The venue itself is of course still very new, clean and modern. That can often mean high noise levels as others have noted, modern restaurant construction seems to put acoustics at the bottom of the priority list. That said, I did not find it overly loud, just loud enough where you had to raise your voice slightly. Enough about that. Johnson's Landing has a Lenten fish fry special, $20 for a full fish fry with sides, and this includes one of their specialty beers. This is a good deal to get a craft beer included with your fish fry. I actually ordered it to go and enjoyed the beer while waiting for the fish to take out. It was a very solid fish dinner, the batter was crispy, not oily. The fish was fresh, all of the sides were good, even the rye bread was a nice hearty thick cut of rye. The mac salad featured tuna, which I do like. And the fries were hot and tasty. The fish itself was not huge but was big enough for us. Every component of the fish fry dinner was on point. The barmaid was efficient and friendly, I did not have to wait. My only complaint is that they do not list beer prices on their menu, which was fine this time since it was included with the meal, but would prevent me from enjoying a stop on the way home for a beer or two. I think it is a sneaky practice, but strangely I do note prices on their website, and guess what? All draft beers are $8 including Labatt Blue Light, unless the website is now outdated. ($8 for Labatt's!! Holy Moly!) I can see why it is not on the printed menu. I really don't like when there is not full price transparency, thus four stars instead of five. However I wholeheartedly endorse the value and quality of the Lenten fish fry special. read more

We had a great time at Johnson's landing! We went to the upper part of the restaurant for our anniversary and got to enjoy a beautiful view of the lake as well as delicious food. We had reservation on June 20th and spent around $400 on apps, drinks, soups, salads, and entrées & desserts. The service was great, but the food--especially the entrées--was very disappointing. The mushroom bolognese was heavily over-seasoned with herbs to the point it had to be sent back. The pork chop was actually the only entrée at the table that was good. Ordered the 14 oz ribeye and it was a major letdown--tough, chewy, and oddly thin for a ribeye. It also came with what looked like frozen diner-style home fries, which did not match a $52 steak at all. The broccolini served with two of the dishes was also very tough and difficult to cut, even with a steak knife. Again, service was excellent, but the kitchen really missed the mark. read more

Had my birthday brunch here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience as did my guests. Everyone ordered different things of course, and I ended up going for the breakfast pizza ($20) which was delicious and had some for leftovers too! The pizza had bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and other things on there as well. I also had a cocktail, but I can't remember what it was called, but I know it had a peach ring on top and our server was really nice and brought me some extra peach rings in a glass to enjoy. I really enjoyed the vibe of the space and we were able to all be together outside on their covered patio where you could almost catch peels of the lake across the road. Johnson's landing is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo during the summer months! They have 3 levels of different dining experiences so there's something for everyone! From your average pub restaurant on the first floor, to your fancier restaurant on the second and a rooftop bar on the 3rd overlooking the gorgeous Buffalo sunsets and view of Lake Erie! I have been here 3 times and I have never been disappointed! The food is outstanding! I've ordered everything from their wood fired pizzas to their sandwiches to even the pork chop (not pictured) you can never go wrong! The service is great! This was my first time here and I'm certainly looking forward to coming back in the summer! Ambiance was great- 5/5 on that due to the views on the 2nd floor. It was a very "fancy" environment with cloth napkins, candles, etc. this would be very nice for a date night ! Food was also pretty good so 5/5 on this as well. They serve you bread with butter AND dipping oil which was pure perfection. The bread was crunchy out the outside and soft in the inside and had a great texture with every bite! Service was slow here and I'm not sure if it was a due to being a busy Friday night but I had to call the waitress over a few different times for drink refills. Had a good experience. The food was very good. I didn't take pics because I was with another couple but we all agreed the food was good. The crab cakes had a pineapple salsa on top which gave the appetizer a sweet and salty and a slight citrus taste. My chicken Milanese was amazing. I enjoyed every bite! My family and I waited 20 minutes at our table without anyone acknowledging us. We didn't receive water, menus explained, or any kind of service, while the tables around us were continuously being attended to. Eventually, I went to the hostess stand to let them know we still hadn't been helped. I saw her speak to a group of waiters, yet another 5-7 minutes passed with no one coming to our table. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of urgency or concern for a family that had been sitting there waiting the entire time. I can't say for certain it was racially motivated, but we were the only Black family there while everyone else around us seemed to receive constant service and attention. We waited over a half hour only to find out they didn't have the ingredients for the meals we ordered. First it was the appetizer, then after waiting even longer it was the main lunches too. The problem wasn't being out of ingredients -- it was the lack of communication, leadership, and basic customer service. What made the experience worse was the manager. Instead of coming to the table, apologizing, or trying to fix the situation, he sat near the entrance on his computer acting like he was too important to deal with customers. Meanwhile staff looked lost and customers were left waiting with no answers. As an owner myself, watching a manager wander around, avoid customers, and put zero effort into resolving an issue is frustrating to see. It honestly looked more like someone wasting ownership's payroll than actually managing a restaurant. Completely disappointing experience and very poorly run that day. read more

