Okay Sooooo, before you read my review I don't want you to not go here because it is a nice place and the food is "good" but... Went here for breakfast and I ordered the egg white feta and spinach omelet with a side of home fries with onions and rye toast. Everything is was great besides the lack of feta. I kid you not, I probably tasted 2 cubes of feta. I'm cheese fanatic and I was disappointed with the lack of. The server was so kind and bubbly. Very clean restaurant. read more

First time visiting upon arrival was asked where I would like to be seated not where they wanted me to be, the service was amazing smiled happy waitress who was pleasant and not to mention my food was exceptional my eggs were as I ordered and the home fries was literally the best I have in years customer service was amazing. read more

Always seen this place but never went until today. It is quality diner food and its a place with its regulars. They have a pretty good variety of food. Employees are great and very helpful. Was in the area and needed lunch. Very pleasant place. Clean, friendly staff. Typical lunch/breakfast menu. Excellent burger and fries. Definitely a stop if I were in the area again. Wish they did breakfast all the time they are open. read more

First time experience, walked in smelt great, the service is slow and old as the atmosphere! Got sat down in the front windows. Literally 34mins total from the time sitting down and ordering before we got the food. Not to mention a spider webbing down from the ceiling right above our drinks. Food was not good at all.. seems like the highlight is the toast, that was cold butter thick on top not even melted. The salt and pepper didn't even do justice. Legit unscrewed the pepper and used the whole bottle and still couldn't taste it. The pepper fake or something? The corn beef was not what I was expecting,,, canned?Unfortunately will not be returning. Felt like I was in time out based on how long we had to wait and it was just me and my friend and we got simple meals. Not ashamed to say we didn't leave a tip at all, I leave honest reviews and sympathy for people so I know how the industry is, I'm not looking to bash any business. read more

This place is in the heart of West Seneca at Southgate Plaza. My aunt wanted to come here for a fish fry. We were seated right away. They redid the restaurant about three years ago. I hadn't been here since their remodel. It looked great!!! Our waitress was nice enough and was on point with everything. My aunt ordered a lemon pepper broiled fish fry. For her potato, she ordered German potato salad. She asked for broccoli, instead of one of the offered sides. I should've ordered what she did. I got the fried haddock with French fries and macaroni salad. It was really good. I ended up getting sick from it, a few hours after I got home. I'll give this place another chance, especially if it's my aunt's choice, I'll just order something healthier. read more

A classic diner in Southgate Plaza. We've been coming here for years and I don't know how I never reviewed it. Most recent visit was after Mom's fasting bloodwork at nearby Quest, so this was a no brainer for breakfast. We both chose omelets on this visit and split them. We had ham and cheese and kielbasa and cheese. Both were full of meat and gooey melted cheese. A perfect size, we were able to finish them. We also got thick toasted buttery rye and some deep fried home fries. I will admit I normally don't enjoy their potatoes as I find them too potatoey, but deep frying helps! Of course we also had bottomless cups of coffee as well. I never finish my home fries so they went home in a box with Mom for a dinner side. Service is always fast and friendly. If you're nearby and hungry give this place a try! read more

Chose the Ruben sandwich for my lunch today. The fillings were perfect, tender pastramI, with all the extras. However, the bread was saturated with butter and over-grilled, making it almost impossible to hold. I prefer my bread to be more firm, with a minimal amount of butter and grilling. BTW, the service was fast and friendly, the fries were done to perfection! read more

Tried this place for the first time the other day. My parents have been coming here for years, specifically for their fried chicken (which I believe is only sold on Thursdays). So I decided to split a fried chicken dinner and a Belgian waffle with my boyfriend as a makeshift chicken & waffles breakfast, since we came in at like 10 in the morning. Everything was great! I had a coffee that was very good (I can be pretty picky with restaurant coffee). The chicken was really crisp and flavorful, as was the waffle. We decided to get home fries with onion as our potato choice and those were BOMB. They do make real mashed potatoes here though if you'd prefer that. That's what my parents had. Each fried chicken dinner comes with four pieces of chicken, a vegetable side, and a potato side. Sooooo much food - you could definitely share it with someone and it would be more than enough food. So yes, I recommend. Also, our waitress was phenomenal! read more

