A couple girlfriends and I stopped for lunch here on a sunny Friday a few weeks ago. It was pretty empty, so we had our pick of high top tables in the bar area. They had the garage doors open, so the breeze was great, but there were a few too many bugs for us LOL Classic menu with big beer list and go-to bar food options. Can't beat the location for a pre-show / pre-game stop (Keybank Center). You do need to arrive early though, as it fills up quick. Service was attentive and accurate. Food was mixed. Burger was good, but the Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip was surprisingly dissapointing. Very little chicken. Would probably not order again unless they update the recipe to add more chicken (unless we just had a bad order). This will be on our list of places to visit before any KeyBank Center visit, assuming we can handle long-waits, or arrive early. read more

We came in with a big group of about 35, we were in town for a hockey a tournament. The manager and servers were very accommodating and kind. They were able to get us to sit together and split our checks. Food and drink were great as well. The Olympics were on and it was a great place to watch the USA hockey game! Food on the money , wings are excellent and are priced on point , staff extra friendly, parking was very accessible and only 5 bucks plus they have the statue of the French Connection located right next to this place. I could write an entire article on The Draft Room. They have it all. Locationally, spatially (so much seating it's ridiculous), drink selection-wise, the fact that they have propane heaters & corn hole outside. It's a full-package kinda place. But do you know what stood out to me the most about going there (2 nights in a row but we won't talk about that)? The work culture. Listen, I made my rounds, talked to a fair amount of employees, & got a good sense of what this place is like behind the scenes. Not in an intentional, FBI, investigative sort of way. I'm not insane. But I am overly aware of how warped the restaurant industry's underbelly is & how tough it can be on the flip side. It's not easy dealing with the public in such a high volume, fast-paced setting. And being right across the street from Keybank? Get out. They've got every reason to be going out of their minds at all times. Yet every single employee I spoke to there couldn't help but sing praises of the place, its organization, its management, & their coworkers. Someway, somehow, Joe, Matt, & Jason have managed to cultivate & execute one of the purest blueprints for a bar & team that I've seen. This place glows from the inside out & it's a pleasure every time I step foot in there. Truly a salt of the earth space. I tried to make reservations 5 days before a Leaf / Sabres game. You have to leave a voice message. After 2 days of not receiving a return call, I left a 2nd message. No one ever replied. Arrived at restaurant at 4:30 pm on game day and explained situation. Was told there would be a 45 minute wait to get a seat. I could only imagine how long it would have taken to get our food. I am sorry to say that this was a very disappointing experience. I have gluten issues and fully understand my choices are limited. I accept this...it is the 'gig' I live with. However I was able to order red wine and a hamburger, no bun and no fries as they not gf. I asked for cheddar cheese (offered) and an extra slice instead of fries. What arrived first was a burger with processed cheese, no bun and fries. I explained to the server (a different person) about the fries and that I wanted cheddar cheese. I was told I would get a fresh burger...so hopefully this happened and not the same now contaminated burger....time will tell What came back was a burger with processed cheese, not cheddar, not two slices, which was pretty awful. Finger food is fine...but shouldn't have to ask for napkins ‍ My red wine came freezing cold, but no matter. But it was full of sediment. Later I asked for another glass which came in a plastic glass to pour into a glass that was dirty of sediment. I said, no, fresh glass please. What I got back was a glass of sweet Zinfandel because they were out of red wine....on a Friday night! I really appreciate that this is a burger/beer joint...but when food like cheddar is offered, red wine is offer I feel that it is ok to have a certain expectation. Of course we got apologies etc...the wine taken off the bill. I didn't need money off. I pay for what I drink and eat.... An inadequate burger and dregs of a glass of red wine. My husband order beer and hot wings. The beer was great the wings were mild. The bill was $50. We left the poor server a tip...not all his fault. Fun atmosphere and nice to sit outside and play games (cornhole, basketball, jenga). Ok draft beer selection. But the food was overpriced and not good. Pizza was thick and doughy. My sons hockey team rolled in here with 35 people at 1130 on Saturday, they didn't have all their staff but the rolled out the red carpet for us and helped make it work. I don't know how I stumbled upon this place in downtown Buffalo but I did after taking the trolley to Canal Street. It's a fairly new vin you that many locals didn't know about it and I'm so lucky I discovered this Jim's which is a brewery & A Tap House. I found it odd that you could only have drinks in either the brewery or the Taphouse but not in both. Later found out it was because of different owners. The place is beyond spacious and even has a bakery. I can only imagine how packed it will be during hockey season since it's right by the stadium. They had a great menu and we enjoyed the candy bacon and pierogi. I was so shocked to learn that Buffalo has a huge polish community!! Yeah for me! I sat in the tap room and there were over 20 beer choices and a lot of them favoring my taste for dark beer. The amazing bartender Kelsey really helped narrow down my choices. My favorite that I didn't think I'd like was the blueberry wheat. Our experience was made extra special because of Chelsea's customer service. Thank you from CA! read more

