Such a cute little place. The sausage breakfast sandwich was very good! The eggs were cooked perfect. The home fries are some of the best!

Big portions! Good prices! A very friendly staff! This is a small little diner located on broadway and 3 rod. Little drive for me but we do breakfast often and like to try different places. We have been here a few times and the breakfast is always consistent. Never had a bad experience with the food or service. Love how everyone seems to know each other and treat each other as family. My favorite part of the small Mom and Pop shop places. The atmosphere is very simple, it's just a classic diner. This is probably out of the way for a lot of people being in Alden but if your ever heading out to Darien Lake make the stop for breakfast on the way. You won't be disappointed!

After a long day driving all over three different counties, I needed some grub. Since this was on the way home we decided to stop here for brunch. Yikes. I hate to give such a bad review but I am hard pressed to find much positive in our experience. We were seated quickly and our waitress came over to clean our table. Despite that, everything was disturbingly sticky and the cleaner she used almost knocked me out with how strongly it smelled. The coffees we ordered came quickly enough but were weak and only luke warm. I can definitely say that the coffee was not fresh either. I ordered the farmers breakfast which was 2 eggs, choice of meat, home fries and toast. I asked for extra crispy home fries, sausage and eggs over medium. My sister got the French toast. First off my eggs were chewy and undercooked. Which is almost impressive to me. The home fries were not extra crispy...over even crispy...or even cooked for that matter. The sausage was the clincher and so weird I don't even know how to describe it besides saying they were gross and turned my stomach almost instantly. My sisters french toast was more or less cooked bread and completely lacked any flavor at all. The rye toast however, was great! Overall, our meal was extremely disappointing and I cannot see myself returning here. I also felt they were overpriced especially considering the quality of our meal. My quest for a good diner not too far from home continues!

Love this hometown diner! Consistently good food for both breakfast and lunch, plus friendly service. For breakfast, we each ordered the farmers breakfast (pic attached) and it came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Food was very fresh and good. For lunch, my husband tends to order the BBQ chicken finger melt which comes with fries and is awesome, and I usually go with the chicken finger sub - also great. Highly recommend!

Stopped in for dinner with family. We had a breakfast omelet, chicken finger melt and fish and chips. Friendly people and helpful with questions. The food was home made, great taste and filling. No room for dessert. 15 minute drive but well worth it. Our server "Crystal" was very friendly. We will be back so.

The West Alden kitchen is a great place to eat they serve the best breakfast and milkshakes in town. They also offer many great dinner and lunch options as well. So check the place out you won't be disappointed it's a true country diner and I know you'll enjoy it!

When we walked in, another customer was raving about the food and telling us how much we'd enjoy it, which honestly made me feel a lot better about trying somewhere new in an unfamiliar area. The vibe is like a bar turned restaurant, dark and a little moody but not off-putting. My mom even got a cutesy leprechaun margarita, which made her smile. We started with 10 mild wings for the table, my sister got a Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade, and this is where I tried French onion soup for the first time. It was okay, just really salty. My mom ended up finishing it, but I did like that the cheese layer wasn't too heavy. I'm still on the hunt for a French onion that really does it for me. I didn't get pictures of the mains, but my mom and I both got steak, I had mashed potatoes and she got a baked potato. My sister got the fettuccine alfredo and marveled at the flavor. She kept saying you can tell it's a local spot and not a chain just by the care put into it. My steak was good, nothing crazy but you really can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes were a little bland but still edible. My mom loved her meal and finished everything, while my sister and I both had leftovers. The only downside was the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of impatient and a little passive aggressive, like we were bothering her just by being there. Given the lack of diversity in the area, it didn't completely surprise me, but it was still noticeable. We didn't let it ruin the night though. Overall we still enjoyed it and I'd go back if I'm ever in Batavia again. Reasonable prices, solid food. Taking everything into account, I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I remember when this restaurant was opened by "Alex" and it was…read morefantastic. I knew Alex by mutual acquaintance and growing up in the same small town. He was a professional restaurateur who was paid to sit with celebrities at the posh places he worked in South Florida in the 70s. Whatever else is said, the man had high standards in food and dining experience. When he opened, and for years after the place was always packed and very popular. The food was high quality and your meal came with 2 sides, salad, hot bread and nice presentation at a reasonable price. Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. She didn't mind but I wasn't thrilled. And her fountain drink did not come with the meal ($3.99)! I had a lavender lemon drop martini that was ok. ($10). Ultimately the food is mediocre and it feels like they are cutting corners to keep prices down. But that means it's no longer the special place it used to be. Sad.

Food was ready about five minutes after my scheduled time, which for as busy as they were, I thought that was great timing. Ordered the big sampler, with pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket and ribs! Platter is a nice size with large portions, four of us ate on it. The pulled chicken for me was a stand out, so good! 10 piece chicken wings, cheeseburger with fries, pizza logs and crab cake platter. For our sides we tried the mac and cheese, pasta salad, baked beans, mash potatoes and sweet potatoe fries. Everything was good and would get again, except the crab cakes. These were just not good, very fishy, and burnt. The pizza logs were huge! The Mac and cheese had no seasoning, but was cheesy and after little salt and pepper wasn't to bad. Definitely on my top three favorite BBQ spots! I forgot pictures, but enjoy the video!