Pretty much your standard no frills family restaurant that has been a mainstay in the Southgate Plaza for many years now. I first noticed how clean and divided up all the tables were because of our current pandemic situation, so two thumbs up on that. The service was a bit rusty at first, I ordered a coffee and she forgot both a spoon and Splenda for it, even when asked. Once my aunt arrived though, she kept the refills coming and our order arrived hot and accurate. I ordered an Eggs Benedict ($10 .... pretty good I might add) and she ordered a Spinach and cheese omelet (no sides cause my aunt is doing Keto) .... The prices seemed on the higher end for that type of restaurant, but with how restaurants are struggling nowadays, I can see why prices may have increased a bit. I like Christie's restaurant because you know what to expect when you dine there, a hot meal that will satisfy your appetite! read more

Service at this very busy restaurant on a Saturday morning was pretty good. Drink orders were taken while being seated and timing was good for taking our food order. Food came promptly and pancakes were fluffy. Drinks were refilled a couple times. Overall it was a pleasant experience and will definitely be back. read more

Christie's is great.. one of our two local go-to places when we can't decide where the hell to go. never fails us with their high quality diner food. And newly remodeled! I stopped here to pick up my lunch because I was at the south gate plaza. Waitress who took my order was a little rough on the phone, but was very ice when I picked my food up. Cute place, where you can tell has an older crowd, and most likely regulars. All day breakfast I believe, which is a bonus, and it looked delicious. I would order from here again for sure. read more

My son had his wedding rehearsal dinner here last night. What a cute banquet room! Service was awesome and the fried chicken heavenly and who can forget the hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies! They have many choices for breakfast ,lunch or dinner buffets. If you want to watch a movie, I recommend the Count Of Monte Christes. It's about this eatery down in Southgate Plaza of West Seneca. I was last here just a few weeks ago to check if this was the same place I thought it was, before writing the review of it - lol. It indeed is. I'm really glad I found it because it was my first ever performance in the area, and as a professional musician (although I'm not that professional, and only play for free - haha). The sandwiches were excellent, the service was wonderful, I can only possibly give this place 5 stars. I've yet to figure out if it's the same owner but I'll do so next time I stop in here. Thank you very much to Julie C for helping me figure out that this was the place where I performed for the very first time in WNY. The owner was absolutely wonderful to me. The food was great, the coffee went down well with my gf at the time who was the one who encouraged me to come and sing in public for the first time in the area, and I have nothing but good memories of it. I'll be stopping by again soon to say hi and see if they remember me. Very good people and excellent food. read more

I've been by this place a million times finally stopped in today. Located in the Southgate Plaza right in front by Union Road Christie's offers home cooked meals at good prices in a relaxed atmosphere. It's a seat yourself place and the service was above-average with attentiveness to the drinks always being full and making sure the orders are right. I had the corn beef hash with scrambled eggs and potatoes along with wheat toast. Everything was very good, well seasoned and just the right amount to leave me feeling full but not stuffed. The place itself is clean with very comfortable seating and plenty of parking in the plaza lot. Another hidden gem in West Seneca. read more

Called to place an order an hour beforehand for about 8 people, staff was extremely rude over the phone, told me i was wasting their time ('i already spent multiple minutes away from my station to take this order' when i told her there was more after she cut me off and tried to tell me i was done.) multiple times she didn't listen to what i requested and tried to suggest we get other items and wouldn't listen to the actual order. told her onions on salad 4 times and she still read back no onions on the salad. when we went in the staff was extremely rude to us (2-3 employees) and i was also told at the front "im not dealing with that" when i told her we had the big order, as well as "that's not my job" when asked for silverware previous days. been here multiple times these past 2 weeks and this was the worst experience i've had here and had made me rethink ever ordering from this establishment again, as well as my friends who consistently ordered from here with me. such good food too- disappointing. read more