Omg what the heck happened to this place?? It was fantastic when it was Labatt house. So I asked alot of questions about the menu since it was so spare compared to before, and EXPENSIVE! 18.95 FOR 10 WINGS!!! I just bought a case which is 40 pounds for 60.00. That's 60 wings for 15.00 they pay and they charge that much!! So the pizza is frozen. The burgers are frozen. Beef on week came, no red at all. Chicken sandwich tiny compared to the roll. Went in with a group of 6 on a Friday night and were seated pretty quickly. Our server was super attentive and friendly, and the manager came by to see how things were going. They had a good beer selection and the food menu was alright, pretty standard. This would definitely be a good place to bring a group of friends! The location is stellar. And the building itself is beautifully remodeled with trendy and cool looking decor. Everything else is kind of meh. I've been here two times. Once before a Sabres/Leafs game. It was beyond packed. Stood shoulder to shoulder with folks and you couldn't hear what the person across from you was saying. I went another time when there was nothing going on at the arena or Canalside area and the place was empty. Checking to see if there's an event at KeyBank Center is absolutely something to keep in mind because it will determine if you find parking, have to pay for parking or even have enough time to eat in or grab drinks before your next destination. Service is kind of confusing. There are all these stations for placing food orders and yet there are servers walking around taking just drink orders, I think? I walked up to the bartender and asked how I could place a food order. He said he'd take it which I assume is not the norm. I was handed a beeper to let me know when my food was ready. I had no idea where to go once it was. Luckily a server brought the food to my table before I had to go looking for it. I wasn't a huge fan of the four Labatt craft beers I tried. Best one was the Amber Ale. Burger and wings were just OK. Burger had nice fresh toppings. It came with a strange tasting side of BBQ chips. Wings weren't anything to brag about. A single order in their eyes only contains eight wings but you pay $11 for them. I will say I had the freshest Labatt Blue on tap. Considering you can get Blue in any bar in Buffalo I can't say this would draw me back. read more