We have come here twice now, both times we started with a drink on the rooftop bar and then moved down to the first floor patio for dinner. We love rooftop patio so much we brought both of our families here! The food is good, but nothing out of this world. It's exciting that after a long wait Johnson's Landing finally opened at the end of this past summer. It's a gorgeous, modern and sleek new building that overlooks the lake. The first floor has an upscale bar food menu and the second floor has the same items as well as a few more upscale entrees. Both floors have ample amounts of seating and pretty big bar space. There are also outdoor patio areas to enjoy the outdoors and see the lake when the weather is nice. I've been here 2 times. Both have been very good. The first time was right when they opened. We had a reservation on the first floor but there was still a long wait. While we waited we were able to skip the line at the bar and use their self service pour station. This was pretty neat. You had your own QR code and could pour your own beer, wine or cocktail. It made splitting the check very easy too! This time I had a salad with shrimp, it was ok but the shrimp weren't cooked all the way. Our server was very kind and fixed it for me right away so i don't see it as an issue. The second time we were upstairs and it did have a more date night vibe. This time i had the stuffed filet of sole with shrimp and rice. Been here before but what brought us back is their $20 fish fry/beer combo. No reservations for this, but you can go online and put yourself on the waitlist. It didn't work for us so we did it once we got there. It was 35 minutes, so we went to the bar, then decided to eat at the bar. The battered fish was light and crunchy. The Cajun pretty good and lemon pepper was really liked by our guest. We tried mashed potatoes, American potato salad and French fries. I really liked my mashed potatoes. They came in a large bowl and were real mashed. The potato salad was good, way better than store bought stuff. I would have liked more mayo and onion but this probably satisfies the masses. The rye bread was super fresh and a big thick slice. The Mac salad was really good too and coleslaw tasted just like coleslaw! The beer here is pretty tasty as well with a nice selection. Enjoyed a birthday celebration on the first floor at Johnson's landing. We all enjoyed pot roast poutine which was delicious and filled up five of us. I really like the potatoes that they use, they are different than their french fries. I ordered the chicken and waffle pizza. It with a full size pizza cooked in there brick oven. It was good, the waffles had an amazing crispiness and sweetness to them and they were just small pieces so it wasn't too much. I only ended up eating about one and a half slices because the appetizer was so filling. It was delicious warmed up in the air fryer. My partner ordered a burger that he enjoyed. Someone else ordered baked fish with lots of good looking sides. Somebody else ordered the Cuban sandwich and enjoyed it. One thing that was weird is we went in April and did not even see the lake even though it's right there (apparently). We were there at sunset so probably the shades were shut because otherwise the sun would have been in our eyes. I've heard it's nice to go on the rooftop patio in the summer. read more

She shared a bit of her dish with me too. I also ordered the nachos. They were fantastic!!! The waitress's name from two nights ago was Abby F. She was very enthusiastic about the establishment and answered any questions I had. (I asked what the upper two levels were for. The second floor level is for fish and meats and they have separate chefs on that level. The third level is for group events.) I was going to take off a full star because of how pricy this place is, because of the potatoes, and because of how loud it gets in the evening but I didn't have the heart to do that. You get what you pay for. This new bar/brewery has a fantastic menu, amazing food, and great service. Stop here for a drink and some food. You definitely won't be disappointed. Johnson's Landing is the new brewery/bar/restaurant combo in Hamburg near the lake. Behind the old Peg's Place restaurant, the towering building is difficult to miss as you drive by. Inside and out, everything gives a modern, trendy, and clean vibe. The entrance is cozy chic but quickly turns to an industrial feel with the exposed metal rafters, vents, and ductwork. TV screens and a large screen with projector let patrons keep track of current sports, as you'd expect at a bar setting. The menu is fairly extensive with multiple sheets for the different categories, albeit diners should still expect it to be timid in varying from the usual bar menus. Pizza, sandwiches, and other finger foods with some salads, and sweeter flavors for the kids. Service at the start was good; we were greeted by three hostesses who found a table for us in five minutes. Our waitress was to our table shortly after. Upon placing our order though, it was nearly 40 minutes for the food to arrive. And the food was warm... but not hot. Also not hot was the coffee, which was served in glass mugs (not ceramic) to look trendy but caused the beverage to cool down before it even reached the table. We found ourselves looking for the waitress a few times as she only seemed to show up when bringing items to the table, rather than to check on if we needed anything. The highlights were the andouille sausage and sauce on the pizza; there was little to complain about the rest of the food but not much that stood out either. If you're looking for a place to have a couple drinks and socialize, this restaurant will fit your needs better, I feel. As a place for a sit down lunch, it left some things to be desired. read more