I'm upping the stars. I actually have had food from here sporadically however never felt the need to change the review. Today was different. I ordered "take out" early enough to include the most sacred of all breakfast foods - a Belgian Waffle. Only available until 1pm. This delightful treat combined with battered onion rings and battered mushrooms made my day wonderful! I don't know why this lovely dish is spelled as such, I would have thought that "Belgium" would be a better moniker. Whatever. I'm not playing teacher here. A few points about dining at Christe's: (1) It may not be this way at all times, but both times for dinner we seated ourselves as the sign directed. The place was not full, and the server came over immediately, so all was well. Perhaps on really busy times they have a host on duty to seat you. (2) The breakfast food is really good. In particular, the home fries have a good flavor without being overly seasoned. The default is no onions, which is good if, like me, you don't like them. They will add them upon request. (3) Sandwiches are large and good looking. (4) Fries are crispy. (5) The salads are also pretty large and good. This is a good place to eat out. read more

Don't go there unless you like to hear all about the doings of the servers. They are constantly talking to each other, very loudly too, and avoiding the customers. We've seen people walk out for lack of having their order taken. We never get our orders at the same time. One of us is usually almost finished before the other order comes! They really don't care if you are pleased or not and it doesn't do any good to call and complain to the owner, they don't care either. One server sets a table for four people complete with water, coffee cups, and menus at least 30 minutes before the one person who is a regular gets there, and he is the ONLY one who comes in. She always picks a prime table thereby not allowing someone else to sit there. I know they get quite a crowd especially on Fridays so a review isn't going to stop them but for us, we've had it with this place. There are so many other places to take our business. read more

Tasty choice Had lunch here before going into a music festival...Easy to find in a strip mall. Good size place with an extra room for parties. Staff was efficient and pleasant. Coffee hot and tasty. We shared a savory beef barley soup, full of veggies. I enjoyed a grilled chicken wrap and my guy had turkey on ciabatta. Accompanying fries were crisp and not of the frozen type. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming. Good experience. read more

What a great little place. Great breakfast fluffy eggs, fresh homefries, and wife loved the souvlaki. Kids cleaned their plates. Servers were calling people by name so you could tell it was a lot of regulars. Server was personable with kids. Will definitely be back. read more

The best western omelettes ever. My son and I go here all the time because the food quality of our omelettes are always top notch and consistently perfect which is very hard to do in this day of age. You will not find quality omelettes like this anywhere. Oh, and the bread is so soft and delicious too. read more

If you like 10-12 fruit flies landing on your head and dinner and another 10 gathering on the ketchup bottle, Chrities is your place. Asked the server to change my table , she put moved me over 1 table, same problem. I said could I move farther away she said"I would have to clean another table" and she walked away. Had breakfast here the other day. Not too bad. They have a pretty small breakfast menu in my opinion. THE ABSOLUTE BEST PANCAKES IN THE AREA!! coming from someone that eats pancakes EVERY day and visits many restaurants. The best! They are usually pretty consistent. We found this restaurant through a quick search of restaurants in the South Gate Plaza area and decided to give it a try while we were Christmas shopping. I have to say that I'm a little weary of a restaurant in a strip plaza, but when we arrived I noticed how packed Christe's was and that gave me a bit of relief. I ordered a burger, since I figured it was a safer option, and other members in our party got a BLT and the fish fry. It took quite a while for our food to come but when it did, I can't say I was disappointed. I think that I was most impressed with their BLT as it was club style and much larger than I would have expected. My burger was decent, not the best I've ever had, but decent. I can definitely say that I wouldn't turn this place down for another try, but I don't honestly know if I'd go out of my way to go here again. read more

We were looking for a good ol breakfast place and went to Christies at the suggestion of a friend. She is a regular and probably has a booth named after her. I got a standard breakfast and so did my husband. It was just average, but the toast was a thick cut rye which was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and think and just perfect. This was my favorite local breakfast spot until today. After waiting for a very long time for my food, I had a plate of cold, undercooked food put in front of me and was then pointedly ignored for the ten minutes I spent staring at it in disbelief. After I paid and was putting down a tip for some reason (after having to tell the cashier that I hadn't even received the check yet), the server noticed I hadn't eaten any of it and then, far too late, tried to offer me another plate or my money back. I wanted to tell her that the time to make it right had already passed, but I was so annoyed I just said, "No, that's all right," and left. I will definitely never be going there again. They've clearly seen me in there enough times that they've figured they can take my business for granted and treat me any way that suits them. Well, they're wrong. I'll find somewhere else to eat. read more

History

Established in 1951.

