bland but still edible. My mom loved her meal and finished everything, while my sister and I both had leftovers. The only downside was the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of impatient and a little passive aggressive, like we were bothering her just by being there. Given the lack of diversity in the area, it didn't completely surprise me, but it was still noticeable. We didn't let it ruin the night though. Overall we still enjoyed it and I'd go back if I'm ever in Batavia again. Reasonable prices, solid food. Taking everything into account, I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I remember when this restaurant was opened by "Alex" and it was…read morefantastic. I knew Alex by mutual acquaintance and growing up in the same small town. He was a professional restaurateur who was paid to sit with celebrities at the posh places he worked in South Florida in the 70s. Whatever else is said, the man had high standards in food and dining experience. When he opened, and for years after the place was always packed and very popular. The food was high quality and your meal came with 2 sides, salad, hot bread and nice presentation at a reasonable price. Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. She didn't mind but I wasn't thrilled. And her fountain drink did not come with the meal ($3.99)! I had a lavender lemon drop martini that was ok. ($10). Ultimately the food is mediocre and it feels like they are cutting corners to keep prices down. But that means it's no longer the special place it used to be. Sad.

Food was ready about five minutes after my scheduled time, which for as busy as they were, I thought that was great timing. Ordered the big sampler, with pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket and ribs! Platter is a nice size with large portions, four of us ate on it. The pulled chicken for me was a stand out, so good! 10 piece chicken wings, cheeseburger with fries, pizza logs and crab cake platter. For our sides we tried the mac and cheese, pasta salad, baked beans, mash potatoes and sweet potatoe fries. Everything was good and would get again, except the crab cakes. These were just not good, very fishy, and burnt. The pizza logs were huge! The Mac and cheese had no seasoning, but was cheesy and after little salt and pepper wasn't to bad. Definitely on my top three favorite BBQ spots! I forgot pictures, but enjoy the video!
