This large open space has various pieces of historical info about the Darwin Martin House, but it also provides a venue for a cocktail party (up to 150), a formal sit down dinner (up to 100) or a lecture space. I like this space because it is long, open and has unobstructed views throughout. You can really see what is happening from anywhere in the space. You will overlook the Darwin Martin House from this (mostly windows) space. Its an unobstructed view. Gorgeous day or night. The restrooms are modern and functional. There is a space for coatracks, or you can have a coat check. I'm not sure if there is a choice of caterers, but the food I have had at a few events has been good. The service professional and unobtrusive. Its available 7 days a week for rentals. While they don't do weddings or wedding receptions here, they are open for anything else, including the rehearsal dinner. It unique and beautiful. You can decorate to make it "your own" too. I was a little wary about the immediate surrounding area, since the streets immediately around the venue were cobblestone. This made it kind of hard to walk, when it wasn't super well lit. I was also confused by the parking arrangement in the area, since it seemed like the garage had some access restriction and the parking around the backside of the building also had confusing signage. This is not a criticism of the business whatsoever, just an important note for the other aspects of your visit.

The owner and property manager were fantastic. We had a slight issue regarding the AC circulation and it was handled quickly and efficiently. The communication and customer service was impeccable. A friend asked why she was not performing in the Mary Seton room at Kleinhans Music Hall. I think the acoustics are better here, as are the slightly padded chairs. It is certainly more intimate.

There is a floor standing room area you can watch the music, as well as two elevated seating areas. The seats were pews and very roomy. It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy the show free from the crowds. The sound quality was mostly good but at times I found it was very loud and hard to hear what the musician was saying. Didn't get any drinks or use the bathroom, so I can't comment on this aspect. Overall, I thought this was a great venue.

Everyone did not see it as soon as they came in but once they did venture outside, no one wanted to come back in. Good thing the program part of the banquet was already over. We took wonderful pictures. The fire pit was lit, and everyone just wanted to stay for as long as possible. I only wish we could have stayed past 10. The only downside was the A/V. You get to work with Kristina and Joey to plan everything along the way. The two of them and their teams are remarkable and made planning and executing our big day so easy. We had a waterfront ceremony, followed by a cocktail hour in the restaurant level where they passed our signature drinks and served delicious appetizers. Our guests LOVED the patio for our cocktail hour and there was plenty of space for everyone. The food was incredible and they pride themselves on not serving traditional banquet food. We selected the filet, chicken Milanese, and seasonal vegan dish as our entrees and our guests loved them. The staff was amazing working with our day of vendors. Whether it was helping set up our tables, genuinely wishing us the best on our big day, or the bartenders literally running to help get a stain out of my wedding dress, their staff is amazing.