About our Family... In 1930, Christe Stefanovich came to America from a small Macedonian village in Yugoslavia. His dream was to create a future for himself, and send for his wife and son to join him in America. In 1951, Christe was able to purchase a piece of property right here in West Seneca at the southwest corner of Union and Clinton. Christe's remained in that location until a fire destroyed the building in 1976. Christe's son, Karl, ventured out on his own in 1970 and purchased a hot dog stand in Lackawanna. That restaurant, which his daughter Diana helped operate, and eventually took over, thrived for more than 30 years. Diana then opened Christe's in the Elma Village Plaza. That location moved to its current home at the Southgate Plaza, back in West Seneca, where it all began. Diana along with her sons, Brian and Jason, now operate the restaurant and carry on the fourth generation of hospitality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Please, make yourself at home!

Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. The craziest part about it is that Winfield's Pub is literally just 10 minutes from my House. A conveniently small place that packs big Bold Flavors. Like as you are driving down Ridge Road towards the main Lackawanna area. A place that if you want to enjoy, you'd have to park in front of it or park on the Side Streets of the neighborhood across from it and walk over. After trying out their Food at a Stillwater Farm Dinner consisting or Birria Tacos and Sausage stuffed Chicken Breast. To me that was a nice welcoming Card telling me to come right away instead of wasting more time ignoring the Place. You walk up 3 Steps and in you are greeted by the Owner's wife Sherryl, the Owner and the Head of Winfield's (Tab Daulton) is running the show making sure food gets pumped out of their Small Kitchen. While their son Thomas is at the Bar making Cocktails of the highest Quality with some of the most unique names that I've ever heard. My 1st visit was enjoying a Birthday Dinner with loved ones in the center of the Restaurant. While going over the menu, I had my 1st Cocktail called The Ghostwriter in a tall cylindrical glass that had Gin, Herbal Liqueur, Coconut, Lime, Lemongrass Syrup & Dill. Sweet and Herbaceous. Next up was some Fresh made Focaccia Bread studded with Rosemary, Garlic, Tomatoes and Zucchini that was so Warm and Flavorful like it just came right out the Oven. You know I like to drink Beer and cook with it too, I couldn't help but get myself a cup of their Beer Cheese soup with Bratwurst and Housemade Croutons. Every single Spoonful I took was Rich with a hint of Spicy heat at the end. Next up was a plate off Duck Confit Poutine with Goat Cheese (I opted for that instead of Cheese Curds). You might look at it and see a big globby mess but what I saw and what I ate was pure Gluttonous Heaven. French Fries, bits of Rich and Tender Duck Meat and mild and Tangy Cheese which equaled a comforting Bite. Next was another Cocktail I got called the Dirty Harry (named after one of Clint Eastwood's best-known roles). Another drink that hit hard consisting of Pineapple, Doctor Bird Rum, Boomsa Herbal Liquor and Banana Shrub Jam. While waiting for my main course, I tried some of Nathan's BBQ Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Who doesn't like tender Pieces of Meat with the outside bring Crispy while the Meat inside just melts away on your Tongue. For our Entrees, everyone enjoyed something different like Nathan and Brianna having Seared Chicken with Vegetables, Mike enjoying a Burger, Rick just getting a few Appetizers, Grandma Carol eating Fish Tacos, Jimmy and Kathy enjoying a Steak. While I got myself Seared Scallops over Sweet Corn Risotto with Tarragon. This looked to me and ate like a Summer Dish, why on earth was it on the Menu during close to Fall/Winter, I don't know. But I'll say this, I loved every bite, you get Sweetness from both the Seafood and the Corn with the Tarragon at the end giving it a light hit of Licorice. Thomas kindly gave me a Complimentary Drink while waiting for Dessert called the Legislation #2. It had Rye Whiskey, Dry Vermouth, Orange Cognac and Acidic Phosphate. While it had all those Ingredients, it was a simple looking Drink with a Jurassic sized Ice Cube in it. But I will say this, this drink packed one heck of a Potent Punch. To finish off the Meal, I got myself a big slice of Guinness Chocolate Cake. One of my favorite Beers has been Transformed into a Dessert. It had such a Deep chocolate Flavor with richness from the frosting packed in between each layer. I walked over and personally thank Tab and his Crew for the great Food that night. The only issue we had was waiting to get our Checks, but other than that everything went great. Another one to cross off my list, another restaurant that I will no longer Ignore.