We came in here the weekend after Thanksgiving just to check it out and have a drink. The host was very helpful and nice he explained the different concept of the restaurant which was interesting but I am unsure if it is feasible. We didn't eat here we just had a beer. Their menu was lengthy and honestly we thought we heard they brewed their own beers but didn't see them listed so ordered our favorites that were on tap (from other local breweries) as we sat talking my wife called the bartender over and asked what beers they brew and he pointed to a few on the menu that if you didn't know they numbered the batches you wouldn't know they were theirs. Landed here the night that this placed opened. The Pegulas love to open places even if they are unfinished. The layout is spacious and for beer geeks, the SRM organ piping wall is going to be the next most instagrammed background in Buffalo. My Brother, friends and I stopped here after the Iron Maiden show at Keybank Arena to let traffic die down and grab some snacks and drinks. It was an amazing experience. The place is fantastic. Great, friendly, safe atmosphere. The staff on point, personable, professional and ticket times were really quick, which says A LOT given how insanely busy it was with the hungry and thirsty Maiden fans filtering out of the show looking for a bite and frosty beverage. (Drinks only review) I came in here late Saturday night (around 11:45pm +/-) with a group of friends following a performance next door, looking to have a night cap. We walked in and could sense that we were the only ones there, and the bar tender was closing up. We were about to walk back outside because we didn't want to keep her there past her shift / closing time and she blurts out "Welcome! Please come in, I will be here as long as you need". From that moment we knew that our business was appreciated, and for the next hour or so we were there the bar tender was awesome. She was able to hold real conversations, recommend drinks to us, and made us feel like we were super welcome even though I'm sure we kept her there later than she otherwise would have been. We even got to meet a manager who was excellent as well, and he gave us a tour of the restaurant and lounge. Some places won't give you this kind of service during standard hours, yet alone at midnight- here we were treated as the #1 priority from start to end. My friends and I were going to a concert and we had very limited time to grab dinner and a drink. We stopped in another place first that was packed and we were worried about time. This place is PERFECT for this! We had about 45 minutes before our concert started and we made it with time to spare. This is a very large place. This is not your traditional restaurant. You don't have your own server. This is how it works: 1) You order your food at one of a few "ordering stations". They started us a tab and gave us a buzzer for our food. It was packed! They said it would take about 10-15 minutes to get our food and they were dead on! 2) while you're waiting for your food, get a drink at the bar. They take your food receipt which has a tab number on it and add your drinks-if you choose to keep a tab instead of paying right then. 3) find a place-any place to park yourself. They have ledges, tables and bars everywhere. They buzz you or bring you your food if they can find you. We stood at a ledge that overlooked the bottom bar. We didn't mind standing. 4) go to any station-host stand or bar to settle your tab. They were great about separating our check. The food was decent and fast. My hamburger bun was very over-toasted or dried out, but burger and fries were good. My friend loved her battered fish sandwich. Food is reasonably priced and great in a pinch. Service was also very good. This place has a cool concept and is perfect for the crowds they get from events at Key Bank Center. It is right around the corner! read more

Like all they really wanted to do is serve beer but the felt obligated to have a food menu so it's kinda half hearted... so disappointing. After being swayed away from the sausage platter by our waitress (?!), we had the Caesar salad which was basic. French bread pizza which I said was gross several times because of a spicy and oddly flavored sauce, just yuck. And the spinach artichoke dip which was alright so I'm convinced it was out of a bag or jar. $50 bucks for all that and two beers. Stopped in for lunch with colleagues and didn't really know what to expect. There is a strong unpleasant smell when you walk in, that I believe has something to do with the brewing, but if you go toward the back of the place, it is not as bad. You need to order food from the bar or the ordering station, and find a seat, where they bring you the food. Then you get a server/bartender that can get you drinks, or you can go to the bar. I didn't really like this setup, as we didn't have personalized attention, and if we needed something, we had to walk up to the bar as the person didn't walk around frequently. The food came out very quickly, but it was not busy. I ordered the meatball bomber, which was three large meatballs with sauce and melted cheese on the sub bun. The meatballs were tasty, but it needed more sauce. My colleagues ordered the poutine burger, which they said was ok, but nothing special and lacked flavor, and was also a little dry. The beer was the best part! We all tried several different ones, including ones they had brewed there, and they were all very good. There were lots of TVs for watching, and they had a gift shop up front too. I would like to come back for a game, or when it's busier, but I will try it again. read more

First of all the owners are from NYC and they are running off the idea that it's not a full service restaurant...but... they have a full service menus (including lunch and dinner) and seats 400 people. So....if it sounds like a duck... You have a server that only serves beer/drinks. You have to go to the order station or bar for food. Which I didn't mind but that was because the place was nearly empty. I couldn't imagine doing that on a Sabres game. Even the waitstaff expressed that this wasn't really working too well and they have to spend 20% of the night explaining and how frustrating it is. Then they have signs everywhere that exclaim how they work off tips.... but then Again it's not full service. I'm not against innovated dining but I can't see how this will possible will work. I have seen this in NYC but it's at much smaller 20-50 person seating areas. The food was ok. Wings tasted NYC inspired. Not your typical bufflao hot sauce . Beer was good though. read more
